Tricks with iWeb share them here
I have an idea or 2 for people to try I have not had a go at this yet but tell me what people think.
One thing you must do is Publish to a folder and upload to your site for this stuff to work. This can be done to .Mac as well as any other external site.
Go look in the Published folder you saved and examine all the files in there..
Spend sometime browsing through and get a feel for thee way these files are saved in relationship to your website design.
You will notice alot of different files including alot files with png extensions which is a picture.. open them up and see what they are on your website
For-instance on my site I have used the Watercolor theme and there are a bunch of things you cannot change such as the Backgrounds etc.
I notice that the Welcome page has a series of backgrounds you can't change on the theme in the Imagaes folder called ..

Try modifying these png files in say photoshop or something else that will edit them or maybe try to replace them with a file of the same name.. then upload to your site and have a look.
I can imagine if you replace some of the png files you'll have to be carefull that the new ones are the same dimensions
I hope this sparks a few ideas.
I have downloaded the demo's of RapidWeaver and Freeway demo .. but I am not familiar with these programs and can't see a way to take iweb stuff in and edit.. If anyone has done this in a different program share it here so we can all get even better customization on our sites and learn together

Theoretically this should work without incident, even if you don't honor the original image size... bigger images will look sqished and smaller images will look stretched, but it should work ok.
The one bonus you may get from this is that you can open and save your images that iWeb fails to compress down to a web manageable size:

iCloud provides a simple gallery in the form of 'Photo Journal' - uploading of photos from iPhoto to web pages hosted on iCloud, but only from iOS devices; and the photos are compressed to a size adequate for online viewing but are not available in full resolution as with the old MobileMe Gallery. It is not advisable to follow the above suggested method. The following will do what you want without complications.
1. On your Mac, go to http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mm6b1a9479 and follow the instructions to share a calendar privately. If you have more than one calendar you want to share you will have to do each individually. You can choose whether she is able to edit it or whether it should be read-only.
2. If your wife does not have an iCloud account she will need to obtain one. When you share a calendar and nominate her to access it she will receive and email. All she has to do is to open the email and click 'Join Calendar'. This will add the calendar to her Calendar app on all devices and on icloud.com without affecting any other data. Again, this will have to be done individually if more than one calendar is involved. -
if a child is over 18 in family sharing can they purchase items themselves? Will they then be able to share them with other family group members?

have a I Mac 7.1 operating on version 10.5.8. I have purchased many songs that reside on my PC andf I want to share them with my I Phone 4. Can you take me through the steps necessary to be able to share and then play these albums on my I phone 4?
After you connect the iPhone to your Mac launch iTunes.
Select the iPhone under Devices left side of the iTunes window.
Select the Music tab from the menu.
Make your selections for the songs you want synced the click the Sync button bottom right side of the iTunes window.

Need software which can send images to my editor, have them make selections, share them with me so I can edit the images and send the final results back to them. Will Lightroom work?
What I would like to do is to use Lightroom as I have been doing with LR 5.7. Tag certain images to be shared to the Creative Cloud which my editor can then see and tag as to which she would like to see final versions of. In the best case, I would then see these tags and edit the images as appropriate and save the JPEGs back to the Cloud where she can download them for final production.
Possible? -
I created new users on my mac and my music, photos, etc. are all still on the administrators account. I tried making the other 2 new accounts administrators but that didn't work. How can I share them with all users?

I thought that there was a way to do this. However, it would be neat to be able to upload correct Art Work for album covers so that other could share instead of having to scan / take picture and then import. I guess Apple would be inodated with incorrect pictures if we could upload to them.

needing help with family share that isn't allowing me to add my daughter for a year!!!
That happens because there is a restriction from changing family groups more than twice per year. Unfortunately, a number of people have inadvertently triggered this in the process of setting up Family Sharing. There isn't anything you can do about it on your own; all you can do is contact Apple support to see if they would override this at their end.

