TREX Preparation Failed exception
Hello All,
I am facing an issue with TREX wherein the documents not being indexed properly.
The TREX monitor shows all status as green but when I check the 'Display Queue Entries' from
System Admin -> Monitoring -> Knowledge Management -> TREX Monitor, I see a message as:
Return Code = 6500
Return Message = HTTP Status Code 500: Internal Server Error
Document status = Preparation failed.
Please guide me to resolve this.
Awaiting Reply.

Ritu
Hello Martin,
Please excuse me for my late reply.
I created a test repository, created an index for it called Test_Index, attached it with a KM Data Source, uploaded 3 .txt files. All these txt files have size within 10 KB.
1. When I search using this Test_Index, it does not return any txt file. There are few indexes, so I selected my index to search.
I could successfully open the text file on the browser.
2. Checked DefaultTrace logs and found exception related to another index. Details are:
TaxonomyNamespaceManager.getChildren: Error because the index with name Rama_test1 is not available. Probably you have to delete old taxonomy data in the taxdata repository - com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException: index with index id Rama_test1 doesn't exist!
But 'Rama_test1' index does exist. It is available when I click on 'Show Options -> Search Scope'
on Search page.
3. We also have an index which is connected to 'Livelink' system.
I get an exception for this, saying - the repository returned no root collection (null): livelink
4. com.sapportals.wcm.repository.IOErrorException: sending PROPFIND to remote server
at com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException.fillInStackTrace(ResourceException.java:399)
5. Lastly, I see an exception with severity=fatal saying:
exc: /SalesManual - com.sapportals.wcm.repository.InvalidUriException: Invalid RID: No repository manager found for prefix: /SalesManual
* at com.sapportals.wcm.repository.ResourceException.fillInStackTrace(ResourceException.java:399)*
Location: com.sapportals.wcm.service.reporting.walker.HierarchyWalker
Any ideas on these?
Awaiting Reply.

Ritu

Trex: Preparation failed: index operation
Hi gurus,
We have a Trex 7.0 server working on a seperate server. When I look at Index Administration, the statuses of the indexes are all green. But when i look at the indexing monitor, one of our indexes is in red status, It says Indexed:13342, Errors: 15610.
When I click on the Errors link, It says: "Trex: Preparation failed: index operation".
I searched the trace files but couldn't find sthg useful.
Any suggesstions?
TolgaHi Tolga,
please check your installation with the information mentioned by Jochen Goeeninger (long post) in the following thread Trex HTTP Server not seen in Portal
Furthermore try to open one of the documents you are trying to index via HTTP from the TREX Server.
With the result of that, I would suggest to open support message under http://service.sap.com/message
Hope this helps,

TREX: Preparation Failed in document index
Hi,
I have defined an index with one datasource and I get an error in 317 documents, while 204 documents are OK.
Error are due to 6401 code error (HTTP Status Code 401 : Unauthorized) but I don't know how to solve it. Everyone has full control to datasource (is a development environment).
Any suggestion?
Thanks and best regards!

TREX: Preparation Failed with return code 14047
Dear all,
For files bigger than 15 MB Indexing is not happening. Document status is "Preparation Failed".
We are on EP 7.0 SP 16, TREX 7.0.
How can we solve this problem?
Best Regards,
Aparnna PrasadDear Aparnna,
please check the version of the TREX you use (file TREXVersion.html). If the TREX is older than Rev 30 update to the newest one because of the new filters version.
Correct the following:
go to the /usr/sap/<SID>/TRX<Nr>/exe (you need to set the TREX environment with TREXSettings.sh first) and execute :
filter.x <file name> <otuputfilename.htm> for example:
filter.x /path/to/file.xls /path/to/file.xls.htm
What's the size of the output file? If it's more than 20 MB
please increase parameter maxfiltersize (TREXFilter.ini) and index document again.

