Trouble accessing legacy instruments in the Library in Logic 10

If you just installed Logic 10 It's a simple bug to work around.
First do it the hard way...
In the inspector (left column) click on the instrument for your selected Instrument track.
In the popup hover the mouse over Legacy and navigate to any instrument.
You will then see the Library restore the links to the Legacy Instruments which should be a "permanent" fix from now on.

Thanks for your reply. Maybe its not applicable to me. On dont have Logic Pro 9, I only have the new version Logic Pro X. I was guessing that the Legacy stuff came with Logic 10 as normal.. because I saw mention of it in the Preferences.
To clarify from my side, I have gone through the process of Logic 'Preferences'(Advanced Tools) then I have ticked the Advanced Editing to enable it.
I have also clicked the ‘Download additional Content’ and downloaded all possible additional content I believe (as all boxes are ticked with the Status as ‘installed’ – this includes the Legacy and Compatibility option at the bottom (it shows 10.7 gb download now installed).
But I still can’t see the Legacy presets in the Logic Pro 10 ES1 synth?
Not sure if I have missed something?

Concurrent sessions accessing parsed sql from the library cache

Hi there,
I am having five concurrent session firing exactly same SQL statement inside a stored procedure.
Stored Procedure
PROC1(a int)
begin
select <C1>,<C2> into <V1>,<V2> from <T1>, <T2> where <JOIN between both table> and T1.<C3>=a;
end;
All those five sessions are calling the procedure PROC1 which subsequently executes the sql statement.
Execution time of sql statement is 2 seconds.
I ma wondering whether all other sessions will wait for the currently executing session to release the latch on parsed sql(getting stored in the library cache)? (In this case last session will wait for 8 seconds) Or would they execute in parallel with their own copy of parsed sql?
Please help!!!

Would it be like that the first session will hard parse the SQL statement and all other concurrent sessions will have a "softer" soft parse and take a copy of query plan and execute the statement without waiting for each otherYes, I think this is the way it works according to official Oracle documentation
(and why there is a shared pool).:

Organizing the Library in Logic 8

Hello -
1 - I have just put some new EXS instruments into:
user/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments
And they are there when I open the EXS24 itself, but is there a way to make them show up in the Media Library, where all the factory instruments are listed? Ideally, I would like a series of new folders underneath 'Jam Pack World Music', and the option to put some of the new instruments into exisitng 'factory' folders - for example, I have a new EP sound that I would like to appear in the 04 Keyboards > 01 Electric Pianos folder. Am I putting them in the wrong folders in the first place?
2 - What is the difference - if any - between USER/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments and MACINTOSH HD/library/application support/logic/sampler instruments?
3 - Where do I put sample-based instruments? I have a couple of sampled guitars, which are a series of .wav files, and can't work out how to get them into Logic at all...

It shows the selected track's channel, and the channel that it feeds to.

Error message when try to access instruments in the library

do you mean it can't find the instrument/file, or it's just an annoying message? The message you're getting is probably because the file has either :
a) been moved from it's original location
b) does't exist anymore
If you open up the media section (top right hand corner) then opn the bin tab, you should see all files involved (past and present) listed. it is possible to delete stuff from here, but is that really necesary?

I can't figure out how to import my native instruments into the library

I'm trying to use Komplete 8 as a plug-in and I can't figure out how to put it in to library.

Load the plugin into the insert, select your patch and then select "save as" from the channel strip menu.

Trouble playing old songs in the library

I can shuffle the songs I added recently but shuffle never plays the old songs. When I click on a song it plays fine and then jumps to a new song. If I turn off shuffle and go back to an old song, it plays one song and stops. It does not continue playing whatever is next in the list. It has been doing this for a while and updating to 7.3 (and now to 7.4) did not help. Any ideas?
ps: I don't know if that matters but it is not the most recent xxx number of songs that I can shuffle. It is songs uploaded before point A vs those uploaded after that point.

