TREX Configuration

Hi all.
I want to configure TREX for KM Search and I'm having problems.
The TREX and Portal are running on diferent servers.
I did configure the TREX service on the Visual Administrator: in the porperty <b>nameserver.address</b> I wrote <b>tcpip://<myserver.mydomain>:<myserverport></b> then restart the J2EE and when i enter into the TREX Monitor in the Portal the Server Status says: <i>"The name server is not running or no name server is configured in TREX Service Properties. Start J2EE Admin to change the properties. "</i>
Please I need help on that URGENT.
Best Regards.
Gregory.

Hi Subramanya,
Please do the following:-
Logon as administrator
Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Service Configuration
Open the tree Applications
Open the tree 'com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice'
Open the tree 'Services'
Right Click on link 'proxy'
Click on menu 'configure'
The add your TREX port under "HTTP - Bypass Proxy Servers" and "HTTPS - Bypass Proxy Servers" i.e. for example if your TREX name is "http://PWDF3028.wdf.sap.corp:33305/TREXHttpServer/TREXISAPIExt.dll"
then add "pwdf3028|" under above both HTTP services at begning or add "|pwdf3028" at the end.
Click on button Save
Close it
Right click on 'com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice'
Click on menu 'administrate'
Click on link 'Restart' under service "com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice|http"
Click on link 'Restart' under service "com.sap.portal.ivs.httpservice|proxy"
Close it
Then log off the portal and again logon
Now you are able to create the Index
Please note that if it did not work then do the things which I mentioned in reply posted on "Posted: Apr 30, 2007 2:22PM"

  • Error while indexing after Trex Configuration

    Hi ,
After TREX configuration , only my .txt files are getting indexed ..
all other extension files like .doc, .pdf are getting failed at the preprocessing stage
    can somebody explain this

    hi
this problem is with host name missing
    Try these
    Logon to portal as administrator
Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> Show Advanced option -> URL Generator Service
    Then check the Host name.
It should be according to your portal
For example if your portal URL is http://GHIKD.sde.rfd:53200/irj/portal then you need to give host name like http://GHIKD:53200.
If still your problem is existing, please feel free to ask.
    Regards

  • TREX - Configuring Distributed Slave with Decentralized Data Storage

I am creating a distributed TREX environment with decentralized data storage with 3 hosts.  The environment is running TREX 7.10 Rev 14 on Windows 2003 x64.  These are the hosts:
Server 01p: 1st Master NameServer, Master Index Server, Master Queue Server
Server 02p: 2nd Master NameServer, Slave Index Server
Server 03p: Slave NameServer, Slave Index Server (GOAL; Not there yet)
The first and second hosts are properly set up, with the first host creating the index and replicating the snapshot to the slave index server for searching.  The third host is added to the landscape.  When I attempt to change the role of the third host to be a slave for the Master IS and run a check on the landscape, I receive the following errors:
    check...
wsaphptd03p: file error on 'wsaphptd03p:e:\usr\sap\HPT\TRX00\_test_file_wsaphptd02p_: The system cannot find the file specified'
wsaphptd02p: file error on 'wsaphptd02p:e:\usr\sap\HPT\TRX00\_test_file_wsaphptd03p_: The system cannot find the file specified'
slaves: select 'Use Central Storage' for shared slaves on central storage or change base path to non shared location
The installs were all performed in the same with, with storage on the "E:" drive using a local install on the stand-alone installation as described in the TREX71InstallMultipleHosts and TREX71INstallSingleHosts guides provided.
Does anybody know what I should try to do to resolve this issue to add the third host to my TREX distributed landscape?  There really weren't any documents that gave more information besides the install documents.
    Thanks for any help.

A ticket was opened with SAP customer support.  The response to that ticket is below:
Many thanks for the connection. We found out, that the error message is wrong. It can be ignored, if you press 'Shift' and button 'Deploy' (TREXAdmin tool -> Landscape Configuration).  We will fix this error in the next Revision (Revision 25) for TREX 7.1.

