TREX – Indexed information by document type

Hi,
Where can i find documentation about what properties TREX indexes for each document type?
For example:
- Each word document has the following properties (Title, Subject, Author, Manager, Company, Category, Comments Keywords, …). The PDF documents have similar properties. Is this information indexed by TREX?
My question is related with AutoCAD documents. These documents contain legend information, and need to know if this information is indexed by TREX and can be used to search?
Thanks and regards,
John

  • Ultra Search Indexer: Adding 'alien' document types.

The way the Ultra Search indexer finds src material will not work in my situation. While I may be able to give it databases to crawl, it cannot crawl our content, so the way that you tell the indexer about 'alien' document types by adding custom code to return lists of URLs so the indexer can read the src documents won't work in my scenario.
I want to know what the Ultra Search application does special when indexing documents?
Is there a description so I can reproduce using Oracle Text and perhaps point the Ultra Search querying component against my manufactured repository and have it work?
    Thanks.

Is there a way to set up finder search with additional criteria so that it isolates file extensions with .docx, .pdf, .txt all in one single search?
currently the "kind is document" also brings up .jpgs and .wavs which I dont want, (or consider documents).

  • Getting SES to index unknown document types in UCM?

    Hi
We have a SES set up to crawl/index a Oracle UCM, and when configuring the crawler source we can define which document types it should crawl/index. It makes sense that SES only knows how to index the content of some known document types, but why can SES not index any document type without looking inside the actual document? I mean, it is possible to upload any document type in UCM and give it UCM specific metadata like title and so on, and it should be easy for SES to index these UCM metadata for unknown document types also.
How can I get SES to crawl/index all unknown document types?
    Thank you
    Søren

I've checked with our UCM connector expert, and he says all document types are passed from UCM to SES.
So hopefully it should be just a matter of editing the crawler.dat file (found in $ORACLE_HOME/search/data/config)
You would need to add a MIMEINCLUDE line for the mimetype of the documents you want included - if you're not sure what the mimetype is for any document, you can usually see it in the crawler log file.
You'd also need to check that the document suffix is not in the list:
    # default file name suffix exclusion list
RX_BOUNDARY (?i:(?:\.jar)|(?:\.bmp)|(?:\.war)|(?:\.ear)|(?:\.mpg)|(?:\.wmv)|(?:\.mpeg)|(?:\.scm)|(?:\.iso)|(?:\.dmp)|(?:\.dll)|(?:\.cab)|(?:\.so)|(?:\.avi)|(?:\.wav)|(?:\.mp3)|(?:\.wma)|(?:\.bin)|(?:\.exe)|(?:\.iso)|(?:\.tar)|(?:\.png))$You can edit this list to remove any suffixes that you do want included.

  • No document type defined  in mapping rule

    Hi,
Information on document type is need to be loaded from SAP R/3 to BCS for reporting purpose. Customised doc type with assigned role - subassignment already defined. Problem is i still don't see the document type (fiels) for selection in mapping rule (under load from data stream).
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.
    Regards, Renee

Due to reporting requirement, there are certain GLs need to be filter futher by doc type. As long as the document type is successfully extracted from SAP R/3 to BW BCS and filtering is defined in BE Analyzer, i don't need to display it in the report.
Anyway, customised document type already created and doc type can be extracted from SAP R/3. tq

  • TREX doesn't index some PDF documents ...

