Tried system recovery and it failed now windows won't load windows

My computer (HP G71) was giving me some problems, so I saved my files to an external drive and tried to do a system recovery. When I ran the system recovery, I got an error message that said it could not do this and to reboot. I clicked the "OK" button. When it rebooted, it just sat at a black screen, Windows never came up.

Hi,
No, the method I suggested will not work if you can't read the entire 25 character activation code.
How have you tried running a system recovery - was it from the partition on the Hard Drive or from a set of Recovery DVDs?

Sounds like the new drive is not being recognized. Could be it's a SATA3 drive with a 6Gb/s transfer rate and needs to be jumpered down to 3. But if the 2007 is 1.5, it may not work at all, even if jumpered down. Other possibility is a not properly secured cable or a cable that's come loose from the logic board.
What is the model of the 2007 Mac? What's the new drive? Did you do the installation or was it done by a shop?

I just uninstalled it and am waiting for it to reinstall. I sincerely hope that I have not lost everything that I worked on so hard. Now that mobile me is gone, I have not been able to go between devices to transfer things. I was merely trying to take a document I had worked on and open it in pages, but it said my version was too old. When I updated, it wouldn't load. Now I cannot do anything. What model iPod do you have? If yo have a 2G iPod. many developers when they updated their apps to support iOS 5 and 6 dropped compatibility for iOS 4.2.1 and earlier.

I just updated my operating system to OSX 10.7.4. Now Safari won't load.
I ran disc utilities and it still wont load. It tells me that Safari quit unexpectedly and gives me the option to submit a report of to re-open.
I have tried to find an updated Safari online but only find 5.1.7 updates for Windows.
What do I need to do to get Safari back?

Now quit Safari.

If you're on windows try the following:
This worked for me an hour ago and has allowed me to sync ok. Still haven't tried downloading the new version 5 to the phone yet as I'm still backing up photos etc just in case.
1. Quit itunes
2. Start an elevated command prompt (Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> right click Command Prompt -> Run as Administrator)
3. Once in the command prompt type the following 3 words starting where your cursor is flashing: netsh winsock reset
4. press ENTER
5. Reboot your machine
6. Restart itunes & connect device to sync
7. Good luck

Try this from MacFixIt as well:
In the case of drive directory damage or problems with permissions, the solution is usually to use Apple's Disk Utility to repair the disk. Of course, you won't be able to perform this operation normally (simply launching the Disk Utility application, located in Applications/Utilities, and initiating a disk repair) if your system will not startup. So two options exist:
* Insert your Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) media (DVD or CD) and restart the computer while holding down the "C" key. Once the computer has booted from the installation disc, select "Utilities" from the menubar and open Disk Utility. Repair the disk, then quit Disk Utility and restart your system.
* Alternatively, you can repair the disk while booted in single user mode if you do not have access to a retail Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger) DVD/CD. To startup in single user mode, hold down the "Command" and "S" keys simultaneously at startup. Once properly booted, type the command fsck at the prompt. Repeat these process until no errors appear.

Do you use McAfee Antivirus/Firewall/Security products? McAfee released a security update that is blocking Firefox 3.6.11. This should be cleared up with the next McAfee update.

Ever since I updated firefox to 3.5.16 java ahs stopped working. Drop down menu's in ebay don't, windows from links (such as tracking in ebay) don't work, pogo game windows won't load or will load the widow frame but not the game itself. I work online and run and online business and this wastes a lot of my time. Idon't want to use IE but might have to - I have looked in the forums and online and can't find a solution.
