Trialware has broken my sleep password wake up function

I was looking for a solution to a securitylogin.bundle problem I'm having - and I'm hoping to solve it without having to reinstall my OS. I recently installed ( and then removed) some trial-ware called KeyLemon (and along with it a file called KLSecurityAgent Plugin.bundle) which played with my password protect on my sleep function. What now happens is that after I send my machine to sleep and reopen I'll get a blank screen instead of the password challenge - I've temporarily removed the tick in the password box for sleep in the security settings - but I'd ideally like it back. I'm assuming that my OS can no longer locate the relevant file - is there a way to send it back to default - perhaps using terminal? Or is there something else I should delete??

Lauch terminal.  Then type (better yet, cut/paste) the following line:
rm -rf /Users/Shared/.KeyLemon
If the login item wasn't there deleting this isn't going to fix your problem (I don't think) but it does clean out some crap that the KeyLemon installer created.
Also, at this point I'm at a loss to explain your problem.  Was there anything about this app in the Activity monitor list?

    Back up all data.
Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
    From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
    Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access.

    Hi Gazpan,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend using the steps in this article to back up your iPhone if possible:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1766
You may also find this advice helpful for your situation:
What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
If you no longer have your iOS device
If you're using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.
If you're unable to complete either of the above steps, you should change your Apple ID password. Changing your password won't remove any personal information that is cached on the device, but it will make sure that the new owner can't delete your information from iCloud.
    Cheers,
    Jeremy

Your ios 7 has broken my wifi connection on my ipad. I hve a brand new router 30hrs old. My ipad 2 is not jail broken, jst ios 7 broken! Turning my router on and off could possibly break this also. Entropy seems solid!
My iphone 4 has no issue with ios 7 nor my apple tv!? This is becoming very fustrating nd quite annoying, I never had a problem with ios 6. Issue purely with
ios 7. Had to have telephone connections checked also, no luck! Have also spent monies on xtra GB, problem still persists, making it very unreliable to wrk with product! Would like to remain with product? If problem can be contained and rectified. Confidence is quite low in remaining with company. Can there be a speedier solution to this unreliable update, thats just manifesting in my ipad2 before it becomes stagnant. Just knowing if your technicians cannot solve the problem would ease my mind if i need to re-invest with another company (sadly) for my ipad2 works perfectly with all apps, its just the main heart beats been cannabalized, as though you have three repeaters missing in your program???? To keep our WIFI on the matrix because itz not in the Matrix. Have tried your quck fix solutions only to find their only wishful thinking. (Downtime)
Next message i read prefferably would be a lot more solid and positive in solving this technical glitch thats becoming nothing but a big itch so K. I. S. S use our S. W. A. T. analyses, head down and P. P. P. P. P. would you agree and hopefully we can all get on with our own private lives and come up with positive replies and better ideas instead of big ideas that just ain't 99.9% Working!
Anyhow Good Luck Hope you Work it Out.!!!
Since posting this hopeful delima, iOS 7 has stayd connected for at least a solid 12 hrs+, iCloud backup has now been running more than 5.5 hrs with no interruptions, storage information at top of page has also disappeared indicating a backup rate of 60% success, f this b my new iOS, I only have heart crossd, not fingers. Future update, Probable. Hopefully finger on the button, Confidence, High!!!
    So far wifi still connected

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are drooping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Mac goes to repeated sleep/instant-wake at night, Sleep Cause 5

    Hi There
    i have a new MacBook Pro 15" 16GB.
    - No USB Disks attached
    - Thunderbolt Display
    - Thunderbolt Gigabit Ethernet
    - USB Mice and Keyboards
    - Synology NAS for Shares and TimeMachine over Gigabit Ethernet Adapter not WLan
My macbook has to run overnight sometimes to do some monitoring and other tasks. It's configured to stay awake but in the morning the MBP was not connected to the internet. I had to replug the Adapter to get networks back online.
After this happened the second time i reviewed the systems log and found repeating sleep events at night:

