Trying to install iTunes on Windows 8.1.  Apple Application Support was not found.  Error 2.  Uniinstall iTunes and try again, does not work.  Is there a fix?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

  • Trying to repair iTunes on Windows Vista will not allow to do so except to uninstall it

Trying to repair iTunes on Windows Vista. Will not allow me to do it. I've followed the instruction to select the programme in control panel, the select 'repair', unfortunately, the only option available to me is 'uninstall.' Therefore, I tried to uninstall with a view to reinstalling the whole programme but it wouldn't let me do this either because the .msi file could not be found.
    Can anyone out there help??

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • HT1926 I tried to update iTunes in Windows 7, but the program said not enough permission to start services.

I tried to update iTunes in Windows 7, but the program said not enough permission to start services. I tried to reinstall iTunes, but the same message showed up. Do I need to uninstall Apple Mobile Service. I tried but I couldn't uninstall it. What should I do?

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (Later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or by right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.

Trying to install itunes on windows vista and get the following error message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly "Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKey Token="1fc8b3b9a1e3b",process orArchitecture="x86"". A broken Windows Modules Installer then. It's a bit of an involved fix getting past it, but we've had success here with it in the past.
First, I'd strongly suggest setting up a system restore point.
Now try the Scenario III treatment from the following document:
Windows Update Error 80070424 in Vista
Head back into Windows Update and attempt to get updates again. If they still fail, this time with an 8000FFFF error code, try the following Microsoft document:
    Windows Update error 8000FFFF
If you get Windows Updates flowing again, stock up on any you're behind on (restarting the PC when requested to do so). This may take some time and may have to be done in several batches, depending on how far you've fallen behind. Basically, keep going back to Windows Update until it stops offering you new updates.
After the updates have been installed, restart the PC one more time (in order to ensure that any pending installs requiring a restart have been resolved).
Now try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the 0x80070424 this time?

When trying to install iTunes to Windows 7 64-bit, I get a side-by-side error. Has anyone else seen this problem and were you able to resolve installing iTunes? If so, how did you resolve it?

    Hi
    Hope you are fine there!
recommend that you attempt to resolve this issue by uninstalling iTunes and QuickTime, and then reinstalling the latest version of each. To do this, first ensure that you are logged in to an Administrator user account on your computer, then follow the instructions in the appropriate article:

I am trying to update Itunes in Windows XP but after going through the the installation process I am getting a message saying "The Older Version Update cannot be removed. Contact your technical support". What do I do???

"The Older Version Update cannot be removed. Contact your technical support".
Doublechecking before proceeding. Is it saying the older version of Apple Software Update cannot be removed, or some other program? (Several different program names can be mentioned in this context.)

  • Trying to install iTunes on Windows 7 to replace corrupted program.  After download, I get ERROR 7 (Windows Error 193) and iTunes won't work.

I've had iTunes on my PC for years (Windows 7 now).  I ran an offered Apple iTunes update recently which seemed to mess up the system.  When trying to open iTunes, I get the error "Error 7 (Windows error 193)."  I've tried to repair iTunes, removed all iTunes files and install as new, etc.  Nothing works.  The same error message comes up.  Also, during installation, I get the message:
Service 'Apple Mobile Device' (Apple Mobile Device) failed to start.  Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services.
    ABORT     RETRY      IGNORE
I've tried RETRY and IGNORE with no success.

  • Trying to load iTunes onto Windows XP

Sorry I posted this on the wrong forum before.... J :o)
    Hello!
I bought my iPod on Friday. My pc runs on Windows XP and I have Norton as a virus scanner.
Installed the iTunes/Quicktime from the cd-rom no problem. When I opened iTunes it told me there was a new version to download. I started downloading and with 56mins to go I received an error (sorry, can't remember exact msg).
Spent much of yesterday putting songs onto my playlist. no problem. Last night I connected my iPod up to my pc and it recognised the usb; the new hardware. Going great! Prompted to register my iPod.. done! Then when iTunes opened up it prompted for to choose if I wanted automatic updating of my iPod and after I clicked OK it then said there were user files missing.
I rebooted my pc and this time when I plugged my iPod into a usb port I got a message saying a device malfunctioned (if I turn my iPod on I have a white screen with a folder with an !). I tried downloading iTunes again. After the iTunes/Quicktime bar fills up I get a msg saying "some application files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and download again". I went through that process twice.
Today I updated updates with Microsoft (Windows XP SP2) and again tried to download iTunes with the same msg above. I've also uninstalled (well I thought I did) iTunes from the cd-rom that came with my iPod yet I can still open iTunes.
Can anyone give me some feedback in what I can do to make my iPod work?
    thanks heaps in advance
    Jaxster :o)
