Tried to finalize my movie.  Not enough heap(?)

Tried to finalize my 28 minute imovie.  Aftrer 2 plus hours computer said "error, not enough HEAP"  How do I correct that.   I must add that I did finalize once completely but had to redo part.

It means that there is not enough free space on your hard drive for the swap files iMovie generates.

  • Imovie 11 Can't Export Movies NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN THE HEAP ZONE!

I have plenty of space on my hard drive, no other programs are running, and the video being exported is only 6 minutes and 57 seconds long.
I am working on a short film and 90% of the time that I try and export it in 720 I get an error, because there is not enough room in the heap zone. Then after I restart the computer if I am lucky I can get it to export 1 out of 10 trys. It has nothing to do with the title I give the video.
I need the video exported in 1080, but it gives me the same error EVERY TIME! Even when I export to quicktime and use various settings I keep getting the same heap zone error. What is the deal!?! I have exported an hour long documentary and didn't have this problem. I erased all my previous projects and events and still I get this error
    UNABLE TO EXPORT MOVIE
The movie could not be exported because an error occurred. (Not enough room in the heap zone /)
    HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I have the same problem when trying to export a 720P movie to iTunes.  Reboot did not help nor did renaming the project.  I have an older MacPro with dual 3.0s, 11 Gb Ram and slightly less than 1Tb free space on the boot drive.  This is a software issue, not a hardware problem.  Apple please fix the myriad of problems with iMovie 11.   My productivity has ground to a halt with my 4 month old iLife Software.  How did this software ever pass muster!!!!!  I can't believe anyone would purchase the new version of Final Cut given the horrible product you've included with the last iLife Set.  This is an example of why I left the Microsoft Windows community.  SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!   I usually create 4 to 5 movies a month for the flying community I live in.  I have completed one since January, and it was a mess due to software glitches.   My attempt to re-render an old iMovie 9 creation has been met with failure.  I have projects backing up and really have no desire to finish them or create others as iMovie 11 is no longer fun since it is broken.   I'm tired of iPhoto 11 and iMovie crashing or not working and the reason for spending more on an Apple product no longer exists.  Outdated expensive hardware and buggy software.   Time to sell my APPL stock like Bob Mansfield,  You're ignoring your core supporters and are living off the hype of the iPhone/iPad.  The poor economy has allowed your "halo effect" to endure many recent short-comings - (Mobile Me (how slow and expensive can it be to stream a personal home movie - but don't worry you don't need Blu-Ray)), Mail (why do I keep getting duplicate emails in my drafts folder? and why is it always losing my password - just like Mail on my iPhone), Never providing a stable video card for 2006 Mac Pros, Crippled iPhone 4 for Verizon, no iPad Flash support, iLife Crapware)............where's the Tylenol!!!!!   I need it since I promised an iMovie project for a friend's memorial that I am now unable to deliver.

  • Can't download itune movie, not enough space 6gig available?

Can anyone help, I have approx 6 gig of space available, but I cannot download a movie I purchased from iTunes, I get the message not enough space available, use settings to manage?

    Both are true.
Your have lost of iCloud space.
The problem is you need space on the iPhone.
    On the iPhone
Setting > General > Usage select Storage
See what is taking up space on the iPhone.
             Delete what you don't need.

  • HT203163 error message trying to access iTunes store: "not enough memory"

We've used AppleTV for years, but suddenly cannot log-in to view purchaed TV shows, cannot buy tunes from computer or iPhone, etc.  When trying to log-in the error message says "not enough memory" on the computer; on Apple TV it says: "Account log-in failed; try again later"

It's typically related to security software issues, gayle. If you're running Kaspersky security software, try switching off Kaspersky Parental Controls. Otherwise, see:

  • Tried upgrading to itunes 9 not enough space

Now itunes can't even open, how do I go back to a previous version of itunes? Maybe this is a sign to stop downloading from itunes because I am so sick of the frustration with it and having to upgrade every 2 weeks. Can't open it now so I'm done with the itunes store!!!

I also have this issue. It's one I've had over and over again over the years on both my original iPhone and my iPhone 3G-S.
It's infuriating and until I have an update, there isn't anything I can seem to do about it.

