Trigger voltage for 7D and Rebel T4i

I'm curious if anyone knows what the 7D and Rebel T4i trigger voltage maximum are. I have a older Sunpack 422D with a dedicated Canon module, from a Canon A1, on it and was wondering if it can be used on either of these cameras. I would be using this in manual mode only.

I believe both 7D and T4i will tolerate up to 250V trigger voltage.
Some older Canon models were as low as 6V.
At some point it was changed. I'm just not sure with what models that occured, but am certain the 7D and T4i have the higher rating.
You don't have a problem, either way. It sounds as if the flash you've got is a fairly modern one. Some older Vivtars,Sunpaks, etc. had really high trigger voltages... some were upwards of 400V, but even most older flashes come in below the 250V that's now become somewhat of a standard for DSLRs. (Although I believe I've read that 24V or 36V, or something in that range, was now a rather universal minimum for all cameras that can use external flash.)
If in doubt, there are always devices to protect from excessive voltage, such as Wein Safe Sync.... Of wireless triggers.

Elements 10 and Rebel t4i raw files

I recently upgraded my camera to a Rebel t4i and knew I'd have to upgrade from my old PSE6. After I upgraded to the current PSE10, I found out that the raw file viewer doesn't work woth cr2 files from the t4i. Apparently, Elements 10 doesn't support Camera Raw 7.1, which is what I need to view those cr2 files Right now, I have to convert all my images to .dng in order to process them, which is a HUGE waste of my time and energy. Does anyone know when Adobe will get their stuff together and let the latest version of Elements (10) support Camera Raw 7.1? It just doesn't seem logical that the latest version of Elements doesn't support the latest camera raw files.

Probably will not be until photoshop elements 11.

Trigger Voltage for Older Strobes on new digital cameras

Can anyone tell me what the Highest SAFE trigger voltage is for a Canon SX50 HS point & shoot, My Sunpack 611
(4800 BCPS) has about 43vdc on the contacts when fully charged, will this fry anything ??

I'm afraid I have no idea what an SX50 can handle....
I know the older Canon SLRs and perhaps the early DSLRs were only rated for 6 volts. Current Canon DSLRs are rated to 250 volts, at least since the 40D time frame, I believe. Maybe earlier, but I don't know at what point Canon improved the SLR/DSLR line to handle higher voltage.
Point n shoots, though, I have no idea and don't know where to find out. You might try emailing Canon support directly. (This forum occasionally sees Canon reps and techs drop in, but is mostly Canon users and enthusiasts helping each other as best we can.)
There is a website that shows flash trigger voltages, but that's by no means a complete list or a rigorous testing of those on the list. It lists the Sunpak 611, but shows a later one tested to have 4 volt trigger voltage, while an older one was much higher at 190 volts. (I assume you have measured your own 611 with a VOM.)
So, I'm not really helping much. Inquire from Canon support about your camera's trigger voltage capabilities. If you are still worried about it, you could use something like a Wein SafeSync to protect the camera from excessive trigger voltage. Or use the flash off-camera with a radio trigger (but be warned that radio triggers often have a trigger voltage limit, too.... some I recently looked at are rated to 24 or 30 volts).

Where can I find a basic tutorial for the EOS rebel T4i?

I just recievecd my first DSLR and I'm looking for a video tutorial that will take me through the basics of how to use the camera. I feel like this is something that should have come with the camera, (Nikon includes 3 how-to discs) but it didn't and this website is not the most user friendly. Any suggestions?

You would need ACR 7.x which is available in CS6. Or as ertho said you can get the free DNG 7.3 converter and convert raw to a DNG.

LightRoom 4 supports ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 7. Once processed with Lightroom, if you still need, you could take the photo in JPG or TIFF format into Photoshop CS5 for further processing.
Another option is to use Canon Raw Codec that would've come with your camera's box to process the RAW images and then take them into Photoshop.

Photoshop Updates for RAW Camera Files from a Rebel T4i

I have a Canon Rebel T4i, and I'm trying to get the update for my photoshop cs5 to be able to open it, but nothing is helping. I'm stuck at the 6.7 plugin and can't update it any further. I tried installing 7.1 (which is what it needs to open the raw files) but it didn't let me, so I'm assuming I have to update it by sequence (6.8, 6.9, etc.) except I can't find the update for 6.8 anywhere. How can I update it to read these raw files?

ACR 7.1 and beyond is only compatible with CS6 and up. There never was a 6.8 or 6.9. Therefore you will need to find a way to upgrade or settle for the free DNG converter in the meantime. Refer to this for more details:

Built in flash for EOS Rebel T4i

Hello,
I have a EOS Rebel T4i and I keep getting an error message with the built-in flash: "Err 05 Built in flash could not be raised".
I turn the camera on and off but the built in flash still does not raise.
Is there somewhere I can look to fix this problem?

