Trimming ringtone

i own n73me i'm not able to trim ringtone. ev-er-y-time i tried to save after trimming, the msg displayed is"trim length is too short or not yet defined. please define it now"

Uncheck the menu item View > Show Clip Volume Levels. Now direct trimming should work.
iMovie doesn't let us edit both the volume level and the clip length at the same time.

  • Creating a ringtone with iTunes (after song selection) is difficult!

    Hey-
I'm having an issue with creating ringtones using the built in ringtone maker in iTunes after purchasing a eligable track from the iTunes store. There are some ringtones that I found on the iTunes store. There is one purchase where you get 6 seperate ringers (but in one audio file). I place the slider bars at the beginning of the ringer I want and then at the end of that ringer. When I go to play it back to make sure I'm getting what I want, it's not playing the correct ringer that it should be playing, but rather either the first ringer, or the 4th ringer...very odd! I know how to 'trim' clips as I do this daily with Windows Movie Maker...left slider starts at where you want the tune to start, the right slider stops at where you want the tune to end...very simple! Yet with the ringtone maker built into iTunes, it doesn't seem to work that way at all.
The tune that I am referring to is called "6 (or six) business ringtones" in iTunes (just do a search it will pop up)! It is one audio file, with 6 different ringtones in the file, the total file length is like 30 seconds (give or take). Well I like the 2nd ringtone. So after I bought the file, I then went into the ringtone maker in iTunes and dragged the slidders where the 2nd ringtone starts and ends, I then play it back but it doesn't play what I trimmed. Instead it plays other parts of the file (as in the 5th and 6th ringers or the 1st ringers or it starts playing the end of the 1st ringer and combines it into the 2nd ringer that I want. It doesn't seem to do what it's suppose to do and it's really starting to tick me off! I have all these charges from the iTunes store where I have been repeating trying to make the file because it's not working correctly and I'm getting all these charges on my credit card. All I want is for the ringtone maker to work correctly and make my tone as I'm telling it to do, but it won't. Does anyone know how to make this darn thing work correctly? If it wasn't for the file being DRM'd, I would drag it into my own program and do it myself with something I know works correctly. This clearly does not work correctly.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • How can I create an iPhone3g ringtone from a recorded MP3

I've recorded my daughters voice as an mp3 file (about 10 seconds long) and want to use it as a ringtone on my iPhone3G but cannot figure out how I do this. I'm using iTunes8 and all the instructions I've found on creating ringtones will not work as menu options simply aren't there and no amount of messing around with the file will allow me to drop it into the ringtones folder on my library. This is infuriating as is the apple support site 8-(

The easiest way I found was by using http://audiko.net/en.html. You just upload any MP3, trim it by dragging the handles to what you want and then download it to your PC. Then, you can just drag it to the Ringtones section in iTunes.

  • How to create ringtone from my music?

I've been able to download some of my short music clips and use the clips as ringtones.  However, for the longer pieces of music, I want to use just 30 second of it.  I've already imported the audio file into my BB's micro SD card.
The BB Media Manager Help Center provides the following instructions (below), but when I try to right-click on the file, I don't get the "Edit with Quick Sound Editor" function at all.  I've tried everything to get this function with no avail.  Please help!
You can create ringtones from existing audio clips—such as your favorite song—with the Quick Sound Editor.
    To create a ringtone:
In Media Manager, browse to the audio file from which you want to create a ring tone.
Right-click the audio file and choose Edit with Quick Sound Editor.
If necessary, display the Trim & Fade view by clicking Trim Fade.
Move the play head to the beginning of the section you want to use as your ringtone, either by clicking Preview or by clicking the waveform.
    Click Set Start.
Move the play head to the end of the section you want to use as your ringtone.
    Click Set End.
    Click Create Ringtone.
Specify a file name and location for the new file, and click Save.
To exit from Quick Sound Editor, click Close.
The ringtone is added to the All Music > Ringtone Smart View.

  • Garage Band ringtones

When I upgraded to 10.4.11, I noticed there was also an upgrade for GarageBand. How do I create a ringtone?
Is there a Manual out with instructions?
Thanks for the help, in advance.

You need to have the latest version of GB from iLife 08. From there you just import the audio, trim it down to 30sec and export it as a ringtone.
Keep in mind it is only to be used for non DRM, non copyrighted or royalty free content.

  • Creating custom ringtones without GarageBand . . . is it possible?

