Do i lose all of the data on that ipad now?

Recovery Mode (Data will be Lost if you do not have backup before the upgrade)
1. Turn off iPad. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, slide to turn off.
2. Connect USB cable to computer; leave the other end alone
3. Press and hold the Home button down and connect the docking end of cable to iPad
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
5. Release the Home button
6. Open iTune (make sure you have the newest version of iTune)
7. You should see "iTunes has detected an iPad in recovery mode"
8. Use iTune to restore iPad
Note: You need to be patient and repeat the above many times to recover your iPad

If you didn't back it up, your data is gone. There is no "solution" after the fact.

The error means that your antivirus or firewall is blocking the update process.

Tried updating my iPad mini to iOS 8, it went into recovery mode and when I try to update then restore it on iTunes it says the download will last 300 HOURS and then it says something like "Connection failed"?

I tried uppdating my ipad then it went into recovery mode. I thought "oh no problem, my phone has done this before". So, I hooked it up to iTunes and started to restore/update it, but when the update began, it said it would take 24 hours to download. Already abnormal. Then, the number kept rising higher and higher until it got to 300 HOURS. Then, once it reaches a certain 300, it says "connection failed. please check to see that you have a working connection or try again later" or something like that. So, my iPad is now stuck in recovery mode and I can't exactly talk to people now. What do I do?

Sorry to hear about your issue. I would start your troubleshooting with the article below to check to settings of your computer to make sure your connection is good to the iTunes Store.

My ipad mini was due for update and after it was downloaded on my Mac, it sent the ipad mini into restore mode. I cannot get it out of restore mode. Even tried the turn it off, then hold down home button while plugging it in thing over and over. Nothing. Someone help please.

Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

Take your time... Pay particular attention to Steps 3 and 4.
After you have Recovered your Device...
Re-Sync your Content or Restore from the most recent Backup...

I tried updating my iPhone 4S to IOS 6.0.1 and it is now stuck in recovery mode.

I updated my iTunes to IOS 6.0.1 tonight and then connected my iPhone to the computer and began to back up and update it. It froze and now I am getting the "connect device to iTunes" image on my phone. When I connect it I get a notification on my computer saying the phone is in recovery mode and as soon as I agree to set it up I get an error. I do not have my phone connected to the computer currently and it keeps turning off, I turn it on and see the connect phone image and seconds later it is back to off. Any advice?

IOS 5 failed to install and iPhone 4 now stuck in recovery mode

I went to update my iPhone 4 to iOS 5 last night against my better judgment. It backed up etc. fine but when it went to install iOS 5 I got a pop up message from Windows (I'm on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit) saying that the drivers for Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode) couldn't be found. I clicked the option to locate and install them automatically, that didn't work. I did it manually and selected the drivers but that didn't work either. Any tips? At the moment basically my phone is stuck on the screen with the iTunes logo and then the USB cable underneath it with an arrow pointing up, no words on the screen other than iTunes.

FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
1. Turn off iPad
2. Turn on computer and launch iTunes (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port.
DO NOT RELEASE BUTTON until you see picture of iTunes and plug
5. Release Home button.
ON COMPUTER
6. iTunes has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTunes.
7. Select "Restore iPad"...
Note:
1. Data will be lost if you do not have backup
2. You must follow step 1 to step 4 VERY CLOSELY.

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

Quit the mail app and reset your iPad like this:
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

if your computer is not recognizing it, try using a different USB port or different usb cable. if that doesnt work you will need to uninstall and reinstall itunes.
