TREX for multiple components

Hello,
we plan to deploy several NetWeaver Components (BW, EP, HR-e-recruitment, MDM), which all need TREX. The requirements for each system are relatively small, so we think about installing one TREX-system for all components. Is this feasible, does anybody have experience with this scenario? What if on of the connected components is upgraded or another component has to be added later on?

We have deployed DEV and QA systems for e-recruitment V3.0 that share the same TREX 6.1 resource for candidate search functionality. The only limitation that we experienced was that in the original planning, we were going to combine DEV / QA e-recruitment on a single server. It was not able to be done based on a hard coded port used for communication between e-recruitment and TREX.

Hi,
When logging NC codes in SAP ME 6.0 it is possible to log the same NC Code (defect) against many ref-des for
multiple components.
However when logging a secondary code (Action) for the previous primary NC Code all the choosen ref-des and components
don't get copied..
Is this how it is supposed to work or is there a setting somewhere so that all ref-des and components gets copied?

Hi Johan,
The matter of your question is related to Ref Des List re-desinged for 6.0.
Overall situation looks like a design gap because:
- no explicit statement in the documentation describing the case of copying multiple Ref Des'es;
- the case of 1-to-1 relation between Component and Ref Des is mentioned in the context of auto-population of these feilds on tabbing out if one of the field is populated;
- the case of single Ref Des is widely referenced in the context of VTR that is a new feature in 6.0.
So, if you need this to be reviewed by Product Mgmt (maybe they agreed to identify this as a bug), as usually you should either ask your SAP ME Consulting representative or submit a support ticket (depending on whom you pefer to talk with ).

Event model for multiple components

For some time now I have been searching on the net for a proper way to do following:
I have a class that extends a JFrame. In it I instantiate and add two more classes ControlPanel and CanavasPanel which extend from JPanel...
All these are in SEPARATE files...My ControlPanel class has buttons that when clicked are supposed to draw different objects on the CanavasPanel...
How do I fire a method in my CanavasPanel class when a button is clicked in ControlPanel class??? These are all in separate files and I am looking for a solution that does not uses inner and anonymous classes..If I implement ActionListener in ControlPanel class I know a way of referencing CanavasPanel class so I can fire its methods...
Is it doable? And if so can someone explain to me what needs to be done.

One TREX server for multiple Portals?

I have the same requirement as that contained in this thread:

I wonder if anyone can technically elaborate a bit what the procedure for this configuration.
I would have to install a TREX and create a TREX instance for each Portal that I want to give TREX service?
Each instance points to a different host?
My requirement is to use the same TREX to both DEV and QA Portal hosts.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. !!

One Open Directory server for multiple businesses?

Hi all,
Is it possible to have one Mac OS X server seen by client computers through different domain names?
See, I have one server now, with name:
server01.it.lan
As we are managing three different companies, I'd like the users working for one particular company to see the server with that company's name:
server01.bizA.lan
or
server01.bizB.lan
...and so on.
And I'd want whatever service used by that user to have a path or address that refers to that name, even though it will point to the same server in the end...
After some reading, I have different avenues available which would each require quite some reading. So I'm turning to you to narrow the field of researches.
1. First of all, is this possible? I mean, not-too-complicated possible?
2. Where would you recommend I spend time learning?
- DNS aliases? AFP seems to go back to the primary name when I use an alias in Directory Access... (shows server01.it.lan/share instead of server01.bizA.lan/share)
- Network configuration duplicates, to have more than one IP address pointing to the same machine?
- Other ideas? I don't need/want a full walkthrough. Actually, I'd prefer to just have simple hints to direct my researches...

Is it possible to use the same OSSO/OID for multiple R11 and R12 instances?

Hello guru's,
We have multiple R11and R12 instances that should be configured for Oracle SSO 10.1.4.3. For OID, we are still trying to decide between OID 10.1.4.3, or OID 11g. OAM is not an option because we also also need OSSO integration with Siteminder. We will also need to SSO-enable Discoverer an Forms.
I have successfully configured SSO for a single-instance EBS R12, but not for multiple instances, let alone include R11 and other components into the mix.
Do you have any special tips, guidance or lessons learned when SSO-enabling multiple instances into the same SSO/OID?

