Trouble activating Multisim component evaluator Analog Devices Edition Version

I downloaded Multisim component evaluator Analog Devices Edition Version
13.0.. I’m having the same problem that I had last time I downloaded something
from NI. (Unactivated license). I think this is because of the tight security
where I work. The solution last time (after a lot of time and back and forth
emailing was to send me the activation code and I typed it in manually. (I
pasted that email below).

Hello, in the Multisim Analog Devices Evaluation Edition, you will find a D_Latch under the TIL family of parts (use 2 with EN tied together for a dual latch) that you can use for generic simulation purposes. If you need a specific latch from a manufacturer or specific logic family that might be challenging (we have a few in the PRO version or you can add some external circuitry to the TIL part to mimic the behavior of a particular logic family).
The TIL parts (generic digital I/O) are located here: Misc Digital (group) -> TIL -> D_LATCH.
I created a simple interactive circuit with a probe so you can observe the behavior to see if it will meet your simulation needs.

Analog Devices Edition: Current feedback amplifier models not working

Hi, I'm using the Analog Devices version of Multisim and have problems simulating their current feedback amplifers. For example, I want to use the AD8000 as an inverting transimpedance amplifier, basically run a current into the inverting input, ground the non-inverting input, and chose the feedback resistor to be the transimpedance. I want to make sure that I can use feedback resistors between 100 and 2000 Ohms to convert negative current pulses to positive voltage pulses, but I can't get anything to work, even with the recommended feedback resistor values. With a current input I get negative rail saturation, while with a voltage input I get a step output.

Hi there,
I think I figured out why your circuit isn't working. It has to do with the treatment of the dedicated feedback output pin that exists on your amplifier. While this pin and the main output pin both exist on the physical package and are electrically connected, this isn't the case in Multisim. The feedback pin in Multisim exists on the schematic only, it doesn't actually have any simulation functionality. So, as a workaround, I suggest that you connect the feedback path to the output pin instead of the dedicated feedback pin. You would never do this in real life, but for simulation, it will work fine.

I saw the file named "MSCOMP_S.prd" in the folder:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Multisim Analog Devices Edition 10.0\database

The databases between the two products are not compatible and therefore cannot be merged. This database was created specifically for the Analog Devices Edition. Merging two "Master" databases is also not possible since the merge utility will only allow merging two "User" or "Corporate" databases.

I have MSim-Analog Device edition only. Can someone database merge, or if you already have it, try to extract a SPICE netlist and post for the ADM4073? I've attached the .prz file from Analog Devices.

How do I add Analog Devices symbols and footprints to component database?

Hi,
Analog Devices conveniently has a library of their component symbols and footprints for Ultiboard and Multisim. How can I add these to the library?
Is it a drag and drop thing? If so what is the folder location?
If I go thru the available database interface it doesn't allow for selecting footprints outside of the existing library and adding them.
In ultiboard I can open the footprints, but 'save to database' is not an option available.

I am not sure which file you downloaded, but I downloaded the Ultiboard Zip file (the small 3KB one). Each footprint is an individual footprint and apparently must be added manually to the database in Ultiboard.
How to do this? In Ultiboard, Extact them to a location on your drive and double click the footprint and it will load onto the screen like a normal board would. Now you have to goto DATABASE>DATABASE MANAGER. Once there you right click on USER DATABASE and add a family like say TRANSITORS. Then highlight your new family by clicking on it. Then goto the very top of the and you will see a little yellow "+" . click that and it will give you the option to add a new part from the current design to the user database. That is all you need. The footprint will be in the user database.
The next step is to assign it to the component in Multisim and you will have to refer to a turtorial on the NI Site in order to do this. I will post a link to it once I find it.
I do not know about the other file. Most of the time there are .PRZ files that the only thing you have to do is to go into the database manager of Multisim and select the user database. This will give you the option to do an import. If your files are a .PRZ file then you will be able to import using this option.

How to Add Analog Devices Components to MultiSim v.9

I was wondering if it is possible to add the new Analog Devices component libraries to MultiSim Version 9.1.221 by a drag and drop in windows, or possibly through an import function in MultiSim.
If one were to download the MultiSim Analog Devices version 10.x and already have a licensed professional version of MultiSim 9.1.221 is this possible?

