Triggering process chain in background

Hi All,
Could you please tell me how to trigger a process chain using background job ?
Thanks,.

Write a program to achive this based on your condition raise the event using function module.
BP_EVENT_RAISE
In the the process chain in the start process in scheduling options-----> use AFTER EVENT.
To create a event you can in SM62.
Hope this helps.

How to find process chain using background job in sm37

Better is to select the job.
Select (Define) Step (s) or F6.
Select the line and Menu Goto>Variant.
The variant contains the name of the CHAIN and its VARIANT.
    Success
We faced an old job and via job monitoring we were informed about a cancelled job every 'interval'.
We noticed that the related chain was deleted but still the job was scheduled each interval again and was cancelled because an event was missing
We could not find the scheduled job via SM37.
Via view V_OP, view over tbtco abd tbtcp, we find the related entry.
We delete these entries via function BP_JOB_DELETE....

  • Scheduling of process chain with background job

    Hello All,
I have scheduled the process chains through background jobs. I have copied the meta chain and created seven background jobs that is from Monday till sunday. The problem is most frequently the job gets cancelled with the message
Process CHAIN, variant PAA1_GS001 is not scheduled waiting for event RSPROCESS 44NRPDWZ7CQUJ92ATDTY6368H.
This is the variant for the next process after the start process. I tried by giving merge active versions, but one day the background job runs fine , but the next day it gets cancelled.
If anyone has faced this issue before kindly let me know.
    Regards,
    Karthik.

    Hi,
It seems to be there may be in probelm in Varients, so create a separate Varient for each PC and then activate the PC and execute.
    Thanks

  • Diff in triggering Process chain by FM & Events

    Hi Experts,
I would like to understand the difference in
1  Triggering the process chian by Functiton Module RSPC_CHAIN_START
    2. Triggering the process chain by raising the event RSSM_EVENT_RAISE.
    Regards
    Suresh Kumar

    Hi,
The difference when using either to start a process chain by event is minimal. RSPC_CHAIN_START can be used to kick off any process chain (whether event driven or not) whereas RSSM_EVENT_RAISE is used to generate an event which can be used for more than just process chains (background jobs can also be launched using events for example). So they do overlap in functionality when it comes to launching event driven PCs but also have their own unique functionality as well.
    Hope this helps,
    Regards,
    Gareth

  • How to stop a triggered process chain

    Hi,
Does anyone know how to stop a process chain? It was accidentally triggered twice and we need to stop it. Thanks.

    Hi,
There r 2 ways to kill the job.
One is using transation RSMO locate the job and display the status tab double click on the yellow light that is shown on the line total, a pop will come 'set overall status ' is displayed select the desired status that is red and save it. Then return to the monitor page and select the header tab double ckick on the data target right click and then goto 'manage',there should be request sitting there probably with yellow lights , highlight the line with the faulty request click the  delete button then click refresh button.
Second is goto SM37 and click on the active selection and enter the jobname and then click excute the particulr job should appear highlight the jobname then click on the stop iconthat appears on the taskbar( 3 rd from left)
    hope it is clear.

  • Event Triggered process chain

    Hi Experts,
We have a meta chain which contains two local chain in sequance and consuming 10 hours to complete
    Process Chain 1
    Process Chain 2
We have used the events to trigger process chain 2 only when it meet certain condition and modified the meta chain as
    Process Chain 1
Abap Prg to trigger Process chain 2
But now the meta chain just consume 4 hours to complete even though process chain 2 is on progres.
This is giving wrong update to the users as the load is completed.
Is it possible to retain the status of the meta chain as in progress untill the process chain 2 triggered by event gets complets.
    Regards
    Suresh Kumar

    Hi Suresh,
when you are using event as a process in the metachain, it checks if the event ran succesfullly or not.
once the event is succesfull(event -  triggering of the process chain but not completion), the step turns green.
    so follow below procedure.
1)in the abap program, instead of triggering the process chain, write a program which raises an exceptio if the condition you required is satisfied so that the step becomes red.
use the proicess chain as next step in the process chain and conect this program to processchain step with th condition failure.
    Hope this helps,
    Srinath.

