Tried to edit my site in iweb, gave me two homepages.. help?

hi prob a real noob question but i published my site with iweb and decided i wanted to change the theme and when i published my new site it created a new site thats not my homepage, my homepage is still the original theme, when i view my site from option box after publish it shows new site but its not my home adderess in my URL box its basiclly myhomepage/myhomepage/home.html when i go to www myhomepage com it shows my old site.... any help would be the greatest before i clean out the FTP and load fresh, its pretty big... that seems like the long way tho... thanks!

okay after a little more poking around and research i found that ( i think ) this happened due to me transfering my site to local folder then uploading using iweb SEO, when you publish a entire sight with iweb it creates a new folder in you root that is named after the sight name you added when setting up ftp.
So i now have my site loaded in to my filemanager twice, if i make changes in iweb and "publish changes" it changes the "second" site which nobody see's because its not my real homepage URL ,like i said nobody looks at this except me when i click "visit my site" after publish and it takes me to my revised webpage. Which fooled me untill i went to my site via bookmarks.
http://www.mysite.com/home.html                                (real site up and working)
http://www.mysite.com/my_site/home.html                    (the one iweb revises thats not my real homepage)
in effect iv'e lost the ability to publish just my changes in iweb, i now have to publish entire site to local folder and upload entire site via iweb SEO (which must be done anyways to add/keep meta's and titles but i haven't assingened them yet)  this overrights my real website, but is ALOT more time consuming everytime i want to make some small changes, HOW DO I FIX THIS???/
ive read of renaming the site in the ftp setup in iweb to your "default" page but i can't figure that out.  Any pointers would be so appricitated THANKS

I'd like to edit my site from iWeb on two computers, is this possible?
I started creating my site on a PB 15", but when I'm home I like the speed of my iMac and I'd like to continue the editing process on my iMac but I can't find the files that iWeb saves.
I'd ideally like to save my site on my 30gig iPod using it as a hard drive between both. I would love for this to happen but I can't find the files saved by iWeb. Is this even possible?
I've even tried linking my PB to my iMac via firewire as a hard drive. No Luck.

I think iWeb only recognizes the 'domain.sites' file so while you can set up more than one site, they are in the same project.
Of course, the workround is to move the domain.sites file out of the default location, which them makes iWeb create a new one. You can then work on any number of projects, only moving the correct file into the default location for work on each one. Not elegant by any means, but until someone suggests a better way (or Apple produce a more flexible version of the software) it works fine that way.

  • Noob Used iWebsites, now can't edit/find site in iWeb

Used iWebsites to allow for multiple sites with .Mac. Now "New Site" is the default (even if I delete it). When I launch iWeb "New Site" keeps reappearing
(with no files visible in iWeb).
The site I'm looking for (my original site, which still comes up online) is visible in the iWebsites dialog, but I can't find/open/edit it (even when I make it the "default").
Please help! (Is it lost forever...just floating out there in cyberspace??)

You shouldn't have to do that on the Mac or Windows.  Only thing I could find that would suggest loading files from there is a tutorial by David.  And although I would normally agree with him, keeping the files in a system library folder for a testing environment is really unnecessary.  I'd recommend moving them into your /Users/{username}/Sites folder.  There is already a modification to the apache server to recognize that as http://localhost/~{username}.  Or install something like MAMP that is in the Applications folder.

Anyone can save the page locally, including CSS and any JS,
    you don't
need FTP details to do that.
The banner needs to go in the element with the class called
    .main-subcontent
Look in the code for this comment <!-- B.3 SUBCONTENT
    --> and <!-- C.
    FOOTER AREA -->
The code in-between those comments is the section you are
    after.
Before making any changes/additions make a backup first.

  • Error Message received when trying to edit page

I have received this following message when trying to edit a site page in SharePoint or in SharePoint designer. I haven't ever seen this error message before and am not really sure what the issue is. I am not the owner of this
particular site but merely an owner of a specific page on this site so I am limited in my ability to troubleshoot but the actual owner is stuck on what the potential issue is and how to resolve this. I manage and own three seperate sites myself and have never
seen this issue so I am trying to assist in any way I can.  Any ideas whats the issue?
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerParserErrorException: The message received from the server could not be parsed. Common causes for this error are when the response is modified by calls to Response.Write(),response filters, HttpModules,

    Hi,
We need more information of the issue page. As suggested by Mokhtar, you could check if the issue is related to permission.
The issue might also occurs to the page which is developed based Ajax registration. Then it might be caused by AAM configuration.
And you could also refer to the link below if the issue is related to SSRS:

  • Is it possible to edit your site remotely, without using MobileMe?