Interestingly, the article talks about using the same SSO/OID for EBS, JD Edwards, Peoplesoft multiple R11 instances, but did not mention 'multiple EBS versions'. Am I just being picky or there was a reason for it not being mentioned?In Steven Chan blog (in the same link), see the following:

How to remove multiple components border inside a single table column cell

Hi,
I'm adding multiple components to a table cell. To provide a good layout I'm using the following component hierarchy in a table column - table-->groupPanel--> gridPanel-->staticText Components 1 ..2 ..3. Now when I do preview in browser or run the app, the table shows up fine, but textComponent s(1,2,3) in the column are each surrounded by a border (which is the width of gridPanel border). Is there a way to get rid of this border?
This only occurs when you add multiple components in table cell, under gridpanel layout component.
I've tried searching for a way to remove the grid pane layout component border but couldn't find any info. Used style class border setting to not set but that doesn't help either. I checked forums, tutorial, learning sections etc., but no success. Any help or direction is appreciated..

It completely depends on clients requirement. but following are few approaches:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.
2. Create a Building at specific location at asset code and
3. create asset sub numbers for other components.
other approach would be:
1. Define Building as Asset Class.

3. create further asset codes for other components where field description will be used for relating each other.

Hi,
depending requirement of application we can use multiple components.
for example if we want to display table data into alv grid for that we can use the existing(standard component) ie: SALV_WD_TABLE .Like such a way we can use the components as per our requirements.
For importing components:
--> Go to properties tab of view of your web dynpro application
--> There you can find one button create controller usage ,click on it then import the components

Adding support for multiple languages

Hi all,
I've a desktop application with multiple components in it containing .rc files.Now, I'd want to replicate these .rc files in such a way that I should be able to build and generate a localized build from my source.
To explain more, as of now my release configuration would generate an English language build. Now, I'd want to do the same for all languages. Is there any tutorial on how to achieve this?
For now, I'm thinking to add multiple build configurations and let different components point to specific resource directories.
Lets say I have a folder res_english -> this will contain all english resources, res_japanese would contain all japan resources, like this I should have multiple folder each containing specific resources. CAn someone guide how to do this?

Drag and Drop of multiple components at once

Hi everybody,
I need to select and drag multiple components (Eg. JLabels) at once, it is quite simple to manage just one drag at a time but how can be managed a multiple drag?
I mean something like Windows files selection mechanism : using Ctrl + Left mouse click to select the components and then start dragging them all to the drop target.
Beneath the code I'm using for testing , clicking and dragging each JLabel to JTextField just cause the copy of JLabel text to the JTextField contents.
In the sample a left click on each displayed label sets a border just to identify the selected status of the labels to drag but there's no implementation of the drop mechanism that should copy all the selected JLabels text to the drop target (the JTextField).

For multiple selections I recommend to use "JList". The "ListTransferHandler" provided in the "DropDemo" sample code supports multiple selections: [http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/dnd/dropmodedemo.html]. To enable MULTIPLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION, simply remove the following statement in the "DropDemo" class:
        list.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION);

Display multilevel BOM for multiple materials

Hi,
I am to trying to display multilevel BOM explosion for multiple BOMs valid to custom date. Then I would like to export this list of all components to Excel.
Best solution would be if to create QuickView to do this.
So far I have been able to Join tables MAST - STPO, this shows me only one level of BOM (sort of like CS03 transaction) not a multilevel view (CS12). Is it possible to modify this to display multilevel view?

Dear Thomas,
in order to have a multilevel Bom explosion you must use only fm : CS_BOM_EXPL_MAT_V2 because you won't succeed to have a multiplevel with a simple query.
I advise you set MEHRS = X for active multilevel logic.

Single Subcon Vendor for multiple Plants - CTM

Dear friends,
We are planning some materials with Subcontracting scenario using CTM
Facing issue when same vendor is executing sub-con process of same material for multiple plants
Total demand of lower level material is flowing to a single plant instead of flowing to the corresponding multiple plants
Because of which excess planning is happening in one unit & no planning is occuring at other units which is leading to a mess
In library, it is provided to proceed with 1050 Location type but not clear on how to proceed further

Now Planning has to happen at dummy location of type 1050 and not at 1011 to transfer demand to correct plant.
Please check following-:
1. If you are using PPm create product in new location of type 1050.
2. Also check whether Tlane is created for components from plant to this new location.
3. Suggest to retransfer all master data including your subcontracting inforecord post creation of location of type 1050.
If you are using PDS product should get created in new location automaticaly.

Data table header facet with multiple components?

I have a data table to which I wish to add buttons to change the sort order of the items displayed. However when I add the 'buttons' to the 'header' facet I get strange results - some components are shown, some are not, and the order they appear seems almost random.
Is the header / footer facet designed only for one component - or can I combine them somehow?
Code snippet is

Yes, you can place it in a panelGrid or panelGroup component.
The following is an excerpt from a book:
TIP: To place multiple components in a table header or footer, you must
group them in an h:panelGroup tag, or place them in a container component
with h:panelGrid or h:dataTable. If you place multiple components in a facet, only the
first component will be displayed.
Thus you could have something like:
