TRIPLE the price on iTunes??

I've been wanting to add some TV Show Seasons to my iTunes library. Almost every TV show I have priced has been drastically more expensive on iTunes. How I Met Your Mother - Season 4 for example, is $39.99 in the iTunes store, and is $16.99 at Target. Does anyone else find this outrageous? Call me crazy, but I would think digital downloads should be cheaper than a 3 DVD box set in a retail store. I wrote into iTunes Customer Support and they seemingly have no desire to match the price. As much as I love my Apple TV, I don't really want to spend triple the price to be able to view the content on it. Guess I'm sticking with DVDs.

They don't set the price, the distributer (re: studio) does.
Studios have to hire people and create digital distribution departments to get their content online, so it's not unheard of that the startup costs of that would show up in the product. In time they should fall, but who knows when. There's a lot of convenience to not have to swap discs (or risk damaging them) and the alternative of buying the discs and converting them to digital manually can be daunting for people.
I'm not saying it's a good idea, but I can understand some of the increase.

Does anyone know why the majority of the songs on iTunes cost $1.29 ?

I am definitely not a novice when it comes to iTunes but i noticed that the majority of the songs are $1.29 instead of .99 cents. Does anyone have a reasonable explanation for this? I never thought of asking until now. Will it ever go back to to the original prices prior to two years ago?

Why change now?
For years, the four biggest record companies have clamored for more control over pricing on iTunes. Apple relented, presumably in exchange for the right to sell songs stripped of copy protection software.
The big question is what the new prices will mean for Apple and the music industry.
After doing numerous tests, the big labels are confident that music fans will pay $1.29 for hit songs, according to industry sources. But in these uncertain times, determining what kind of revenue this might generate is unclear, the sources said. The recording industry is hoping that charging 30 cents less for older titles than iTunes' traditional 99-cent standard will reinvigorate sales.
It must be noted that most of the prices on iTunes are unchanged or reduced. Brad Stone at The New York Times found that of the 100 best-selling songs, only 33 are now selling for $1.29.
Of course, the music industry is trying to make up for dwindling CD sales and the losses from illegal file sharing. A lot of digital-music fans see the struggles of the recording companies as self-inflicted. They are unlikely to dig deeper into their pockets just to help the industry.

Buying and item from iTunes, What action do you take in between having chossen an item to purchase and then being able to click on the word BUY. I have clicked on the price as it satates in the tutorial and I get a list of actions such as gift this item

This question is for anyone who has purchased an item from iTunes.
What action or actions do you take inbetween having selected the item to be purchased and having the word BUY appear on your screen for you to clic on it?
I have been told to clic on the price. When I do that this list appears; gift this, add to wish list, tell a friend, copy link, share on Facebook & share on Twitter.
Should I clic on one of thses or press enter after having clicked on one of these?

I don't think they see any difference between the two tabs as I didn't think there was any seperation and the arrow was the place to clic on the price.
What would it take to get your statment added to the iTune tutorial?
For that matter what would it take to get actual tutorials listed under the heading Tutorials listed at the bottom of most iTunes screens. If you clic on the heading Tutorials at the bottom of iTunes pages it lists ads not tutorials.

After previewing song on itunes, the "price" button remians "play"

I went onto iTunes, found some songs by the artist I wanted and previewed a couple of songs. After that, I noticed the "price" buttons had turned into "play" buttons, but only for those songs. Now I don't know how to buy them. I tried leaving the page, searching a different way, but whenever I went back to the song I wanted, it still only offered the "play" button in the price column. PLease tell me what I am doing wrong. Thank you!

Try playing that one song in Quicktime Player. Does it play all the way, or does it end early? If it ends early it is possible you have a bad download. You can delete the song from iTunes, then download it again. If it only jumps in iTunes you can browse back posts where others have had similar issues. I haven't seen any single, quick cures. Some people have managed to get the 'skipping last 40 seconds' issue to clear with applying a system update to their computer.

Actually, if you are updating the free iLife apps (iPhoto, iMovie & GarageBand) that came with your new Mac, the updates are free. Only if you are upgrading to newer major paid versions would you be charged.

Why does the itunes store show the apps I have downloaded Free or the price instead of "downloaded"?

I have encountered this problem since Christmas. When I open the itunes and want to search the apps I have downloaded, and it keeps showing these apps free or with a price instead of downloaded. However, I have not encountered this problem in my iphone. This problem makes me confused that whether I have downloaded the app if I do not check the "Purchased".
Like the following one, even though I have downloaded the app, it shows the price to me instead of "downloaded".

I'm trying to purchase songs on my iPad but the price isn't in bold. It just plays a sample of the song. I can purchase apps or games, just not music. I then tried purchasing music on my computer and it did allow it. Problem is I never have my computer connected, I just use my iPad all the time. Can anyone help me? Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro. If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook. Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad. Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

So isn't there any approximate period of time (for example after cinemas and pay tvs stop broadcasting them) after which Apple usually reduces or has to reduce the price?
I'm asking this because I noticed that just newer movies in the store have the 16.99 € price tag while older movies (not only 007s) have the 9.99 or 11.99 price tag.

I pre-ordered Paramore's new album one day and the next day I received a $15 gift card for itunes and I redeemed it. My question is now that I have redeemed it will itunes take the price of the preordered album from my $15 or from my debit card?

If not how can I make that happen? The Paramore pre-order is $9.99 and I want itunes to take the money from the gift card and not my bank account. The charge won't happen until the 9th, when it is released.

I'm kind of running into the same problem with a TV season I bought. I have watched the first 4 episodes just fine but now a new episode is available and it wants me to pay for it. Even though I have already paid for it when I bought the complete season.
I think they are mucking around in the servers and causing this issue. I have reported the problem through iTunes and I hope they get it fixed soon.
EDIT: I just want to add that I didn't know AC/DC's new album was out, I'll have to go buy it. Thanks for the heads up on that.