...please tell me there's [free] a way to do this without MobileMe (which I believe is the awesome, though dreaded, $100/yr program offered by Apple)? Please let me know.

MobileMe has nothing do to with creating and editing a site with iWeb. but you do need a Mac computer running iWeb and have a current copy of the Domain.sites2 file that was used to create the site. If this is what you mean this online MacWorld article might be of interest: Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs.

  • Old site, new iWeb

    Hi all,
i've just installed iWeb '08; now, how can i modified the web site i've done with iWeb 06?
    Bye, Marco.

    MarcoGT2, physiocare,
iWeb08 operates much the same way iWeb06 did; it still keeps everything created in the application in a single file, Domain.sites. Even if you create more than one site in iWeb, by default all sites will be stored in this single file.
Navigate to your existing Domain.sites file. You will find it in this location on your hard drive. Before you go any farther, you must make certain that you have a copy of this Domain.sites file available for a backup, should you encounter problems updating your site in the new version of iWeb.
Copy the file to an external drive, if you have one. Flash drives work great for this, or even an iPod. For lack of anything else, burn a copy to a disk, and place an archived copy in a separate folder elsewhere on your machine.
Once you have backed up this file, navigate back to it and double-click it. iWeb08 will inform you that the file needs to be updated. Click yes, and your Domain.sites file will be upgraded to a Domain.sites2 file.
You are now ready to edit your site in iWeb 2.0.1.

  • I am trying to edit my website which was composed in iweb. I have my website saved on my hard drive. When I open iweb, I can't seem to load the website folder into iweb for editing purposes. Anyone know a quick solution to this?

I am trying to edit my website which, was composed on iweb about 2 years ago. I have the website stored on my hard drive. When I open iweb, I can't figure out how to load the website into iweb for editing purposes. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

You need to migrate to a modern, supported webpage development application and leave iWeb behind.  It hasn't been supported for 2 years now and was behind the curve feature wise when it was dropped by Apple.
One app that many have migrated to because it is very similar to iWeb in the GUI and features is Everweb.  It has a demo version that you can try.  Text and photos from you current published site can be copied and pasted into Everweb to help the migration over.
There are other possible candidates.  Just search the iWeb forum for "iWeb alternative" or "iWeb replacement" to get a list of topics discussing them.

  • Constant error message when trying to publish sites in iWeb 2.0.1

    Dear All,
I have a few sites in iWeb (mostly from iWeb 1) and after upgrading to iWeb 2, finding my old sites again and installing the update I decided to build a new site. On completion and trying to publish I get:
Publish Error: An unknown error occurred.
I've tried "publishing all" instead but no change. No problems with iDisk, Firewalls, .Mac etc, however it won't publish to a folder either so it must be the program. Any ideas? Apparently the 2.0.1 update was supposed to fix this, but obviously not.
    Alex

    Alex,
If it won't publish to a folder then there is an element/file in the site that iWeb 2.0.1 is choking on. Normally, even when iWeb produces a publish error during upload to .Mac, it will still write the html locally, to a folder.
Check to see if you have some unusual file extensions on pics or movies.
You can test the worthiness of your iWeb app by making a simple page with a blank Domain.sites file and seeing if you can publish it to a folder.

  • Edit actual site name in iWeb

Sorry but I've searched this topic and can't find anthing relevant.
All I want to do is edite the Site name in iWeb. I have the Site Publishing Settings window up and set to Publish to Mobile Me with the side bar to the left. At the top of the sidebar it shows the name of my site. Say it is PlanetEarth and I want to edit to planetearth. If I try this the site name reverts as soon as I tab out of the field. Same with the Site name field in the Publishing (top) section of the window.
    Help would be appreciated.

OK got it. Seems to work if I right-click and rename.

  • How do I edit a site I made in iWeb 06 with iWeb 08?

I have an older site that I made in iWeb 06 that I would love to edit in my newer iWeb 08. Here's the catch - iLife 08 is on another, newer machine and I have already created two sites with my iLife 08. Is this possible to do?

Easily done. You just need to move the Domain.sites file from the older machine running iWeb06 to the new machine.
Make a few backup copies of this Domain file, because it contains all of your work, created in iWeb. It lives on your hard drive in your Home folder's Library/Application Support/iWeb. Once you have backups of this file, transfer it to the new machine using an external device of some sort (flash drives work good for this). Put it on the desktop and double-click it. iWeb08 will launch, prompting you to update this Domain file. Click update, and you are on your way.
You can put the domain file in it's default location, on the new machine (Home folder/Library/Application Support/iWeb), or keep it in it's own folder.
