Trophy Update to WP7.8!?

Would someone from VZN please tell us if and when the Windows Phone 7.8 update will be pushed out to us Trophy users (a device that is still listed for sale on your site)!
It would sure be nice to have it.
It is really frustrating to be kept in the dark and be the last to get these updates.

Please don't search for the app on windows phone hacker site like I did because it worked flawlessly for me and even offers a community support forum and FAQs. DON'T DO IT! We are not allowed to recommend how to install updates so I am not doing that, even though this forum is only  intended to promote communication between paying customers (users) and this forum is not a way to communicate with Verizon team members/support staff or even be read by Verizon employees.
Instead, wait like most users for the update to be pushed out by Verizon some day.
...or buy the new Nokia Lumia 928, which I am considering.

  • Cant update to wp7.8

Hi there! My Nokia lumia 710 can't update to wp7.8..i tried the Zune trick..it popped out update Is available on my phone..but zune couldn't connect it...how can I resolve this problem?

    Hi Haha17,
    Welcome to the forum.
I understand your frustration to get the WP7.8 update but forcing the update may cause damage to your phone. Therefore, Nokia is not recommending those kind of method of updating to be followed by their users. The software update depends on the phone's variant, country, and operator. The best solution is to wait for the update to become available for your phone or you can also ask your operator if they have already approved the update as some of the operators are blocking it.

  • Trophy Update Shuts off Computer

I am having a major issue in getting my Trophy to update to OS version 7.10.8107.79. When I connect the phone to my laptop, Zune recognizes that the phone has an update available. During the backup process, the computer abruptly powers off as if it had no battery and the plug was yanked out of the wall. This happened with the last OS update, but after a few attempts it eventually successfully updated. I did nothing to the computer or phone to make that happen. Each time it happened during the backup process. There is plenty of space on my HD available for backup. My laptop never does this any other time, and I do not have issues synching the phone or adding files. This only happens during an OS update.
Here is the relevant PC and phone information:
    LAPTOP:
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 32 bit
    Dell Studio 1535 Laptop
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, T9300 @ 2.5 ghz

    OS version 7.10.7740.16

    Hardware rev. 0003
If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!

        Hello bbp55,
Thank you for sharing your software concerns with the community. This is certainly an unusual situation and I can understand that you want to prevent this from happening again. Let's get this taken care of. First, I'm glad to see that the software has been successfully updated on your device. May I ask is there any physical or liquid damage on your laptop or the Trophy? Also, have you completed all of the patches and OS updates on the computer? If not then I would encourage you to do so. If the issue is persistent in future software updates for the Trophy then I would suggest reaching out to Microsoft as they created the operating system to both the phone and the computer. Their contact number is 866-724-8856.
    Thank you...

  • Hey, Verizon!  Where's the 7392 (security) update???

Has anyone else noticed that the phone finds no updates for the 7392 (May) security update?

    Hello hopmedic,
May I ask what type of device you have? I'm a little unsure as to what you are asking? May I have you elaborate.
    Thank you...
The Verizon Trophy - the only WP7 device you have (This is the Windows Phone forum)
The 7392 update is the security update that Microsoft pushed out at the beginning of the month.  This phone doesn't have it.
    hopmedic,
Given the quality of Verizon's reply here I thought I'd provide some kind of update:
    First the Good News:
Microsoft has a dedicated page that provides regular updates on where the carriers are at with WP7 updates at any given time.  The page is located here:
    www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/features/update-schedule-usa.aspx
As of this evening, MS has added the status for Build 7392 (which is the build that updates the certifcate issue)
    Now the Bad News:
Verizon is not yet on the list for U.S. carriers.  After asking around the understanding that I've been given is that Verizon is not yet "testing" the 7392 Build for the trophy and therefore they are not yet on the list.  Supposedly they will be added to the U.S. carrier update page "soon".  Until then I would not hold my breath.
For those that are new to the MS Update Policy for WP7, let me try to provide a brief overview:
Microsoft's update policy is something of a middle-ground compromise between how Apple handles their updates (i.e. Apple controls the process and pushes out the updates when they are ready to do so)  and Google (which does updates of the O/S and leaves when (or even if) those updates get pushed out by a carrier of manufacturer.
In MS's case, they push out the updates (like Apple), BUT they don't push the update out until the carrier gives the go-ahead to do so.  Carriers have the ability to "skip" ONE update, so they are not required to do every update that is released, but they must never be more than 2 revisions behind whatever is the most current version that is compatable with the Phone's hardware.
So, for example, Verizon could choose to "skip" 7392 on the Trophy if they wanted to but if they choose to do so, they will have no choice but to release Mango the Trophy when it is released.  Or they could do 7392 here in the near Future and then choose to skip Mango (though that would be unlikely).  So far no carrier has excercised this option, but it is in the agreement that MS has with the carriers and manufacturers.
And last, just like all Windows Desktop and Server "service packs", all WP7 updates are cumulative, so 7392 would also include all the updates in 7390 and 7008, even if those two updates where never installed to your Phone.
    - Michael
Ah - I had forgotten about the update status website.  Thanks.
As far as cumulative updates, it's not quite like that.  I have updated two Samsung Foci, and both did the same thing the first time I hooked them up: Installed the Feb update, installed NoDo, then installed 7392.  They were three separate updates, not all wrapped in one.  I believe by cumulative, they mean that when you install 7392, for instance, 7390 will install prior to 7392, so you will get all the updates.