Is it possible to create a custom (original content) ringtone in a pro app such as Final Cut Pro or Soundtrack pro? I removed the consumer apps - Garage Band, iDVD, iMovie - from my system since they never get used. I can always reinstall if necessary, but I would like to avoid that if possible. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well here are the instructions for a Windows user. In general, if you have a non DRMed audio file and any software that can edit it down you can do it manually (get it into iTunes as a ringtone). Somebody else posted instructions of how to use iTunes itself to create a edited down file as well (non DRMed file of course). Had to do with editing info about the song (start and end times) then resaving it.
    For Windows Users:
Locate the audio you want. It is best if it is in MP3 or WAV as there are far more editors out there for that.
Once you have your file and editor, you will need to edit it down to 30secs or less (just trim it to a section you want as your ringtone).
    Save that file as MP3.
    Next, open iTunes
Drag that MP3 into iTunes Music List.
Locate that file in the list.
Right click on it and choose Convert to AAC (Apples format)
This will only take a second as it is a short clip.
You should now have that clip listed twice in your list (first one MP3, second one AAC format)
Highlight the first one (may still be hightlighted from your last right click)
Right click it and Delete it (don't need it anymore). You can say don't send to recycle bin if you want to keep it on your PC.
Next right click the other copy (the AAC one) and choose Show in Windows Explorer (or something like that).
That will open your file browse window to the file.
Ok, leave that window open but go back to iTunes
In iTunes right click and delete that clip from the music library (but be sure to say Don't Send to Recycle Bin)
Next go back to the file browse window and locate that clip. Will be named YOURNAME.M4A (note be sure you are showing file extensions).
    Cut the File.
Go up One directory (right now you are in a folder named Unknown Artists)
Once you go up one you should see a subfolder named Ringtones. If not, create one.
    Go into the Ringtones folder.
    Paste your file.
Now Rename your file from .M4A to .M4R
Now drag that file over to iTunes and drag it to the tree on the left and drop it on the branch that says Ringtones.
It should now be in your Ringtones list and can now sync to your phone.
Note, you have to have iTunes 7.5 and your iPhone needs to be running firmware 1.1.2
The parts about removing from your music list first before dragging into Ringtones section are important.

  • Can't sync a new ringtone to phone

I'm trying to add a new ringtone to my iphone 4s with ios 7 installed. I purchased a song from itunes, converted it to an m4r file after having trimmed the song to appropriate lenght. It now shows up as a ringtone in the library's tones, all by itself. I cannot figure out how to get it onto my phone  along with the other (3) ringtones I created some time ago. Those show up grayed out under my phone's tones when plugged into my computer. Syncing back and forth isn't working. Why is this so difficult?

In your contacts list, tap on a contact. Tap Edit and in the Ringtone option, select the ringtone that you want to be applied.

  • ONE ringtone will not sync!

OK - I have made a bunch of custom ringtones using Logic. All but one of them with synchronize fine. I followed the same sequence of steps, so I can't figure out why this one isn't working.
They all show up in the Ringtones entry for iTunes, but this one doesn't show up in the Ringtones tab in the iPhone settings. I can't figure out why this isn't being recognized a ringtone here when all the others are AND when it shows up under Ringtones in another part of the program.
    Any ideas?

NICE! that did the trick - note to others: itunes is VERY particular about the length - it was 40.006 seconds long - I trimmed it down to somewhere around 39.78 (which rounds up to 40 in the display - you can see the exact length if you go to Get Info, then Options and look at the end time) and that did the trick - thanks! I never would have thought of that - especially since I had another track around 39.5 seconds which shows as 40 as well and that one worked - round up to 40? no problem - round down to 40? no way. thanks!!

  • Ringtone Generator

    Hi guys,
My group has just been assigned to an iPhone Ringtone Generator project and currently we are still in the requirement gathering phrase whereby we are deciding in which programming methodology approach should we use (Java, Visual C++, C++ etc). Since Java is the only language i have worked with so far, hence i am hoping that i am able to pick Java as the programming approach.
But unfortunately i spent the last week googling for ideas to start with and only then i find out that Java API doesnt supported the following:
    1) the trimming of mp3 (for example i would only want a portion of the mp3 from 1:00 to 1:30), <datasource cant be merged>
    2) encoding the mp3 to ac4 format (as according to my friends, iphone only take in m4r format)
Or is there still a way to complete the ringtone generator in java? Please corrected me if my research is wrong, as I am new to media programming..
    Thanks all for reading.. thanks

    Luxcan wrote:

You could trim it if you wanted the output to be some format other than MP3...
    2) encoding the mp3 to ac4 format (as according to my friends, iphone only take in m4r format)JMF doesn't handle ac4 format. Under Windows, it'll do AC8/AC10, but that's strictly under windows...
Or is there still a way to complete the ringtone generator in java? Please corrected me if my research is wrong, as I am new to media programming.. You could write a program in Java to allow the user to cut a section of an input file (mp3, wav, au, aiff) and save that to the disk. Then you could use JNI and a console-based utility transcoding program to take the output file and convert it into an M4R file for the ringtone file itself.
It'd just require you to find a program that can take some simple audio file (WAV, AU, or AIFF) and convert it to an M4R file (or whatever the ringtone file is) from a command-line driven interface.

  • What app can I get to to turn a sound clip of my grand-nephew into a ringtone?

What app can I get to to turn a sound clip of my grand-nephew into a ringtone?

QuickTime, GarageBand, iTunes, Audacity, and VLC can all do this. Actually, iMovie and FinalCut can too...
Open your audio clip in the desired program and trim id down to the segment you want to use as a ringtone (iTunes can do the conversion, but it can't modify/trim the audio).
Once you have the piece of the audio you want to use, save the audio file as MPEG4 audio (AAC) and use the file suffix ".m4r" instead of ".m4a" or ".mov".
Drag the m4r file onto the iTunes icon in the dock or Applications folder and it will be added to iTunes as a ringtone (which you can add to your phone).
If you use iTunes to convert the audio to AAC format, drag the sound out of iTunes and replace the file name suffix (.m4a) with ".m4r" and drag it back in.
    That's it.
