TripAdvisor no longer works in Maps Suite Guides (...

Hello,
I've noticed on my up to date Nokia 808 Pureview that for a couple of weeks now, the TripAdvisor guide, in the Maps Suite Guides, no longer works.
While other guides like Michelin work correctly, TripAdvisor leads to an error (see attached screenshot).
I'm in France but it seems to be the same in Germany, on any Symbian device (I have tested with a Nokia 5800 and Nokia N8, both up to date).
I believe it's a problem on Nokia's server end ; could you fix it please ?
Thank you

FAQ - Why is the TripAdvisor service in the Maps application on Symbian no longer available?

Due to a ceasing contract that Nokia has with TripAdvisor, the TripAdvisor service for the Maps applications on Symbian platform (concerning Maps 3.03 - Maps 3.09) had to be removed from the service list as of mid June 2013. We apologize for the inconvenience towards our TripAdvisor users.

  • N70 No Longer Works With PC Suite

    Hiya
When I first got my N70, it worked pretty well with PC Suite buth at work and on my home PC.
I then upgraded to the latest version at the time.
All of a sudden it no longer works.
It sometimes recognises the phone but won't go into the messages and a few other bits.
I tried going back to the version that the phone came with which i know used to work.
I have tried later version again with no luck.
I now believe there is something on my phone which is stopping it work.
Any thoughts how i can clean my phone of all PC Suite/Sync software so i can start again ??
    Thx
    Paul

To add, I have actually done the cleaning tool that Nokia provide on there site with no luck which is why i believe it is an issue with the phone now

  • Favourites no longer working in maps iOS 8.1

have recently upgraded to iOS 8.1 and discovered today that my old bookmarks, now become favourites no longer work, when you select the favourite, ipad just does nothing, used to drop a pin and you could check directions. I use this mapping app as my main sat Nav these days, it was brilliant, but now seems to be broken, are Apple aware and is this going to be fixed soon.....?
how do I place a support call on this to Apple?
    thanks

iPad Air running latest iOS 8.1.1
    Brother MFC-L2740DW  bought last week.
    Problem: AirPrint does not work.
Verified that the printer and iPad are on the same network. iPad occasionally actually sees the printer. When it does, it tries to do something for 30-45 seconds showing a rotating progress-wheel right next to the printer's name. After that period, sometimes you would see the print button highlighted and you can press  - still the printer won't actually print).  Sometimes you get this message "printer no longer available".
The printer came with firmware version A.1.B,  I updated to firmware version D.1.B after seeing problems, but AirPrint still did not work.
Reinitialized the printer's wifi many times (using the USB port, using the onscreen menu...). No luck.
Power-cycle printer, power-cycle iPad.. no luck.
I made the iPad forget the wifi network and rejoined. No luck.
Rebooted the wireless router and that fixed the problem temporarily. The printer went to sleep and then iPad didn't see the printer again.
I have contacted Brother Tech Support in email and sent an update with the link to this thread so that they can watch this page too.  So far no luck. From watching all the posts above, there is definitely a compatibility problems with the latest iOS version and also Mac OS X.
The same problems exist on Mac OS X 10.10.1 also. Windows laptop has no problems whatsoever on the same wireless network.
Clearly there is a compatibility issue for at least some of the Brother printers. wifi-router is not the problem - Windows laptops have no issue with this printer over the same wifi network exactly at the same time when iPad/Macbook have issues.
Brother and/or Apple should fix this issue asap.

  • Guided Access no longer working

Ive used my guided acess on my iphone 4 with ISO 7.1.2 for my daughter to play with. Now it's no longer working. the triple click still works but it does not with the guided access. Any help on figuring out how to get it to work would be greatly appreciated. I've tried turning off triple click and guided access with no luck. I've also done a reset on my phone.

It is a wireless connection, yes. Every other device in the house works just fine off of this connection. The PC tower itself claims to still be connected via wireless, but is not. I don't know how to connect other than wirelessly, as the cable modem is in another room.