Usually this is an easy fix....
Canon cameras have a micro-switch located under one of the leaf springs in the camera's hot shoe. This "tells" the camera when a flash is mounted and the built-in flash shouldn't be popped up. It's not uncommon for this micro-switch to stick or for the leaf spring to not fully return and keep the switch from popping back up all the way.
This website http://www.conraderb.com/flashrepair/ shows several problems that can occur and how to fix them, including the small button of the micro-switch I mentioned above. It uses a different camera model, but all Canon DSLRs are similar. Scroll down to see more about the switch. Unless your hot shoe is loose, too, or the pin that actuates the micro-switch is missing completely, you should not need to disassemble anything. But the illustrations showing the disassembly can give you a good idea of what you are dealing with (note: the website shows using a piece of metal from a paperclip as replacement for the the pin in the micro-switch... I've also seen a thick plastic bristle from a hair brush used,
If it's the micro-switch causing the problem, usually a wooden toothpick or a small, precision screwdriver can be used to gently lift the leaf spring, and, if needed, lightly tap on the micro-switch to encourage it to pop all the back way up.
If this doesn't work, it's possible the latching mechanism got bent somehow. This is a lot less common and isn't discussed at that website, but I've seen it elsewhere on the Internet. Just do a search if you think that's the problem with your camera.
Now, to be honest, I just don't find much use for my cameras' built-in flashes. The best solution for this problem, IMO, is simply to get an auxiliary flash.Those work much better for many reasons: Auxiliary flashes are much more powerful, don't drain the camera's battery reducing the number of shots I can take with it, recycle much faster especially since I often use external battery packs with them, and are less prone to redeye and ugly shadows because the flash head is farther from the lens axis (and can be moved even farther away with a flash bracket and off-camera shoe cord). One of my four year old 7Ds has had the "stuck flash" syndrome since new, and I've never bothered fixing it, though I've taken about 100,000 images with that camera. That should give you an idea how little I use the built-in flash!

When will Raw be updated for Canon Rebel T4i

When will the Adobe Elements plugin for "RAW" be updated for the newest Rebel camera?

What version of Elements? To install the most recent update for Camera Raw in Elements (version 7.3 which has support for the T4i) requires Elements 11. Previous versions of Elements can not use Camera Raw 7.3. So, you'll either need to upgrade to 11 or download and use the free DNG Converter to convert the Canon CR2 files to DNG. Go to the Digital Negative page and look for the downloas of the DNG Converter for Mac and Windows.

Will USB-6008 DAQ be able to power and record voltage for UMS T5 tensiometer at the same time?

I would like to use my NI USB-6008 to provide power to my UMS T5 tensiometer (http://www.ums-muc.de/en/products/tensiometer/t5.html) as well as take readings from it, but I don't know if this is possible to do properly. The supply voltage for the instrument can be as low as 5V, which I can easily get from the dedicated +5V channel. I am able to power the instrument and connect it to an analog input on the 6008 and measure a voltage in differential mode. However, while reading the support literature for the instrument, I find the following:
"Potential data acquisition pitfalls: Because the pressure transducer is configured in a Wheatstone full bridge, the input voltage and signal mV output cannot be connected to the same reference (ground). Hence, the signal mV output can only be measured using a differential voltage measurement. Therefore, do not attempt to make a single-ended measurement of the pressure transducer mV output." My understanding is that the 6008 can take a differential measurement if I attach the signal "+" and signal "-" to the positive and negative analog input terminals. However, it seems that all of the Ground ports on the 6008 are grounded to the same reference, which would make my voltage measurement invalid according to the paragraph above. So my real questions is: if I attempt to record the voltage using one of the analog inputs on the 6008 in this way, is the measurement valid? Or do I need to find a separate power supply with a different reference ground to ensure that the measurement is accurate?

The specification sheet for that device is very poor. The manual is not much better. Companies which want to sell scientific equipment should publish decent data sheets or get out of business.
In section 3.4.3 General requirements the device is described as a "non-amplified bridge circuit." This information along with the bridge impedance should be in the specifications because it is essential to applying the device under any circumstances other than the nominal behavior at 10.6 V.
The answer to your question is this:
You can use it with the USB-6008. The 5 V power supply will result in output voltages slightly less than half (5/10.6) the voltages specified under nominal conditions. You can use the differential input mode on the USB-6008. The absolute input voltages will be about 2.5 V with the 5 V supply. That voltage is within the working range of the device. The differences will probably be less than 100 mV. The resolution of the USB-6008 on the +/-1 V range is about 0.5 mV so your pressure resolution will be around 1 % of full scale. The input impedance and termination voltage of the USB-6008 will introduce some errors. These may be on the order of 5-10%. I cannot predict much better without the missing bridge impedance specification. Those errors should be systematic and relatively constant. A calibration of the whole system - sensor and DAQ device together should allow you to compensate for much of that error.

Just connect it to a computer's USB port.
Most wall chargers are dual voltage (110- 220 volts) and only require a plug adopter. Check the wall charger to see if yours is.

Here are a few suggestions, but you definitely need to refer to the manual page that the previous poster suggested.

END DepartmentTrigger;
The "Or Replace" means you can replace the trigger while you're developing without having to type in a drop statement every time. Just change and rerun your script, over and over until you get it right.
Adding "Or Update" or "Or Delete" makes the trigger fire for those events too. Note, you may want seperate triggers in different scripts and with different names for each event. You have to decide if your design really does the same thing whether it's an insert or an update.
:new.Dept is how you would refer to the changed vale of the Dept column (:old.Dept is the prior value). I changed the double quotes on the string in the VALUES clause to single quotes.

Internal and external reference voltage for DAC

For example: If we are using +10V as the internal reference voltage, the range of the DAC would be -10 to +10V. But if the signal goes only from -5 to +5 V, the resolution of DAC is not getting maximized. To maximize the Resolution, an external refernce voltage of +5V can be given. Now the range of the DAQ will be -5V to +5V, same as that of the signal..
What is internal and external reference voltage for DAC ?????
