TREX in MSCS ?

Hi Guys
Any experience with TREX-installation in a Microsoft cluster (MSCS) for high availability.
I have searched SAP guides and notes, but have not found any information of TREX-installation i a MSCS. Therefor I now ask you if anyone has reallife experience with such a scenario?

Hi,
Check TREX installation guide. Since your Netweaver is with EHP1. So, install TREX version 7.1.
Also, check SAP Note 1003900 - TREX 7.1 Central note

During the last phase "Install TREX web resources and finalize instance" in installation process of TREX 7.1, it show me a weird error...
It seems that was some problem during the creation of sap start service of this new instance... but that is weird because I checked at services.msc and that service SAPTSM_02 and nothing seems wrong with it, it seems that was well created and it is in Started mode!... I checked firewall settings (all of them are in OFF status), I also checked CUA settings (is stopped)...
I searched for this error and I found the following SDN forum:
SAPNW EHP1 SR1
I already press the retry button but it always show me the same error.
During this phase the SAPInst window show some information and in there I see this two:
creating sap start service of instance TSM/TRX02...
service not correcttly installed.
It is very weird thing!
I will post some log files such as sapstartsrv.exe and sapinst.log.

1).Is your Windows Firwall is enabled ? Disable the windows Firewall and also restart SAPinst
- As I said the windows firewall is disable (OFF)
2). Make sure that <sid>adm belongs to the local admins or Better provide the domain admin rights to the id which you are using for installation if it is domain installation.
- All the created users during this installation belongs to local admins. This isn´t a domain installation!
3). Try Restarting the installation by stopping and starting Windows and restart SAPINST and coninue Old Installation again.
- I already did that... but it continues to show me the same error!
Any other tip?

SAPMMC snap-in could not be created after installing TREX

hi,
We have an WEB AS Java only 640 SP19. There is a gateway instance installed too.
We wanted to install TREX 7.0 on our Windows Server 2003 because TREX 6.1 is not available for 64bit Windows. The installation ran without any errors. But the SAP MMC does not show any Instances at all. There is an error message saying:
MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly.
Name: SAP Systems Manager
CLSID: {633547EE-A302-11D1-AE59-080009B07DBB}
We tried to use older SAPMMC.msc files. But that didn´t help.
Are there any known problems with WebAS 640 and TREX 7.0? In sapnotes we read that it should work.

I don´t get the error messages now and the Central Instance and SCS is showing. But the gateway and TREX instances are not there.
I registered all sapmmc*.dll files and installed the latest sapmmc.msc.

I solved the problem.
The problem was the librfc32.dll in windows/system32. TREX 7.0 changes the version of the librfc32 to Version 7. The gateway and the SAPMMC do not like that and stop working. Gateway Service doesn´t start and the windows event viewer says: "...The following information is part of the event: The dynamic link library librfc32.dll could not be loaded."
We changed the librfc32.dll back to Version 640 and all Instances showed in the SAPMMC after starting the Gateway service manually.
I hope other people with the same problem can solve it with this information.

How to configure one TREX host with multiple index servers ?

Hi All,
Does anyone know how to configure TREX on the one host,
with multiple index servers ?
Reason for this is to make better use of resources available on the host server(4 Gig, 4 Processor, Windows2003), to improve the search performance of
our KM content for portal users.
I am using TREX 7 and have not been able to do this,
despite reading the Single and Distributed install
documentation.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Andres,
To make use of the RAM a Server provides you have to run two indexserver processes (each can then consume 2 GB);
Proceed like this:
1. Go to TREXdeamon.ini; check if section [indexserver2] is there (it is already provided, but not active in standard installation)
2. In TREXdeamon.ini go to
[daemon]
references sections below
programs=nameserver,preprocessor1,indexserver1,queueserver,alertserver
and add indexserver2 here. Restart TREX; second porcess is then started; can be checked in TREX monitor in Portal as well
3. To distribute existing indexes to the new process, start TREXadmintool and go to Index: Landscape
Go to the last two columns and move the indexes (move master here/secondary mouse click)
If you don't distribute the indexes the new index server process will be regarded when an new index is created.

