Trouble adding HP 7960 photosmart printer to my laptop via wireless server

I have a desktop PC that I have connected to a Netgear FWP114P wireless firewall print server, documents print fine from my desktop to my HP photosmart 7960 printer. I am trying to connect my Dell inspiron laptop to the print server and not succeeding.
My Dell laptop works fine for internet access via the Netgear print server.
What I tried:  I put the HP photosmart 7960  disc into the dell laptop and downloaded the printer software. I did not see a choice on the printer software to select that I was connecting to the printer wirelessly. I only had the choice to hardwire the laptop to the printer which I chose not to do during the installation process.
All the software for photo management did download to my laptop but the software for the printer did not download because I chose not to hardwire the laptop to the printer.
Any suggestions about what I can do to connect my laptop wirelessly to my printer would be greatly appreciated.
 thanks, Kathy

Is there software for the Netgear server that you could load onto it?

  • Printing from pc laptop over wireless network

    Hi,
I have been successful getting my mac to see my wife's xp pro laptop and the laptop sees the mac. I installed the canon i960 driver on the laptop but can't get it to print.
If I open the i960 q on the mac and send a file from the laptop nothing happens. If i send a file from the mac it shows up. Withe the q on hold and the mac file showing I send a file from the laptop and it shows in the q. If i resume printing the mac file will print but the laptop file just disappears.
If there is nothing in the q on the mac side the laptop file will not show up. when it does show up along with the mac file it does not print.
I can see the q on the lap top as on the the mac. I also get a general message that the laptop cannot communicate with the printer
    Driver problem?
    baffles me.
    thanks

Have a look at this guide if you are running 10.4
Printing to a printer on a Mac running 10.4.x from a Windows PC using Bonjour for Windows

    otherwise

    Important note:
If the printer attached to the Mac is a black and white printer you need to use the Apple Laserwriter driver regardless of which printer you actually have.
So if you have a black and white laser printer, you should use the Apple Laserwriter driver.
If the printer attached is a colour printer use the Apple Color Laserwriter driver regardless of which printer you actually have.
So if you have a colour inkjet printer, you should use the Apple Color Laserwriter driver.

  • Epson 635 printer won't install via wireless with Mountain Lion

I am helping a friend with the upgrade to Mountain Lion and She has a giant desktop which I think is a MacPro but I'm not sure. Anyway everything works fine except now her Epson 635 printer won't see the wireless network. To me this seems like a router problem but all other computers see the network via the router. Also, this only happened with this upgrade. We've uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, drivers, etc and still no go. Forgive me if my lingo is off but I am a tad new to Mac.  Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

Here's a "Print 101" guide for Mac computers:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4670
I believe that you're talking about an Epson WorkForce 635, which I'm quite sure Apple supports because they support the WorkForce 630 [series].
So try removing the printer from the MacBook and re-installing it per the guide.
P.S.: I'm running a WorkForce 645 printer just fine from Mountain Lion.

  • Connecting network Printer to laptops via wireless

My daughter received a new Toshiba laptop for Christmas to help with her school work and I have been working to get it setup. I have nearly everything working fine including a network connection for internet through my network router, but I am having difficulty  with connecting the laptop to my network printer. I have a Belkin F7D3302 v1 wireless router that serves as my network router and this Belkin router is connected via an ethernet cable to my desktop and the router is also connected wirelessly to my Alienware laptop (both run Windows 7) - I have full connectivity with both of these computers and no printing issues - I also have an older Sont Vaio laptop that runs Windows XP SP3 - it is also connected wirelessly to the network and I can print from this computer without any problem. I went into my daughter's computer to install the printer and although it found the printer the TEST PAGE would not print and the computer shows the printer as being offline. I did do a look at the Network Config on the printer and it shows the IP address as all zeros which I found odd, but my Alienware and Sony are conected so I should be able to get my daughters laptop to connect. Any help would be appreciated to get my daughters laptop connected to the printer

I have rebooted the laptop multiple times while using HP Scan and Print doctor, but to no avail. I am baffled largely because the ISP service connected between the Belkin router and the laptop without any difficulties and although when I click on Add Printer it shows the network printer it shows the status as offline continuously - when i try to start the HP software direct on the laptop (I installed the original HP software to the laptop) it says it cannot start because the printer has not finished installing. I am guessing it is either a Win 8.1 issue of some sort.

  • Cannot print to printer on ethernet lan via wireless router

    Hi,
Apple Macbook connected via Airport running class A network 10.0.0.X, which is connected to a Netgear 4 port router running class C network 192.168.0.X. Also on this class C network is a LAN network printer and a Windows PC. The Netgear router is connected to the internet and the Apple Macbook can connect to the internet and can ping the printer connected to the Netgear router, but when it sends a print job to this printer, the response is "Printer is busy. Will Retry in 30 seconds"
The windows PC can print to the network printer (both connected to the same netgear router) just fine.
    the Macbook is running 10.4.11.
Please help.. and thanks in advance!

  • Laptop printing via wireless to HP Laserjet M1217nfw without a wireless router.

