Tricky middle button on ipod nano

My middle button will just not work sometimes, please comment if this has been happening to you.

Hi Nathan,
This has never happened to me, but you might think about exchanging it for a new one before the warranty runs out.

David

  • The middle button on ipod is not working.  It's not lighting up and I can't change songs.

I can't get the middle button on my ipod to work.  It doesn't light up with the selections.  If I connect it to my computer, it will sync but afterwards, it doesn't light up unless you connect it in the car or computer.

  • Sleep/wake button of ipod nano 6g STUCK!!

I've had an ipod nano 6g for more than a year, and it worked perfectly untill a cupple of days ago when the sleep/wake button got stuck!! i've been reading about this and apparently it has happened to a lot of people, but they have been lucky to have the problem while warranty is still efective. My problem is that my warranty allready expired, so apple will not change it, and i don´t know if the'll even fix it.
Can anyone help me with this, does anyone have the same problem?

Same problem. Many, many people are having this problem. And at the moment, if the warranty has expired, you have to pay to have it fixed. A man at the Ginza Apple Store explained it to me today. Hopefully they'll recall it or allow some sort of exchange program, because this is a major problem with this device.

  • Broken button on iPod nano

Hi, my iPod nano 6th gen lock/wake button recently got stuck/broken/jammed. As far as I know, the iPod is way past its warranty. I can have access to the button but I have to put force to be able to lock/wake/turn off the iPod. If I went to Genius Bar what will they do and is there a way to fix it ??

They'll only be able to do an out of warranty exchange for the prices indicated on this page as they do not actually repair iPods.

The power button does not work, but the ipod connects and works perfectly if I connect via usb cable??
    Any solution?
    Thanks for the help.

Looks like a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is necessary...
Be sure to make an appointment first...

  • Middle button doesn't work for my nano

Just purchased a waterproof nano shuffle. Works great until the middle button stopped working. Is it the nano or something I am doing worng???

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Ignore the reset and when it says place the iPod in recovery mode
Place the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • IPod Nano Buttons locked up

My son got a brand new black iPod Nano for X-mas and within 2 days the buttons locked up. I tried resetting it by holding the Menu and middle button at the same time...several times. That did not work. Then I hooked it up to iTunes and Reset it to factory settings. After it went thru the process it asked what language I wanted, but no buttons will work to select. It's now stuck on the Language screen. And no, the hold button isn't on. I don't know what else to do. Anyone with help?????

On 8 Jan 09, I contacted Apple help desk (as in a live person, not the recorded tech support recording) and asked for a "live" tech support person and actually got one! After walking me through steps other than the already tried, support tech said I would need a replacement. The next day (9 Jan 09), got a box from Apple from FedEx, put my IPod in it and off it went to Apple. Today (12 Jan 09) I came home from Physical Therapy and on my table waiting for me was my brand new IPod and a letter stating that my problem (non-functioning buttons and stuck on Language page) was a defect and enclosed was my replacement brand new IPod. It is working great.
Answer: If it's broken, talk to a live person at Apple and get it replaced.

  • TA44551 My 1-year ipod nano locked up and would not start overnight. The on/off button will not work and stopped holding charge. No water damage, no fall, nothing unusual. I restored it (twice) but it will still not hold charge and on/off does not work.

My 1-year ipod nano locked up and would not start overnight. The on/off button will not work and stopped holding charge. No water damage, no fall, nothing unusual. I restored it (twice) but it will still not hold charge and on/off does not work. I tried to restore it again and charged it in three different locations with different cables. etc but nothing. Suggestions?

    - After charging for 1/2 hour or so, does iTunes see the iPod?  If yes, restore the iPod from backup.
    - If no, se if placing the iPod in recovery mode will make it visible so you can restore the iPod.  For recovery mode see:

  • My Ipod nano power button wont work while headset are in, how do i fix it?