  • Google maps no longer working on safari

Intermittent problem of late. running safari v5.0.5, and I can no longer get google maps to work. I get no map, and then a yellow bar with 'still loading - slow?' etc inside at the top of the page. the troubleshooting link doesn't help. any assistance much appreciated. its difficult to make travel plans for Europe when you relying on this! I am currently using O2 mobile broadband, though I have no idea whether this is in any way relevant. TIA.

I've had the same problem for quite a while. I just thought it was because my computer is so old (2001). I also have a problem with Google images. A few images pop up and that's it.
I resorted to using Yahoo for images and maps, and haven't had a problem.

  • Nokia Maps - Postcode search is no longer working

    Please help!
The is a post on the navigation and GPS section but I wanted to see if anyone on the main forum has experienced the problem, because we cannot find a solution.
Up until the last few days whilst online when I searched for a post code on Nokia Maps the result was the full post code location. When I did the same search offline the result was truncated. ie bp11 4re became bp11 4.
This is pretty useless in trying to locate anything using a post code.
Today I noticed that whether I was online or not, the post code search always produced the shortened result.
I have now searched on line and found nothing save for the post mentioned above. I have performed a hard reset and have the latest firmware for my phone (v12) I also have the latest version of maps v1.2.
Please can someone shed some light on why this search facility has changed. Could it be something to do with the Nokia Server?

A late reply but in case somebody is looking:
    /t5/Nseries-and-Symbian-Smartphones/Nokia-Maps-Postcode-search-is-no-longer-working/td-p/244168
The last one suggests that a full postcode search needs an internet connection.
    This lead to a solution!
In Maps, under Settings / General / Connection you have a choice of Online or Offline. If you have Offline then the search is limited as described, with the last two postcode characters ignored. If you have Online selected, then it works properly.
So even though Nokia Maps are offline maps, the full postcode search is done on their server.

  • "Same as Input" mapping no longer works in 2.1.1.

I have "tap tempo" mapped at the concert level to C3. On certain patches I actually want to play a C3 note and hear it. Every time I try to override the concert mapping at the set or patch level the "same as input" option no longer works. It simply creates a new tab that says "unmapped."
Am I doing something wrong here?

I figured it out... "Same as input" definately no longer works, but if the MIDI note is assigned to a "drum pad" screen control (it won't work with a "button" screen control) you can override it at the set and patch level by choosing the name of the instrument in the screen control inspector >MIDI Notes> Select desire note.
Again, "buttons" don't provide you with any "MIDI notes" option in the override area... they just give you a "MIDI controller" option.
"Same as input" for sure worked in Mainstage 2.0 but now there is a little bit more of a workaround... kinda weird, but maybe you get more customization this way

  • Google Maps features no longer work or are extremely slow

After upgrading my 1st gen iPhone to 2.0.x, many things don't work as they should. Either at all or there is an incredible delay before working.
One issue is that after you've created directions in Google maps from point A to point B, if you want to reverse the directions, the reverse (s-shaped) button no longer works.
Also the bookmarks button is very very delayed, as is contacts and the + button to add anything.

I had received the Master Suite 6 in December of 2012, and used it flawlessly on my MacBook. I recently upgraded to a MacBook Pro, and transferred the programs I had used (Photoshop, InDesign), but my serial no longer works. I want to delete parts of nokia maps suite 2.0.

    public transport-not availible for amsterdam
    check in-never use that ether
On the suite of betalabs I could just delete the items I did not want, is there any way to delete the seperate items? or delete the whole suite so i can reinstall the one from betalabs?
I already tried new firmware, backup and deleting them from the installer in settings.

    Some quick regression;
As I'd mentioned Radio I thought I should try that app. Ran it and it gave the message about insert a headphone 'cause it's used as an antenna so I put in the headphone .... and after about 10 secs the headphone symbol popped up! And I could hear static! So I quickly switched to the music player app and played a tune! Sweet! Then the radio app lost the headphones and the music player stopped :-(
So, I unplugged the headphones, ran the radio app, plugged in the headphone as prompted, found a station, listened to it, went to the music player, started a song playing and went back and closed the radio app - song still playing!
Great! Got to hear a few tunes then ... 'Accessory not supported' message and silence :-(
In conclusion, the hardware works and there is an intermittent workaround. Watch this space

  • Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 breaks headphone support on N...

