TREX Index creation help for Bex Portfolio folders

Hi
I have created a TREX search index on a folder structure within our BI Bex Portfolio. The problem that I am enountering is that the index will only pick up documents and links created within these folders and it does not seem to index publshed links to queries by users using the broadcasting features of query designer. Does anybody know why this is and how to get it to also pick up these BW objects?

The TREX should be able to index the titles (cm_displayname) of the links. Do you know if the titles of the links are searchable?
But I dont think the content can be indexed, unless you publish the reports as pdf-files instead of links, because the TREX cannot reproduce the report and index it afterwards. The TREX cannot index (crawl) javascript for instance, because it cannot perform that kind of client-like behaviour.

Trex Index Creation Error

Hi everybody,
Trying to create a nex index (the first one) using the index Administration iview I get the following error:
Index could not be created; creating index failed: general configuration error (Errorcode 2030)
I also obtain the same errorcode running the python script runInstallationTest.py
Everything looks fine in the portal trex monitor (all green lights)
Any help would be very apprecieated.

Reason and Prerequisites
You have installed TREX 6.1 SP9/SR1 and cannot create an index. The returned message in trace files is like the following: Cannot create allConfig.
Solution
Add the TREX-User to administrotors group:
Choose from Control Panel/Administrative Tools the Computer Management Tool.
Navigate to System Tools/Local Users and Groups
Under users select the TREX-user with right click and choose properties.
In the Member Of tab add the administrators group.
But the installation guide recommends on page 24: "We recommend not giving the user administrative
permissions for security reasons.
If the group sapsys is available, we recommend that you
assign this group to the user."
Sapsys is not available, I think I will try with David's approach.

F4 help for BEx variables

Hi!
Could anyone help me in implementation the following scenario:
I have the BEx variable available for input. Then users press F4 to view possible values for this variable, I need to output the certan list of values (the list is defined by quite complex logic - user algorithm).
So, Do I have the possibility to catch the SAP processing of F4 help and program my logic for the output list (some kind of exit)?
Please suggest any decision or the source of information according this issue.

Values not available for iput help (for Bex)

Hi Friends,
When I am trying to give a value as input for a Bex query. I am getting a validation error saying that the value is invalid. For example:I had given YDRP_Y01 as the input for executing the query. It is giving an error that the YDRP_Y01 is not a valid value.
I am having these values in the underlying multiprovider for the same infoobject. When i am trying for input help by pressing F4, even then i am not able to find these objects.
Somebody please help me in resolving the issue.

check Master data of that infoobject, whether it contains value "YDRP_Y01". when selecting F4, data come from Infoprovider or master data according the selection made at infoprovider or infoobject.

ABAP code help for Bex broadcasting by event!

I'm trying to broadcast a report for a specific time period as per factory calendar. I tried using System Time Point :RSRD_BROADCAST_FOR_TIMEPOINT but its not showing when In the broadcaster when I put restriction of factory calendar so i followed below link: Broadcasting timepoint scheduled after an event and created a PC to start after event and created variant for RSRD_BROADCAST_STARTER setting ID as my Bes broadcast setting technical name.
When I trigger the event its processed and report emailed to me as I expected. Now I want to run this (Trigger) this event every Wed day after fisc quarter close. I wrote the below logic in se38 PROGRAM. But Now I need little help on how to trigger /run only on wed days after fisc quarter close ? Please update the below code or guide me on how to achieve this.

in your ABAP code try this,
calculate whether current date falls after fiscal year quarter. If so then check whether its a Wednesday and call the event raise FM. You can schedule this program in background daily basis.
Use this FM for day calculation DATE_TO_DAY.
This FM for converting sy-datum to fiscal year/period - FI_PERIOD_DETERMINE,DATE_TO_PERIOD_CONVERT

F4 Value Help for Bex Variable (BRAIN646)

Hi ,
I set a authorization variable which allow user to select in a Bex query . When I run query and click value help on that variable, the system keep send a warning msg like :
Value if variable ZVAPLAMS is automatically converted
Message no. BRAIN646
Is there any way to suppress this warnning msg?

