  • Multiple TREX systems with one portal

    Hi all,
is there any possibility to connect more than one TREX system to a SAP Netweaver portal. Help and all other documents I found always talk about entering the name server into nameserver.address and it seems to me, that this is no multi value field.
We have a TREX system in place that does all the indexing regarding conten of the portal and connected third party systems. In addition there will be a second TREX system to index our content management system. Of course I know that it is possible to set up multiple hosts within one TREXsystem but the installation guide has several notes that indicate it might not work with the scenario and hardware we are having in place.
As far as I understand there is no chance to directly address the TREX web server from a portal I always have to go via name server. Any help or hint would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    Holger Müller

I have implemented TREX 7.1 64-bit on a cluster (note that SAP doesn't support this). I have installed the first TREX on server1 and the second in server2. I have to do lot of registry tweaking in Windows sever 2003 to point these guys to the shared SAN storage.
I am using one as a master and second as a slave. So, I am getting high-availability for both search and also indexing.
I am using server1 as a primary name server address and server2 as secondary in Visual Administrator. Let me know if you need more info.

  • How many TREX systems do I need?

How many TREX systems do I need?
    1 for non-production and 1 for production?
    1 for all systems?
    dev->tst->prd ?
    any help would be appreciated

Depending on the size and the activity in DEV and QAS, generally one server would be sufficient, just be sure to put a decent amount of RAM into the server (by decent I mean around 16).  You can have both sets of indexes on one TREX instance, and the majority of time, no one knows the difference.
Here's the caveat, though.  If you're going to be testing with hundreds of users in QA, all performing searches at the same time, then you might want to split them up.
Also, depending on the number of documents and searches in production, you might consider a distributed approach there, as well.
    Thank you.

  • TREX not indexing Excel files

    Hi all,
We are getting the following error when trying to index some MS Excel files:
14011 - Filter: The file is password protected or encrypted
We are using TREX 7.10 rev 34.
We have found that the cause of this is when the Excel file has been set to protect the worksheet with a password (in Excel, go to Tools -> Protection -> Protect Workbook -> set password). It seems odd to me that TREX cannot index a file like this because it should be able to open it. I would think that it only would have problems if it were trying to write to the file (which it is not trying to do).
Does anyone have any ideas as to why it's like this or what can we do about this other than remove the workbook password? We have dozens of files like this, and I need to find a solution other than removing the password.
    Thanks!
    -StephenS

    Hi Stephen,
I couldn't find any release note specific to this issue however I do know that there are newer filter versions available in the most recent TREX revisions so the upgrade is usually a good option to resolve such issues. Of course I cannot say for certain if Revision 39 will resolve it without trying to index your specific document on that version myself.
Anyway I know there are some Oracle filter issues ongoing with TREX 7.1 so I think an upgrade to a newer revision may be inevitable at some stage, but  perhaps in this scenario it would be best to wait for confirmation of the exact revision that contains the fix from the TREX experts in your message.
    Kind regards,
    Lorcan.

  • File Upload on Trex System

    Hi,
We have requirement , to upload csv file into TREX system. Inorder to achieve it , we have done the following.
    1. Create a CSV file with the required attributes and attribute values.
    2. Created Data source type as "File Export"
3.Using report CRM_MKTTG_FDS_LOAD_FILE_UI, we have uploaded the file on the TREX System and the file path - D:\usr\sap\T71\TRX01 but we are not sure where is the file stored on TREX system
Query - 1 How to know TREX system has access to created CSV file.
We need to know where exactly this file is stored on the TREX system. Is there a way to check the location.
Query -2 : While creating Data Source for High Volume Segmentation : We have to enter " Description of the TREX Attribute ,Data Element and Name of the Trex Attributes.
But we are not sure how the mapping is done between the File and Trex server.
Please let us know any information on the above.
    Thanks

    Hi Brahmaji,
I request you keep these in mind before uploading the file.
    a. The header of the file should have names similar to the attribute names of the Datasource.
    b. There should be atleast one field with Business Partner Guid(e.g. BPARTNER in the datasource)
    c. The fields should be mapped to correct data elements (e.g. CRMT_MKTHV_FIDS_GUID32 corresponds to BP Guid).
    d. While running the report CRM_MKTTG_FDS_LOAD_FILE_UI the filename
field should point to the path where the file is residing in the TREX
    machine.(e.g. /usr/sap/STD/TRX10/temp/<filename>
    Hope this helps you.

  • How to modify System Index?

    DSEE7 on Redhat 5 64bit.
I'm trying to modify the objectclass index to index substring searches. However, In DSCC it shows System Indexes as Read-Only and everything is greyed out.
How do I modify the objectclass index?

I don't think that doc explicitly goes into the difference in how the entry cache itself is managed when an unindexed search happens as opposed to when an indexed search happens - i.e., when are entries removed from the cache. That doc is more about the details of satisfying the search itself. Your inference that the entry would always be retrieved from the entry cache is incomplete, since there is always the case when the entry is not already in the entry cache.
I am going off of a previous escalation I worked on when ENG told us the entry cache gets blown away as part of processing an unindexed search. If we really want to prove it, we could look at the entry cache monitor and do some unindexed searches. But for the purpose of the current discussion, all we really need to know about unindexed searches and the Directory is that they are very resource-intensive and can interfere with the timely processing of your other workload. Presumably, that's why you are working on "making" this query be indexed, but the problem with the approach you are taking is that the nature of the query itself makes it unsuitable for indexing.
I disagree that this leads you back to your original question. Technically, the way to force such a query to be indexed is to raise the allidsthreshold so high that it doesn't do its job. I do not recommend that, as it will likely have negative performance implications for your entire Directory.
My opinion about where this should be leading you is either:
    1) Towards an offline parsing job (if this query is part of a periodic report), or
    2) To a dedicated reporting server (if this query and others like it need to be done in real time).
Of course, right now, you may not need to take either of these steps, if your current Directory infrastructure has enough capacity to handle the unindexed queries as well as its other workload.

