Tried to update Ipod touch but it froze

I just tried to install the update on my Ipod Touch but it froze with the apple on the screen with a little loading bar on the bottom that was blank. How do I fix this??

Put the iPod into DFU mode and restore it. It seems as though the iPod is experiencing an issue with the software that is preventing it from booting up properly. Putting the iPod into DFU mode allows both the software and firmware to be replaced as well as removing the content which differs from a regular restore or update in iTunes where the software is removed but the firmware is only modified.
To put your iPod Touch into DFU mode:
1. Make sure the iPod is connected to a computer with iTunes on it.
2. Hold the sleep/wake button and the home button at the same time for 8 seconds.
3. Let go of the sleep/wake button and continue holding the home button.
4. If successful, the iPod display will remain black and iTunes will show a dialog box that it has detected an iPod in recovery mode.
5. Click OK, then click Restore.
After that the iPod should be up and running and you can sync your data back.
I hope this helps!

I am trying to update ipod touch from ios 4.3.2 to ios 6.1.3.  I have it connected to my computer, and the summary in itunes indicates the update is available.  However, when I click "update", it opens Windows Explorer and waits for a file name to open.

I am not at that computer now, but I did check via windows update & with the check updates menu choice in the itunes program  - neither indicated a newer version of itunes is available. (it is a vista computer).
The itunes software on the computer displays my ipod & the current ios (4.3.2), and indicates a newer ios is available (6.1.3). When I choose "update", I am taken to Windows Exploer and prompted to choose a file to open. it is as if the "update" button has the incorrect code attached to it.
The ipod is working, but there are several app I would like to install, but I can't with the current ooperating system.

I forgot my passcode and tried restoring my ipod touch, but it's not working. What should I do?

Did you place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
    iOS: How to back up
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload iTunes purchases by:

  • Tried to update ipod touch software now stuck in recovery loop any ideas?

tried to update software on brand new ipod touch but now stuck in recovery mode (displaying usb plug into itunes logo) any ideas?

    Maybe:
Restore loop (being prompted to restore again after a restore successfully completes)
Troubleshoot your USB connection. If the issue persists, out-of-date or incorrectly configured third-party security software may be causing this issue. Please follow Troubleshooting security software issues. .
Next try placing in DFU mode and then restoring.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try another cable
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Tried to update ipod Touch 4th Generation, Update Failed, iPod won't work

So less than twenty minutes ago I tried to update my iPod touch, knowing it had been asking this for a few days. The update failed, as as of now my iPod Touch is stuck on the picture of the iPod cable with an arrow pointing at the iTunes symbol. I've tried holding the two buttons to force it to shut off, it does- when I turn it on I get the apple logo so I know it turned on, only to get it again. When plugged into my computer, it is not recognized by anything. Going to Computer it doesn't see it as plugged in, and on iTunes nothing comes up with connected objects. This happened to me once in the past and I had to go to the Apple Store to have it fixed... can anyone tell me what to do so I don't have to go to them, or am I gonna have to take some time and drive over to have them take a look at it? Also, when removing my iPod from the computer, i get the sound that you get when you remove something from your computer, meaning it knows it's plugged in, just not reading it for some reason.
Thank you very much to anyone that can help!
If this is posted in the wrong area, this is my first loggin- sorry if I screwed up, mind telling me if I did?

iPod Touch 4G 32GB. I had same problem when I tried updating iOS; iTunes says restoring iPod, but after a while gives error 1603. I tried all suggestions from support: recovery mode, other USB ports, disconnect all other devices, uninstall and reinstall apple s/w and drivers, disable all other services using msconfig, confirm USB are 2.0, re-download updated software, reboot computer, name it! I finally installed iTunes on old Dell Inspiron P4 running XP, plugged iPod in it and device got recovered immediately! Put it back in Win7 computer and performed backup restore. Everything is back as it was. I have no idea what prevents s/w update on main computer. I realized I never get "waiting for iPod" message during attempt to restore, while I do on old Dell. I wonder what triggers this message.

  • Trying to update ipod touch 4G

Everytime i try to update my Ipod Touch 4G from ios 4.1.2 to ios 6.1.2 it keeps coming up with error 9006. I tried everything on the help page and tried a different computer but it keeps coming up with the same error.
So i wanted to update it using a IPSW file, i downloaded the file but when i try to install it it comes up with a message saying it cannot update because it is not compatible with my ipod. What should i do?

    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.

  • Trying to update iPod touch - stuck in backup mode

I have a 2nd gen iPod touch and am trying to update the software, which iTunes is kind enough to remind me to do everytime I connect the iPod to my computer.  I have synched and backed up recently, or so I thought, before being able to download and install the update.  Now when I am trying to do the update it has synched again, but is stuck in backup mode without any signs of progress for the past hour.  It said it would take an hour or more to complete the update, but maybe they should reword it to say it'll take a day or more.
The last time I tried to do the update and couldn't I finally downloaded an update to iTunes, hoping that would help but no such luck.  What am I doing wrong?

Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 1000, 9006
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.
    Error 20, 21, 23, 26, 28, 29, 34, 36, 37, 40
These errors typically occur when security software interferes with the restore and update process. FollowTroubleshooting security software issues to resolve this issue. In rare cases, these errors may be a hardware issue. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.
The "device may need service" means a hardware problem. In that case make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.
