Triggering dfh or bfd from real drum recordings in logic

Is there a plugin which will convert audio drum takes to midi data ( with accurate velocity conversion) for use with samplers and dfh and bfd. Also will dfh run happily in logic 6.4.3 and logic 7.1.1 on a g4 dual 1 Ghz 1.5 Gb ram os 10.3.9.

Logic's "Audio to Score" does this quite well.
You'll need to adjust velocity settings to have it ignore mic bleed, and get the attack setting as low as possible to insure that the triggering is super tight.
You'll also need to move all the interpreted hits to the same MIDI note value (1 step process via the transformer).
Put that MIDI track on your BFD or DKH track, with the MIDI note assigned to where the snare/kick is...
I do this regularly with live drum tracks, and it works very well, although I usually use samples I have in my EXS library.

Your iPod cannot play a Real-format file, nor can iTunes, so you'll have to convert it. There are no tools for Mac I know of that can directly convert a Real track, so you'll need to capture the output of Real Player using a utility such as Audio Hijack or Wiretap. Either of those utilities can save the captured audio in a format that iTunes can import and transfer to your iPod.

We have been using Flash for the last couple of years to
develop small applications and presentations used for project
reporting. Most of our clients use us because our presentations run
so much better and faster than their own PowerPoint or Acrobat

If you have solid experience and involved in various complex projects and worked/ given solution on various scenarios, you can very well go to Professional.
Generally, the questions are little bit complex in nature in professional course. About 60% on practical experience and 40% theory.
If you are confident, you go ahead with professional.
One more suggestion, jut get the information from SAP regarding upgrading from Associate to Professional.
Suppose if you get certification for Associate how to upgrade to Professional.

Please look at this discussion forum for more information on using smtp with your cRIO. At this point, as I understand, you are connected using a router on the same subnet. As mikes81 has pointed out you do have to configure the IP settings accordingly.If you set MAX to obtain IP settiings automatically it should populate all the fields by itself. Hope this helps!

You could set policies which when a malware detected an action perform automatically without user interaction but there is no GPO which stop the notification, one reason could be that when notification keep appearing, then user will know something is wrong
otherwise why FEP should display any warning.

Is the drum library with Logic pretty deep? I'm looking to skip the whole process of recording drums.

For our last album, I recorded the drums and added samples on top of the real drums to get the exact sound I want. This time, I'd prefer to skip drums all together. I've yet to buy Logic Studio because I'm wanting the drums to sound real...not synthetic. Is the drum library pretty deep with Logic Studio?

Yes, there is EX2, a sampler and Ultrabeat - which is a drum machne on steriods but can play any sample. Ultimately for very realistic drums you will need something like BFD, Battery, Kontakt or Ez Drummer - all depends on what you are aiming for.
Logic also comes with drum loops, which are ok, but a bit limited - I between 3 and 10 variations on a theme some with fills some without. However you can always chop them up and turn the sliced loop into a EXS sampler patch (with one Menu or Key Command).
Over all very flexible - I suspect it would take a long time to exhaust the posibilities in Logic.

Going from stereo to surround in Logic?

I know that the manual discusses setting up for surround in Logic, but I'm just wondering how difficult/time-consuming/different people have found dealing with setting up sequences and mixing when going from stereo to surround in Logic?

Real easy, not a problem at all. You'll lose your pan placements but simply set up your outs correctly highlight all your tracks in the audio environment and convert them to "surround". One thing to watch out for is the centre channel. I would always recommend panning your L/R field stuff between L&R without using the C channel. Especially if the stuff you're panning is from a stereo source (phase nightmare). So to do this double click on the pan knob and select "5.1 without centre" in the output pane. Some sound guys really like you to keep the C channel clear for dialogue but for montages/ music-centric sequences but slinging a mono kick or bass into the centre speaker is never going to be a bad thing, imagine an entire woofer dedicated to the bit of your score that gets you laid?
Couple of other pointers:
• Using a big reverb? set up a duplicate verb for the Ls/Rs send only, set a slightly larger initial delay (10msecs would do you nice) and pan it hard to the surrounds, hey presto surround reverb.
• Don't ever use saxophones in surround.
• Don't stick too much dry/ live matter in the surrounds, people will fear you're taking people "out of the movie" and re-recording mixers don't like it either. So reverbs, delay returns and a snitch of this and that will be substantial. I love duping pads for the surrounds/ Take an Absynth pad and then adjust a small parameter to change the sound slightly. Get one to fight the other between fronts and rears, hey presto, surround!
• Watch the amounts you're sending the LFE, this stuff works better if you're selective. So if a sound isn't in need of sub assistance zero the LFE send (which - again - you get to on the surround pan pot). If you can limit your LFE send to a bit of kick and bass you will be looking at fattos tightus maximus.