    Any help would be nice
    thanks

Sleep Cause: 5 is normal system sleep initiated by Energy Saver. Grep "wake reason". It will result in extracting additional helpful log entries.
There are numerous causes for the system to wake periodically but obviously its Internet connection should not be lost upon waking, and it should not be required for you to disconnect / reconnect the Thunderbolt to Ethernet connector to reestablish connection. The usual first step in resolving a problem such as that would be an SMC reset. Try that, followed by an NVRAM reset according to the instructions below.
It may have no effect on the problem but it's the first thing AppleCare would have you do, so you might as well try it before resorting to calling them.
Power or other problems related to unexpected system sleep, shutdown, lights or fans call for an SMC reset. Read all the steps.
    Before Resetting the SMC
Try each of the following steps in this order before you reset the SMC. Test the issue after completing each troubleshooting step to determine if the issue still occurs.
Press Command + Option + Escape to force quit any application that is not responding.
Put your Mac to sleep by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Sleep. Wake the computer after it has gone to sleep.
Restart your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Restart.
Shut down your Mac by choosing the Apple () menu from the upper-left menu bar and then choosing Shut Down.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if it's not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. The power adapter indicator light will cycle off / on once.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    NVRAM reset:
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
After resetting NVRAM or PRAM, you may need to reconfigure your settings for speaker volume, screen resolution, startup disk selection, and time zone information. If issues persist, your Mac's logic board battery (not a portable Mac's rechargeable battery) may need to be replaced. The logic board battery helps retain NVRAM/PRAM settings when your computer is shut down. You can take your Mac to a Mac Genius or Apple Authorized Service Provider to replace the battery on the logic board.
    - Synology NAS for Shares and TimeMachine over Gigabit Ethernet Adapter not WLan
It may not be related to the problem you describe, but you should know this is not a supported Time Machine configuration, and the Time Machine backups being created with that configuration should not be considered reliable.
The exhaustive list of devices supported by Time Machine amounts to the following:
AirPort Time Capsule's built-in hard disk (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to a Time Capsule (any model)
External USB hard disk drive connected to an AirPort Extreme (current model only)
A hard disk drive directly connected either to the source Mac, or a Mac on your local network.
    That is all.
Use whatever backup device you want, but you should be aware that this site is full of reports of misery from hapless individuals who had been using third party NAS devices for Time Machine backups, only to find that they were incomplete, corrupted, or useless in the dire circumstances in which they were required. Apple won't care if you lose your data while using a Time Machine configuration specifically excluded from their technical support documents.

mavericks has broken most stock apps, app store ,preview, messages, facetime ect the list goes on they bounce in the menu then nothing its been like that since installing mavericks fixed briefly by reinstalling but then stopped again very quickly
    any help ?

You most likely ran a defective third-party "utility" such as "CleanMyMac" or "MacCleanse" that purports to "clean up" "junk" files. What it really does is to corrupt the operating system and many applications.
The first thing you need to do is remove that software according to the developer's instructions. Never install it, or anything like it, again. Then see below.
If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main Recovery screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode. All other data will be preserved.
*The linked support article refers to OS X 10.9 ("Mavericks"), but the procedure is the same for OS X 10.7 ("Lion") and later.

  • Apple has broken Windows file sharing in Snow Leopard

    Hi Folks,
    Having a serious problem here.
Apple has broken Windows file sharing in Snow Leopard. Many others on the forums are experiencing the same thing. I was almost ready to fully switch to the Mac, then I thought I would upgrade to SL, then this happened...
OK so I have a Windows Server 2003 Small Business Server. It's pretty much the same as the standard Windows 2k3 server except that it throws in a few extras (And takes some things away). I'm also lead to believe, that there is a difference w.r.t. password signing/encryption or something?
Anyways, if I try and connect to my SBS server with the correct username and password (In different formats: Domain\username or just username), I get a "Unable to connect to server. Check IP..." blablabla. This happens after the password prompt has come up.
If I try and connect to my standard windows 2003 server box, it does work, just very slowly (Again, referring to the whole thing about how SBS treats password security differently).
So I ask a couple of things:
    1) It would be appreciated if any other forums members could maybe help me get this going?
    2) A plea to Apple - please fix this. It all worked perfectly in Leopard!
Apple probably haven't tested SL against SBS 2003 server. A lot of companies don't do this either as they think that it is just the same as the standard 2003 server (Which i hope Apple have tested against!)
    Thanks guys

