Tried everything - ipad2 still won't connect to home wifi

Situation
- home network wireless router is a linksys wrt54g - no login
- other laptops connect fine
- ipod touch connects fine
- new ipad2 works fine on home wifi until I upgrade to ios5.0.1
- now see three bars in the upper left next to the word ipad, with a spinning circle to the right of that when I open Safari (just hangs trying to open any site)
- new ipad2 works fine on other wifi (office, airplane, public hotspots) both before and after upgrade
- set to DHCP with a local IP address of 192.168.1.102, subnet of 255.255.255.0, router of 192.168.1.1,
What have I tried?
- turning wi-fi off and on w/in the ipad2 wifi networks screen
- hard reset of the ipad2 (home / power until apple logo, then release)
- network settings reset
- forget this network
- power cycling the router and cable modem
- manually deleting the ipad2 from the dhcp clients table via the router admin gui
- switching on and off airplane mode
- adding and deleting a client id from the network screen (by default it is blank)
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

So - after spending an hour on the phone/hold with apple with no solutions - I did a reset of the router - leaving the default SSID of 'linksys' - and it now works.

Help! MacBook Pro won't connect to home wifi but will connect to other networks. Others can connect to my home network. I've tried diagnostics, resetting the router, restarting my computer, and forgetting the network and then trying to access it. Nothing works.

  • MacBook and husband's iPhone won't connect to home Wifi, but my iPhone and iPad will.

As of this week, our home Wifi won't connect our MacBook (2008) or my husband's iPhone 4 to our home Internet.  Our iPad 2 and my iPhone 4 still connect no problem.  We appear to get the signal, but get error messages about not connecting to the Internet with browsers.
We've tried turning things off and on, forgetting and re-adding networks, and copying info from my phone to his, but have all been unsuccessful.
We share our Internet with our neighbor and nothing has changed with that.  We asked her to turn off/on the router and/or modem with no change.
The ONLY difference I can think of is my husband started his last semester at school this week and he uses both devices on campus.  He has to use his campus ID and password to get on campus Wifi so he doesn't change any settings, but I feel like its all leading back to that.
Any help would be much appreciated!  Thank you!!!

Forgetting the Network didn't work.  It's dong the same thing.
So if it's a router problem, what can we do?
Two devices work, and two don't...I just don't understand why.
Could it be that too many people have logged into our wireless and now it's out of IP's? Could we ask people who have previously logged into our internet to delete it completely? I don't know if that would free anything up?

  • IPod 5th Generation won't connect to home wifi?

I've had this iPod since this summer and suddenly it disconnected from my home wifi and hasn't connected for two days now. Yes, it will connect to wifi everywhere else such as school. Although, when I come home it fails to connect to our wifi.
I know it isn't a problem with our wifi since all the computers are still connected (along with other Apple products such as Macs and iPhones).
It's only my iPod that won't connect.
Every time I try to connect it says that I have failed with the password and that it's unable to connect. I have tried resetting all settings and also tried resetting my network settings...
Any other ideas? My iPod is version 8.1

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tends to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • Lenovo g50-30 won't connect to home wifi.

Hello everybody, I just signed up to find a solution.
I got a lenovo g50-30 with windows 8.1 about three weeks ago, and I've had a wireless problem ever since. The laptop will connect to my wireless router (Thomson tg582n) but then it shows the limited connection alert. I can navigate for about 5 minutes but right after im unable to do so, while the rest of smart phones and tablets can connect to it. This issue began about five weeks ago with and old macbook I had, but it doesn't seem to have a fix. In college I'm able to connect to the wireless networks without trouble and Ethernet works fine as well. I've tried everything, restarting and restoring the router, changing channels and security encryptions, established the same IP address, I disabled, restored and enabled windows firewall, released and renewed IP, flushed DNS. Disabled and enabled WiFi adapter, uninstalled the drivers and installed them back again. I've seriously done everything I've found without success, so I come to you in desperation. It would mean the world if you could help. Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE HELP (mind the sarcasm)
Anyway guys, I found a pretty good solution that ended my connectivity problems. Just go to your wiifi configuration and properties and choose to stablish a custom DNS server, then type 8.8.8.8 as main server and 8.8.4.4 as the secondary one (These are Google's DNS free servers) And all of your problems will go away. If anything, feel free to ask.

