TREX index and document search in 7.0

Hello everyone,
Could someone clarify next question?
Is it possible to use TREX to index CRM 7.0 objects's attachments to search attachment?
And if yes, could you provide me with roadmap and documents?
Thank you in advance!
Michael Wolff

Michael,
Were you able to find the solution. If yes, please provide some information.

    Hi there,
I just read this thread, and maybe someone here can answer my current trex question:
I have created an ordinary CM repository, and created an index with this repository as source. Now the problem: I would like to exclude files in the repository with specific mimetypes from the TREX indexing process.
I have verified that the TrexValidMimetypes.ini does not contain any reference to the Mimetypes I'm creating, but never the less, the document titles are searchable and are returned when searching.
How do I get around this issue?
Is it possible in NW04 or EP6.0 SP3 PXXX??

  • Embedded Search Index AND Document Security?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Standard 8.1.7.
It appears that I cannot have both an embedded search index and restricted security (e.g., password required to change document) on the same document.
    Why is that?
If I start with security ON and then attempt to embed a search index, I get below error message:
A search index can not be embedded in this document because this document has restricted security permissions.
If I start with security OFF, successfully embed a search index, and then secure the document, Acrobat "strips off" the previously embedded search index.  No warning message; no feedback to end-user; just kills it!
Why are those two functions mutually exclusive?  Anyone know of a work-around?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi,
As to "why", that might be floating out there in Adobe's devnet space or in one of the blogs maintained by Adobe's devnet crew.
Also good to know about use of embedded index - if used, cannot apply fast web view to the PDF. It is one or the other, but not both.
Work around? I've not come across one; but, that does not mean something isn't "out there" <g>.
    Be well...

  • Uniqueness and document searches.

I have an application where I need to enforce the uniqueness of an entire document structure. In a relational database, I'd create a unique index across all columns, but I realize that's not really possible using an xml database. Is there any way, other than a linear search across all documents, for me to enforce uniquness of an entire document? The document follows a pretty simple DOM structure, but the tree can be arbitrarily deep (although it tends not to be very deep in most cases)
I was thinking of keeping a separate container as uniqueness index and keeping lists of documents by their MD5 hashes in it, but was hoping there was a more elegant way to go about it.
    Thanks,
    Daniel Peebles

    Hi Daniel,
If you do go the hash route, you could consider storing that as a metadata field right in the XML document (perhaps not hashing on the metadata).
You could then add a Berkeley DB XML Uniqueness Index on the (result of the hash) metadata.
I'm assuming there is no single element in the document that could be a primary key since that would be a better choice.

  • Trex: Indexing a document link.

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to index some document links in my portal but TREX seems not to index. I have a folder with some documents and another folder with links to this documents. The documents have some properties and the links have a diferent type of properties. What I need is to create a taxonomy with the links classified using some of theri properties (not the document properties). When I index the link folder, the crawler return all the files but when I watch the index queue everything is at 0, no file is being proccessed.
    Thanks in advance.

    Gregori,
what is the start condition of your indexes?

  • PDF indexing and multiple searches.

    Dear members:
Please forgive me if my question is rather basic but I haven't been able to find the exact answers I am looking for in order to address my project needs.
I have a folder where I keep all of my PDF files. These are all articles from medical journals that I keep organized using a browser application specific for these types of articles. The application allows me to search these articles but it only looks for specific keywords (title, author name, date, journal name and keyword just to name a few). However, it doesn't look at the content of the PDF file to find words that are contained in the body of the article itself.
I would like to be able to use Acrobat to search these articles and try to find words I am looking for in the entire article instead of being restricted only to keywords. These are the questions I have:
    1. What is the best way to index these PDF files so that they can become searchable ?
    2. Is there a way to find out if they have already been indexed by the publishing company so that I avoid wasting time by doing it again ?
    3. My library now contains approximately 15,000 articles and I expect it to grow to at least 30,000. How can I handle these searches so that performance doesn't become an issue ? Is there a way to ensure that Acrobat can search these number of files without taking a long time ?
    4. I understand from the help files that Acrobat can search an entire folder so I don't have to run my search one article or file at a time. Is this correct ? What is the best way to run my search so that Acrobat looks at all files in one folder ? In this folder I have subfolders (subdirectories) ? Will Acrobat look at all files when searching including those in subdirectories within the specified directory ?
Thank you in advance for your help and replies.
    Best regards,
    Joseph Chamberlaini

After creation the index you need execute next operations.
first, check that your index tables conatins indexed terms. Execute
    select token_text from dr$YOUR_INDEX$i;
Second, you will need to check the index errors table CTX_INDEX_ERRORS. This is owned by the user CTXSYS, and most users do NOT have # SELECT privilege to it by default.
If it's OK, then check that your PDF documents is supported by INSO filter.

    "PDF - Portable Document Format
Acrobat Versions 2.1, 3.0, 4.0, and 5.0 including Japanese PDF"
(Appendix B. Supported Document Formats in Oracle Text Reference 9.2)
For Oracle 9i you could install 9.2.0.4 patchset (it included INSO FILTER 7.5)

  • Index and document name question

First of all, thanks for an XML database that actually works. After trying multiple other DBs, I was finally able to insert my 100000 XML documents and it worked.
I inserted all the documents using dbxml_load_container which uses the filename and DBXML_GEN_NAME and inserts it to the container.
Now for my purpose I will always query a specific document by its name which would be something like:
    $query = "collection('exampleData.dbxml')/*"/*[dbxml:metadata('dbxml:name')=somename]";
(correct me if the query is wrong).
Do I need to create any sort of indexes or anything for such queries? I will never query the container based on some attribute or node value or anything.
    Thank you.