  • RCA Setup for TREX System

    Hello All,
Can you guide how to do the RCA Setup for TREX System?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Rahul,
I would suggest to go through http://service.sap.com/diagnostics -> SolMan in Detail -> E2E Root Cause Analysis + Media Library
All the required documentation is available. A brief overview of steps would be:
    - Registering TREX/BWA onto the SLD
    - Model the TREX/BWA in the SMSY
    - Diagnsotics agent setup on the TREX host
    - Proceed with RCA activities.

  • Repair Critical System Index

First, The actual error code is below:

    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
    ORA-08102: index key not found, obj# 49, file 1, block 57390 (2)
OK, now I will explain to the best of my ability, the situation:
This error message is associated with an error in the core database product. The problem is NOT in the Apex product itself. There is a damaged Oracle database dictionary, damaged file/ index. We need a fix to repair the specific System index that is damaged. The problem we are having is that the index is a critical index. When we attempt to rebuild the damaged index we are told the damaged index is necessary for a warm restart of the database. At this point we are stuck. If we cannot repair the specific System index we will have to wipe the system and reinstall Apex. If we do this we will have to rebuild all of our tables and more. This represents weeks of work or more. So we would like to have help repairing the specific damaged critical index as opposed to wiping everything.
Specifically, we cannot create tables that have a primary key (cannot create an index). When we attempt to create a table with a primary key the message above is the message we receive. We can create a table that does not have a primary key.
    History: FYI
About six weeks ago we upgraded our Apex from version 3.1 to version 3.2. The first attempt failed the second attempt succeeded. In order to get the update to work we had to allocate more file space for the tables so there would be more storage space for the tables to utilize.
We are dead in the water until we resolve this issue. Please help.

I have been told by customer support that I cannot receive paid support for free versions of Oracle software even if I otherwise have a paid license and a service agreement. I am told the service agreement will only cover paid versions of Oracle products. So, as far as I can tell I have nowhere to turn for assistance accept the help forums. If anyone knows specifically whom I should contact please, I am all ears.
I am using Oracle Apex Version 3.2How about if you export all of the schemas that contain your work, and import that into another database?

  • TREX Monitor / Index Monitor are hanging

    Hi Experts ,
We are running on EP 2004s SP 12 and TREX 7.0 rev 34.
Our issue is TREX Monitor (System Admin -> Monitoring -> KM -> TREX Monitor) is hanging and not able to display anything.
Same thing is happening with Index Monitor also .
We have checked both TREX and EP are running fine , I can see other iViews in monitor view eg. - Crawler Monitor .
    Can anybody help ..
    Thaks & Regards,
    Amit

    Hi Amit,
I have had this issue before as well but unfortunately wasn't able to find out what exactly the problem is. I believe it is some type of communication problem between TREX and your portal. Try restarting both TREX and the portal and see if it helps.

  • TREX Active Index - Which index is really being used?

We are using ISA E-Commerce 5.0 for ERP 6.0. We run the ISA_CATALOG_REPLICATION program as an hourly job to create indexes in TREX. We add items to our catalog several times a day. Our variant is set to keep 5 indexes.
    1. Where do I verify which index is REALLY active? They are all green in TREX Admin and they all have an Active flag in SRMO. (I am pretty certain the older indexes are not being used by ISA because the new items show up in B2B after the ISA_CATALOG_REPLICATION completes)
    2. When the ISA_CATALOG_REPLICATION cancels due to an SRET error, I want to go back to the last valid index in TREX and force the system to use that index. How do I do that?
    Thank you
    Jon Sells

SAP told that this functionality is not available in TREX. So there really is no point in having more than 1 index at a time.

  • TREX not indexing document 10 KB

    hi...
TREX search is working fine for documents < 10 KB but if i try indexing documents > 10 KB it gives prperation failed error. Please let me know what as to be done so that it indexes document > 10 KB
Please help me on this as it is very urgent
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shanshank

I installed an EP7/TREX SP10 two years ago. All worked fine until I decided to apply windows SP2 and some security patch. My machine is a win2003 x64.
Now EP7 works fine, but TREX in not able to reindex documents > 10kb.
    Trex preprocessor trace says:
    Preprocessor.cpp(03550) : HANDLE: DISPATCH - Processing Document with key '/documents/Segreterie/Documenti PCTP/Doc. in Arrivo/Anno 2009/2009_03123.pdf' failed, returning PREPROCESSOR_ACTIVITY_ERROR (Code 6401)
In the portal security log file I found the corresponding error:
    System/Security/Authentication#sap.com/irj#com.sap.engine.services.security.authentication.logincontext#Guest#2####764602d0407311dea83600188b77747b#SAPEngine_Application_Threadimpl:3_17##0#0#Info#1#com.sap.engine.services.security.authentication.logincontext#Plain###LOGIN.FAILED
    User: N/A
    Authentication Stack: ticket
It seems to me that the portal is not able to pass user name to Trex (User: N/A) and then It is not authorized to retrive the documents.
I tried to change the user of indexmanager service "index_service"; to set the alternative host in url generator service. Nothing changed.
    Any suggestion?

    Hi,
I have also faced same issue and got resolved after setting host name in the URL Generator Service
    Logon to portal as administrator
Navigate to System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge management -> Content Management -> Global Service -> Show Advanced option -> URL Generator Service
    Then check the Host name.
It should be according to your portal
For example if your portal URL is http://GHIKD.sde.rfd:53200/irj/portal then you need to give host name like http://GHIKD:53200.