    Hi there,
Software update and the Ovi store recommended that I update to Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 on my N8 running Belle.
I did so over the air from the Ovi store link. Installation didn't interact with me but phone eventually restarted. Maps wouldn't work i.e. selecting the shortcut or going into the menu and locating the Maps icon would not launch it and my wired headset WH-701 was no longer recognised when I inserted it. Checked installed apps - Maps not there. Checked the forums and there's a lot of misinformation out there about this sort of problem, some of it bluetooth specific, but no direct answer :-(
Did a soft restart *#7780# and when the phone restarted had my headphones back :-) BUT no maps :-( Last night did the Ovi store link again from my broadband router this time with the phone in offline mode and wifi on. Installation was a lot more interactive giving progress on each app being installed. It did give a 'running out of memory on c: drive' error a couple of times (I had checked before the installation and had 25Mb). Phone restarted, maps was terrific, even showing locations of pics I'd taken with the phone and offering me public transport timetables in U.S. cities but ... headphones not recognised when inserted!
I believe I'm now in a position where I can use my N8 for maps OR for listening to music/radio but not both. Some people will recommend a hard reset, wipe the thing, start from scratch but I'm wondering if it's not just my handset - what if there is a bug that hasn't been noticed yet? Maybe the low memory in C: is impacting on the installation and some parts are being dropped to accomodate this.
    My plan of action is
    i) to post this in the hope someone has come across this already and has a working solution
ii) Do a backup of my txt messages, pics and other data files
iii) make a note of all the extra installed apps from Ovi etc.. and make sure I can get them again
iv) do a hard reset, apply all the updates, reinstall all my apps, transfer back any relevant data files and hope I'll have Maps AND be able to listen to music :-)
All thoughts/comments/suggestions. Never forget, there's no such thing as stupid questions, only stupid answers

  • Nokia maps suite 2.0 update- any issues?

My phone is showing up an update Nokia maps suite 2.0 on software update client. Has anybody installed this update? I am a bit apprehensive because the Nokia maps 3.08 we got as update last time had problems and it had to taken off from the servers. I just want to confirm that this has no issues.
In Love With My C6-01:Now running on Nokia Belle!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I upgraded to the new "official" versioin using Nokia Suite.  The upgrade seemed to go smoothly, but when I was still waiting five or six minutes after it said "one minute left" I got concerned.  I didn't stop anything on the PC - I simply picked up the phone and started 'Maps'.
Whether i was coincidence or just my timing, the process completed on the PC, just as Maps was starting up on the phone.
Indoors, it was no longer sure of my location - it kept changing me to random places that were close to where I live, but not not correct.  That's when I had to stop.
The next day, on a trip from Miami to Ft. PIerce, the software seemed to work beautifully.  I like the revised interface.  The phone worked fine, and I was quite pleased with it all.
(I didn't know about the 20-megs of space being taken up in C: memory - if so, I'm hoping Nokia will correct this.  As to the update, I don't know if the installation just "hanging" on my PC was normal - if I would have kept on waiting, maybe it would have completed without my having started the software on my phone.  Overall, I'm quite pleased - but keep in mind that Nokia Maps is now the single biggest reason why I'm still using a N8.)

