TREX 7.0 to 7.1 Upgrade

Hi Experts,
We currently have TREX 7.0 installed in the lab and wish to upgrade to the new 7.1 version. I am unable to find appropriate documentation for such an upgrade. Please can you advise if such document exists or if I must perform a fresh installation?

Please refer the upgrade guide in SMP. Release & Upgrade guide --> Inst & Upgrade Guide --> SAP NetWeaver --> SAP NW 7 --> Upgrade --> Upgrade - Standalone Engines (SAP NW Search and Classification TREX ).
You can find and upgrade document for upgrade to 7.0 from 6.1 in the TREX upgrade column.

Trex Upgrade to REV50 problem

Hi ,
I can't find any documentation relating to patching TREX 7.0 with support packs. I downloaded SP50 for TREX 7.0 and started the upgrade.
But when i am using the upgrade option its giving me error that usr/sap is read only.
My doubt is that why it is wrinting in usr/sap instead of /usr/sap/SID.
Please help me with steps to upgrade.
From where should i start the sapinst.
Currently tried from /usr/sap/SID/TREX_UPDATE but its gives the above error.
Quick help is appreciated .

Error Installing a TREX Instance Only 7.0 on a Windows 2003 Server (64 bit)

Hello,
during the installation of a TREX 7.0 Instance on a Windows 2003 (64 bit) Server following error occured:
"SAP System XXX is a ABAP or double stack system. Cannot switch this to a java standalone system."
The error occured after/during the step SAP System > OS User Passwords
On the server runs a CRM 7.0 EH1 double stack system XXX.
Also there runs a TREX 6.1 which should be upgraded to 7.1.
Could anybody help me?

we're running KW 7.0 on w2k3 without any Problems.
The KW 7.0 System consists of a WebAS 6.40(ABAP+JAVA)and a SAP Content Server. Both components are supported on w2k3(PAM).

Trex monitor nullpointerexception

We're on EP60 SP2 and installed trex 6.0 SP1 on the same box. We followed the how to guide create and crawl a web repository which worked fine.
unfortunately the TREX Monitor in the EP does bring up this error message:

I did check sap notes, sdn forums etc. and played around with classpath and path variable, changed the iis settings (we're on w2k3s, iis6 and mssql 2000).
another issue - maybe it is related to the nullexception - is, that in the w2k3s event log the sql server brings up an error:

updated jmon lib to newest patchlevel (actual 16).

Thanx for your answer. Yes I had a look on those notes.
The TREX Problem itself has been solved by upgrading the jmon lib to pl 16. I don't have any error msg with the trex monitor.
Actually, I'm upgrading now the portal to SP2 Patch 3 and 4, since I still have some nullpointer exceptions in the portal.

When to TREX Install ?

Hello Everyone,
I have successfully installed EP 6 SP 9 on WAS 6.40 Java with Oracle as database. I have also installed KM and Collaboration of this stack. I havent installed TREX yet.
We have to upgrade from SP9 to SP 12. So when do I install TREX ? Can I install TREX after I apply the patches for WAS, Portal Platform and KMC and move to SP 12? Or do I have to install TREX now before applying the patch for sp12 and then move to SP12 ?

TREX registration to SLD doesn't work.

Hi everyone!
I have installed a new TREX 7.0 with the latest patch level and I have a real issue in the post task of the TREX installation guide. When the TREX tries to update the remote SLD with own data it get's an error message "HTTP ERROR CODE 400" Bad request. I'm using the default port 50000 and XISUPER as user to connect to the SLD. The SLD runs on the same instance as SAP XI. Is it possibly to run SAP XI 3.0 SP 18 with NW2004s TREX or do I need to upgrade the SAP XI instance to the latest WEB AS (ABAP & JAVA) to be able to communicate with the TREX? I have also updated the SLD with the latest CIM model and I'm now running out of ideas. So any suggestions would be nice.

