TRex for iviews

Hello
We've implemented SAP EP few weeks ago.
We would like to use the TRex server to search for specific iviews among the menu of the portal (for example, I have an iview which title is "Transport date". If I search in the portal for the word "transport", I would like to see my iview in the list of answers).
We've been told it's not possible but it surprises me a lot. Does someone has done it for his/her company ?
If yes, can you explain me how.

hi,
This can be very well implemented in trex
for that you have to make an entry into index management services and then assign the pcd repository to it.

TRex search for iView

Hello, I was wondering how to do make the TRex search for the content in iViews and link to those iViews into the portal when the TRex send the results for search. Right now the TRex searches in the repositories specified in the datasource and the results link to the content of documents. Any ideas?

Oh, don't mix up the PCD repository which can be searched for iViews ==> that is iView names, maybe description etc, but this does not mean the content itself.
As far as I understand your original question, you would like to search "real content" ("what's printed within the iView") in that kind that clicking on a search result link would lead you to the corresponding navigation target.
For this, the scenario given in my orignal answer in this thread should be the way to go. Even if this works only in "internet" scenarios properly, for this scenario cannot distinguish between different roles / access rights.

Yes. "SP" = "Support Package", SPS = "Support Package Stack", the "new" common number for all components playing together.

Deployed application from NWDS not available in local folder for IView crea

Hi Gurus,
I have deployed an Web Dynpro Java application from NWDS. The application deployed fine.
But when I tried to cretae the Web Dynpro Java application from the Portal the corresponding application is not available in local folder for IView creation.
How do i need to proceed for Web Dynpro Java IView creation.

Hi Kiran,
Please check under sap.com/local OR you custom package while creating Web Dynpro Java application iview.
Then select your WD Application if you found - Applcaition >> package >> then select Application name and click on next.
Verify your application deployed or not or in which folder at content administration >> web dynpro >> searh your WD application.

Using TREX for Material master for longtext (basic data) and classification

Hi together,
I am only having some basic know how about TREX.
We want to use TREX for quick search in Material master long texts (like basic data and so on) and also for searching in characteristic values of material master (tab: classification).
The TREX is successfull installed and It was possible for me to create an index for Material BUS1006001 in SES_ADMIN and search the material in this transaction by TREX. I also find the index in TREX_ADMIN "green".
But there I could only use the attributes of the standard business objects (for example describtion of material master = short text).
Now I want to use the long texts and the classification. What do I have to do in SES_ADMIN or somewhere else? Actually I only want to use the functionality in SAP GUI. If I know how to make the indixes I could program an own F4-Help for this in ABAP.
Can anybody help me?

Hi Florian,
SES_ADMIN is the admin cockpit of the Search Engine Service (SES).
SES-based solutions usually include searching the long text. Just test!
SES-based solutions usually do not include searching via classification.
The successor framework of SES is "Embedded Search".
Embedded Search is available with NW 7.01, corresponding to ERP 6.04. For details see SAP note 1254901
Classification is supported by Embedded Search with NW 7.02, corresponding to ERP 6.05.
ERP 6.05 is in unrestricted availability since summer 2011.
If the customer can not upgrade to ERP 6.05, there is a preliminary SES-based solution for searching via classification.
The solution can only be provided via SAP PLM consulting.

Installing TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview2004s SP9

Hello,
I installed Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9. In the description of the download package TREX is mentioned. But it did not install. I found Thread TREX in EP? where a file SAPNW2004sJavaSP9_TREX.rar is mentioned. Does anybody know how to the download this file, rsp. how to install TREX for Netweaver Sneak Preview 2004S SP9?

I just checked this morning and the link now points to the SAPNetWeaver04_SP16Preview_TREX6116P2 rar file. I had downloaded that file back on 6/7/07 but it would not work. It would quit at the question asking for an instance to apply the hot fix, so I am guessing that it is only a maintenance release.
I have not re-downloaded it since they fixed the link.
However, I eventually found a download of TREX 6.1 on the SAP Software Distribution Center site found here:

Search for 51030611. I was able to load that successfully.

How 2 create an 'unread documents' TREX search iView

Hi,
I'm trying to create a TREX seach iview (EP6SPS9) which shows all unread documents as a result.
The property acc:cm_lastreaddate seems suitable to use in
the 'query' section of the searchiview.
This one works fine (result = show documents which were published last week) :
ConfigFileName=Navigation.xml&StartPage=SearchPage&ResourceListType=com.sapportals.wcm.SearchResultList&SearchType=ctrlpers&layoutSetMode=exclusive&Validate=false&QueryString=*&SelectedNotOlderRange=1
Adding &SelectedCustomProps=acc:lastreaddate(value=null/operator=EQ) unfortunately does not work.
Something wrong in syntax (timestamp?)?
Maybe there are other ways to achieve this goal.
Any ideas?