  • Try to burn Blu Ray. It says: Not enough disc space

    Hi everybody,
I try to burn a blu ray disc. My Blu Ray Writer is: HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH10LS30
    I use 25GB BD-R Discs from Verbatim.
If I try to burn a 20GB *.iso file, every tool I tried says immediately: There is not enough disc space. What is wrong?
Even if I try to burn smaller files to Blu Ray, it always says: There is not enough disc space.
    I'm confused
    Regards
    Maik from Germany

The 'There is not enough disc space' message appears immediately. It doesn't matter if the output file is 500MB or 20GB.
I tried different BD-R discs. It is always the same message.
    I found a similar case:
I am trying to burn a blu-ray disc but having problems.
Do I really have to buy a 90$ tool so I can write my movie on BD-R?

so add RAM, then possibly upgrade to the leopard?
Open up your Finder window & check the bottom of the window in the middle.  It will tell you how much HD space you have left.

    Empty the trash!
Open up your application folder & go through all your apps.  Trash all the apps you no longer want and/or use.
An easier way to do this is to open the Application folder in list view & press the Command+j keys.
In the the dialog that appears, click the "This Window Only" button & the "Calculate All Sizes" check box.
Wait a bit until your file & folder sizes have all been calculated, then click the "Size" column to sort your apps from the fattest to the most anorexic.
Get rid of all your photo files you don't want and/or need.  Same goes for those pics off the websites you downloaded (gifs, jpegs, etc.).  Or transfer/move them all to a photo/movie storage site like ImageShack and Photobucket, 2 of the most popular  FREE  storage sites.
Get rid of all your video & music files you no longer view and/or listen too.  Especially, if you already have the actual CD/DVDs or you can later redownload from a website.  Or transfer them all to a FREE video/movies and/or music storage site.
Use Spotlight to make sure you got rid of everything.  You can even trash directly from Spotlight!
Drag what you don't want and/or need to the trash.  Better yet, download this neat little shareware app *demo* called AppZapper.  It basically does all the work for you by not only trashing the apps but the apps preference files, caches & all its associated files.
Another software that does the above is AppDelete.  Best of all this software is free!
Burn what you want and/or need onto CDs or DVDs. Not everyone has the  luxury of purchasing an external HD and/or the system requirements for iCloud to store their "stuff.”
Dropbox is a free storage facility software.
You can check with your ISP to see if they offer *free* storage space.  Most if not all do now-a-days.   There are thousands if not millions of *free* storage facilities on the web also.  Use your favorite search engine to search them out as they come in different storage sizes to fit your needs & wants.
    Check for duplicate fonts.
    Applications>Font Book
    Select “All Fonts”
If you see any “black dots” next to any fonts this mean you have duplicates and/or multiple versions of these fonts.
    To clean this up, select a “black dotted” font or the Apple + *click* to select multiple dotted fonts;
    Edit>Resolve>Duplicates.
What the above does is turns off the duplicates & multiple version fonts.  Not delete them.
More than likely the “extras” were installed by other programs and/or other users.
    Clear out font caches
Use FontNuke.  It does all the work for you.  And, best of all it’s *FREE*.
    Printer Drivers
Get rid of all the printer drivers you don’t need & use except the ones for your *current* printer(s)/scanner(s).
    HD>Library>Printers Folder
If you accidently threw something out that you needed for your printer/scanner it can be easily obtained from the manufacturer’s website and/or from the CD that came w/the printer/scanner.
    Garage Band
Has about 1GB of loops stored.  Get rid of some some them.  You surely don’t use, like and/or need them all.
    HD>Library>Audio/Apple Loops>Apple>Apple Loops For GarageBand
Or just get rid of the Garage Band app altogether if you don’t use it.
    Get rid of extra languages
Strip your computer down to your “native” tongue.
You can do this with a *FREE* utility called Monolingual.  Another app that apparently does all the work for you.  I’ve never used it.  However, a lot of users here swear by & recommend it highly.
However, there is a warning for *native English speakers*. Make sure you keep BOTH English and English (United States).

  • ITunes store says not enough storage. I have plenty. Help!