Make sure that the mentioned playlist is sorted by number: Click on top of the very left column, then drag your files into the desired position.

How can i extend the library of software instruments in logic?

I am working with logic express 8 and would like to assign software instruments such as clarinet and celli to the midi-files of my keyboard. Yesterday I couldn't find woodwind instruments in the library of logic so I started to download mainstage 2 - which seemed to extend the library of logic. But unfortunately some software instruments (for example cello...) disappeared and instead of extending my library in logic mainstage made it smaller... Can anybody help? And can someone tell my where do I get a clarinet and a cello? Thanks for your answers!

Logic X - Exs24 missing "legacy instruments" folder

HI,
I'm missing the Legacy Instruments folder in my EXS24. It's not in the sampler, and it's not in the file system (/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments). There _should_ be a folder there called "12 Legacy Instruments", but it doesn't exist.
I've found a few other threads on this and tried:
repairing permissions.
REindexing Spotlight
re-downloading Legacy and Compatibility from Download Additional Content
Suggestions please?

OK, I figured out that this Legacy content is on the Logic 9 install disks. Here's how I solved it. I used Pacifist, which was mentioned in some other threads, but not really explained. I was also unsure whether this was a Logic 9 legacy issue, or something from way back in Logic 7 or 8. Hopefully this will help someone....
1. Download and install Pacifist from Charlessoft
2. Get all your Logic 9 disks ready, and open the Logic Studio Install disk in Pacifist. (You will need to insert all the Logic disks to open the complete package.)
3. in Pacifist, search "legacy". In mine, this gave 5 results: Legacy Bass Guitar, 10 Legacy Instruments, 04 Logic Legacy Kits, 12 Legacy Instruments, and 06 Legacy Spaces. The Pacifist browser window shows the file path.
4. In the Pacifist browser, right-click (or control-click) on the folder, and choose "Extract to Custom Location...", and extract to the corresponding location on your hard drive:
/Library/Application Support/Logic/Channel Strip Settings/Track/04 Bass Guitar/Legacy Bass Guitar/
/Library/Application Support/Logic/EXS Factory Samples/10 Legacy Instruments/
/Library/Application Support/Logic/Plug-In Settings/Ultrabeat/04 Logic Legacy Kits/
/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments/12 Legacy Instruments/
/Library/Audio/Impulse Responses/Apple/06 Legacy Spaces
That should be all you need to add the Legacy content, without doing a full install. They are all just presets, except the EXS stuff, which is presets and samples — so if you want that you need to add both the EXS Factory Samples/10 Legacy Instruments AND the Sampler Instruments/12 Legacy Instruments. Otherwise they can be added modularly.

How to I add instruments to my library?

I am writing a marching percussion show for a friend of mine and there is no single percussion instruments, such as just snare or quads to use. I would like to use Logic X instead of buying a music notation software but I can't seem to find how to add instruments into the Library. Can someone help me on how to do this and what instruments are compatable. Thanks.

Why does L8 not distinguish between sample instruments of the same name????

I just installed Logic 8. My problem is, that I have a good deal of other EXS24 instruments with generic names, such as "Mark II", or "Vibraphone". That shouldn't actually be a problem, but it is with Logic 8 because every time I open one of my existing projects, it replaces one of those sample instruments with one of its new (or even one of its Legacy) instruments if it bears the same name. That stinks. Can't it figure out which sample it originally was with? It is a real pain in the bum having to reopen the original sample, and than match every single parameter to the original setting, manually, one by one. This whole thing wouldn't be so bad if you could just copy the parameter settings WITHOUT including the actual selected sample. Than I could just paste the intended parameter settings back onto the intended sample (that just so happens to bear the same name as one of Logic's factory sample instruments). I didnt have this problem with Logic 7. What gives? Is there a way around this? It is getting old going through all my projects to fix this. Thanks!

Try doing it the other way around: put your legacy instruments in the main folder, after you've removed the new ones with the same names - including their samples folders.