    Hello all,
we have installed EP'04s and TREX ver. 7.00.42.00. It works well except one thing. TREX is not able to index some PDF documents. Most of them is indexed correctly but some documents not. Actually the problematic PDF documents are indexed but their content is not. In search result is displayed message "No document excerpt available" for the documents.
I found SAP Note 622419 that could relate with that but I don't know how can I check:
    1. What encoding was used in particular PDF form.
    2. What fonts or what font types were used in particular PDF form.
Do you have any idea how to find out these information about a document? Or do you know where could be problem when TREX are able to index content of just some PDF documents?
    Regards,
    Zbynek

Thank you, that was what I needed.
So now I know the test PDF document use only TrueType fonts. That means its content should be indexable for TREX but it isn't. There is just message "No document excerpt available" for this document in search results.
Could someone look at the document and try to index it? It can be downloaded from http://www.volny.cz/kabrtz/TREX/indexing_test.pdf

    Hello,
You are trying to Print & also archive by selecting the option Print & Archive.
You have to do archivelink configurations and then create document type and assign to the object type with content repository with archivelink table.
If you want to archive the spool or output then you have to use object type as DRAW. If you are archiving invoice document or letters or so on then you have to know the object type/Business object of the transaction.
Please note that for archivelink configuration, attachment will be either stored in archive server or in SAP database table based on business requirement.
Hope this will give you some understanding on archiving area.

  • Document type 107 - Full Text indexing

    Hello,
We have a custom crawler that is using docfetch to look at plain text documents. In the crawler code, we set the document type like this :
    metaData.ContentType = "text/html";
But the document type always comes out as 107 (zip/exe)
Am I doing something wrong here? How can I properly set the document type so that the full text indexer can work?
    ~Kevin.

    Hi ,
When the above steps are completed , restart server . After  that from check-in screen you would see the following option :
    Format
This is a drop-down list which where you can select application/noindex , so that the content item is not sent for FT indexing . It is only metadata indexed .
The list is seen only when the following option is checked from Administration - Admin Server - General Configuration
Enable Allow Override format on check-in
    Hope this helps .
    Thanks,

  • Transporting KM documents and TREX indexes

    Hi,
We are planning to transport KM contents with folder permissions and their asscoiated TREX indexes to a new set of EP-KMC and TREX system.
Can KM migration tool be used for transporting contents from one server to another with permissions.. Or shud we use ICE? Is there any recommended way ?
How do we transport serach indexes from one server TREx installion to another of the same version..
    Any help ?
    Regards
    Bharathwaj

    Hi Bharathwaj,
At the moment, the normal way to transport KM content (including ACL) is the ICE way. There are some known restrictions, see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e2/61701deb253242bea2ebeafa190e83/frameset.htm , but if you can live with that, it's the most straight forward way.
I'm unsure if the migration tool can do that / how easy that would be; never used it.
A real KM transport tool will be part of the next major release...
TREX indexes are not transportable at the moment. You have to re-create them on the target system.
    Hope it helps

  • Document Types in use

Is there an easy way to retrieve all the document types which are stored in the portal km?(example .xls, .doc etc)

    Hello Thomas,
you have the possibility to make an advanced search with the KM Search iView. Within the advanced search you can change the value from <i>Items</i> to <i>documents</i>. The result page shows only documents to which the index or indexes are pointing. If you do not have an index, you have to create one. You can create an index by navigating to <i>System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Index Administration</i>.
After creating the index you have to flush it. Navigate to <i>System Administration -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> TREX Monitor -> Display Queue Status</i>. Select your index and press flush.
If you want to customize your KM Search iView, refer to this document

  • Portal Search Not Working - Only Returns Portal Content, Not TREX Indexes

I have configured two indexes using the portal.  One is for documents that reside on the portal, and the other one is for a website that we have configured in TREX using Cruiser.  The TREX Admin console shows that the website information has been indexed.  However, when I search on a word in Portal, only the portal contents are displayed.  Is there a different search field for looking up TREX/indexed files?  I'm using the search field that's on the front page of the portal.  Also, both indexes belong to the same index group.  I did use the serach feature built-in to TREX Admin to verify that there were documents stored in the index.