P.S. When aligning your speakers remember that the surrounds are always attenuated slightly differently. Off the top of my head I think it's -4db, but don't quote me on this (yes I got someone else to do it in my studio, and it's way past time I did it again!). Can someone confirm this?

Using Yamaha DTX500 as drum controller in Logic - Please Help

A super-newbie question,
I'm using Logic 9 express, and I want to use my Yamaha DTX520k electric drum kit as a midi drum controller so that ideally, I could play it and record 8 separate drum tracks in Logic (one for each drum pad). This way I could play with each individual track later.
I've got a Roland midi to usb UM-One to link the drums into Logic, and I've set that up in Audio Midi Setup, so it is showing up in Logic when I create a new External Midi track.
By from there I am stumped. I play the drums but Logic is not picking it up, and I have no idea how to create a map to ensure that the bass drum track will make a bass drum sound in Logic.
If anyone has any simple ideas on how to accomplish the above, I would be eternally grateful.
I have never worked with midi before.

Some things to consider:
a) MIDI from your kit could be routed to an Instrument track in Logic with a drumkit loaded (EXS24/Ultrabeat etc). You may run into isses of note-mapping between the kit and the (generally GM standard) sound mapping in EXS/UB. Either change the transmitted notes in the kit, or you'll need to do a re-map in Logic.. see item c).
b) If you want to use the kit 'built-in' sounds, you'll need to connect up the audio outs to your audio interface. You may wish to record MIDI and re-send out to the 'brain' via an External MIDI track (but you will still need the audio connections in order to hear the kit in Logic). Make an audio track set to the correct inputs, and turn on Input Monitoring.
c) If you need to re-map MIDI notes (Kick=kick etc), it will be quicker and easier to change them at the kit side, rather than in Logic (consult it's manual), but it is possible using a Mapped Instrument Environment object.

how do i use parallel compression for 4 drum tracks in Logic pro 7.2.3 Please. my version is 7.2.3 and my son did his drums on 4 tracks. 2 OH's 1 Kick and 1 Snare. Were confused because we cant figure out how to do parallel compression on the older logic version 7.2.3?

I can't remember when the Aux tracks became the new buss tracks, so I'll spell this out using busses.
The way I do it, is I assign all my drum tracks to a buss, say buss 1.
Then, on buss 2, I assign it's INPUT to buss 1.
So buss 1 (all the drums) are feeding into buss 2 simultaneously.
Put a compressor on buss 2, turn the fader down all the way, then as the track is playing, bring buss 2's fader up slowly, until you hear the effect you're after.
You could also do this using sends on the 4 drum tracks, set to feed the buss with the compressor on it.
I hope I haven't forgotten anything particular to that version of Logic. See if this helps...

In my personal opinion, buying Apple products in a country where Apple has no stores and no corporate presence is a risk that the buyer takes knowingly. I don't think it's a wise risk, and I don't recommend that anyone take it. A small percentage of the products sold anywhere are going to have problems, and it makes more sense to buy an inferior product that can at least be serviced locally than to buy a superior product that may have to be sent thousands of miles for repair if anything ever goes wrong with it.

Is there a step sequencer for drum patterns in logic express?

I was wondering is there a step sequencer for doing drum beats in logic express? It would be much easier if there were, that way I wouldn't have to record it and then try and fix my beat in the matrix editor. I believe that there is a step sequencer included with ultrabeat but I know that that is only with logic pro.

That link will only work if you're a subscriber, until SOS declassifies it for everyone in six months.
The GM method will work for something that's GM compatible, and you can use this method to create your own custom version for any other drum instrument you want. It's pretty sweet. The gist of it is you create a mapped instrument in the environment, cable it to your audio instrument of interest, rename the notes to whatever drum/percussion sound they match (if needed), create a MIDI region with one note each, then make a hyper set out of it.
It seems like a lot of steps, but it's pretty simple once you've done it once, and you end up with a very flexible step sequencer-like editor. You can repeat these steps to make editors that are customized for any instrument plugin you like.
