Trial not licensed: the middle of a day gone wrong

I recently installed Lion on my Mac and quite a few of my applications are no longer supported. So I can finish some urgent work today I decided to download the trial of InDesign CS5. But as soon as it starts it says its not licenced properly and shuts down. Have desintalled too and started gain. Elsewhere on a thread it says something about also deleting some start-up files but I can't find these on my Mac to delete and try again. Heartbreaking day. Any more ideas?

Can you please provide the exact error message which you receive? Also what version of Mac OS 10.7 do you have installed?

Download the fee iBooks app from the app store if you don't already have it. Then download the .pdf here: iPad User Guide (For iOS 5.1 Software). Next, import it to your iTunes library (iTunes>File>Add to Library). Then sync it to your iPad by selecting it on the Books tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing your iPad. It will availble in iBooks in the PDFs section (tap Collections on the top left, then tap PDF's).

"Invalid reference" usually means there is a cell reference in a formula to a cell that does not exist in the document.
In this case, it could mean that your Numbers document uses a feature that is not supported by MS Excel, and because of that, the document cannot be translated into an Excel file.
A more specific answer would require a more detailed description of your Numbers document.

CS6 Design & Web Premium trial stops in the middle of downloading.

I've tried to download CS6 Design & Web Premium on several occasion over the last four days, and everytime it stops at just over 10% of the download.
I've made sure I have enough disk-space. I run at about 20M download speed. I've tried both wireless and physical connections and get the same result everytime. I seem to have run out of options. Oh - I've also varied the time I start the downloads from morning, afternoon and night. I've tried Google Chrome and Internet Explorer. My laptop (which I've had for over 8 months) runs Windows 7 and until now, I had not come across a download problem.
I'm growing quite frustrated and need to know why I've encountered this problem and how to resolve it.

Could be the charger, cable or the iPad.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). Logic 9 Audio and Video sync at beginning timecode, but not in the middle of playback.

Hey Guys,
I'm working on a Trailer for a feature length, and my video playback is pretty screwy.
I've double checked the video to be 23.976 framrat and set my project to that framrate, and I've done what I normally do with bitrate and sample rate. But currently my audio and video will not sync together when I start playback in the middle of my project.
Playback works fine in the start of the project, and everything looks and sounds great. But as I'm writing and edtiting further on in the project all the audio gets out of sync. If I start the project from the beginning, then all of the MIDI for the whole piece registers as synced, and the project sounds and looks great the whole way through. The problem comes from starting playback anywhere in the middle of the project.
I'm working with a .mov file (1:45 minutes); three .AAC audio files, and plenty of thrid-party plug-ins. 10.7.5 Mac OS X, 2.2 GHz i7 core, and 4GB m
of memory.
Any thoughts?

I am using an Aurora 16 via firewire
I did change my buffer settings and that seemed to fix it but now I am at 128. I moved over to the aurora because I preferred the extra headroom. I guess I should have stuck with the apogee.
Tonight was the first time I had the opportunity to do a full tracking session with 9. I have been doing quiet a bit of mastering with no issues. Quiet a few issues. Everything from logic quitting to it just locking up. So far.....a pretty bad experience. I wonder if it could be Snow Leopard.......

In two email accounts, the msgs that are downloadednjust disappear when the ipad is turned off. They are not in the trash file, but just gone.

If someone has an answer...

I have an itouch that has the same two email accounts as I trying to use on the ipad. Same accounts are set up on a desktop computer (almost never sync either one with it) and an android smartphone. The itouch keeps msgs on it in the inbox (both accounts) and in the trash folders until I delete them...........same with the android phone.
If I download msgs to either account to the desktop where it is set up to remove them from the ISP server, then I understand they won't come to any of the other devices, but the android phone and the itouch will have them in their in boxes (they come in through the wireless router here at the house.
The problem I'm having is that the ipad is set uo just like the itouch, but it sure acts differently with regard to email.. This morning, it had about 40 msgs on one account that I use for aviation and vietnam list groups and then checking it about two hours later, all of them were gone,,,,,,,just gone and all the folders were empty. I had not used the desktop computer during that time.
I've deleted both email accounts and started over from scratch a couple of times and that hasn't fixed the problem.............

Firefox has recently stopped giving (personalised) automatic prompts when I type in the first few letters of a search. What does come up is a long list of possible search subjects - but these are very general and don't reflect my own personal browsing history. My browsing history IS being recorded, however, and the "Remember search and form history" box is ticked in the Privacy preferences.
I'm not using the "Private Browsing" option.
There are two MacBooks in the house, sharing one wireless router. This problem has cropped up on both laptops - mine and my wife's - at around the same time.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

On Windows when I open a (any) link it open in a new tab. It should open in the same tape since I not clicking the "middle click". Doesn't do this on Linux. Why is this happening how to fix this?

Ever since I installed the latest upgrade, everything has gone wrong! Crashes, freezes, text warping.

Ever since I upgraded to the newest version, I've had nothing but trouble with my internet. Very frequent crashes. All of a sudden the whole screen will start flashing like the computer is going to explode. Freezes. The video plug in (QuickTime?) crashes, there is a visual warp halfway down my screen that makes the type look funny when I scroll a page. I'm thinking of de-installing Firefox. Can you help?

Not really a voltage concern.But I guess it could if both drives are running at the same time.With IDE, one is limited to two drives in a chain, and these drives cannot work at the same time. In essence, they must "take turns".So by putting 1 HDD as primary master and cd as slave,you will get the full performance of your drive.Most peeps only run CD roms for program installs and or CD burning or copying anways.
As far as the cable,yes there are 80 wire flat cables that work just fine.The only reason to go to the round cables is to improve air-flow and or the length of the cable itself.
I am sure many people use it the old fashion way with no problems.I just experienced a performance issue when I had HDD's on the same chain.It was mainly because I load all my games on my D drive.It also kept defaulting it to PIO mode which is the slowest mode.Since swaping the drives around on the chain(IDE1=HDD-Operating system-primary master and CD burner as Primary slave)(IDE2=HDD-Storage/gaming-secondary master and my DVD rom as secondary slave)Both drives run in UMDA-MODE-5 set up that way with no more problems

IMovie shuts down in the middle of "production"

Hi all
I am new to iMovie. I saw some tutorial son the web and then went to work adding clips together to make a little movie. In the middle of this iMovie just shut down. I did notice the fan spinning really loudly. Does iMovie require lots of RAM or s=hard drive speed or something? I am using a MacBook I got in 06, system 10.4.11, 1 GB, 667 MHz. Any help would be much appreciated

*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
iMovie pref file resides.
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences
and is named. *com.apple.iMovie.plist *
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iMovie.
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Garageband-fix. Start it, Play a note and Close it. Re-try (Corrects an audio problem that hinders iMovie)
• Screen must be set to Million-colors
• Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08 or 09)

QuickTime updated ?
Mac OS version ?
• Program miss-match. iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
• Program miss-match. iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)

From LKN 1935. (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

Attaching Word and PDF files in Mail without preview in the middle of a message

I am using Mail but often attaching Word docs and PDFs. Word attachments appear as small icons, but PDFs as preview and usually in the middle of the message. Can I attach PDFs as small icons and not in the middle of a message? Having just moved to Mac from PC I am missing the tidyness of Outlook, but if you can help me I'll persist.

I found this solution in a previous thread:
1. Open Terminal (Applications > Utilities > Terminal)
2. copy and paste this line after the $:
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool yes
3. hit return
4. you may need to restart Mail for the change to take effect, it worked for me without restarting Mail.
5. to change it back you would do
defaults write com.apple.mail DisableInlineAttachmentViewing -bool false
