Various issues accessing BBC content:
i player app not installing correctly - despite repeated attempts - always throws up error message.
When I try to access directly from web-site, message pops up that device is not supported.
Listen Again app downloads ok but throws up error message or fails to connect selected program
Any ideas?

Currently we are have a trouble accessing the KM contents , We are getting the following error
RuntimeException: InitialConfigException: Configuration framework system error : "A problem during initialization of the configuration Framework has been detected . Possible reason can be failure discovering of the sources."

The resolution for the problem is as follows :
The initial problem was , We were not able to View KMC iViews (providing a Runtime Exception)
java.lang.RuntimeException: InitialConfigException: Configuration framework system error: "A Problem during initialization of the Configuration Framework has been detected. Possible reason can be failure during discovering of the sources."
The cause of the actual problem was - The Write-protect Mode for the PCD was activated , due to which the config framework cannot start thus preventing the entire KMC from starting up.
Please perform the following steps :
1: Start the Visual Administrator.
2: Navigate to Global Configuration -> Server -> Services -> com.sap.portal.pcd.gl.
3: If Pcd.Pl.WriteProtectActivated is set to 'True', click the Reset Default Global Properties icon.
4: This property should now be restored to it's default value (False).
5: Save changes.
6: Restart the J2EE engine.

BBC content on Apple TV2?

In the last-but-one update to Apple TV2, the BBC radio streams became available on the radio player. For UK users, that was a plus, as otherwise we have very little UK-based content (no 'local' film rental, no TV streaming like iPlayer, 4OD etc.).
However, I have just updated my TV to OS 4.2.2. and although the channels still appear in the available radio stations list, I cannot access their content (I either get 'error loading' message or 'cannot access Internet Radio stations'). The commercial radio stations seem unaffected.
Does anyone have any idea as to whether there's an issue for Apple to connec to the BBC streams, or there is something in the update that now prevents this? Are the BBC using dome DRM that is incompatible with Apple?

No, I am asking about the Radio function built into the Apple TV2. Before the recent update, you could access the BBC radio streams in the Radio player, but after the recent update, they still appear in the list of channels, but cannot be listened to.
To listen to BBC radio on your computer, try:
www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/
This works fine for me on my various Macs at home and the office.

Having trouble accessing web sites

Since the last Security and Mac OS X Snow Leopard point update, I've had trouble accessing using websites. I've tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome and they all are broken in some way. This is happening across all my Macs. Using Safari at the weather.com site, I can't get the maps to load after 4:00--it just quits or keeps trying to load, With Firefox or Chrome I get the actual window under a window that says It can't find the page requested--see image below, nor will it load maps. With Netflix, I am unable to view artwork or display content summaries for video selection, I have a similar exoerience with Hulu--some graphic elements in the header aren't displayed. I've repaired permissions with no change. Anyone know what's up? Any help is appreciated.

Problem accessing BBC News via iPad 2, iPhone or web

Anybody else have these problems - and solutions?
I have continuous, but erratic problems accessing BBC News either through MacBook Pro, iPhone 3G or iPad 2 (64G Wi-Fi & 3G). Until a few months ago, I never had problems accessing BBC News via my computer. Now I often cannot access the site at all, and problems occur whether I use Google Chrome (11.0.696.57)or Safari (5.0.5). Erratically and less frequently, however, the pages load OK. I have no problem loading other news websites, e.g. CNN or Al Jazeera. I live in Spain. My internet provider is Movistar. I have an ADSL connection of 10Mb (maximum available here) and a wireless router. My MacBook Pro runs OS X 10.6.7.
When trying to access BBC through Google Chrome, I get the following message:
Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.bbc.co.uk
Try reloading: www.bbc.co.uk/news/
Additional suggestions:
Access a cached copy of www.bbc.co.uk/news/
Trying to access BBC on Safari, I get this message:

I wrote to BBC tech support complaining about my access problem through computer, iPhone and iPad. On May 2, I received the following reply:

We have contacted Telefonica and they have advised anyone with problems
to contact them directly

Hence, I contacted Movistar (new name of Telefonica) tech support. I was told they knew nothing about the problem and tried to blame my computer for it. And then they hang up!!! Not impressed!!
I wrote to BBC again on May 19 asking WHO I should contact in Telefonica/Movistar, since their tech support staff claim not to know about the problem As of today, no reply from BBC, so still very frustrated!