Hello, I got myself a iPod nano 6th gen. and I'm already having  problems with it.  I got it from ebay and it was working all good, expect  one day the power/sleep button just stop working when the headset are plugged in.
so this is how I can somewhat make it  work on it but it still stinks to work with it like this.  When I have  no head set plug in, it works all fine.  The power/sleep button is okay,  the volume button is okay, and the touch screen is okay, but once I  plug the headset set in, if shut off after 1 second, and cant turn it  back on, then if i plug my power cable in then I can use the touch  screes, but the power/sleep button doesn't work as well the volume  buttons.  Now if I do a soft reset with the power button and down volume  and get the apple logo on, I can quickly get the headset plug in and  play the music with out the power cable in, but still cant use the  button at all.   Also when I have it plug in to the power cable then plug  in the headset, it shut off until I replug in the power cable or remove the headset to turn it back on.
How  can I fix this?  I tried the factory reset through iTunes, and it  didn't help.  I try the diagnostic and that didn't help.  Should I just  send it in and pay for the repair cost or what?

The earphones must be pushed very hard into the iPod. So hard, that the white part of the plug must touch the iPod in order for the external speakers to turn off. You will hear a click.
If you do a forum search, you will find this same solution. If it does not work, you will need to take your iPod to an Apple store or call the Apple iPod tech support if still under warranty or you have Apple Care.

  • The volume increase button is stuck on my iPod nano (6th Generation) and I can't turn the volume up. Is there a way to fix it?

I have the iPod nano 6th generation, and I have had it since Christmas 2011 so it isn't that old; recently I went to listen to my music and found that the volume increase button is stuck (basically it's like when you press the volume button down to increase the volume, except it is stuck down like that and won't come back up) but it was only stuck about 3/4 of the way down. For about a week this was ok, I just had to press the button harder to make it go down and increase the volume, but now it won't increase the volume at all and it feels and looks as though the button is stuck the whole way in, even when I press the button with some force. I was wondering if anyone knew how I could fix it or if I need to take it to an apple store for them to fix it?!
Sorry if the way I have explained the problem is confusing, it's difficult to explain but it's extremely frustrating.

This happened to me a few weeks ago.  Instead of taking it to the Apple store and paying $ the 99 service charge ( I did give Apple 139.00 13 months ago! for this ipod), I saturated the end of a q-tip w/ WD 40 and carfefully rubbed around the perimeter of the power button.  I waited a half hour and then cleaned of the excess WD 40.  This unstuck my power button.  I guess the WD 40 dissovled all the dirt under and around (also the consrtuction of the buttons is done w/ double sided tape-- maybe a design issue) the button.  A friend tried isopropyl alcohol w/ great results.  Try this before you give Appple any more $$ or get a new ipod.  It's been 6 wks. and my button functions perfectly,

    Hello all,
I have a 14.88G iPod Nano that I currently use as my primary watch. A week or so ago I started to experience a blank white screen when I press the "sleep/wake" button instead of the watch face (I have it set to wake from sleep to display the clock). When I hard reset it, it will come back fine and the screen will respond and work as normal, as soon as I manually put it to sleep by pressing the "sleep/wake" button and then try to wake it the same thing happens and I have a blank white screen that doesn't respond to touch gestures or anything.
What I have tried so far to no avail:
Numerous hard restarts (holding the "sleep/wake" button with the volume - button).
Tried this: iPod nano (6th generation): Hardware troubleshooting
Changed the watch face to display.
Recharged the device overnight (without full discharge).
Since none of this works I'm out of ideas. Eventhough I have a 6G Nano it should no longer be under warranty since I was sent it as a replacement for a different (older) product.
Any ideas? Is this a known problem? Thanks in advance for any insight any of you could provide. Also, what time is it??
    Regards,

    Hey,
I have the exact same problem as you have described. I also used my ipod as a watch but starting from today, whenever I unlock it the screen turns white until a reset is done. Even a factory reset through itunes didn't fix it.
    Have you found any solution?
    Bah, this is annoying.