It is not possible to import components from a higher version of Multisim into a lower one. You can import older databases into newer version. Take a look at the tutorial below:

You may also want to reset your network settings:
Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Note: this will delete any network related settings (saved Wi-Fi passwords, etc), it will not erase any content from your device.

When installing Analog Devices Multisim: invalid win32 application

I'm trying to install Analog Devices' version of Multisim, however when I do it instantly responds with a "is not a valid win32 application" error message. Any ideas on how to fix?

I haven't heard of this error before, so some extra information would be helpful.
What version of Windows XP are you running? Do you have Service Pack 2 or Service Pack 3?
When is this error happening? Is this happening when you run the installer or when you run Multisim?
Last, when this type of error occurs, Windows usually logs some additional information about the error that can be helpful in diagnosing the problem.
1. Open the Control Panel
2. Double click on Administrative Tools. Then double click on Event Viewer.
3. On the left, there are several items. Look select these and look for any Errors at the same Date and Time you tried to start the program (there will be a lot of unrelated items but they are in order with the most recent at the top). For each Error that has the same Date and Time
Double click on the item.
Copy and paste the Description into your reply.

I am having trouble activating the icloud on a friend's device. When I go to settings, it tells me it cannot verify the email even though the Apple ID and password are correct... Help!

Try signing out of the ID, restart the iPad, sign in again and then try again.
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Apple ID>Tap the ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.

Active dektop Component

My applet is running fine in a browser window, but on setting it as active web component (in fact the html page containing the applet is set as active web component) on Win XP desktop it displays nothing more than a grey area. do we need some additional code here?

I will here explain in details all I have done to bypass the problem of displaying my java 1.5 applet on the active desktop of windows XP (pro sp2)
I was originally guessing the problem was due to some bad version of the JVM in the microsoft VM. I have then read some articles on Microsoft official website but in vain, they seems to be still in dark-age (huh !)...
I am now using JBuilderX ( JBuilder2005 looks like to me and my little java-level an odd update ) and as my applet uses packages and lot of directories, I wanted not to use "javac -target (...)" but instead find some options in Jbuilder. The only things was to change the JDK in use when compiling of the project... ( TOOLS >ConfigureJDKs... )
I have then prey the time to install JDK1.1 on my machine, and then, with new compilation, I have tried again to put my applet in Active directory.
READ THIS BEFORE : It does not work at all, please don't do or you will have to uninstall olds JDK !!!
Okay, no-matter, let's try something else : Compiling with the default-JDK of JBuilderX ( JDK1.4.02 ) and, with the "HTMLconverter.exe" found in the subdirectory "BIN" of this same JDK, converting my HTML file gave me some results : Now, adding my web-page in windows display-properties ( Desktop > Tunning... ) -AND NOT directly in choosing my HTML as background- was nearly working :
The grey rectangle was now away, and my applet was now displaying... but not refreshing !!! Well, my applet shows an analogic clock, and the refresh was done every five seconds instead of being done every seconds !
Well, before doing anything else (modifcate my code, etc... ), I wanted to retry the same thing with the last new JDK1.5.01...
And : COOL guys, it is now working like never before; the refresh is well done.
Some details about what I have done exactly :
I have installed new JDK ( Be careful : When it is upadting to JDK1.5.04, sometimes the directory JDK disapears : No, I am not joking ! I have had to re-install JDK 1.5.01 after updating to 1.5.04 because I was then only finding JRE and no more JDK (?!?!?!?) )
In the directory "BIN" of the JDK1.5.01 ( perhaps also for 1.5.04 with some luck... ) you will find "HTMLconverter.exe". Execute it, give it the path of your HTML-page and apply.
If you are using JBuilder or others programs ( Eclipse, etc... ) find the option to compile with new JDK1.5.01, and then re-compile your applet... If not, be sure to use JVM1.5 to recompile ! ( Read more on %PATH windows if you need )
Then finally, go to the properties-display ( see upper ) to (re-)apply your web-page to active-desktop. It should be nice.
Only to understand what has been done by HTMLconverter.exe, here are the old HTML code, and the nex HTML code :

Last thing I have to write : If my applet now displays fine when I choose "Tunning" in the "Display-properties>desktop" options , it is doing errors when I try to use my web-page directly as the background.
It does not this with page using FLASH or SVG, then it comes from JAVA and msVM again ! Someone has an idea ?