SAP NetWeaver 7.01 Java installation on MSCS and Log shipping for DR

Hi Experts,
Can anyone please explain if below is possible :
- We have installed Netweaver 7.01 Java application server on Microsoft clustering which is working perfectly ok.
-Now we are looking at building a DR solution for the above installation using SQL Server 2008 Log-shipping. The DR site has the same MSCS configuration as the primary site.
-If we log-ship the production database and create a secondary database in "standby" or "norecovery" mode, how do we install a Passive SAP Central instance in case we want to failover from the primary to secondar ?
- We know that we have the primary database log-shipped to the secondary site and in the event of failure we can switch the roles and make secondary as primary and then perform the system copy steps on the MSCS. the drawback here is that it will take a long time to bring the system online if we perform the system copy. Our RTO is one hour only so this is not acceptable.
Question : Is there anyway we can install the Central Services and Applicaiton servers beforehand on the secondary site on the secondary log-shipped database so that in the event of failure all we do is bring the secondary database primary and then start the SAP on the secondary site ?
If yes then can anyone point me the any SAP note or documentation that has the details of how to do this.
I have already looked at 1101017, 965908 but its not clear how we can perform the installation on the JAVA stack only.
We want to implement similar to what is shows in the below diagram :

I did looked at the HA web page from SAP and configured MSCS for HA but there's no information regarding DR setup. All it says is setup a log shiping which we already know but there's no procedure to setup SAP on the DR site(Passive SAP central instance)
My original question still stands :
- Is system copy the only option that we need to perform at the DR site in the event of failure ( Assumption is that we ieve make the secondary database as primary and also sync file system for JAVA using SAN replication technologies)
- We have to achieve an RTO of 1 hour which is not possible in this case as performing system copy using MSCS HA option will take few hours to setup and test.

I have successfully installed ASCS,SCS, and configured 1st MSCS node.
While installaing DB instance on 1st node SAPINST did not allow the physical host name of the node and gave the error oracle was not installed,install oracle before continuing so went ahead with the virtual hostname.I had faced oracle connectivity issues during import ABAP ,I changed the added the physical host name in listener.ora and continued.But durig the import java dump phase I guess the physical host name in expected in secure store key file.I can't edit the secure store file as config tool is not installed yet in the system.Please suggest me solutions and guide me whether I am going in the right direction.

The SAPINST should allow the physical host name to get chosen you should not get this error.
You have to first install the oracle DB and after that Oracle failsafe at both nodes ( not in parallel) . Further while doing the DB instance installation on first node the SAPCLUSTER and ORACLECLUSTER should be online.
Can you mark the steps you did in sequence.

Problem indexing with TREX

Hi guys,
We have some problems with our TREX system. This´s our environment:
- SAP Netweaver 7 - SP17 (SUN Solaris)
- SAP TREX 7 (Windows 2003 server)
- IIS 6 with SSO to File Server (SSO22Kerbmap configured)
The problem is that When indexing process is started, we detected that a lot of documents had preprocessing errors. We have in TREX log the following info for each file error:

- We have some errors in windows log about sso22kerbmap library. The text is 'Application failure: w3wp.exe, version:6.0.3790.3959, module: SSO22KerbMap.dll,version 1.1.0.8 ...'

did you check the following SAP Note ?
SAP Note 735639 - SSO22KerbMap: Known issues
Did you also create an Active Directory User for the user index_service ?

GPEDIT.MSC DO NOT WORK WITH IE11

When accessing the gpedit.msc in a Windows 7 configured tablet, we encountered the following error
after installing IE11: [$(string.Advanced Enable SSL3 Fallback) referenced in attribute displayName could not be found.]
I am unable to apply the enforce full screen mode policy for the kiosk mode because EI11 is no longer under user configuration>administrative templates>Windows components.
The gpedit.msc works find with IE9, the tablet is in a workgroup (standalone).
Any fix for this discrepancy?

Based on my test, for Internet Explorer 11 it still works fine. How did you do that?

Thus Firstly please check if this entry Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Internet Explorer
appear in your Local Group Policy Editor. And then make sure your Internet Explorer version is Internet Explorer 11 without problem.

