Tried to sync new iPod and lost numerous purchased songs

The hard drive on my old 20GB iPod crashed and I finally replaced it today with a 30GB iPod video. I went to sync it with my computer, and I was making a new playlist, I noticed that some of the songs I had purchased back when I had my old iPod were gone. The majority of them are still around, but I lost probably 30-50 songs.
Anyone know why this happens or how to recover them? I am not particularly pleased with Apple right now (my first iPod lasted less than 18 months and the "Genius Bar" had no explanation for why the hard drive crashed and now this).

First, have you checked if there isnt some wierd authorization problem? Go to the Store tab in iTunes and reauthorize everything you use.
Also, something that has happened to me, is that for no particular reason several songs were dropped from my Purchased playlist. They were still in my music folder, they had just been deleted from the playlist.

iTunes will recognize your new phone as a different device from your old phone. Do you have any information on your new phone that you want to save? Restoring to the backup of your old phone will overwrite your data and settings with those of your old phone. If you want to save any data on your new phone, you'll need to do this first. After doing so, connect it to iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left side and select Restore from Backup, when prompted, selecte the backup of your old phone to restore from.

I am trying to sync my iPod, and while attempting it I am getting the error message "(whatever the song name is) cannot be downloaded because your computer is not authorized", but when I go to authorize my computer, it says it already is authorized. ???

Getting message 'ipod cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all the selected items' when trying to sync both ipod and iphone.

Recently downloaded new itunes when laptop upgraded from Vista to Windows 7. Tried disconnecting and resyncing but that does not work.
The bar across the bottom of my itunes is not full for either device & I don't have an unusually high amount of 'other' on either device. I am only trying to sync the same amount of music etc as I had before the new itunes, so it should fit onto the devices no problem. There are no duplicate songs in the new itunes.

I suspect the upgrade has confused the mechanism by which iTunes compares what is on the device already with what your sync options imply will be added. In each case backup the device and then immediately restore the device from its backup. I take it all media is in the library and you're not getting erase & sync messages. Otherwise, or if you sync any contact information, then take a look at Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device for some tips.

I had my ipod and my iphone attached to my old Mac book The Macbook doesn't work anymore, and I'm trying to sync them both to my current PC so that I can put new music on my ipod. All of my music was on my macbook and its currently on my ipod but the majority of it has been ripped from CDs or transfered from previous computers/ipods/MP3 players so not all of it shows up when I sign into my iTunes. Is there any way I can attach my Ipod/phone and not loose all my music/upload all my music to my PC?

You need to copy everything from your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Laptop shuts off when trying to Sync new Ipod