VISA read raw data from USB board Analog Devices ADISUSBZ

I am trying to use VISA to read the raw data from a USB dev board (Analog Devices ADISUSBZ). but always get below errors
"BFFF003A Unable to start operation because setup is invalid."
what I did.
1) uninstalled and deleted the origanl USB driver for ADISUSBZ
2) plugin ADISUSBZ USB Dev board, windows see a unknow device, using VISA Driver Wizard to create a USB driver inf file for ADISUSBZ
3) installed the new driver which VISA Driver Wizard created, restarted computer, ADISUSBZ is identified and loaded with VISA USB driver. also showing "This device is working properly."
4) Run Measurement & Automation Explorer, in the Devices and Interfaces list, I can see that USB device which is the ADISUSBZ. but the name is
Unkown USB0::0x0456::0xEF02::NI-VISA-40002::RAW (the VID PID tell me, it is the ADISUSBZ USB Dev board)
5) Open VISA Test panel -> View All Settable Attributes, I got below data, where VI_ATTR_USB_BULK_IN_STATUS = -1 (not active???)

What software are you using NI VISA with is it just
Measurement and automation explorer ?
Which version of NI VISA are you using?
Which operating system are you using?
In measurement and automation explorer is there a
yellow question mark against the device?
I would advise reading the likes below if you have
not already creating the VISA driver again checking the manufacture ID and
model code if these options are available to you.

Using USB-8451, and AD7747 from Analog Devices to measure capacitance and convert the capacitance to digital output

Hello,
I am new to LabView and data aqusition. I have LabView 8.5.1 installed on my laptop, and I studied the Getting Started document of LabView, except the data aqusition chapter.
I have microfabricated a differential capacitive sensor, and now I want to test the capabilities of my sensor.
After asking NI engineers, I have been suggested to use USB-8451 with AD7747 (24-Bit Capacitance-to-Digital Converter) from Analog Devices because AD7747 has I2C serial interface.
I have ordered USB-8451, AD7747, and Evaluation Board for AD7747. And I am waiting for them.
Are there any suggestions about how to connect my differential capacitive sensor to AD7747, and eventually to USB-8451?
You may want to know some further information to answer my question:
*The sensor is similar to the sensor on pages 501, 514, and 515 of "Microsystem Design" book from author Stephen D. Senturia.
*The datasheet for AD7747 can be reached from this link: http://www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/AD7747.pdf
*My purpose is to make a very precise and accurate "displacement measurement micodevice" by using "the change in the capacitance" during the motion of the mobile fingers of the sensor.
As an initial challenge for myself, I will feel satisfied if I can measure the capacitance change in my sensor when I apply an external mechanical disturbance to my sensor. For example, there must be a change in capacitance if I just swing my hand from top of the sensor region.

Trouble with downloading purchased music between devices

I recently purchased an album on my ipad, but am now unable to see it on either my macbook pro itunes or mac mini itunes, and in the itunes under store>purchased they only show items purchased on that individual computer. I have activated the setting to show items from cloud, but it only seems to work for TV shows or Movies, it doesn't give me access to my purchased music content, unless that music was purchased originally on that device. And since the album was purchased on the ipad, it doesn't seem to be accesible anywhere unless I go through the actual iTunes Store and go to Purchased under the Manage list.
All the devices are using a single Apple ID and both Macbook Pro and Mac Mini are using iTunes 11.0.4.
Just wondering if anyone else has had trouble accessing music content universally across devices, or have I missed a step in the process to get this universal access working?

Report Cost of Operation Activity and Component

Hi Gurus,
Is there report to list cost of Operation Activity and Component in the same report (not in separate) ?
In our environment "operation activity" show Labor Cost and "Component" show material cost. If one by one of document we can see it in each document. The requirement is to see in a list of documents that contain labor dan material cost in the same report.
When use IW49N, only show cost of "operation activity" not include cost of material used.