How to configure trex name server

hi all
while creating index i am getting the error
Index could not be created; creating index failed: TREX Name Server (including back-up servers) is down or not accessable. (Errorcode 7217)
for the above error i need to configure the trex name server using TREX Configuration in the J2EE Engine in j2ee visual administrator .
can any one tell me the clear path that where to configure the above and where j2ee visual administrator installed how to configure the name server

Hi Ganesh,
In order to access the Visual Administrator, go to Start > Programs > SAP J2EE Engine > Visual Administrator. After you login, you will see 2 nodes i.e. Dispatcher and Server. Expand the Server node. Then go to "Services" and expand it. Then go all the way down to "TREX Service". Then on the right hand side, go to the property "nameserver.address" where you will key in "tcpip://<nameserver>:<port>". Then hit "Update" and click on the "Save" button. Then when you go to TRex Monitor, you should be able to see the Name Server running. Hope this helps.

How To Configure TREX Name Server&Port for UDDI Service Registry Settings

Hello Experts,
we are using CE 7.1 SP 4 and I would like to use the trex service in the Service Registry.
I use \NWA\Service Registry Configuration\Service Registry Settings\Keyword Search and want to test the TREX Communication using the Test Connection Button.
If I do so, I receive "Connection to TREX not successful".
When I press the Update TREX button I receive this exception:
com.sapportals.trex.TrexException: TREX Name Server (including back-up servers) is down or not accessable. (Errorcode 7217)
I tried to configure the trex.service with the two parameters: nameserver.address and nameserver.backupserverlist -> tcpip://myhostname.mydomain:30001 (Instance 00).
I am not sure if the port number is correct -> is there a way to lookup the correct port number?
Is there something else I should configure?

One TREX server for multiple Portals?

I have the same requirement as that contained in this thread:

I wonder if anyone can technically elaborate a bit what the procedure for this configuration.
I would have to install a TREX and create a TREX instance for each Portal that I want to give TREX service?
Each instance points to a different host?
My requirement is to use the same TREX to both DEV and QA Portal hosts.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. !!

100% CPU! HALP! w/ Win 8.1 Pro infected by malicious content that reoccurs even after a factory restart. I've tried near everything malwarebytes, win defender, I'm still too new to effectively use MMC, or GPEDIT.MSC,

Some form of malicious content is assaulting my PC's registrys, drivers, along with portraying as other Users, and programs. It's a constant struggle to keep my property, authority, permission under my control over security ownership of my files etc. I
have seen PUP and PUM files in scans, I'm still learning the different forms of malicious content, but I have a feeling there's male-ware, root-kit, and ad-ware that I haven't Identified. Even though my network is private, haven't even created a home-group,
and all my remote access is turned off, but I haven't ruled out someone still being clever enough to access my system/network remotely. I've tried to keep my computer as secure as possible, multiple passwords, and two-step verification I thought I was going
off the deep end when I started to suspect my SYSTEM profile had been compromised. I can't tell if it's a phony, or actually my system taking away everything until I literally cant do a thing on my computer. I didn't want to remove any files that I shouldn't.
When ever I feel that I'm about to lose complete control over my PC I restore it to factory condition, it's about all I can do. Even after 5 restarts it's persistent. I"ve stopped short of using the more extreme programs like Anti-maleware tool Adlice,
RogueKiller, and Combofix. I've actually learned a lot about script, and IS no thanks to my computers new little friends. I've been dealing with this malicious content since december upgrading OS from 7 up to 8.1 has really been the only thing my computer
and I from being completely run over. Some newer up to date advice would be great, I don't want to use out of date or ineffective programs the instructions I've been following are sometimes several years, to at least months old. No point in waisting my time
if the information is irrelevant and out of date. I'll attach some of my reports, and the progams that I have/haven't used yet. I have several MS accounts, from XboX, college, and this old one I was contemplating on putting all three of them in an admin group,
making it more difficult to challenge my authority, or maybe just joining a workgroup/domain would also work. Last night I did use GPEDIT.MSC to disable inheratance, followed by a taking global ownership, if it I actually managed to get GPEDIT.MSC to can't
wait to get my hands I"m kind of enjoying myself though, it's been fun teaching myself IS I always wanted to learn how to use CMD script with proper syntax, I was starting the think that my only solution was to learn command prompt, but there may be a
newer programm that just might work. I've been using reginout, drivertoolkit, MBAM/backup/chameleon, ncleaner, cclearner, and many others. I've scanned but haven't put combofix, roguekiller, or Adlice to the grind stone, I'd probably do more harm not being