Trouble accessing Wi-fi network

I'm having trouble configuring my ATV to access my home wi-fi network. I'm running an Intel-based iMac on a Time Capsule-based network. When going through the ATV setup I am prompted to enter my network password. I then receive an error message telling me that ATV is connected to the network but can't access the Internet. I tried a few different options - connecting through DHCP, manually configuring my network settings, etc. - but nothing works.
Even though I couldn't access the Internet, I continued with the setup. I am able to get to the main menu, where I should be able to access my content but whenever I try to access something - such as YouTube - I get an error message telling me I'm not connected to the Internet.
When I go to iTunes on my iMac, the ATV device is visible and the synch page opens. But when I try to synch, I get an error message telling me that I need to open a port in my firewall.
I tried calling Apple support but that was of no help. They basically had me unplug everything and plug it back in. Any ideas what's happening?

This isn't the most helpful answer in the world, but I offer it in case it helps. Perhaps you should also post this question, albeit worded slightly differently, in the Time Capsule forums. I assume that the Time Capsule has firewall settings built in, and perhaps these are causing problems - the TC forum people might be able to help out.

Trouble accessing photos.

Hello! Need help! Having trouble accessing photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, I had a free trial but never registered the program because I was not using it. The other day I was taking pics off a Canon camera, & they automatically loaded into that site. I selected cancel several times, but the program did not respond. Once they completely loaded in, the program asked if I wanted to erase photos from the camera, I selected no but it started erasing them, I was able to stop it but 44 were erased off the camera. I can see the photos in the program but can not access them since I never registered. I tried to register now but received email saying that program has expired. So how do I get my photos? Please help! The photos are not mine, I was loading them from a friends camera, & they are important vacation memories to her! Thanks! Ruth

When you click on one of the thumbnails do you see a blank window where the full sized image? Or do you see this in the window:
In either case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

Open a new Finder window, Finder > File > New Finder Window, and it should appear on the left under Devices.
If you don't see it there, or to get it to show up on the Desktop: Finder > Preferences... General tab, check External disks to have it show on the Desktop, Or Sidebar tab, check External disks under DEVICES.

Trouble accessing files on external USB drive after 10.6.8 update

Upgraded to Mac 10.6.8 on my MacBook Pro (I'm not a techie, but the "About This Mac" thingy says 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 - I assume that means something to somebody). Since the upgrade, I've been having problems accessing data on an external HD connected via USB - there were no issues before the upgrade, but now it's impossible to even navigate to a particular file or subfolder half the time, as the process freezes 95% of the time (every so often I am able to get through, for no obvious reason) - usually I just get what looks like an empty folder and a little spinning thing in the bottom right-hand corner. Sometimes when I do get to a file - say it's a ZIP file - I'll try to unZIP it and the process will hang; if I try to drag it to the desktop and unZIP it there, I can't get it to copy to the desktop, I just get the "copying files" box and a bar that never shows any progress, it just hangs at zero bytes out of whatever it might be.
Also having intermittent issues with another external USB drive, which is the one I use for Time Machine - about one in every five backup attempts is successful, the rest of the time I get a message saying the backup couldn't be performed.
I have two external FireWire drives as well, and I'm having no trouble with either of those - so I'm assuming the problem is USB-related (and 10.6.8 related, since none of this was happening before the upgrade).
So - I'm wondering if anybody else is having the same issues, and f there's a solution that a non-techie like me could handle that won't make blood come out of my ears.