Hi Sims,
I had also the same Problem (BRAIN 646). I've debugged the Query with transaction rsudo -> Execute User as "User with warning" -> Possible Transaction "RSRT" -> Start Transaction.
The Transaction RSRT is opened and you can now debug your Query by klicking on "Execute + Debug" -> Expand "Variables" and activate "Customer Exit Variable (Before)".
Don't forget to enter your Queryname.
You are in Debuging-Mode and set Break-Points (see screenshots)
1. Set break-point on FORM VALUE_FROM_AUTHORITY_FILL then F8 and get in with F5
2. Set break-point on IF l_i1 <> l_i2. then F8 and you get your cursor on IF l_i1 <> l_i2.
You may see, if internal tables "l_i1" and "l_i2" have the same count of rows. If not take a look at "l_i1", if there Interval value exist, if internal value do exist. If interval values do exist and in "l_i2" doesn't than you have replace your variable " ZVAPLAMS" with another Variable (selection option). It has to be "Selection Option", than only selection option variable accept single values and interval values.

Help for photography portfolio

Hey guys,
I am attempting to make a portfolio. I would like to put pictures in an iframe, and have the viewers scroll left and right to view my photos. I can get one picture in the iframe, but I'm not sure how to add another. Here is what I have so far:

You could place a lot of pictures on one page that is linked to your iframe. then when the iframe opens people can scroll down in the page to see all your photos on the page.

I need to change the search help for variable of characteristic in BEx. When I look search help of data element for characteristic it is another search help than I see in BEx dialog. How can I edit search help for BEx, where can I set it?

If your characteristic is reference of another one, the search used is the search used for referenced char.

TREX Index not searching all entries in KM folders

Hi
I am having an issue with some links\documents that are not being indexed by my TREK search service. I have an index setup and the folders and links that are manually created are indexed properly and can be searched. The issue is for online links that get published by users\developers of BEx queries via the BEx broadcaster. Does anybody know how to resolve this problem or a workaround? The optimal case would be for all links and folders to be searchable regardless if they are created manually in KM or are published via online link by the broadcaster in query designer to the KM folder.

Folders are not visible in BEx Portfolio tab of Save As popup window

Hi All,
when I try to save a report in BEx Web Analyzer by open Save As popup window, I can't see any folders in neither of Favorites, BEx Portfolio nor My Portfolio tabs, even though I've created some directories in "/documents/Public Documents" for example. I can only see the list of already saved reports.
What needs to be done to be able to the folders in Save As (or Open) popup window?

Do you wish to know more about BEx Portfolio or all these items?
That help link explains many things, in addition to that...
New Analysis is the new as-hoc navigation, created by slicing and dicing in the query/wad output.
Open is opening of already saved navigation created earlier.
Save as is for specifying where you wish to save your present state of navigation so that later you don't have to drill down and filter again.
Information is about query, filters and other technical details about the query.
Send is used for broadcasting reports. (you'll find many docs about broadcasting on SDN)
Print is a button with PDFprint. In WAD you can select item on your layout to be printed.
Export Excel is for taking data to an excel file for more cell level analysis (Finance ppl love that)
Comments is another web item for putting comments from users on info object level for that particular report.
Saving can be done at various please and same way open will show you those locations on tabs favorites,BEx Portfolio,My portfolio. These portfolios are on Portal side, created as different folders. According to your user rights accessibility you can see those view in your portal login.

Help needed in index creation and its impact on insertion of records

Hi All,
I have a situation like this, and the process involves 4 tables.
Among the 4 tables, 2 tables have around 30 columns each, and the other 2 has 15 columns each.
This process contains validation and insert procedure.
I have already created some 8 index for one table, and an average of around 3 index on other tables.
Now the situation is like, i have a select statement in validation procedure, which involves select statement based on all the 4 tables.
When i try to run that select statement, it takes around 30 secs, and when checked for plan, it takes around 21k memory.
Now, i am in a situation to create new index for all the table for the purpose of this select statement.
The no.of times this select statement executes, is like, for around 1000 times of insert into table, 200 times this select statement gets executed, and the record count of these tables would be around one crore.
Will the no.of index created in a table impacts insert statement performace, or can we create as many index as we want in a table ? Which is the best practise ?
Please guide me in this !!!

Hi,
index creation will most definitely impact your DML performance because when inserting into the table you'll have to update index entries as well. Typically it's a small overhead that is acceptable in most situations, but the only way to say definitively whether or not it is acceptable to you is by testing. Set up some tests, measure performance of some typical selects, updates and inserts with and without an index, and you will have some data to base your decision on.

What version of the database?
Creating indexes in parallel is described in the documentation. Search the on-line documentation for the syntax for create index; if there aren't any specific examples of creating indexes in parallel do a Google search for "create index parallel"