TREX preprocessing failed, HTTP Status Code 401
Hello everybody!
I'm using SAP NetWeaver 7.0 (2004s), TREX 7.0 on Win2003 Server.
I'm trying to index files, but it doesn't work for files bigger than 10KB. I know that for these documents > 10KB only the URI is transmitted to TREX. So it seems the problem is based on the communication between TREX and portal.
Error messages:
TREX monitor: preprocessing failed, error number: 6401, error message: HTTP Status Code 401: Unauthorized
Indexmonitor: Trex: Preparation failed: index operation
- all TREX server status icons are green.
- I'm not using any SSL communication.
- indexing doesn't work for any data sources, neither web repositories nor KM content.
- I've checked the host and alternative host parameter in the URL generator service (both http://<myservername>:50100).
- I am able to access the URL of the resource directly.
- I've added the "unescape_url=no" entry in the TREXPreprocessor.ini like SAP Note 650521 says.
- my system ID is properly set.
- the password of user index_service does not expire.
Does anybody have any further ideas?
Many thanks in advance
Steffi, working on it for days...Hello Robert and Steffi,
With the help of SAP support, I could solve the problem !
Certificate for SAPLogonTickets had expired, so authentication was no longer possible. Solution : recreated the certificates with Visual Admin.
In Visual Admin, go to "Key Storage" service, then choose "TicketKeystore" view.
Delete SAPLogonTicketKeypair and SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert certificates (or rename them in a first time).
Then recreate "SAPLogonTicketKeypair" :
- fill the Entry Name with "SAPLogonTicketKeypair",
- fill "Common Name" with the value from the previous ticket
- check "Store Certificate" (this will automatically create SAPLogonTicketKeypair-cert)
- choose "DSA" as Algorithm
and click on "Generate"
That worked fine for us on two platforms.
Hope that gonna help...

Preparation failed in trex when using standard Who's who iview
Hi,
I have encountered a problem with the standard Who's who iview, which makes a simple search in the ume impossible.
All users "preparation fails" with the following error from Trex monitor > Display queue entries:
Document ID: /ume/users/USER.PRIVATE_DATASOURCE.un%3Ar5mas.usr, Return Code: 16040, Return Message: SSL: rc=-40 pse_error, Document Status: Prepration failed, Action: Index, Retry Count: 3.
I'm working on Netweaver '04, stack 9, installed from rapid installer.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Martin

Trex Monitor - Preparation Failed
Hi,
I have configured a file system repository that I'm trying to index. I have installed KM Pack 3, and the crawler is working fine. But in indexing all the documents fail. Here are the queue details, same for all documents.
Return Code: 13502
Return Message: HTTP-Proxy: BadGateway
Document Status: Preparation Failed
Action: Index
Retry Count: 3
The repository seems to be working, as in I can access the files of the repository from the KM Content Tab.
Any ideas as to what am i doing wrong?
Regards,
HarshHi Nick,
I have also came across a similar type of problem.
In my case some of the documents are getting Indexed,
while few has status as "preparation failed."
Here are the exact error details:

<b>16057</b> <u>SSL: rc=-57 ssl_connect </u> <b>Prep. Failed </b> <u>Index </u> <b> 3</b>

Do you have any idea what could be the reason?

Preparation failed: Indexing error
Dear All
We have one file system repository on which an index has been created and data sources and Taxonomy created. When we search for the documents in the repository , it says "No documents found" .
If i check the "Indexing Monitor" ,there is a "Preparation failed error" for the Index with return code "Preprocessor: failed".
Another index created is working fine.
Can you please let me know if i am missing on something and how to go about solving this error.
Regards
JayeshHi Jayesh,
please check if you comply with all in the following thread:
Trex HTTP Server not seen in Portal
(the long post by Jochen Goeeninger)
And please try to open one of the documents you are trying to index via HTTP from the TREX Server.
With the result of that, please log a support message under http://service.sap.com/message
Regards,
Karsten -
Verification of prerequisites for Active Directory preparation failed
We currently have Windows Server 2003 SBS, SP2, Domain Controller. Would like to add Windows Server 2012, Standard, 64-bit as a backup domain controller.
"Verification of prerequisites for Active Directory preparation failed. Unable to perform Exchange schema conflict check for domain sxxxx.local.
Exception: The RPC server is unavailable.
Adprep could not retrieve data from the server name.xxxxx.local through Windows Managment Instrumentation (WMI).
[User Action]
Check the log file ADPrep.log in the C:\Windows\debug\adprep\logs\20130417103902-test directory for possible cause of failure."
What the log says is really:
"Adprep encountered a Win32 error. Error code: 0x6ba Error messa The RPC server is unavailable."
Can anyone has similar experience shred some lights to troubleshoot this? Have reviewed
other links that have similar probems but that doesn't help.
Many Thanks!Of course I CANNOT remove Symnatec as Meinolf suggests. That would be out of my mind!! I tried to stop all their services though which doesn't help. I know this has nothing to do with Symantec. Here comes another test, the final one:
Test 8
This article is really good as it concludes very thoroughly about the problems about "800706BA - RPC Server Is Unavailable" and other WMI query issues:
http://goo dot gl/l2iha
I started looking at he ISA 2004 on our SBS 2003.
Tried to disable the RPF Filter:
a. Open Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004
b. Go to Configuration > Add-in and location RPC Filter on the right side, right-click on it and select Properties, uncheck 'Enable this filter'
c. Hit Apply....
d. Now I go back to Windows 7 and test the WMI query.
The result: it WORKS!
e. Next, I tried that on the Windows Server 2012 like so:
c:>wmic /node:sbs2003servername computersystem list brief /format:list
It also works!
f. Next also on Windows Server 2012, I continued on what was left over. I did the "Rerun prerequisites check " and no surprise - "All prerequisite checks passed successfully. Click 'Install' to begin installation"!
Well that concludes the problem of installing Windows Server 2012 (standard) as a backup domain controller to a Windows SBS 2003 domain controller and the troubleshooting process that finally led to a solution that solves my problem. Thanks for all
the discussions over the web. Every bit counts!
Well if this helps you in some way, give me some points to buy beer! I am going to have a drink with Bill, Cheers! -
Weblogic Deployment - Prepare Failed
I am getting a strange problem. If I deploy my .jar/.ear file on weblogic server
without
running ejbc/appc first I get error that PREPARE FAILED. If I run ejbc/appc
on my command prompt first on my .jar/.ear file and after that deploy the resulting
.jar/.ear file then it gets deployed correctly. I suppose that while deploying
weblogic server also runs the compiler to check the compliance if it has not
been already run. But why do I get error in this case when everything seems to
be alright?
Also the eror occurs after about 50 seconds have elapsed when weblogic server
is deploying the application.I suspect the problem is your server doesn't have javac in its path.