  • Nokia Maps Suite 2.0

I've just used Nokia Suite to install Nokia Maps Suite 2.0 on a N8 running Belle.  I had been reading about it here: http://blog.maps.nokia.com/nokia-maps/download-nokia-maps-suite-on-your-nokia-belle-device#more-1929...
(When the installation said less than a minute left, it actually took much longer, around six minutes.  I was worried the program had crashed, so I tried to start it on my phone anyway, and right after that, the installation completed.)
According to the version information on the phone, I now have:
       Version  v3.09 12wk09 b05
       MW OpenGL MN
       Map version 0.2.45.110
I've got a few questions - the very first one being whether there is a document posted somewhere explaining how to use the new software?  Or, is it to be trial and error on my part?
Next, I accidentally created a new "favorite" while trying things out - I can delete it by going to my favorites list, and doing a long-press on that favorite, to bring up the box with "delete".  Should I be able to delete favorites on the main Maps page as well?  I think that's how I used to do it ages ago.
I did a search for a local bagel restaurant, and eventually found it.  I clicked on the little "i" (for information?) at the right side of the listing, and got their street address.  Should I also have gotten their phone number?  It would be nice if not only the phone number showed up, but if I could click on it to call them.
From the website about the program listed above:
"For our UK users, new Voice Search lets you get directions simply by speaking, so you can now navigate hands-free! Tap on the microphone icon next to the search box and speak your destination. Voice Search will be available for more countries and languages soon."  Is this included in what I just downloaded, and will it work in the USA and India?
Finally, I read something in this forum posted recently: "If you're still having issues trying the latest beta version from here should fix the issue: http://betalabs.nokia.com/apps/nokia-maps-suite "    Is this version even newer than the one I just downloaded?  Which do you recommend?  Can you explain the differences?
First impressions are very positive.  The list we put together for Bell problems/issues can be found here:  /t5/Software-Updates/List-of-Belle-additions-corrections-needed/td-p/1328167/page/5 .   The issues for previous versions of maps were:
MAPS-- Ability to delete or edit map favorites from Drive (can be done from Maps).
MAPS-- Re-enable the auto/Bluetooth connection to work with Nokia Maps Navigation.Camera & video
MAPS-- Re-enable the auto/Bluetooth connection to work with Nokia Maps Navigation
MAPS-- Return the English "surfer dude" voice to  Voice Navigation on the N8.
MAPS-- Not possible to delete maps history.
MAPS-- provide a simple and convenient method to import and export GPS coordinates
MAPS-- Map widget doesn't support rotation with fingers
MAPS-- No backup ability for map favorites without going on-line
I'm hoping when some of us test these in the new version, we'll be able to mark them as "solved"

    Mike_Myers_N8 wrote:
Well, my suggestions are as follows:
    Backup -
As to GPS, I when the phone displays the information about a "favorite", the GPS co-ordinates should be displayed right there.
I will have to test the other way as well - there should be a way to enter the GPS co-ordinates of a place you're interested in.  I did that years ago before even Anna was released, and it was very handy.  GPS co-ordinates are a "standard", a "universal" way of describing a location.
It's nice that the software can do all the things it does with the internet/cloud, but that should all be in addition to the basic ways of doing it, not instead of.  ....at least that's my opinion.
I'm leaving on a trip tomorrow - will have several days to work with the new Maps software, and see what I think.  First impressions are mostly good!  ...and thanks for your help!
Points taken on backup. I don't actually use backups much myself preferring to copy files manually. What could be an idea for Nokia Suite is to be able to define additional filetypes or folders to be syncd.
Agreed that display of lat/long would be useful on the favorite page, in fact I would go further and wish for the coordinates to also be displayed in 'local' coordinate systems as well.
You can search by lat/long (eiter as DMS or decimal degrees) as shown in the attachment. Again I would like it to go further as I would prefer to have been able to search for the point i used as 'SP 487 169'. Incidentally I tried the same lat/long coordinate search with google maps, on the N8 and my android tablet, and found that rather than it returning the point i was searching for it decided to choose a nearby address, so in terms of searching Nokia is way ahead.
Hope you have a god trip and maps proves useful. Since getting the N8 I have completly given up using my dedicated satnav and gps recievers, as well as compact camera.