Thanks baltwo - the PRAM tip was helpful. For some reason I still have trouble accessing a few files, I'm putting that down to them being somehow corrupted. Eric, thanks, but I tried using Disk Utility and the communication problems I was having with the drive meant that the repair couldn't be performed. I may try again now that that side of things seems to be running a little more smoothly. Anyway, thank you both!

Trouble Accessing Virtual Machine After Time Machine Migration

I am hoping that someone else has run up against this problem and is able to help.
I recently purchased a new iMac. I upgraded to 8 GB of ram specifically because I have VMware Fusion and want to use it on my new machine.
I chose to migrate my entire old iMac to the new machine using my Time Machine backup.
VMware appears to have migrated successfully. I do not have any trouble accessing the application, but when I try to resume my only virtual machine, which is for Windows XP I get the following message:
VMware Fusion cannont connect to the virtual machine. Make sure you have rights to run the program and to access all directories it used and rights to access all directories for temporary files.
How do I resolve this problem?
Thanks in advance to anyone who is able to offer me a clue on how to overcome this.
If I can't access this machine it appears as if I will be able to create a new one. I would like to avoid having to do that if it is possible.

In that folder there is a virtual machine. It is called Windows XP Professional. So it is there. When I am in VMware Fusion I can see Windows Media Player, which is what I was probably accessing the last time I was in the machine, so it does appear to have backed up the virtual machine. I would expect it to because it is a part of a Mac application, VMware Fusion.
It appears to be an issue with permissions that I don't know how to solve.
I know there is a VMware forum, but I can't even figure out how to sign up for it the darned thing is so confusing. I can't seem to post to it no matter what I do.

Accessing Documentum Content thru KM in portal

I am trying to connect to Documentum content thru KM in portal. I am looking for a better approach to do the same.

As per the above two links i understand that documentum content can be accessed by Portal iViews. But not sure from where i can find those iViews? and also not sure whether it can be accessed with Windows file share service?
Could anybody suggest me which approcah is better ? Either thru portal iViews or thru KM repositories?
1. Could anybody guide me what SAP Portal iViews can be used to access Documentum Content?
2. With either the File system repository manager or WEBDAV Repository manager can we access the the documents directly from the Document file share of Documentum?

I agree that it is worth to try a file system repository on this Documentum File Share.
However I have some concerns about the performance of this kind of integration.
I would expect that the Documentum File Share is allready a software tier wrapping the
core documentum api.
In addition a file system repository has some disadvantages if you are planning to change the repository content both in KM and in the origin (documentum) system.
If you do that, the KM file system repository has to synchronize itself again and again.
The repository (and sometimes the whole portal) may slow down dramatically.
So give it a try but consider to either buy the documentum repository manager or write your own.

How to access Infocube content using an ABAP program

   I am trying to access infocube contents using a ABAP program in BW.
   It is easy to access ODS content as we have NEW DATA or ACTIVE DATA
   tables. Is there any way we can access Infocube content.
   I tried using the FACT table but it has only Keyfigure data.

Hi,
I would suggest to use a transactionnal cube, even if you do not use BPS to feed it.
Then, you create a layout in transaction BPS0 (~ similar to a query), and you can access the cube content by simply using the SAP function <b>API_SEMBPS_GETDATA</b>.
This is easy and fast.

Having trouble accessing photos

Ever since updating my 4s to the ios7, I am having trouble accessing my photos when using apps such as Facebook, text messaging, and Google hangouts. It says that the app cannot access my photos and to change my setting in privacy settings. When I go to the privacy settings and click on photos I get a message saying that if an app wants to access my photos it will be listed and I can change the setting, however none of the apps are ever listed. How do I change my setting so I can upload pictures that I have already taken on my phone?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
This is not necessarily a permissions issue, but could also be a corrupt library.
To repair permissions in the iPhoto Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. You'll see the option to check and repair Library permissions.
If that doesn't help, what version of iphoto do you have? Assuming 09 or later...

Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