As a solution part please cerify that u have to apply the same patch level in ABAP+JAVA, also identify which is the lowest level patch required by TREX to be installed on the system.
I think the problem is in Patch level..if it is not then please follow all the procedure describe in "Installation - Search and Classification TREX Single Host.pdf" on service.sap.com

Upgrade from TREX 6.1 to TREX 7.0

Recently upgraded our Portal Environment from EP 6.0 SPS19 to EP 7.0 SPS14. Our TREX version was 6.1 Rev 32. Installed TREX 7.0 Revision 38.
The upgrade Guide for TREX 6.1 to TREX 7.0 refers to running python script exportHost61_70.py to export the indexes from the TREX 6.1 system. I shutdown the TREX 6.1 system and started the 7.0 TREX system. Executed python script importHost_61_70.py to import the indexes to the 7.0 environment. The scripts ran successfully with no errors. Restarted both the TREX 7.0 and the EP 7.0 system.
When I logged on to the Portal and accessed the Indexing Monitor(System Admin --> Monitoring --> Knowledge Management), the Status of indexes are red. The indexed column displays values for the various indexes. If I display the queue for the index, the queue Status is Invalid. I launched the TREX 7.0 admin tool. The indexes do show up however, the indexes do not show up in the Queue:Admin from the TREX admin tool. The /usr/sap/<SID>/TRX<instance#>/queue directory is empty.
Has anyone encountered this problem using the export/import script from TREX 6.1 to TREX 7.0? We have single host installation.

Please verify that user <sid>adm in the new TREX 7.0 server, is assigned to administrators group of windows local groups, then try again. In addition verify if you can open the file independently of python tool, this is with the windows zip tool.
I'm having an error with import script too. I just sent a message to SAP Support so I wait for what they can tell me. This is the error detail if you can help me.

Trex patch upgrade issue from 44 to 50

I have successfully installed Trex version 7.00.44.00 on windows 2008 server and Now, when I am trying to upgrade patch from 44 to 50 gives the below error at DNS domain name parameter enter stage.
<<Reverse Lookup of address '64.-88.xxx.xxx failed>>>
I have hosts entries maintained correctly as below.Checked the following note but no success.Host is not registered in the domain but as a workgroup.Can please tell me what could be reason for this???
IPaddress hostname.mycomapny.com hostname

Upgrade path for TREX / Internet Sales

Can anyone point me in the direction of SAP info regarding upgrades to TREX and Internet Sales?
We're on very old unsupported versions of these and I'm looking for info on both latest versions and whether there are upgrade paths from our current version. Happy to dig out the detail myself if someone can point me in the right direction.

OK, answered my own question now I've discovered the newer product is called e-commerce 5.

TREX upgrade - Export Error

Hi,
I am in the process of upgrading TREX from TREX 6.1 to TREX 7.0 Rev 50 on the same same host as of old TREX system.
Did installed TREX Rev 50. Now trying to do export of all indexes from old TREX but getting the following error:
command: python exportHost_61_70.py /usr/sap/AA1/oldtrx.zip /tmp
Error:
'import site' failed; use -v for traceback

Did python -v and following is the output;

Trex Upgrade: importHost_61_70.py does not work !!

Hello,
I am upgrading TREX server from 6.1 to 7.0 following SAP Upgrade Guide
"Upgrade from TREX 6.1 to SAP NetWeaver 2004s TREX (TREX 7.0)".
Old TREX system (6.1) is installed on machine called sapportaldes, and
new TREX system (7.0) is installed on a separate machine called
trexdesarrollo.inta.es (same operating system).
I did the export in old trex system with script exportHost_61_70.py ,
and It generated a zip file. Export was ok !!
Then, I copied export zip file to the new trex system and execute
importHost_61_70.py script.
When I execute teh script, I get Windows pop up "Windows can not open
this file",
I am not able to import index on new trex server...
Any idea¿?

TREX upgrade and index corruption

What are the dangers with upgrading TREX 6.1 from SP 9 to SP 16?
Is there the possibility that the existing indexes get corrupted?

Hi Davide,
There is no danger of upgrading from TREX 6.1 SP9 to TREX 6.1 SP16.
Indexes do not get corrupted with the upgrade.

Issue while TREX upgrade from 7.0 to 7.10 in Redhat 5

We are upgrading the TREX from 7.0 to 7.10 in Redhat 5
We follow the approach mention in TREX upgrade guide for Scenario Upgrade by Update
When we run the tool the insatllation run and finishes ( Having 2 steps only )
It already select the existing TREX system
1. Set up TREX instance
2. TREX execution phase
after that when we are checking TREX is still of old version.
Moreover we find our in /usr/sap/<SID> there is only more directory created with name <SID> having global profile and exe folder inside it but no instance folder
Please guide how to move ahead.