  • Nokia maps suite.. NEW

Nokia Maps Suite: Everything You Need To Know
The new ‘Nokia Maps Suite’ was arguably the biggest application release at the opening day of Nokia World 2011. The new suite brings ‘the future of location-based services’ to your fingertips. Designed with the commuter in mind, the new location software is the best way to travel on trams, trains and buses with worldwide coverage. Perfect for when the train, bus and tram break down and you need to use Nokia Maps to find your way on foot. Sharing is also a core competence of the new suite, the ‘Pulse’ application allows you to check in with friends and family on the go, presumably this is to ensure your finger is always on the pulse!
We are going to take you on a wild rollercoaster ride that explores the four main location-based software groups that complete the Nokia Maps Suite. Here is a quick overview for those that like to keep it top line, before we delve deep into each group:
    1. Live View: A new augmented-reality browser that turns your phone’s camera viewfinder to help you spot places of interest.
    2. Pulse: Enables you to privately share and discuss your location, photos and mood with friends and family.
    3. Public Transport: You don’t need to work for CSI:Miami to solve this one. The Public Transport app tells you the most efficient way to get from A to B using public transport anywhere in the world.
    4. Places: Once again, the clue is in the name, this app quite simply helps you discover places around you.
    Nokia Live View via Nokia
Now it’s time to do some delving.
    Live View
The above image highlights the most exciting feature of the Nokia Maps Suite. Some of you may have never used augumented-reality on your smart-phones before, so we thought we would give you a quick augumented-reality check. Augumented-reality essentially merges the worlds of online and offline. Take the street you work, live or study on, if you were to open the app and point the camera down the street, you would not only see the physical elements of a shop, restaurant or bar but you would see the virtual elements of the shop superimposed on your screen. By ‘virtual’ we mean the information about the shop that is available online. So this may include the shops name, the products it sells, the opening times and its exact location from where you are standing. Sounds pretty futuristic doesn’t it! If that explanation didn’t make any sense then here is a definition of augumented-reality. Augmented-reality used to be offered as a stand-alone application but now it joins the new Nokia Maps family.
If you are not comfortable using the camera view you can always switch to a list or map view of your surrounding area, but we think that takes the fun out of the whole app. There is also a great feature that lets you browse famous places from around the world.
    Pulse
Pulse is a great new feature that lets you connect with friends and family in a private capacity. You don’t need to belong to a social network, you simply add your location with a post and everyone else you have added will see your latest activity. Your post could include text, a photo or your location. The app is private by default so there is no need to build a 10ft wall around your personal details. Nokia Pulse is also integrated with maps so as soon as a friend checks in nearby you can find out exactly how to reach them, or alternatively, exactly how to avoid them! Check out the video below, it explains everything about Pulse:
    Nokia Pulse via Nokia
    Public Transport
This is a great app for those of us travelling long distances on public transport everyday. It neatly combines several methods of public transport into one easy interface. So, if you know you might need to take a bus, tram or train on your travels, then all of the proposed timings, locations and routes required will be displayed. You may even be directed to walk some of the journey to reach your next form of public transport, unlucky! The app has ‘up-to-the-minute’ updates on all bus and tram routes in 45 cities and the device tracks public transportation directly on a mobile device in more than 430 cities worldwide.
    Nokia Transport via Nokia
    Places
Need to find a last minute Michelin Star restaurant for some new clients? Forgotten to get your wife flowers on your wedding anniversary? Or are you just bored of going to the same burger bar every Friday lunchtime? Well the Places app is a fantastic solution to these problems because it gets you to your desired and undiscovered destinations faster and more efficiently. You can check ratings and reviews for restaurants you are unsure about in a foreign land, get directional advice to the location you have chosen and then find the nearest taxi rank to grab a trip home. The software is designed to help you find locations in your local area that you may have previously been unaware of. Who knows, that burger bar you didnt know about behind your office could be alot tastier and better value for money than the one right in front of your office!
So, there you have it, our take on the new Nokia Maps software. We can’t wait to put some of these technologies into practice, in the meantime though we want you to tell us whether this sounds like the future of mapping and if not, why!? Do share!
If  i have helped at all a click on the white star below would be nice thanks.
    Now using the Lumia 1520

OK I feel silly now. I just realized that the links to donwload maps manually work now...
I will try again to add them through Nokia Suite in 10 hours and I will use manual download if it does not work.
Thanks anyway and I advise everyone to download the whole world to be prepared for the moment where the server is unplugged.