I have 199 of 200 gigs free.  I bought more storage, thinking I needed it to download a movie I bought.  iTunes store keeps telling me can't download movie, not enough storage.  Any ideas?  Thank you.

You can view the amount of free space that you currently have on your iPad via Settings > General > About > Available, and you can see the amount of space that each app is taking up via Settings > General > Usage > Manage Storage (under the 'storage' heading) - the size of the film should be shown on its description page in the store, if the film is in HD format then it could be over 5 gig in size.
You can copy iTunes downloads over to your computer's iTunes library by connecting the iPad and using the File > Devices > Transfer Purchases menu option - so if you currently have films and/or TV programmes on your iPad then you could copy them over to your computer and then delete them from your iPad to make room for the new film

  • 6680-Voda live streaming-Not enough Bandwidth

Got a Nokia 6680 yesterday and could get the streaming Sky on Voda live no problem. I have tried today, it is saying not enough bandwidth and to check my network settings.
Not sure what to do at this point.
Any help would be appreciated please.

This is probably because you are not in a 3G reception area. The connection will be via GPRS and therefore not sufficient for video streaming (in most cases).
You can generally tell by look at the service indicator what sort of area you are in.

  • Error not enough storage

Tried to install Acrobat, says not enough storage, but there's plenty of storage (c drive has 1 TB remaining).

Have you ensured that there are no memory leaks in your code? Sounds like you may have a leak in your code. If you neglect to close references in your modified VI, you may be creating a leak. The computer is getting slower because you are running out of physical memory and you are swapping in your hard drive to make up for the low memory. You can monitor your resource use with a utility like taskinfo2000 and verify this.

SO I KEEP TRYING TO FINALIZE IMOVIE PROJECT AND... NOT FINALIZE BECAUSE NOT ENOUGH ROOM IN HEAP ZONE?

The experts at a store told me that this usually is a problem of not having enough memory available for the system to finalize the project.  I moved some movies to a hard drive, but still haven't been able to solve the problem.

  • Trying to finalize a project and it says not enough room in heap zone??

I've been trying to finalize an iMovie project that is 12min 35sec but all it keeps saying is not enough room in heap zone.. What can I do about this?? It is so aggravating!! Thanks..

    A. Free Space - On DeskTop - usually top right hand corner there use to be an icon of Your Hard Disk - usually named Macintosh HD. If not then go via [cmd+F] and select it in tool field.
Now after it's selected You can read at the bottom of the frame
number of items selected and - Free Space as here 27,13 GB available
    B. Is there any thing connected to Your Mac - as external hard disks or other devices ?
    C. There can be a problem with iMovie pref file (Very common and especially so if the Mac has been Force/Panic Halted. To test this is easy.
    • Apple Menu and down to System Preferences
    • Accounts - and Create a new one
    • Apple Menu and down to bottom - Log out
    • Log into new Account
Now try iMovie - If it works - the problem is to 95 - 99.9% a corrupted iMovie pref file.

  • How do I export from IMovie when "not enough room in Heap Zone" error code appears?   How can I correct,  what to Do.."export movie" insteand of Media browser or IDVD?  Finalize movie?  I want to burn it to DVD!

How do I export from IMovie to Wondershare Creator to Make DVD and share hour long movie when I am unable to "publish" movie on Media Browser of IDVD because the error code "not enough room in heap Zone/ " appears and function is aborted.
I shortened the movie, that is no cure...Correcting date info on clips does not pertain.  Why would Apple throw roadblocks in your way without solving problems they create?
A techie made an appointment on the phone and was totally incapable of addressing the problem.
    What is a heap zone????

Instead of Share to Media Browser, what happens if you try Share Menu > Export Movie... (choose Large size) and save it to the Desktop?
If that fails try Share Menu > Export using QuickTime...
Then pick Movie to QuickTime Movie, then click on Options... which is just to the right of Export
Under the Video section click on Settings...
Then in the pulldown menu at the top, titled Compression Type: Choose Apple Intermediate Codec. Then click OK. And click OK again, and save it to the desktop. Once the .mov file is created, you can import that into iDVD and most likely it will work in Wondershare Creator if you prefer to use that instead.