Hi Mark,
Why don't you compare the values of getCreationDate() and getLastModified() of the files under consideration. If both are the same, then the file is an unread one.

Doubt in configuring entry points for iviews

Hi, I have followed the steps of the help about configuring entry points for iviews:
1.-> in the pcd I have created a folder to store iviews for WPC.
2.->I have gived read permission.
3.->I have desactivated the hide root folder check por pcd repository.
4.->I have created a folder in km.
I am loosing in the step "Create a entry point for the folder that you created in step x".
How link the pcd folder that store the iviews with the km folder?
when I try to create a entry point I only can see km folders, How can I choose my pcd folder?

Try this:
Procedure
1. Choose System Administration → System Configuration → Knowledge Management → Content Management → User Interface → Mapping → Component.
2. Edit the wpcDragExplorerEntryPoints configuration object.
Use the following parameters:
Parameter: Description
displaymode:Specify select
maxproviderprio: Highest priority number that standard entry points can have and still be displayed in the Web content browser
entriesperrow: Number of entry points displayed in each row (default: 5)
entrypointsprefix: Prefix of the entry point repository: If you specify a value for this parameter, standard KM entry points are also displayed in the Web content browser.
Default: /entrypoints
sharedcontent: Semicolon-separated list of paths to be displayed as global entry points for shared content
Examples of parameter values (for sharedcontent param):

If you are installing any component of 'NetWeaver', you should register it with Central SLD server of your landscape.
Same case with Trex too, that's why you have that post installation step there. However, it is not a 'Mandatory' step which needs to be done immediately after installation. But in future, you might require this. So you may proceed to do it after proper understanding of what is an 'SLD' even !

I dont want to use SAP NW Enterprise search 7.2 tool using which we can directly search B.O. in SRM.

check POWL customizing in IMG. -- set TREX based search for feeder type
The documents have to be indexed in TREX for the full-text search to work.
The TREX Search Engine is delivered with SAP SRM, but you must first install it and run program BBP_TREX_INDEX_ADMIN. This program creates a new index for existing documents and enables all new or changed documents to be indexed automatically

Missing IMG entry - "Reuse country specific services" for iviews

Hi all,
We have experienced a problem related with an IMG activity which we couldnu2019t found:
u201CReuse country specific servicesu201D.
We need this for iviews to be used for different country grouping (in our case we have to use 99).
We know that we need to configure table T7XSSREUSEUISN but for some reasons it is not in the directoryu2026.
Any suggestions or work around?
Any inputs are much appreciated.
By the way our ECC is 5.0 and EP is 7.0.

Why EPCM.donavigate doesnt work for Iview with isolation type embedded

I am using EPCM.donavigate in JavaScript in portal jspdynpage to navigate to different page. This works fine when my iView isolation method is URL but it doesnt work when it is embedded. Am I missing something here? some import?

In Javacript of Portal jsp page, we are calling EPCM.doNavigate method as below:
function callfunc(obj,externalLink,rid,portalPageURL,InvalidLink)
return EPCM.doNavigate('ROLES://' + obj)
Final URL look something like this...
portal_content/com.sap.pct/com.sap.prod_fld/com.sap.roles/com.sap.rol_career/com.sap.wks_1_1/Folder_2/com.sap.pag_1_1_2
This Code works only for Iviews with URL Isolation but doesnt work with Embedded Iviews as my Page which contains this Iviews is also Embedded and Desktop is also embedded.

If you are Looking for the standard Iviews that come with the Business then you should download the concerned docu from Iviewstudio.com or sap serviceplace.
If this is a general question, then you should search for say Bapi via trans BAPI in SAP and for RFCs via SE37.
SAP Does not publish any standard list i think.

but there are still some question-marks.
our plan is to use and fill the solution database in the first phase of our project.
and when we see, in three or six month, that we really need this, we will install trex.
so, can i use solution database without trex? when you say that without trex no search is possible - what is possible? see all solution database entries in a long list? or is it defently not possible to fill solution database with ta IS01 w/o trex?

You would require TREX for the Solution Database. Without TREX, the search functionality would not work.