I have the same problem. Here are the details:
External Hard Drive with LAN (Buffalo Drivestation Flexnet: http://tinyurl.com/kk5mmu)
    Mac OS X 10.6, on 3 different Mac Mini's
This error occurs on all computers when trying to copy a file to the 'SHARE' sharepoint on the SMB Drive:
"The Finder can't complete the operation because some data in "filename" can't be read or written. (Error Code -36)"
    I CAN
Access / Read / Write this Drive in Windows XP
Access / Read / Write this Drive in OS X 10.5.7
Make new folder on this Drive in OS X 10.6
See a .DS_Store file which 10.6 has written to the Drive
Save a document to the drive from the Text Edit save dialog in 10.6
Save a document to the drive from the Pages save dialog in 10.6
Duplicate a document on the drive using Terminal (cp Untitled.pages Untitled2.pages) in 10.6
Copy anything to any other computer on the Network using 10.6
    I CAN NOT
Copy a document to the Drive in 10.6
Duplicate a document on the Drive in 10.6
Save a PDF or JPG to the drive from the Preview save dialog in 10.6
This error happens every time. It is easily reproducible.
I hope that this information helps Apple get on to the problem soon.

  • Why won't the sleep and wake button work

the sleep and wake button has stopped working.

If you have Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation and take to Apple for resolution. If you would like to try perfect Virtual Button, tap Settings App > General > Accessibility > Assistive Touch > ON > tap new white screen button > Device > Lock. You can even turn iPhone OFF with this button. To turn iPhone ON, connect iPhone to power ie charger or USB of computer.

  • Purchased new wirless keyboard, as old one has broken. will not pair.

My old wirless keyboard has broken, key was stuck, have tried to air out and possible dirt etc, however does not work, as a key is stuck i am unable to enter my password on my imac when i turn it on.
so i decided to purchase a new keyboard as the old one is out of warranty
i cant seem to be able to pair it.
the userguide is telling me to pair a new keyboard u need go select 'bluetooth optiona' on the imac, however i cant do that, as i cant get into the imac as the old keyboard is broken?

Most wired keyboards will work with your Mac.  So your best bet is to borrow one and use it to set up the new Bluetooth board.

  • Interesting Sleep and Wake problem

For about a month I have found that the Macbook pro (2008) Osx10.7 doesn't seem to sleep when the cover closed with the power cord attached. The sleep light doesn't pulsate and it remains warm. When i open it up the log in screen flashes on, then the screen goes dark and I can't log in. I found myself doing forced restarts - then i disconnected the power cord and the log in screen magically reappeared.
It seems I need to disconnect the power cord wehn closing the lid, and if I forget to do that I need to disconnect when reopening the lid in order to log in.
I have tried resetting all the power settings to default, but it still does that.
Not a major problem, but puzzling.

The problem isn't so much that it won't sleep or wake. It does seem to do both more or less, but that if the power cord is connected it doesn't fully sleep (the LED doesn't blink) and that waking results in the login screen flashing on momentarily followed by a black screen which requires either a forced reboot or simply unplugging the power cord. Once the power cord is unplugged then logging in is easy as the screen recovers.
My question is why is this happening? Some new feature of lion? It has only been going on a few weeks.
It was quite troublesome until I figured out I could resolve the problem by unplugging the power cord, but I remain mystified as to why it happens.