Any OMNIS subscribers had success with iWeb '08?
I followed the instructions from iWeb and spoke to OMNIS and got instructions from them. I've successfully changed the DN to CNAME web.mac.com. I wasn't sure what information to put in the "Content" window. I've tried a few different things. I made these switches three days ago and still when I type in my address it takes me to the OMNIS page. Have I missed something? Anyone else have the same problem? Help. Thanks
Glad to hear that it worked for you. But I am really starting to wonder where I went wrong then, because I did not use third-party anything with iWeb, and I can't update my '06 domain file. iWeb just freezes, shows as "Not responding" and in red in the Force Quit window. I don't believe there's any point in trying to wait that out.
And not only that, but when starting over with a fresh domain file, iWeb '08 crashes or freezes all the time too. I'm a big Apple fan, and I haven't lost anything important because I backed it all up and have a second Mac to rely on, but seriously, this is bad. It's just bad. I can't come up with any excuses for this one (or the stripped-down new iMovie, but I digress). I have a straightforward site -- based on "modern" template -- I don't understand why the new version of iWeb can't read it. I understand even less why iWeb '08 would be crashing with a brand new domain file.

How many website can I create with iWeb?
How many different webpages can I create with iWeb? I just created a site to show friends a slide show from a recent trip, but I need to create another webpage that will have video on it. It would be a totally different subject matter. I do have a .MAC account and not sure if I need to do anything with that so I can have more webpages.
I guess what I am saying is that I am going to need different URL's for the webpages I am going to need to create and want to know how many you can have or create using iWeb.You can have multiple websites, each with multiple pages depending on the need. To make managing multiple sites easier, take a look at iWebSites. The limiting factor, as was pointed out, is the available space on your iDisk. I use iWebSites to manage multiple sites.. It lets me create multiple sites and multiple domain files.
If you have multiple sites in one domain file here's the workflow I used to split them into individual site files with iWebSites. Be sure to make a backup copy of your Domain.sites files before starting the splitting process.
This lets me edit several sites and only republish the one I want.

I have created a site with iWeb. I have replaced the iWeb Nav bar with a vertical one I made myself. Problem is, my top button disables itself (and the animation doesn't work) if it overlaps into the "hidden" nav bar area (indicated by a blue rectangle). I can cmd click and drag it into this area, but then all the rest of my site is pushed down the page. Don't know what to do about this. I don't know how to bring the rest of the page up without dragging it also into the designated nav bar area. Also, by doing this, is it affecting my site in ant way? see my site here at www.steveburrowsimages.com

Getting confused here. Anyone got any ideas?Well, you made a good start with SEO by getting rid of the iWeb default navigation since it doesn't help the spiders and, out there in the real world, there are more people than you would think with javascript turned off in their browsers.
One of the downsides of iWeb is that it doesn't allow for the alt attribute in the img tag. Its well worth adding these to give you extra keywords even if you have captioned all your images. Use iWeb SEO Tool for this...

iWeb, just like most drag and drop software, creates a huge amount of code which causes the pages to load slowly in the browser. Running you files through an optimizer will help to reduce this problem and further reduce the size of image files even beyond the initial optimization you do before loading them into iWeb...

Problem with iWeb publishing to IE
Hello, I am experiencing a problem with iWeb '08 publishing content to Internet Explorer. The images and web pages look fine in Safari and in Firefox, but a lot of the web page images are mirrored in IE, covering up large parts of the text. Please don't tell me I have to spend $79.00 on upgrading to iLife '09. I just upgraded my iWorks to '09, but would upgrading to '09 in this instance even be the answer? Please advise. I fear that I will alienating any of my IE web surfers. Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Hello and welcome to the board.
IE is a terrible browser to render pages made with IWeb (I'm not sure upgrading to ILife 09 will fix your problem).
I decided to somewhat "alienate" my IE visitor by putting a message on my home page that recommend them to use a compatible browser. Check my page (using IE here: http://www.wesdotphotography.com/Home.html) and look at the message. Also if you use any other browser you will not see my message and will experience a better browsing. It is not the fault of IWeb but more like Microsoft not writing a proper browser. a lot of people will confirm my say.
Search this forum and you will see a lot of complaints about IE.

Photo file issues with iWeb and Aperture....also too much duplicating!!
A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.

I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?

Aperture ignores edits to Autofill - sticky copyright date
Last year, I used Aperture 3 to add a 2010 copyright notice to my images. This field autofilled when the import window was opened, which was nice - I didn't have to type in the copyright every time. I've been trying to change the copyright to 2011, o