Sounds like network related.  Please upload your event viewer logs
Please provide us with your Event Viewer administrative logs by following these steps:

Right click eventvwr.exe and click Run as administrator
    Expand Custom Views
    Click Administrative Events
    Right click Administrative Events
Save all Events in Custom View As...
Save them in a folder where you will remember which folder and save as Errors.evtx
Go to where you saved Errors.evtx
Right click Errors.evtx -> send to -> compressed (zipped) folder
Upload the .zip file to Onedrive or a file sharing service and put a link to it in your next post
If you have updated to win 8.1 and you get the error message "the system cannot find the file specified" it is a known problem.
The work around is to edit the registry.  If you are not comfortable doing this DONT.  If you are, backup the key before you do
    Press Win+"R" and input regedit

  • Transfer of video

    Hi,
I have transfered DV film from my Sony Camera to my computer with Phoroshop Elements. Otherwise ok, but for some reason from time to time the images "goes too fast" when playing the video (not even speed). Any ideas what could be the problem?
    Thanks and best regards,
    Marcus

Yes you can transfer music, videos and documents such as contacts and notes from a full Bluetooth FTP-enabled phone to a Windows Phone 8 device and vice versa. The only problem is that one file is transfered at a time.
Also if you cannot use your Lumia phone to transfer any file out, try these three things out:
    1. Hold Volume down and Power keys for 10 seconds to soft reset/restart it and later switch it on as normal.
    2. If your Lumia phone is working, back up all phone's data into your computer or SkyDrive, tap Settings>about>Reset your phone.
    3. You may have a WP7.5 Lumia phone, update it via Zune to WP7.8, search and get the Bluetooth Sharer app from the Windows Phone Store.
If assuming steps 1 and 2 fails for your WP8 Lumia or step 3 fails if you have a WP7.5 Lumia updated to WP7.8, take the device to the nearest Nokia Care point for repairs.

  • Why hasn't WP 7.8 update been released on HTC Trophy?

Title says it all.  I don't want to use any third party ROMs that may damage my device / void my warranty but that's what Verizon is telling its customers to do when it doesn't release a long awaited update.  I, like other Trophy users, bought the Trophy when it was the only WP device on Verizon, and now they are refusing to provide any information, answer any questions, or release 7.8 update for it.  Thanks.

Is she able to text you successfully?
SMS is a carrier feature so you need to contact your carrier about this. They may need to remove and re-add SMS to your account to get this working correctly.

  • Updated Trophy, powered overnight on charger - black screen next morning

I updated my Trophy, then plugged it into the charger overnight. The next morning, I have a black screen with 3 thin blue/green lines & what looks like a crack in the screen in the form of a white irregular line - but the glass is intact. The phone seems to work, I did a restore to the last backup & it completed successfully. Tried taking the battery out to completely power down, tried doing a restart - no luck. Went by the Verizon store & immediately "Its cracked." I keep it in a case, the condition is immaculate even though I've had it for 8 months or so. Any opinions on whether I should keep trying stores for a different opnion, or just bite the bullet & do an insurance claim? Although I'm tempted to just apply the $$ to the breakup fee & kiss Droidzon goodbye.