  • Won't connect to home wifi?

why won't this **** thing connect to my home network? It was working previously and now won't connect. wifi is operational with other devices. ***???

Try Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
If that doesn't work, cycle power on your network router.
If neither of those work (unlikely), try resetting your iPhone.  Hold the on/off and home keys together for 7 or 8 seconds till the Apple logo appears.

  • Tried EVERYTHING, iTunes still won't run

    Hi all,
I apologize for the length of this post, but i'm at the end of my rope and want to be as specific as possible, for hope that someone out there can help. I will give you my firstborn child and a massage if you can fix this. Here's the situation:
I've been using iTunes for about 5-6 years now, with no real problems at all.
One day last week (I was running 8.2.1, which had been working fine), I tried to open iTunes, and got the message "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." Tried to open it again, same error message.
Bypassed the desktop shortcut and tried to open iTunes directly from the Program Files... same error message.
    Rebooted, same error message.
    Uninstalled-reinstalled Quicktime, same error message.
    Uninstalled-reinstalled iTunes+Quicktime, same error message.
Then I did a couple of hours of research on multiple forums, including this site, but learned nothing helpful. No matter what I did the error message still came up.
Uninstalled-reinstalled iTunes+Quicktime separately, with Norton turned off, same error message.
Uninstalled iTunes, Quicktime, Apple mobile device support, Apple Software Update, reinstalled everything...same error message.
Went to the Event Viewer in Computer Management (right-click My Computer>Manage), searched for errors or warnings about iTunes, iPod, or Apple.... nothing.
Finally, tonight, performed a COMPLETE PURGE of iTunes from my computer- uninstalled iTunes, Apple Mobile Device Support, Apple Software Update, and Bonjour with the aid of Windows Install Clean-Up. Used Registry Crawler and deleted ALL entries containing "apple" and "itunes" from the registry. Used the XP search function with the little dog picture and deleted ALL "apple" and "iTunes" files (after backing up my music files). Then, confident there was NOTHING iTunes-related left, I went to the iTunes site and installed it.
After installation I opened up Task Manager to watch the Processes tab, and when I clicked "Finish" (with "Launch iTunes after installation" checked), iTunes.exe appeared in the Processes tab for a few seconds, then vanished. As usual. Tried to open it normally, and again... the dreaded error message popped up.
This is ridiculous. I work as an IT technician-I fix things like this for a living, and I cannot for the life of me figure this out! If anyone can help or has input, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it.
    Thanks a bunch in advance.
    Robert

    Katrina-
    iTunes WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was honestly wondering if I would ever be able to say that. Thank you incalcuably much. You need to let me know where to ship my firstborn child to. Here is what I did:
As much research as I had done, I hadn't really grasped that iTunes requires Quicktime to be rock-solid in order to work. Thank you for enlightening me. I searched and found a thread by polydorus that had a link on how to remove Quicktime-
Uninstall with add/remove programs (wouldn't let me- fatal error during installation came up no matter what I tried). I decided to proceed anyway. Rebooted, then deleted the quicktime folder from program files, then deleted the quicktime and quicktimeVR files from system32 folder. Then rebooted again and installed Quicktime standalone. When I double clicked the quicktime icon my jaw DROPPED when it actually opened. So with fingers crossed, I installed iTunes and LO AND BEHOLD, IT LIVES!!
If it helps anyone now or in the future, here's the thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=9901375&#9901375
Thanks again so much Katrina. Now I have another, much less important question. My beloved custom equalizer presets are long gone. I figured this would happen when I started this quest about two weeks ago. When I said I had deleted ALL iTunes files from my computer awhile ago, I lied for the sake of clarity- I had backed up my entire My Music>iTunes folder on a flash drive, plus copied the entire thing into a place on the hard drive where I knew iTunes wouldn't find it and possibly get confused during installation or something. Are those EQ presets by chance stored in this folder? And is there a way to back them up in the future?
    Four-hundred UPS truckloads of "Thanks!"

  • IPhone 6 won't connect to home WiFi - Password Incorrect!

So, I got my brand new iPhone 6 yesterday.. Everything seems to work fine, except for internet connection..
Every time I attempt to connect, it rejects me, and tells me that the password is incorrect.
I also, can't really reach the the network by walking only 10 meters away.. I really have to stand right next to the router to get a chance.
I've tried reseting my phone completely, and it still doesn't work.
I can easily connect at school, that why I really can't decide if it's a hardware issue, or if it's my home network.
I just don't get it... Because we're a lot of users at home, we got tons of devices connected to the specific network. And its working impeccable.
So my question is.... Does this have something to do with iOS 8 and it's wellknown bugs, or do I have to get my iPhone replaced?