  • IPad Mini Retina Won't Sleep or Wake with Cover

My new iPad Mini Retina worked fine for the first week or so, but now when I open or close the Apple magnetic cover, it doesn't automatically sleep or wake up.
I shut the iPad down and started it up again -- no change.
Is there a setting that got changed? Is something broken?
    Thanks for any help.

Never mind, I found the setting. But really, it shouldn't be called "Lock/Unlock" but rather "Wake/Sleep." I don't want it to lock, just sleep!

  • My Mac has broken and I want to sell it for parts. How can I be sure that my personal data that is/was on the hard drive is safe?

My 2006 MacBook Pro has broken. There is a little bit of drive noise when I turn it on, but then nothing happens. It is no big deal. Most of my files were backed up. There are a few files I would like to recover if possible, but nothing worth a major effort.
I have seen that broken MacBook Pro's go for about $300 on eBay for parts, so I would like to sell the MacBook Pro. However, I only want to do that after I am sure that my personal data is wiped out. Does anyone know how I can accomplish that? Does anyone know of an easy way to search the old hard drive for some of the data that I lost? Can a Genius Bar take care of this stuff for me (and how much do they charge?)?
    Thank you for your help.

The ONLY real secure way to be sure that noone may recover data from your drive is, to remove the drive, and drill one or two 1" holes thru the disk.
A bit less secure but useful way is, to wipe out the data with a tool that's overwrite all sectors of the drive with randomized data in multiple runs.
    For example: Permanent Ereaser http://www.edenwaith.com/products/permanent%20eraser/
Independent tests bring out, that even specialized recovery companies with forensic tools are unable to find useful data after such a run.

There are some recovery tools out there to fit your needs, e.g. MacKeeper http://mackeeper.zeobit.com/mac-data-recovery

  • ITunes can't connect to Apple TV sometimes after sleep and wake up

    Hi!
There are any issues to find in the discussions depending on problems between the ATV and iTunes but no solution helps me to solve the following problem till now.
I am using a Mac mini (middle 2011) as a central storage for multimedia data. The exact description of the network can you find further down.
The problem is that iTunes sometimes can't connect to the Apple Tv via Airplay. There is a window open what tells me that iTunes try to connect to ATV. But it doesn't work.
After determine iTunes completely (normal closing doesn't work because of that open window) and restart it, it will work probably.
Itunes is connecting to ATV via Airplay immediately.
Sometimes it works for any days with a view sleep and wake up procedures. Sometimes the problem appears while I'm listen to music after any minutes of starting.
I send the mini and the ATV to sleep with the remote of the ATV or let it go to sleep alone. To wake up ATV and mini I push a button on the remote.
Following components are working in my network:
    - router FritzBox 7390 from AVM (2,4 and 5 GhZ at the same time)
    - Mac mini (middle 2011) connected via Wlan
    - two Airport Express with connected loudspeakers in various rooms (Wlan)
    - Apple TV (third generation) connected with home cinema via HDMI and with the network via Wlan
    - Telekom entertain setbox for TV connected via LAN over Wlan bridge
I have tried to use the whole system with an Airport Extrem as router for wlan but the problem was the same.
I suppose it could be a problem with DHCP Lease or the Bonjour? What can I do?
Last but not least...the devices have installed the newest firmware or software versions.
    Thanks a lot for support!
    Norman

i bit the bullet and re-associated library on ATV. On atv, setting/computers; current library was grayed out, clicking creates a warning that all media on ATV will be lost, it takes its time to earase the disk, then an option to connect to itunes becomes available just like fresh setup. ATV produced a code to enter into itunes. itunes complained that it cannot communicate on port 3689; googleupdate.exe was using this port; disabled googleupdate; rebooted everything for good measure. so now i'm waiting for 100GB of home movies and music to sync to ATV (thanks apple!). one thing that got me stumbled - when ATV showed up, there were not tabs for music, movies, podcast, etc, only settings and photos; solution: deselect 'automatic sync' by selecting 'custom sync' in the settings tab.

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple ID to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with one Apple ID with a new Apple ID.