  • Problem with triggering process chain

    Hi
We have a remote process chain that calls a process chain in another system. The process chain in the other system is not getting triggered with the remote chain.
We have 3 such remote chains and we are facing such a problem with only one of them.
The process chain in the other system has a start variant which gets triggered( i suppose) and gives an instance id...the next step in the process chain is to load data into a ODS.Now this step remains yellow forever. When i manually try to schedule this step it gives me records and the request in the monitor screen turns green. But the process chain step continues to remain yellow.
What can be a way out for triggering the process chain or where could the problem be?
    Please help
    Thanks,
    Suchi

    Hi Suchitra,
Even though ur process seems to be in yellow your data loading may be completed and the  reason for it may be the delay in activation of ODs by ur PC.
For your information please go through the below infm provided in SAp Library
Note when loading into an ODS object and for the subsequent, event-controlled update:
If you switched on the automatic activation in the ODS maintenance or administration, the monitor status for the request remains yellow after the load was successfully completed. Nevertheless, the subsequent processing for the InfoPackage is started, because the loading process is successfully completed.

  • Error in Mass process chain DP background job for Deinitialize version

    Hi,
When I execute the process chain for DP background job to delete the planning area version, it gives error message
"Process DP Background Processing, variant DELETE XXXXXXX has status Ended with errors (instance D973YTQRSF0FRPV5TCR28L"
It is working well, when I tried the same manually with the same input parameters used in background job variant.
What could be the cause for the background job problem.
    Thanks and regards

  • Triggering Process chain based on execution of R3 job and Process Chain

    Hi All,
I need your help in arriving at a solution for a reqirement.
Scenario is., I need to trigger a process chain B based on successful execution of Process chain A and an R3 job. If both conditions(Completion of R3 job and Process Chain A) are met then only it has to trigger process Chain B.
I know that we can use events to trigger a process chain using R3 job.But my case is differenet I need to consider the success message from both process chain and R3 job.Is there any way to solve it ?
Please provide me with your valuable inputs.
    Thanks,
    Bindu

    Hi Hima,
You can use the  'AND' variant for both, If both are success then trigger the process chain.

  • Triggering Process chains through abap code

    Hi Experts,
Can you please let me know if it is possible to trigger a BW Process chain using an abap code.
If yes , kindly let me know the sample code.

    Hi Thanks for your reply.
When I am trying to execute process chain with variant as a APD ( In this APD data is getting loaded form one Query to Transactional ODS.) This process chain being executing through one ABAP program using the following code
    CALL FUNCTION 'RSPC_API_CHAIN_SCHEDULE'
    EXPORTING
I_CHAIN = 'XYZ'. ( Dummy Process chain name)
While executing this program I am getting following message :
You can specify the name of the application server here
on which all jobs in the chain are scheduled
If you do not specify a name, the jobs from batch
management are divided between the available servers
    How to avoid this message.
Can we write any code in the above program to assign any fixed server name so that it will not ask for any server name.

  • Process Chain Triggers Multiple times

    Hi All,
I have Meta process chain say ZAAA  which has multiple Local Chains example ZBBB , ZCCC and ZDDD. .This Local chain ZCCC trigger multiple times of  in one day . we had a issues today  with deactivation of Transformations and DTP in different levels because of that Local Process chain ZCCC is failed along with other process chains . when I reach to ZCCC started by repeat or repair ,before Local Chain ZCCC finished whole process ,ZCCC triggers second time .
Now first times  triggered process chain ZCCC is in  yellow , and second time triggered process chain ZCCC gone through all the way to gree ,  and Meta chain showes red.
what I have do make Meta chain green.
    Regards
    Hari

    Hi Hari,
I wonder what you mean by below statement:
one of the sub pc still yellow first time trigger and went to red and second time trigger whole process is green. all Sub PC are green
For the sub pc mentioned above, you trigger it all over again? Or you repeat/repair the step failed?
If you trigger it the second times all over again it is a new run and the first run remain fail,ed so the meta chain will never get green, if you want to make the meta chain green, you need to repeat/repair the step failed in first run.
    Regards
    Bill

  • Assign a server group as the background server for a process chain

    Dear Experts,
Can I assign a server group as the background server for a process chain?
Even I assign a server group as the background server for a process chain by following T-cd: RSPC > W click a process chain > (Menu) Process Chain > Attributes > Background server and save & activate the process chain, no entry was saved in the column in RSPCCHAINATTR-SERVER with OBJVERS = "A".
Moreover, it seems that there is no process type for a process chain as a whole in T-cd: RSBATCH, so I assume that I may not be able to assign a server group to a process chain as a whole...
I know I can assign a server group as the background server for each process in a process chain.
    Many thanks for your suggestions.
    Best Regards,
    Norifumi

On many UNIX systems there's a utility called detach which will launch the following command in such a manner that killing the shell will not kill the process. On systems that lack this command, I'd find an open source implementation and install it.