I just tried this and it worked, hopefully it works for you too, I have spent the last 3 hours trying to figure this out and nothing worked, I tried rebooting both my phone and the router, turning the airplane mode, etc etc I even took the password requirement off my router and still it would say "unable to join network"
All along it was my router and not my phone.
The routers have a list of allowed devices, called MAC filtering addresses, I had to manually add my phone's address and that fixed the "incorrect password issue"
I went to General > About > Wi-Fi address (copy that long number/letters thing) then log into your router and access the MAC filtering allowed devices list and enter that address in there and save it, that indicates to your router that your phone is allowed to access the network.
As soon as my husband added that address I tried entering the network password on my phone and finally it connected
    Good luck!

  • Ipod touch won't connect to home wifi?

the wifi was working fine until yesterday and now the connection won't even show up even though it works fine on my laptop. i've tried turning the ipod off and on, i've tried resetting the router, i've tried resetting the network settings on the ipod, still nothing. i can't do the thing where you hold down the power button and the home button because the power button is broke and the home button is almost broken as well. please help!!!

I have the same problem. I tried restart, restore software (even though it is brand new!), reset network settings, restarted modem + router. All my other non-Apple wifi connection are perfectly fine. Just the same message: "UNABLE TO JOIN THE NETWORK".

  • Just upgraded to ISO8 and now my iphone 4s won't connect to home wifi - keeps telling me that the password is incorrect when it's not - help please.......

Please help me - I've just upgraded my Iphone 4s to ISO8 and now I can't connect to wifi - was at my friends yesterday - always use his wifi and even though the password was correct, it wouldn't accept it.  Came home and had the same problem.  I can't use my data plan as it wouldn't be enough so now it's chewing through it.........The only thing I did different was upgrade......... I'm not computer savy so please leave me step by step instruction on how to fix if you can.  I've tried rebooting etc and turning everything off - no luck.......

Have you tried resetting the network settings? Sometimes starting from scratch solves the issue and it is the simplest way I can think of that may solve your problem.
    1. Go to Settings > General > Reset
    2. Then select Reset Network Settings
    3. Enter your password when it requests it
After the phone finishes the reset try adding your Wi-Fi again and see if that works. If not, I would back-up your phone to your computer, then reset the whole phone by following the same instructions above, but choosing Reset All Content and Settings at step two. Make sure you backup your phone first though! Otherwise you will lose all the stuff on your phone when you make this selection.
    Good luck!

I am also providing you with a screenshot of what appears! I need photos on my iPad2

You don't see it on the left-hand side of iTunes - you need to connect and select the iPad on the left-hand side, and then one of the tabs on the right-hand side that you use to select which content to sync to the iPad should be Photos : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4236
You will need to select and sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent sync remains on the iPad, not including photos in a subsequent sync is how you delete them from it.

My iPad2 3G won't connect to 3G.  It used to (bought Nov 2011) but hasn't for a couple weeks.  The AT&T account is current.  I've tried turning off the wifi but it still won't connect to 3G. Any ideas?

Have you tried using it in a different location; say in the town center.
    Also try a Reset.

Again without stating the trouble shooting steps you have taken, its hard to direct you with any information.
Try a different port on the computer.
Does the iphone beep when u plug it up. ?
Plug iphone into computer and give it 3 to 4 minutes to see if it connects and is running slow.,
Delete the apple mobile device from your computer.
    Upgrade itunes to newest version.
Is you USB cord defective ?
Any USB 3.0 on your system ? .
Delete or Disable  any antivirus program on your computer ?
I will tell u the problem is your computer not the phone.
We could do this for hours.

Okay ... it's a better bet with a 1067 error message when trying to start the Apple Mobile Device Service, but we'd better check for a LSP issue, as per the following document:
Apple software on Windows: May see performance issues and blank iTunes Store

When you say it "can not scan any wifi network" do you mean it is not detecting Wi-Fi networks?
Is Wi-Fi turned on in Settings > General > Wi-Fi?
Have you tried Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings?
Is it just the home network that the device will not connect to? or any network?
