Trimming the middle of a song
I have a 3 minute song that I want to use for a video. Is there an easy way to cut it down to 2 minutes and still use the original beginning and ending of the song? Basically I'd like to cut out the middle 60 seconds of the song and mix the beginning and ending back together again. Can FinalCut or SoundTrack easily do this?
Any audio editing application ought to do that. Heck, do it with QuickTime Player if you feel so inclined. You don't need to go to the extreme of Soundtrack Pro for that.
If you're not already running Soundtrack Pro (which I assume you're not otherwise you'd have tried it) and want some audio editing app to try, perhaps give Audacity a whirl as it's free.

ITunes Skipping in the Middle of a Song
Ever since I updated iTunes about 5 months ago it's been skipping in the middle of random songs. This happens to random songs, but always hapens to the songs it effects. It happens to purchased songs from iTunes, as well as other music files from other sources. Any idea how to fix this?
I've got the most current version for iTunes on the mac(my mac is also fully up to date).I get this too, with the latest edition of iTunes. From what I can tell, it is a corrputed mp3 file. Apparently, older versions of iTunes were able to ignore minor errors in MP3 files. And the newer version just skips to the next song when it encounters one of these minor errors.
To fix it, I used a small utility app I've had for years that is wonderful. It's called "MP3 TRIMMER" by "DeepNiner". http://www.deepniner.net/mp3trimmer/
I don't know what this app sells for now, but it allows you to open and trim off quiet space at the beginning or end of a song, it's useful in the creation of ringtones, and it has a feature that REPAIRS damaged MP3 files
When you repair a file, it's often split into two separate files, but run it thru again and it allows you to join multiple files into one MP3 file. (this feature is super handy for attaching two songs that always go together like "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions" by Queen. Then those two songs become one file, and ALWAYS play together. But I'm slipping off topic.
Once your file is repaired, the files re-joined (if necessary), then you merely re-import it into iTunes and delete the old one.
I hope this helps, and also, the $10 (or so) cost of the software is totally worth it, IMO. This has been an invaluable tool in my music collection. -

Can in trim the middle out of a voice memo? I recorded my band rehearsing for about an hour. I want to save the songs and edit out our chatter between songs. Thanks.
You need an audio editor. If you have a Mac you can use Garage Band. if you have a Mac, PC or Linux you can use the open source Audacity, probably the best sound editor around.

I downloaded a song that stops at 1:04 and jumps to the next song, as if it's over. This song was in the middle of several songs, but this is the only one that is incomplete. Can I download this song again for free, or do I have to purchase again?

Can anyone tell why my Itunes will only play 5 or 6 songs on shuffle then stop even in the middle of a song, and the only way to fix it is to exit Itunes completley and reopen it?????

Hi, i've also been having a very similar problem with my ipod as well. I find that regardless of which windows-based pc i use (either my xp laptop @ home, or my win2000 desktop @ work) windows and itunes refuses to recognise my ipod. In windows explorer it will show it as a removable drive, but if i click on it, windows freezes. If I try to disconnect it, I cant because windows keeps reporting that 'the device is being used, try disconnecting later' and so then i shut down my laptop to disconnect it safely.
Lately, like you, i've also noticed that clicking sound it makes. It happens when i connect my ipod to my computer - like the drive inside it is constantly restarting or something, and i get it when i'm playing / charging it in my dock. I've also noticed that when it's playing whilst charging, it just freezes on a song, then skips a couple of songs.
I've just discovered the disgnostic tools on my ipod, so i think i'll run a couple of tests (ie HDD scan) and depending on the outcome, i'll go visit the apple store. -
How Do I Fade Out In The Middle Of A Song?

the question is what you want to achieve by doing so. Obviously, transposing is easy. Split the track into two regions. The first region is original pitch, the second is to be transposed. Select the second region. Enter the desired transposition value in the region inspector. Make sure the checkbox "no transpose" is UNchecked in the track inspector.
HOWEVER: You cannot "transpose" minor key into major key. This is because the intervals of full steps / half steps is different for minor and major. The 3rd and the 6th step is a half step in minor, while it is a full step in major. Therefor you must adjust the MIDI events in the piano roll editor to change minor to major and vice versa.

IPod classic stops playing in the middle of a song
I've had the same iPod classic for seven years. It still works very well, except that lately it stops playing in the middle of a song. I have to hit "play" for it to start playing again. Sometimes it will go for only ten seconds between stops, other times it will play just fine for several minutes before stopping. The song that I'm playing doesn't affect the stops. This only happens when I'm running, so I'm wondering if maybe the vibrations from running are what's causing it.
Does anybody have any suggestions for what I could do to fix this? I've tried restoring the iPod, and that didn't affect anything. I always keep the battery fully charged.See if this helps ... https://discussions.apple.com/message/21623941#21623941

If you are syncing music with an iTunes library, you may want to try setting up syncing in iTunes again by following the steps in the appropriate article below. If you're syncing music, try un-checking and then re-checking the "Sync music" checkbox in iTunes.

Go into Advanced>Check for Purchases. It should continue downloading then

Random skipping, stops in the middle of a song...

I've had a good search and no one seems to have been able to solve this problem, or I might have just missed out but..
I have a 2nd generation 10G iPod. I've had it for about a year and a bit (it's already been replaced)
In the middle of a song, it'll stop... make a few funny sounds and then move on to another one after some time.
I've restored it, and every time it'll just stop in different places...
Any advice at all?

Windows XPI've had this problem with a purchased song but never a ripped song. I think its an encoding problem with iTunes. One poster suggested converting the song, which kind of tells us that its something to do with the encoding. I can't remember the song that this happened with, some Tom Petty tune. But I do remember this, which is strange, this happened on my Touch but not the iPhone with same song.

My Nano skips in the middle of a song to the next song.
My ipod will skip in the middle of a song to the next song. It also gives a little iconic sound when doing so. If I push the back button, it goes to the menu page.
My son has just come to me in the last day complaining of the same problem on his Nano that he has been using nonstop since Christmas... He says it just all of a sudden started...& now continues whenever he uses it... He first thought it was the headphones... but they checked out fine... But he claims the songs are always skipping & pausing... I would think that there are others out there with the same problem...& hoped someone at Apple was working on a solution.
