Trial version of LR5???

I already have purchased PS CS6 and LR5 in prior times. I just signed up for PS CC with Lightroom for Photographers for a one-year contract. The Adobe CC installer installed both PS CC and LR5. Now, 2 days later I get an email from Adobe with subject line "welcome to your Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 trial and goes on about a 30-day trial of LR5. I did not download or ask for any "trial version" of LR5. I already have the independent stand-alone version plus included it as part of the CC package I contracted for. What is this email alluding to "trial version"?

Personally, I don't understand why anyone uses that utility to download their images. The import dialog in Lightroom works perfectly to do that transfer. I don't know if Nikon Transfer is the culprit since you are using a newer version. But here is a link to a utility that you can use that is supposed to correct the problem caused by using Nikon Transfer. I have never used it, but have seen it recommended. I also have never used Nikon Transfer to download files from my Nikon cameras.

In the trial version of LR5, my NEF images (taken with a Nikon D7100) are not visible

I downloaded the trial version of LR5, then imported a set of images, shot with my new Nikon D7100, and saved as both JPEG and NEF on the memory card. When I imported them to LR, the JPEG images are visible but the NEF images are grey squares--although the image info (date, size, etc) show when the cursor hovers over the square. When I click on one of the NEF squares to open the image, "Could not read preview" appears instead of the image. Have lightroom 5 hard copy and just got a mac. downloaded the trial version of LR5 from the web, but it will not take my serial number. gives me an invalid serial number error

i have had lightroom 5 for some time now, and have used on my pc. I just got a mac (no disc drive) so I downloaded the trial version of LR5 from the adobe site. Once installed, i tried to key in my serial number.
I get an invalid serial number error.
has anyone ran into this before?

If you have a paid-up version of LR4 or earlier, you can pay for an upgrade licence. When you install LR and it asks for a licence, if you give it an upgrade licence then it will ask for the previous licence that you're upgrading.

If you mean will you lose the work you've done in the trial version: no, you shouldn't.
Ideally, before you remove the trial version, back up the catalog. Go to Edit menu (in LR), Catalog settings... and click "Show", which will take you to the folder containing the catalog (for Windows, don't know about Mac). Make a note of that folder location, and preferably take a copy somewhere.
When you've installed the CC version (as BKKDon says), if the CC version doesn't open the existing catalog, go to File menu, Open Catalog... and take it to the existing catalog.

If you are, instead download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 for Mac OS X Lion

I can only install a trial version of LR5, although my license key is a registered product.

With Lightroom, I can only select "Try" under "Apps" in Creative Cloud, which does not seem to recognise the registered LR5 key, although I'm logged in with the same email address.

You need to get rid of the creative cloud application manager, and you need to get rid of Lightroom. The creative cloud version does not use a serial number. It depends on your Adobe ID and your Adobe password. After you uninstall Lightroom you can download from the following location and install this trial version:
Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh : Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5.7.1
After you install it the trial splash screen will display and there is an option to indicate that you have a serial number. Choose that option and you will be able to enter your number.
There are no free subscriptions to the creative cloud. There is a trial subscription you can use for 30 days. But when it expires the programs no longer work and you no longer have access to the Adobe creative cloud.

I have downloaded the trial version of LR5 - I'm getting an error message.

I have used LR3 so kinda know what I'm doing. But I am getting the following wrror message when I open LR5 "Error occurred when changing modules" - I can't seem to import any pictures... under "file" there is no option for importing like there was in LR3

I would like to run the trial version of LR5, but I am concerned with whether I will be able to implement an upgrade and not a full version installation. There are still retail packs of LR 4 to be found out there - for example, on EBay. It's just important to be careful whether it's a full version, an upgrade, or a student + teacher version. And to be certain it's genuine, and has a serial number which has never been activated before. The serial number that you get with that, should work with any 4.x version of LR, on either MacOS or Windows. And it will almost certainly be heavily discounted compared with the previous price direct from Adobe.
Of course the other way is to upgrade to Windows 7 SP1, which should also be available discounted, and thus eke out the life of an older PC (I personally would not go to Win8 in such a case). Maybe pick up some RAM also, if that's a problem, provided you can do so cheaply (since that will be simply thrown away in due course, when you get a newer PC),
Using LR4 instead of LR5 you do miss out on a few nice features, as well as potentially the Raw support and lens profiles for more recent camera equipment.
LR 4 is obsolete as far as Adobe is concerned. They will not sell a Serial Number for it.

I currently am up to about 65,000 images cataloged in LR. I backup on launch several times a week and have used the "relaunch and optimize" function periodically as well. I am a bit reluctant to do anything aggressive as, even though I have encountered this warning 6 or 7 times in the past 4-5 months or so I have never had to shut down. I have emptied the recycle bin (which, as I mentioned, usually has very little in it) and then I continue and notice no impairment of function. So at present it represents more of an annoyance and a bit of a mystery only. Maybe I will just report this to Adobe and sit tight unless someone can see an obvious explanation and correction here.
I appreciate all of the input and advice I have received already.

Used LR5 trial version, purchased upgrade version, but don't have previous serial number

Hi guys,
Seems I have misunderstood the purchase and after my trial version expired I decided to buy the upgrade version (thought it would be the one as I already had there software downloaded and used as trial). Now I have purchased the upgrade software, but obviously I do not have the previous licence code!
How can I get it to work and pay the difference only? Or do I have to contact Adobe, cancel the upgrade version, wait for the refund and order afterwards the full version?

I think you have answered your own question. We are all just users like yourself. It seems that some people are getting confused about the upgrade version. The first time you purchase Lightroom you have to pay the full price. The trial version is actually the full version, it just has a time limiter on it. The upgrade version depends on a serial number from a previous version (i.e. Lightroom 3, Lightroom 4, etc.) as well as the serial number from the upgrade version to be activated. So it appears that you will have to negotiate with Adobe customer support to resolve your problem.

Problem downloading free trial version of lightroom 5

I downloaded the beta version of lightroom 5 without a problem but when I try to download the free trial version when I click on the download button nothing happens. My wife uses a mac and she got LR5 without any problems. I have altered my firewall and allowed popups but still no joy - can anyone help

What system are you on? LR 5 won't run on anything but Win 7 or Win 8 even if the Beta ran on Vista and even XP. If you are not on the right OS, it will never work.