  • Authorizations setting for running the process chain

    Hai
Iam planning to run the process chain for loading the data into ODS. But i dont have authorization for it.
so what are the authorizations i need to run the process chain in my system. And how can i set all those authorizations to my user-id.  I have all authorization rights .
    Pls let me knw
    kumar

    Hi,
    Authorizations for Process Chains
    Use
You use authorization checks in process chain maintenance to lock the process chain, and the processes of the chain, against actions by unauthorized users.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to perform specific activities.
    ·        You control whether a user is allowed to schedule the processes in a chain.
The authorization check for the processes in a chain runs when the system performs the check. This takes place upon scheduling or during synchronous execution. The check is performed in display mode. The check is performed for each user that schedules the chain; it is not performed for the user who executes the chain. The user who executes the chain is usually the BI background user. The BI background user automatically has the required authorizations for executing all BI process types. In attribute maintenance for the process chain, you can determine the user who is to execute the process chain.
See also: Display/Maintenance of Process Chain Attributes ®  Execution User.
    Features
For the administration processes that are bundled in a process chain, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_ADMWB.
To work with process chains, you require authorization for authorization object S_RS_PC. You use this authorization object to determine whether process chains can be displayed, changed or executed, and whether logs can be deleted. You can use the name of the process chain as the basis for the restriction, or restrict authorizations to chains using the application components to which they are assigned.
    Display/Maintain Process Chain Attributes
    Use
You can display technical attributes, display or create documentation for a process chain, and determine the response of process chains during execution.
    Features
You can display or maintain the following attributes for a process chain:
    Process Chain ® Attribute ® ...
    Information
    Description
    ( Rename)
You can change the name of the process chain.
    Display Components
Display components are the evaluation criterion in the process chain maintenance. Assigning the process chains to display components makes it easier to access the chain you want.
To create a new display component, choose Assign Display Components in the input help window and assign a technical name and description for the display component in the Display Grouping dialog box that appears.
    Documents
You can create and display documents for a process chain.
    For more information, see Documents.
    Last Changed By
Displays the technical attributes of the process chain:
    ·        When it was last changed and who by
    ·        When it was last activated and who by
    ·        Object directory entry
    Evaluation of Process Status
If you set this indicator, all the incorrect processes in this chain and in the overall status of the run are evaluated as successful; if you have scheduled a successor process upon error or always.
The indicator is relevant when using metachains: Errors in the processes of the subchains can be evaluated as “unimportant” for the metachain run. The subchain is evaluated as successful, despite errors in such processes of the subchain. If, in the metachain, the successor of the subchain is scheduled upon success, the metachain run continues despite errors in “unimportant” processes of the subchain.
Mailing and alerting are not affected by this indicator and are still triggered for incorrect processes if they have an upon error successor.
    Polling Indicator
With this indicator you can control the response of the main process for distributed processes. Distributed processes, such as the load process, are characterized as having different work processes involved in specific tasks.
With the polling indicator you determine whether the main process needs to be kept until the actual process has ended.
    By selecting the indicator:
    -         A high level of process security is guaranteed, and
    -         External scheduling tools can be provided with the status of the distributed processes.
However, the system uses more resources; and a background process is required.
    Monitoring
With the indicator in the dialog box Remove Chain from Automatic Monitoring?, you can specify that a process chain be removed from the automatic monitoring using CCMS.
By default CCMS switches on the automatic process chain monitoring.
For more information about the CCMS context Process Chains, see the section BW Monitor in CCMS.
    Alerting
You can send alerts using alert management when errors occur in a process chain.
For more information, see Send Alerts for Process Chains.
    Background Server
You can specify here on which server or server group all of the jobs of a chain are scheduled. If you do not make an entry, the background management distributes the jobs between the available servers.
    Processing Client
If you use process chains in a client-dependent application, you can determine here in which client the chain is to be used. You can only display, edit, schedule or execute the chain in this client.
If you do not maintain this attribute, you can display, edit, schedule or execute the process chain in all clients.
Process variants of type General Services that are contained in a process chain with this attribute set will only be displayed in the specified client.
This attribute is transported. You can change it by specifying an import client during import. You must create a destination to the client set here in the target system for the import post processing (transaction RSTPRFC)  The chain is activated after import and scheduled, if necessary, in this client.
    Execution User
In the standard setting a BI background user executes the process chain (BWREMOTE).
You can change the default setting so that you can see the user that executes the process chain and therefore the processes, in the Job Overview. You can select the current dialog user who schedules the process chain job, or specify a different user.
    The setting is transported.
The BI background user has all the necessary authorizations to execute all BI process types. Other users must assign themselves these authorizations so that authorization errors do not occur during processing.
    Job Priority
You use this attribute to set the job priority for all of the jobs in a process chain.