  • If WP7.xap app will be updated to WP8.xap on WindowsPhone 8 device ?

    Hi
I have an quesiton. Do you know what will happen when some user with Windows Phone 8 device have already installed 7.x XAP and then someone at dashboard will add 8.0 XAP (supporting Windows Phone 8) by "add new" option. Is the user who already has
7.x XAP will be automatically updated to 8.0 XAP ? And what will happen with IsolatedStorage?
If it will be preserved or cleared?

  • HTC Trophy mango update did not activate

I downloaded the Mango update around a month ago now, and I had no change to my phone OS. No updates are apparently available for my phone, so it definitely installed in some capacity, but I haven't seen any change in functionality. Any ideas?

I saw this issue on the WPCentral forums.  The issue exists with your HTC Connection Manager app.  You need to restore your phone to the "pre-mango" version from the backup taken before the upgrade, then unistall the connection manager app, update to mango again, and then everything should work fine.
Something happens with the connection manager when mango updates and it messes up the 3G connection.

  • Using an update; not yours on the WP7 phone

My wife is eligible for an update with $30 discount. I have one also but would like to save it for later in the year. Can I use her update and activate it with my number? I don't see any reason why not but would like some confirmation.
    Thanks from Arizona

I didn't quite do this, but did something similar...  When I got married, I moved my wife's account onto mine, since I had a corporate discount, then we gave her son her old phone, and got her a new phone.  Her son is on our account.  It was no problem switching phone numbers between phones.  I'd go into the store, tell them what you want to do, and I'm sure they'll be able to do it.

  • HTC Trophy Connection Lost 4th Time post Mango Update

Everyone, I am well aware of the issues surrounding the Mango update and lost data connection. I have reset my phone several times and reapplied updates w/o the connection app, but continue to lose my data connection (no 3G, 1x, anything). It seems to get triggered intermittently when going to work out in a gym that is located in a huge air hanger (Cargo plane size) whose massive steel structure creates a very marginal connection. When this occurs, I can still call/text, but the data connection is gone. The only recourse is to hard reset my phone and reapply the updates. At this point, I'm done resetting my phone every two weeks to temporarily solve the problem. I have done the *228 to reprogram the phone, taken the battery out and put it back in, tried various combinations of turning the data connection switch on/off w/ and w/o airplane mode w/ resets following each change. No, I don't have the HTC connection app installed now or before the update. Does anyone have any solutions for solving this problem other than resetting it. A sales person at the Fairfield Mall corporate store said I would need to call to get a ticket to get the phone replaced under warranty, which is want I want to have occur (or moved into an Android/iPhone) On another sad note, the sales person said their store does not carry any windows phones, have received almost no interest in selling them, and was shocked that I had such a Verizon phone. He had never sold one himself...doesn't bode well for Windows Phone (maybe I could get a beta of Nokia phone coming to Verizon ). Thank you. Frustrated, Michael

Less than two weeks after receiving the refurbished replacement, preloaded with Mango, it has also lost data connectivity. In addition, the "digitizer" on this phone is horrible, which makes scrolling and sliding movement hard to complete and taps1/3 of the way down on the left side appear dead from time-to-time. Should I hard reset my phone every two week to just get data connectivity restored. This seems like an unacceptable resolution to the problem considering the amount of time it takes to restore email, address books, settings, and apps. A Verizon representative claimed a technical support person would call back an hour after my initial call, but this did not happen. I'm becoming very unhappy with both this phone and Verizon support at this rate. I'm hoping they will just replace the phone with an iPhone or Android phone at this point. I would rather just be done with the Windows Phones at this point. (My wife's Droid 2 global has worked really well for her). Unsatisfied Customer, Michael Robbeloth

  • Any word on Trophy 7.8 update?

I just saw a buddy's Samsung with 7.8 and it look good.  Where is ours?

        Hi MrKazoo,
I can certainly understand your excitement for a software update, per they always make the device better. Verizon Wireless and HTC are working hard to make sure that you have the best device experience. While I have no information on this update, you can keep up with the latest device news here http://bit.ly/n5snpq . Have a great day!