    Hi there,
I just read this thread, and maybe someone here can answer my current trex question:
I have created an ordinary CM repository, and created an index with this repository as source. Now the problem: I would like to exclude files in the repository with specific mimetypes from the TREX indexing process.
I have verified that the TrexValidMimetypes.ini does not contain any reference to the Mimetypes I'm creating, but never the less, the document titles are searchable and are returned when searching.
How do I get around this issue?
Is it possible in NW04 or EP6.0 SP3 PXXX??
    Regards,
    Hco

  • This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type

Okay...so I have 6 errors - all the same and has to do with my document type.
I've searched the code and I am using a transitional doc type so why the errors?
    http://02cada7.netsolhost.com/Stasik_Family_Website/index.html

Yeah I did that...but the cause doesn't make sense to me.
You have used the attribute named above in your document, but the document type you are using does not support that attribute for this element. This error is often caused by incorrect use of the "Strict" document type with a document that uses frames (e.g. you must use the "Transitional" document type to get the "target" attribute), or by using vendor proprietary extensions such as "marginheight" (this is usually fixed by using CSS to achieve the desired effect instead).
This error may also result if the element itself is not supported in the document type you are using, as an undefined element will have no supported attributes; in this case, see the element-undefined error message for further information.
How to fix: check the spelling and case of the element and attribute, (Remember XHTML is all lower-case) and/or check that they are both allowed in the chosen document type, and/or use CSS instead of this attribute. If you received this error when using the <embed> element to incorporate flash media in a Web page, see the FAQ item on valid flash.
I'm not using a strict document time - I am using transitional and I am not using proprietary extensions.

  • In Trex where does the documents reside ?

We have Enterprise portal and use TREX for collaboration rooms and document indexing. EP is a java only Netweaver stack on AIX and TREX is on a window box. What I wanted to know is where do the actual documents, which TREX indexes reside?
Does Trex retain a copy of the indexed document? For a particular index where is the mapping of the actual document? Where can I look at all this data?
    Pls advise.
    thank you
    regards
    Laxmi

    Hello Kai,
documents original location is transparent on KM, whether it is on a external repository or not doesn't matter,
for KM and TREX it is part of repository manager (configured at System Administration > System Configuration >
Knowledge Management > Content Managenement > Repository Managers).
Once a repository manager is activeted, there are several services running on top of it, eg.: subscription, rating,
etc. and other global services which affects every repository. Crawler service and Index Management are the
global services which will do indexing work
In fact TREX doesn't look for documents, the crawler is the component that retrieves the documents and
deliver for TREX. Have in mind that the crawler is part of KM, not TREX. It is active for every repository,
you can check on the monitor at System Administration > Monitoring
    for more information: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/fb/38ef207d0a47ee9dc08deeed855392/frameset.htm
once documents are retrieved by the crawler and is at TREX hands, it will index normally, it uses
a file system based architecture, if you browse through TREX server you can find the indexes you have
created as folders and documents information inside. Be careful when checking at file system level, data
there is designed for TREX work only, it doesn't serve as backup and can't be considered for any
    other functioning.
    kind regards,
    Rafael

  • How to extend TREX index?

    Hi All,
does anyone know is it possible to extend TREX index with a new column?
I want to do that to search TREX for documents that have specific date.
1.I'd like to add a new column with type dats.
2.Then fill this column with data by select to database (usr02 table) - is it possible to extend query of a
search engine service that replicates the business objects from the database into the TREX index?
3.And finally extend the search query from e-Recruiting to TREX index that the index returns only documents for which a value in my new column is set as required.
    Thanks for any help.
    Lukasz

    Hi,
    thanks for response.
I finally added a new column to search index for TREX, this column is standard LAST_CHANGED_BY.
Having this column in index I'm able to find out what is the name of the user, who changed the document indexed in trex. When I have the user, I also have form USR02 last login date for the user.
Now the dificult is how to add to search query for TREX a username that refers to my LAST_CHANGED_BY in index.
I've found a method (ADD_FILTER_ATTR) in search manager (CL_HRKWF_SEARCH_MANAGER) interface that ads attributes to query. I've added there a few usernames, but searching result is 0.
So now, I'm trying to find out how to properly add attribute - username to search query for TREX.
