Tried to update my iphone 4. Now im stuck in connect to itunes logo screen. Why is this happening?

i tried to update my iphone 4. Its now stuck on connect to itunes logo screen. itunes on my computer will not even detect my phone. Why is this happening and will it restore on its own? if not how can i restore it myself?