  • KM & TREX configuration

    Hello all
We have KMC and Trex installed and I am starting the configuration of KM. Can anyone please tell me where should I start. Do we have to do any configuration for KM to start searching using the TREX engine. What are the steps required for the search feature to work.
    Thanks in advance
    Swetha

    Swetha,
assuming that KM is already working fine (i.e. you have some repositories and can create documents in them), you only need to setup one ore more indexes. This can be done in role system adminsitration under "content management" --> "index administration". Tell the index which parts of a repository to index, define at what times the index shall run and you're done.

  • How to configure trex name server

    hi all
while creating index i am getting the error
Index could not be created; creating index failed: TREX Name Server (including back-up servers) is down or not accessable. (Errorcode 7217)
for the above error i need to configure the trex name server using  TREX Configuration in the J2EE Engine  in j2ee visual administrator .
can any one tell me the clear path that where to configure the above and where j2ee visual administrator installed how to configure the name server
    awaiting for replies
    regards
    ganesh

    Hi Ganesh,
In order to access the Visual Administrator, go to Start > Programs > SAP J2EE Engine > Visual Administrator. After you login, you will see 2 nodes i.e. Dispatcher and Server. Expand the Server node. Then go to "Services" and expand it. Then go all the way down to "TREX Service". Then on the right hand side, go to the property "nameserver.address" where you will key in "tcpip://<nameserver>:<port>". Then hit "Update" and click on the "Save" button. Then when you go to TRex Monitor, you should be able to see the Name Server running. Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Sri

  • How to configure TREX so it does not include title in the index created

    Hi all
Can someone tell me where I can find the TREX configuration that disables the indexing of the html title. If I for instance want to index www.sap.com, and I do not want the title = "SAP - Business Software Solutions Applications and Services" to be indexed, how do I do that?
If I were to index www.sap.com I would not be interested in getting a hit for all pages when a user searches for "software" or "solutions" for example.
    Any help will be rewarded.
    Kind regards,
    Martin Søgaard

    Hi Praveen
Thank you for your post. It was exactly was I was searching for, and it didn't come up on my searches in SAP documentation. As of now it seems to work as intended on our DEV system.
Only thing about the documentation was that I had to change the std.html-config file in the SYS-folder of the TREX installation folder in order for it to work (the std.html-config file was located in two different folders).
    Thanks.
    Kind regards,

  • Configuring TREX for sld

    hello to all.
Why do i need to do the post installtion of the trex ""Configuring TREX" for sld"?
    I have to do it?
    Thanks
    Menashe

If you are installing any component of 'NetWeaver', you should register it with Central SLD server of your landscape.
Same case with Trex too, that's why you have that post installation step there. However, it is not a 'Mandatory' step which needs to be done immediately after installation. But in future, you might require this. So you may proceed to do it after proper understanding of what is an 'SLD' even !
This step itself tells it's purpose as seen from below help page
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwpi711/helpdata/en/42/e33ae230ba3ee2e10000000a1553f6/content.htm
Following link will help you in understanding the SLD

  • How to patch TREX 6.1 SP14 in a distributed configuration ?

    Hi,
I'm looking at applying the latest TREX 6.1 support package on a Distributed TREX configuration (1 master & 3 slave TREX servers) and reading through the TREX installation, configuration (distributed) and the NW04 SPS >=15 guides there is no clear instructions on the recommended process to be followed.
I'm assuming that I shutdown all 4 TREX instances then bring one up at a time, patch it then shut it down again and do then repeat this on the next TREX instance host contained in the Distributed config  - untill all 4 servers have been patched.
Has anyone seen any instruction/detail on the SAP recommended procedure when patching a distributed TREX configuration , or can confirm if my assumptions on the process are correct.
    Thanks,
    Brian McQuillan.

    Dear Friends,
We have EP6 SP12 installed on windows 2003 server. We have just installed TREX 6.1. I dont get to see the TREX configuration within portals. I suppose the configuration should lie under System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> TREX. I dont see TREX under Content Management. Can someone guide me where to configure TREX within portals?
    Thanks,

After installing, You shold configure indexes, crawlers, repositories etc.