Hi All
Please help me with the following query. We are migrating SAP BW 7.4 on Oracle to HANA. We have few WEBI report's universes built on BEx queries. In one of those reports there are some hidden RKFs, these works perfectly fine in reports based on oracle. Now we migrated to HANA in development system and when i refresh the universe structure they started giving errors like "Parse failed: Exception DBD, The supplied XML is not valid[Measures].[SAP_OBJECT_NAME] State:N/A". The object giving this error is in hidden state. I tried to unhide it and run the report then it runs fine but that not the client want as there might be so many hidden KFs in other reports also. BO version is 4.1 SP 2. We are on SAPKW74006 support package on BW side. Is there any notes to correct this error. Please pass me the relevant links. Highly appreciate your help.
Thanks
DwarakaDCA-40012: The Web Service call failed. A connection to the target Web Service could not be created.
First of all test the web service you have created in model project. Right click the web service name and select "Test WebService". If you see any issue(s) while testing fix it first before you run the jspx page.
Check the port number in the URL and connections.xml, it have to be same. -
I received the following error when I gave the following statement in select:
case when {fn_year(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START)} @prompt('Enter Year','N',,mono,free)
then 1 else 0
end
Parse failed: Exception: DBD, [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver] Syntax Error or access violationState: 42000
I looked at differnt forums but could not fnd the error.Sams Latin
then try this:
CASE
WHEN YEAR(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START) = @Prompt('Enter Year','N',here give class/object or LOV's,mono,free) THEN 1 ELSE 0
END
Note: In case of Date , you can make it blank (3rd parameter), which gives you calendar at runtime.
I suggest you try it in step by step like:
>> @Prompt('Enter Year','N',here give class/object or LOV's,mono,free)
Parse it, succeed. Then
>> YEAR(FINANCE_PERIOD.FP_START)
Parse it, then
for each case see LOV's.
>> at last, try above CASE WHEN
Hope it solves you.

Call up the security settings for the browser: Choose Tools ® Internet Options ® Security ® Custom Level in the menu bar. Make the following settings:
Download signed ActiveX controls = Enable
Download unsigned ActiveX controls = Disable
Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe = Disable
Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins = Enable

[Solved] Pacman preparation failed
I'm trying a new installation from a USB key and it fails on the Package Selection phase. The error message I get on tty7 is:
Execute(): worker_package_list exit state was 1
More info:
- arch is x86_64
- I'm installing from a USB stick on a laptop that has been running x32 arch for at least a year (it's a core2 cpu)
- I've checked and double-checked the md5sum of the iso and the image on the stick
- I'm using a core iso - no network access
- I select the local core repo when running aif
- I can see all the packages in /repo/core/x86_64/{core,any}
- I've read the aif bash scripts but so far I've been unable to see what the problem might be
I've read all I've found about the subject (there are many threads on this problem), but nothing that describes my exact situation; nothing has helped me. If somebody has any pointers, I'll be grateful!
-- buo
P.S: I've solved this problem; here's the solution in case anyone else encounters something similar. My drive was already partitioned and formatted, so I was telling aif to leave it alone. After I allowed it to reformat the root partition, the problem went away.
