  • Tried restoring iPad to prepare it to sell, encountered error now iTunes won't recognize.  The iPad just shows the connect to iTunes even after restarting.

I tried restoring iPad1 to prepare it to sell, encountered error during the restore.  iTunes dispalyed a message that there had been an error.  My iPad1 is just showing the image to connect to iTunes, even after i try restarting the iPad1.  I've also restarted my PC and iTunes will not recognize the iPad1.
iTunes is and will recognize my new iPad3 just fine.
How do I get my iPad1 to come back to life?
    Thanks!

No luck.  The article says to press and hold the home button, then plug in the usb cable.  When i do that, I still just have the connect to itunes image on the iPad, and iTunes is not recognizing the iPad.

  • I cannot restore ipad after upgrading to itunes 10.2.2.14

Since upgrading my Ipad to latest revision of Itunes,  I can no longer sync and it now requires a restore.  I took the Ipad to Best Buy and they restored it,  but when I connected it back onto my PC,  same thing happens.  When I goto restore screen and click on restore,  the block of info that comes up with ref X says, Software for this Iphone is not currently available. Make sure you  have the latest version of Iteunes and try again.  I check upgrade and it says I am current.  What gives.???  This is second time for me in last year after an upgrade once before.

Same problem but using Windows 7 32 bit (German version).
    De-installing and re-installing iTunes didn´t help.
I "downgraded" back to iTunes 10.1.2 and the error vanished.

On FileHippo go to the iTunes page. On the right you´ll see earlier versions.
And I had to replace my library file with the back-up version from yesterday.

  • Restoring iPad after updating to ios 7 caught in loop

So I've been restoring my ipad for the past three hours. It'll restore and then it will go back to the welcome screen and ask me to restore it all over again. This is probaby the seventh time I've restored it. Any way to get out of this loop?

I saw this response in another post and it worked for me.
    Hi,
Also saw this happening - in a loop with restore from ios 4.4 > 7.0 after upgrading via itunes on PC
Looks like as it was an old ios version it didn't have any of the icloud setup on it, so setup assistant, even though it had all media and apps restored after the upgrade, assumed it hadn't been setup
Just click on setup as a new ipad, it will ask you to log in to icloud and then ask about setting up backups automatically e.t.c. - just go through the options and it will then exit the setup assistant and finish the upgrade to ios 7
    hope that helps

  • Unable restore iPad after 5.1 update due to "corrupt backup"

I'm getting a corrupt backup message after updating iPad to 5.1 from iTunes on a Windows 7 HP laptop: “iTunes could not restore the iPad "iPad" because the backup was corrupt or not compatible.” I also have an iPhone 4 which I updated a while earlier without any problems.
Looking up community recommendations, I deleted older backups, still no dice. How do I restore my iPad? Have tons of stuff so factory restore not acceptable. Can you help?
    Here’s what I did:
    1) ITunes->Edit->Preferences->Devices: deleted older backups
    2) Shut down iTunes
    3) C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup: deleted (actually moved to another location) all backups except most current backup.
    4) Rebooted
    5) Started iTunes
    6) Reconnected iPad
    7) Selected "Continue Restore"..
    Get same error.
    Any help appreciated.

Hmmmmm... Should I say Yes or No to your question? After resetting the IPad I restored the Backup with the personal data from ICloud and the Apps were re-downloaded from the App-Store and installed. But the gamedata was not deleted because it was backuped in the cloud.

  • HT4623 How to avoid "restoring" iPAD after attempt to update to latest version of iOS 7?

After I downloaded a new app to my iPad from my MacBook Pro, iTunes message asked me to update to latest version (iOS 7 already installed). Process took longer than expected and message requests to "restore the iPAD." Is there anyway not to do that?

Are you a developer?  If so, post this question in the developer forum.  If not, why are you using a beta version of ios 7?  You need to restore your device as NEW in itunes and update the current software version.

  • Cannot restore iPad after incorrect password lock

I have incorrectly entered my passcode into my my iPad to the point where it is now telling me "iPad disabled connect to iTunes." But when I attempt to connect the iPad to my computer I am presented with another error message on iTunes which says "iTunes could not connect to "iPad" because the iPad is locked and in lost mode." the iPad is not in Lost Mode as I have checked via my iPhone so I don't know why this error is presented. To add to the problem, if I attempt to Restore the iPad using Recovery Mode I am presented with another error message that the network connection has timed out, hence the iPad has now become completely unusable.

    Hey DTl315,
At that point you will need to put your iPad into recovery mode and then use iTunes to restore it. Take a look at the article below to walk you through this. If you have a back up in iTunes or in iCloud, you can put that back on after the restore done.

  • Why restored windows after crash is with random order?

I use new windows for grouping taks and tabs in each taks. If browser crash then after restoring windows is in random order.

