Tried veriface, now the laptop wants a password.
Hi.
I tried veriface on my G570, but found it annoying so I uninstalled it. Now when I turn on the laptop it asks for a password at the start up screen. This laptop was sent to Lenovo to be repaired a few months ago, where they reinstalled windows 7 and made me a generic default user account WITH NO PASSWORD.
1. Pressing esc or enter at the login screen does not work.
2. I cannot get into any of the safe modes as it still asks for this non existent password.
3. I've tried resetting to last known good configuration, doesn't work.
4. Trying to repair the windows installation asks for the password.
5. Tried setting up passwords in BIOS, doesn't work.

it's not a security question.
it was a password.
If you don't have a Windows password, Veriface asks you to type one in before it allows you to mess with the facial recognition.
it's just a plain box, and when you typed it, it showed asterisks.
how long ago was this? forgot already?
if you don't remember, you're going to have to use a password cracker (I don't know which one works), or restore the laptop to factory condition.
The good news is, if you have a desktop computer, you can remove the hard drive and plug in a sata cable and recover your files before you reformat to factory image.

The sim card ONLY holds the information needed to connect to your cell company, so yes, there still could be sensitive information on your phone. It should have have had Find My iPhone turned off and the phone's data and settings wiped before you sold it. You really do need to give the new owner your pass code if he is to use the phone. After he's gotten in the phone, ask him to turn off Find My iPhone and then go to Settings > Reset > Erase All Data and Settings and then he should set up the phone on his own Apple ID.

To transfer purchases from device to computer:
Connect device, syncing is not necessary.
Select File > Transfer purchases.
If you have never synced with this computer or the device is synced to another computer, you will NOT be able to sync with this computer without replacing the library. -
When I'm streaming videos from my Macbook Air to my AppleTV, my Macbook Air gets rather hot and the fan works hard and is loud trying to keep the laptop cool. Is this harmful to the laptop? Is this normal?
My MBA fans start running when I play video too - the CPU's video processor is working pretty hard to decode the video. The fans job is to provide better airflow. The time to worry is when you play video and the fans don't run.

No, I'm sorry. If you're seeing that Connect to iTunes screen that means the phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
If you can't borrow a friend's computer, you can go to the Apple Store and they will restore it for you. -
Please help. Just the last week or so (maybe since Apple released a new software update for my Airport, I keep getting kicked off the net and can't reconnect - it doesn't even show my wifi network in the list of available networks. I am considering resetting the airport as detailed in the manual. If I do this will it act as a new one and can I set it up as from the beginning. My Mac is running OSX 10.6.8 and if I try to use the airport setup assistant it tells me i can't use this version of the app with the version of my OS (because I have upgraded my OS ) I assume

Resetting the password you will need to do for each device... the utility cannot even see those old units.
So you will have to do it for each one.. think it through.. because as you change passwords the others will lose connection.. so start from the express which are wireless extending .. change those first.. and go back up the chain.. as each one changes it will drop off the network.. until you reach extreme and change that. Then you might need to reboot the whole network to get everything talking again. If something goes wrong.. just pluck that one out of the mix and plug in ethernet.. reset and redo the setup. That is my preferred method anyway.. do everything in isolation one by one. By ethernet and then nothing goes wrong.

You cannot partition a network disk. And apple provided no tools for it in the TC itself. You can pull the disk out and partition it but that voids your warranty. (although done with care who is to know).

Trying to do the Laptop to Laptop dual display!
I just got a MacbookPro 17inch, and I also have my old PowerBookG4 17inch, I'm trying to use my old (now crappy) G4 as a dual monitor. I just spent a good wad of cash on a some cords. For the MacbookPro I got a mini display port (male) to a .DVI (female), and for the G4 I got a DVI (male) to DVI (male). This successfully hooked up the two!!!
I went to my macbookpro and hit "detect displays", and nothing happens.
Ofcourse when I hook either up to a projector or a PC monitor, I can use them as displays, but I cant get these two mac laptops to work together!!!
Do I need to start my old G4 in target disk mode or something? I'm unaware of the solution...
Someone please help me gain new knowledge!!!

Yes. All solutions of this type run through the OS on the second computer. FireWire Target Disk mode just displays a floating FireWire logo on the other display and therefore can't be used for this purpose.

Repaired permissions, now my iMac wants a password to delete anything.
I just repaired permissions on my computer (general maintenance), and now when I try to delete something from my desktop it asks for a password. I never set one on my account in the first place. I also need one to delete off the server in Adobe Bridge. How do I fix this?

Startup Disc is full and now the laptop opens to a grey screen only.
I was downloading a large amount of photos onto my MacBook last night, I was aware I was running out of space but didn't realize I was that close. During the second download the process just stopped and I got messages that the startup disc was full. I had to Force Quit iPhoto as it was frozen. When I returned to iPhoto after working with other iPhoto libraries on an external HD I could not open the iPhoto on my MacBook - I got some message saying that I needed to check my permissions to (make changes?) something like that. Everytime the same message. I restarted my computer and now when it powers up and I log in it takes me to a grey screen and stops there. The only thing I can do is move the cursor. I left that up overnight just to see if it needed time and woke to the same grey screen.
I'm getting a bit panicked as all my documents for work and photos are on this laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get back into my files so I can remove photos to free up space on the startup disc?

That may free up enough space to access the HDD and delete data from the drive.
If that does not work, you will have to connect your MBP to another Mac to access the internal HDD.

Also do not forget to empty trash when you delete data. Only then is space allocated for new data.

I just got my Outlook Calendar onto the iCloud . . . previously it was synced often from the laptop onto the iPhone not as often on the iPad. Almost immediately I saw that the calendars on the pad and phone were working perfectly, so I downloaded the iCloud control panel, went through the steps, and now the laptop Outlook has emptied. I am afraid to sync as the calendar information on the phone and pad might disappear. What do I do?
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Did you not make sure your backup was current before updating?
If not, then you can transfer iTunes purchases from an advice: File>Devices>transfer Purchases

Please follow the steps, this will help you.
Step1: Transfer the balances from GL Account 7021120 this account to other account.
Step2: Change the status of the GL Account 7021120 from non open to open item Management (RFSEPA02 - Switch On Open Item Management by Changing Master Record: Also check for Line item display.
Step4: Bring back the balance to GL Account 7021120 which was initially transferred from this to other account.
If you want only line item, just change the statsus in master dat of the GL account.