    Hi
Do I need to create any sort of indexes or anything for such queries? I will never query the >container based on some attribute or node value or anything.
unique-node-metadata-equality-string for node {http://www.sleepycat.com/2002/dbxml}:nameYou do not need an index on the document names, as Berkeley DB creates the above index for you.
A query like this will use the index:
    query 'doc("emp1/dbxml_9")/employee'

  • Ssd indexing and mail search

I've mavericks on ssd and I disabled (as interner suggest) indexing on my ssd... but now in mail I cannot use the search function! how can I restore that? do I need to reenable indexing on the drive?

SSD is just a tool for your machine to work faster, smoother, cozier.
Use it. Even if there is a longevity issue, you do keep backups and will get a new SSD when it's needed.
Enjoy the speed while you have it.

  • Trex indexing and Doc Links

    Hi, Gurus.  Another question.
For a section, a folder, so we have about five.  User wants to publish document in more than one section which was resolved by creating a link in second folder.  Searches results resolve to document in original folder, never to link in second folder.  How can I get search results resolving to link in second folder?
    Mahaly

    Hi Mahaly,
Check whether all the folders including those with the links have been indexed.

  • Possible to stop TREX indexing and restart later using queue?

Hi all, has anyone stopped an RSTIRIDX indexing job and then restarted it to continue indexing on TREX using a queue? When I restart the RSTIRIDX job the queue is invalid and cannot resume indexing.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, we have 800-1000 hard drives to churn out in a small period of time with limited space to do so and based on the math.....the only way to achieve that goal is via hard drive replication.
I don't think that's entirely true. You can get an OSD to perform pretty quickly as well. Especially if it's a POS system and not loaded down with tons of "standard" apps like normal desktops are. Not to mention you can implement things like Offline
Servicing and everything to ensure the machine is ready with the latest updates upon completion.
In the short term I was hoping to build a task sequence with the base image, apply drivers and the shutdown. Upon powering on, (post drive replication)I want the task sequence to resume, join the domain, and apply my customizations.
This is essentially what a task sequence does only automated. What are "my customizations"? and why couldn't those just be replicated through a TS?
Is it feasible to insert a command to shutdown during the task sequence and then reasonably expect that when it is turned back on the task sequence will resume?
    Regards,
Doesn't work. When a machine begins a Task Sequence it has a unique ID that SCCM monitors. You can't have 50 come online and have SCCM think they should all run the same "second half" of a Task Sequence.
Honestly, a TS exists to simplify and automate and speed up an already arduous and timely task. I don't see how you could speed it up manually copying hard drives using a driver replicator and call it "faster". You are basically talking about how
they used to "image" machines in the 90's  :-P

  • Build Up new TREX index category and leave old catgory for search requests

    Hello All,
we are using TREX 7.1 in a SAP Netweaver Environment only for a full text search in transaction CV04N. The TREX Server is running on a Unix machine.
But no we have a problem that our current productive index category contains an inconsistent tempterm failure. Because of this failure it might be that the search result list may not contain all documents for the search query
Therefore we have to rebuild our big index in a complete new index category. And because this takes a lot of time we would not have all of our documents searchable in the index.
Now my question: Is it possible to use the existing index category to search after documents whereas a new index category will be build up in an initial and incremental indexing process (BOTH FROM THE SAME SAP SYSTEM)?
    THANKS.
    Christian

    Hi,
Now for the step activate index category enter the search server id TREX_SSR as you have created. keep it as it is.
Then check for the rfc destinations if its fine and the link is made.
Now after that you will create the index category so only refer to the last step(split in multiple to create the index category as in the document).
    Regards,
    Divya

  • Indexing and searching on a web repository -- No document excerpt available

    Hi everybody,
I created a web repository with content of our intranet. I also created a index for this web repository. Everything seems to work fine. But when I search on the index no document excerpt is shown. It says: "No document excerpt available" under each search result.
I think no full text index is performed, where and how can I tell that I want a full text index?
    Thank you in advance, Christoph

    Hi,
Have you solved this problem ?

  • Transporting KM documents and TREX indexes

    Hi,
We are planning to transport KM contents with folder permissions and their asscoiated TREX indexes to a new set of EP-KMC and TREX system.
Can KM migration tool be used for transporting contents from one server to another with permissions.. Or shud we use ICE? Is there any recommended way ?
How do we transport serach indexes from one server TREx installion to another of the same version..
    Any help ?
    Regards
    Bharathwaj

    Hi Bharathwaj,
At the moment, the normal way to transport KM content (including ACL) is the ICE way. There are some known restrictions, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e2/61701deb253242bea2ebeafa190e83/frameset.htm , but if you can live with that, it's the most straight forward way.
I'm unsure if the migration tool can do that / how easy that would be; never used it.
A real KM transport tool will be part of the next major release...
TREX indexes are not transportable at the moment. You have to re-create them on the target system.
    Hope it helps
