Tried to open new POP account - disaster
Hi there,
I wanted to change over my mail address from one yahoo account to another. When I tried to do this ie: added another account, I typed in exactly the same incoming mail server as the original yahoo address. It tried to check connection to POP server, it connected then tried to log on and came back with this message
'Trying to log into the POP server 'pop.mail.yahoo.com.au' has failed. Please make sure the username and password are correct. If you continue, you may not be able to receive any mail.'
So I deleted the old yahoo account I had going in mail and just entered the new one again. It came back with the same response (the user name and password for new account are DEFINITELY correct, this is not the problem.)
So I thought I'd add the original yahoo account again just so I have a POP account in the Mail program. Well that no longer works! When I tried to log in to POP server, the message appeared to go through, but when I checked my details it says the SSL is off.
Then when I enable the SSL (in the advanced settings of Mail preferences) it imports ALL my emails again since I started using this computer (thousands!!!!!!) But then by the end of that rigmarole, I STILL can use the 'get mail' function to retrieve new mail.
I tried to change my mail setting once before and a similar thing happened. I got some help changing it by logging to my computer as a different user, then.....? I honestly can't remember, it was very complicated. Does this ring a bell with anyone?
Why, oh why can't it be simple to change from one Yahoo address to another on the Mail program? (sigh....)
Did you access to your account with a browser like Safari ? Then you have to quit this account by using "logout". If you don't do this, you can't connect to this account by a pop protocol with a mail software like mail or entourage which manage these mail accounts. I ancountered this problem several times, because I forgot that this makes creating new accounts impossible and connecting to them difficult.

NB. the port is 110 and the 'use SSL' box is NOT ticked (in advanced settings) when old emails coming flooding through into my mail program.
If I tick the box 'use SSL' the port changes, but it doesn't make the Mail program work.
Please see my previous post of a few minutes ago for this to make sense!

I'm trying to open an iTunes account and was asked to provide one of each:credit card details or gift card details.i provided a gift card details and yet I'm being asked to contact the support team!!! Pls can someone help me out on this as I cant enjoy my new iPad 3 without buying apps

Following discussions with Nik Software I have removed all duplicate fonts and tried using a new user account. Neither of the courses of action worked. Have other users experienced these difficulties? Can you suggest an alternative remedy?

My old desktop crashed. My new desktop has the most recent version of Firefox and the new sync feature. Unfortunately, none of my bookmarks from the old desktop/Firefox transferred to the new desktop. My android phone (GS3) and android tablet both still have all of my bookmarks, but I cannot get them to sync to the desktop. I have read (and reread) the instructions for opening new sync accounts for all devices, etc. so that they are all compatible and sync will work again. I am afraid that if I do that, I will lose all my bookmarks from my android devices, and then they will be lost forever, which defeats the whole purpose of setting up new sync accounts. Can you confirm that if I open new accounts on all devices that I will not lose my bookmarks from my phone and tablet, which now have the only record that I can access to recreate them all manually (god help me)on my desktop if that is my only alternative?

I upgraded to an Iphone 5 and open new Icloud account, I then backed up my phone on my brothers Mac Pro, I now want to restore my info to my phone and I get a message that says not enough space. What do I do
Delete all back ups on MacBook and create new back up. Restart his MB and attempt to restore again. Do not forget to erase your iphone 5 before restore.

Mail doesn't allow a new POP Account
Mail doesn't allow me to create a new POP account... I all ready have 3 accounts including .Mac account and 2 more POP mail accounts and works fine!!!!
Last week I re installl all my preference (I clean up my MAC)and always works fine... but not anymore. One of my regular and most important POP account doesn't works and it says that my server is not responding but it does i have install and copy the set up items in other macs and my POP account works!!!!
but not in this computer.. Any help??????Any firewall configured on the machine ? Or ad-blocker or anything third party related to the network ?

Also when I apply the safety copy it only imports the app the phones have had in common, so none of the apps that only the iPhone 4 had doesn't come in, only the ones I and the iPhone 4 has had in common. So you say the only way I can use the Apple ID to download on the old iPhone 4 is if I delete the apps that are in the phone and then download them again? How will that change the ID to download/update from. Won't it still have mine to update/download from?

When Firefox 4 was proposed, I immediately checked the system requirements for Mac user:

MacOS 6"
So I downloaded it, since my OS is 10.5.8 (PPC), I thought I was fine. When downloaded, the Firefox icon showed a Stop sign in the middle: maybe a new logo? But when trying to open it, a window popped up saying this version was not compatible with my system. Therefore, using Time Machine, I reverted back to Firefox 3.6.16.
If this is the case, you should absolutely warn '''PPC''' users not to download Firefox 4. Your version is probably for '''Intel''' versions.

Computor restarting while trying to open new software programs!
Okay! The MSI 7094 motherboard is an old board and I only use it as a secondary option but this is the first time I have ever encountered this problem so I'll try to explain.
I boot up, fine, then I go on-line, fine, I can browse the web without any problems but if I try (for example) to open one of my games on Steam I get an instant reboot. At first I thought it was just a problem with Steam but since then I have tried to open Nvidia System Monitor and the same thing occurs. I have run memtest and I did not get any errors so I think the memory is okay. I also changed the start-up and recovery by unchecking the automatic restart but I cannot even get the bsod to come up. I have not tried opening any other software on my machine but I would imagine that I would get the same result (computer crashing). I have had a look in Bios (health check) to see whether the machine is is running hot but it seems okay.
Can anybody shine a light on this problem before I take drastic action like taking the computer to bits and/or reformatting the hard disk (if necessary).Okay! I downloaded new drivers last night and no change.
Today I installed the ATi Tool and the temp was in the 70s so I checked the fan and it was not turning so I gave it a little help and it started spinning and the temp went down to 50/51. Which means I didn't clean the fan enough or it is faulty. Is there anything I can do to rectify that, can I change the fan?
Anyway I ran the scan for artifacts for about 12 minutes with no problems and the temp went up to 72/73; stopped the scan and temp fell to 50s. I was also running the GPU-Z program to confirm temp and both were showing same. I tried another scan for artifacts and the computer crashed as soon as I pressed the scan for artifacts button so now I cannot use the ATi programm to put the graphic card under stress. -
Hello. I have premiere elements 12, and have tried to open a new project, but nothing happened. All you see is a purple and black ribbon, then nothing. I can open the organizer without any problem at all!
What I have done so far:
Accepted all windows 7 updates - essential and non esential
I've updated my graphics drivers
I've also deleted and reloaded Premiere Elements from the disc
I reloaded quick time and accepted the latest version
All have no affect.
My system is a windows 7 64 bit PC.
I also have plenty of hard drive space
Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 works fine.
PS - This seems a common complaint about Premiere Elements 12

Look at the issue with and without the antivirus disabled. If that does not help....

and in the 12.0 Folder is the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file that you delete. If that does not work, then delete the whole 12.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists. Be sure to be working with Folder Options Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives active so that you can see the whole path cited.
b. Do the uninstall, reinstall with a ccleaner (regular cleaner and registry cleaner parts) in between the uninstall and reinstall with the antivirus and firewalls turned Off.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank. Be patient, the device will power ON again in the normal way. It is app and data safe!]
