Tried updating my iphone 5s only to get error message now my phone is frozen
my phone is now locked showing that it is connected to itunes after i had tried to update it i got an error message saying it had faled , how do i restore it to get it working again ?

Reset the iPhone.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If you can unlock your iPhone now, tap Settings > General > About then scroll to: Version
If it still says the 7.1.1, then the update was not applied.

If your phone was EVER hacked to unlock it, when you updated the hack was removed and it's now re-locked to its original carrier and will work only with a SIM card from that carrier..

Every time i connect it to itunes all it says is "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate." Even thought there is a sim card connected in my phone.Is the SIM from a supported carrier?
Is the device carrier locked, officially unlocked, or hacked to be unlocked?
Has the SIM been reseated? If not, try that.
Also, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore. Has any of that been tried? -

Your phone was illegally hacked to unlock it and when you updated the phone it relocked it back to the original carrier. This made the sim you had in the phone useless and therefore it cannot activate the phone. Nothing can be done in these forums to help you fix your problem as it is against the TOS to discuss illegal unlocking or jailbreaking the phone.

- What was the error message?
- Try closing iTunes and then disconnect the iPod from the computer. Then reconnect the iPod. If the iPod shows in iTunes then you can try again. However, You should try to resolve the error message first.
- If iTunes does not see the iPod try reetting the iPod:
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- I recommend that you come back with the what the error message said and the condition of the iPod and if it is visible in iTunes.