Why do you doubt that a particular driver may be causing crashes? This is not an unusual thing. Do you have any evidence or reasons for dismissing this (e.g. Apple's touchpad drivers are user-mode)?
Regarding the issue, I am experiencing the same problem. After upgrading the trackpad driver I started getting BSODs and other odd behavior.
Yes, it's an Apple driver issue, as are some of the audio problems Windows is having. The audio noise/corruption is being caused by Apple's wireless driver. Some users are reporting good results by replacing Apple's wireless driver with a downloaded Windows broadcom driver. Sorry I don't have a link but it's been posted on this forum.
I believe the OP mentioned several applications were upgraded.

  • Firefox will not restore session after crash

Hello, I am writing because whenever I resume Firefox (like from a crash or restart), it will not reload my previous pages. Instead it will only open a new window and I have to dig through my history to find and reload the pages from my previous session. Firefox is set to remember history and to show my windows and tabs from last time.
My Firefox version is up to date (although it seems that the version doesn't matter). I have gone into about:config, set browser.sessionstore.max_tabs_undo to 40, set browser.sessionstore.max_windows_undo to 10, and reset broser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash to true. None of that has helped and the latter kicks back to false every time Firefox restarts.
I have had this issue occur a couple of times in the past, and if I recall, I had to create a new account. If told how to, I can do this again, but I would prefer to get to the root of the problem to prevent this from occurring again (plus I'd hate to lose all my history again). If anyone can help me with this, I'd greatly appreciate it. If you need to know anything else, feel free to ask. Thank you.

I have finally found a working solution with help from Zzxc.
You do have to create a new profile, but you can save everything from browser history to ad-ons to dictionary. It even restored the pages I had open in the old profile.
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles
This shows you how to create a new profile. I left the old one and named my new one as "name" - New Default - "current date"
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Profiles#How_to_find_your_profile
This shows you how to find all of your information and settings for both profiles. It shows you what file is what (so you can pick and choose), but if you just copy everything from inside the old profile folder and paste it into the new profile folder, you should be gold.
This seems to have worked for me. If it turns out that I copied and pasted the problem as well, I will post it here, but as of now, everything appears to be in working order. Thanks.

  • Trouble to restore ipad after updating

    Hi
I updated my new ipad air to the last version 7.1.1.
    All my apps disappeared
I put the ipad on the itunes and i tried to recover from a backup.
    No apps
I tried to find an extractor to see if my backup is complete and it is!
I can see all my apps and their content. I saved the extract to my desktop.
    And now???
I don't know how to do to put the apps back on my ipad
    could somebody help me please...
    kaydy

Your apps are not explicitly stored in a backup.
Have you done something to change Apple ID?  That is what it sounds like.  Make sure you're using the same Apple ID as you used to purchase the apps.
Once you have that set up, at worst you can go to the iTunes Store (on your computer), click "Purchased" on the right, and find your apps there.

  • Need to restore iTunes after crash

I am running iTunes on XP Pro and had it set up nicely to sync with my iPhone. Then my computer crashed and I had to do a fresh OS install.
Now when I connect my iPhone to my PC and it startes up iTunes, I get a message saying that my iPhone usually syncs with a different computer and I think threatens to wipe my iPhone clean of apps, songs etc.
I do have a backup of my files from before the crash. Does anyone know what I need to do in order to recreate the relationship between my phone and iTunes? I'm guessing there are a few files that I can copy form the backups I made to the newly installed iTunes folders?
    Thanks.

All iTunes content including 3rd party apps is stored in an iTunes named folder located in your Music folder.
If you included the iTunes named folder with your computer's backup, with iTunes quit place the iTunes named folder from your computer's backup in the same location - in your Music folder.
You will also need to re-authorize your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes if you haven't already done so.

  • Restoring libraries after crash!

how do I reload a library file after a hard drive failure?

    hi bigredergib!
hmmm. the library information (playlists etc) is stored in the itunes library files. did you back up copies of those?
What are the iTunes Library files?
... it might be worth incorporating backing up those into your back-up regime. these Buegie posts are good resources on these matters:

I just upgraded my iPad from 4.3.3 to the newest - I think 6.1.3.  I cannot find my photos and videos.  I tried a restore, but after 3 hours, it's timing out.  Pardon my ignorance on asking this question; but is there a way to find my photos?  I do nto care about anythign else.
Here are the steps I though I took this morning:
    Backup iPad
Connect to iTunes and downlaod newest version of iTunes and then newest iOS
    restart Vista Laptop
    upgrade to newest iOS
I knew somethign was wrong when it took about 6 hours to upgrade the iPad
at the end it errored with this message error (-50), but the upgrade worked
I was expecting to see all my photos but didn't see them
I have tried a restore to a back up 2 times.  The first time took 3 hours and just sort of timed out - it kept saying that there was an hour to go
I tried it again 2 hours ago and same message.
They are very valuable to me and so now I am panicking
    Your help is much appreciated

    Hi Eric Ferguson,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For troubleshooting on this, take a look at this article:
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
    Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Best of luck,
    Mario