I want to print from a laptop via wireless to a HP Laserjet M1217nfw.
The location means that there is no wireless router involved.
The manual suggests that there are two possible methods if no wireless router is available.
The first one is an ad-hoc or peer-to-peer network as described on page 9 and 10 of the supplied User Guide.
I appreciate that one laptop does not make a network so I configured two laptops to connect over an ad-hoc network with all security turned off to make things as simple as possible.
Both laptops have APIPA addresses and are connected.
I then tried installing the printer via USB and also via CD and the printer cannot detect the ad-hoc network.
In the configuration page the Communication Mode is set to Infrastructure and cannot be changed.
Also there is the issue of how the printer can get an IP address as it does not seem possible to provide one for the wireless manually.
I am starting to wonder if the manual in incorrect and the ad-hoc connectivity is not available.
The second option might be to use the Direct Print Configuration although this is more for smartphones I believe. I have briefly tried this method but the supplied driver from the CD cannot detect the printer. Perhaps a special driver is needed.
Having spent a considerable time on this I am beginning to wonder should I give up and send the printer back or is it actually possible to get this to work in the manner that I need.
    Thanks for any help.

Do you have the ad-hoc network hosted by one of the computers?  It sounds like you are trying to add the printer to an ad-hoc network.
Newer printers (not certain when this changed) do not support the printer connecting to a hosted ad-hoc network on a computer.  Sorry.
However, the computers should be able to connect to the printer's ad-hoc network for printing purposes.  On the computers, there should be a network SSID that has HP in the name (possibly print, printer model, or setup).  If you connect to this network, the printer should be able to be added to the computers.  However, the computers may not communicate with each other as the printer isn't really intended to connect multiple devices to each other.
You mentioned page 9 and 10 of the manual.  I reviewed page 9 and 10 of the manual and it did not mention anything about any network settings.  This came much later in the manual I had found for the M1217nfw.  Is the manual I linked the same manual you have?

  • P Help - Laptop can't print via wireless net to 7780 all in one office jet.

Please help - I can not print from new laptop via wireless network to my existing HP 7780 Office jet Pro all in one printer. I am running windows 7 32-bit operating sys.  HP diagnostics software indicates all is good. Print job gets stuck in queue.

    1. Make sure the printer is turned on and connected to your network. Verify that you can access the printer's internal web page by browsing to its IP address before continuing.
    2. Click >> Start >> Control panel >> Printers.
    3. Click the Add a printer
    4. Select Local printer
    5. Select Create a new port and select Standard TCP/IP Port and click Next button.
    6. Under Device type, select TCP/IP Device. Under Hostname or IP address, enter the printer's IP address. Click Next.
    7. Select Hewlett-Packard from the list of manufacturers and select and select your printer model. Click Next.
If your printer model was not listed, then select Have Disk, browse the HP CD that came with your printer and select the first file that starts with hp and ends with inf. Click Open then OK. Select your printer model. Click Next.
    8. If you are asked, use the currently installed driver.
    9. It will ask for the Printer name -- enter a new name or use the existing one. This will be the name of the printer that you select from other applications.
    10. You may be asked to share the printer. Choose NO.
    11. The Print Test Page box appears. Go ahead and print it.
    12. Click Finish.

  • Trouble adding printer to HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app - can't find printer's email address

I'm trying to connect my HP Photosmart c6380 to my iPhone. I already downloaded the app and my printer is connected to my wireless network, as is my iPhone, but I can't add my printer to the app.
When I go to "Manage ePrinters" and try to add a printer with the + button I see 3 choices:
Add ePrinter from list: "No ePrinters available"
Add Manually: I can't find the printer's email address even using the instructions found at the ePrint center.
Add from WiFi Network: My printer isn't shown in this list so it does not support auto discovery.
So I'm guessing that if I could just find my printer's email address that would connect it to my iPhone for wireless printing, but I can't for the life of me find it.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.
    This question was solved.

    Hello amybett,
I have bad news and good news. The bad news is that your printer is not Airprint/ePrint capable. However, the good news is that with the HP ePrint Home and Biz iPhone app it does not need to be Airprint/Eprint capable, as long as it is connected to the same network as your phone.
Here are the steps you will want to take to print something:
    1. Setup the app by completing the email registration and entering the code (which I believe you have).
    2. Select the item you wish to print using the menu in the app (Photo Albums, Saved Files, Web Browser, etc.).
    3. Once you select the item you should see the item and a large "Print" button under it.
    4. If the printer you want to print to is not listed above the "Print" button, select the icon on the right (wrench/computer) and select the printer you wish to use (along with other settings).
    5. Tap on the "Back" button in the top left corner, then tap "Done" (blue button in the top right corner), and then tap the "Print" button to print your item.

How do I get my HP Photosmart 7960 to print the page numbers when printing a multi-page project?

    Hi,
This has most likely nothing to do with the printer but with the program you are using to print. For example Word has a setting for this, so let me know which program and I might be able to check for you.

    Hi Jerry,

  • Trouble Adding a Printer Wirelessly

I've recently purchased my first Macbook Pro. I had no issues installing my Epson NX230 Printer/Scanner the first time. My printer was already connected to my network and my Mac found it (through bonjour) and I was able to print. This worked fine until I had to unplug my printer to move it. The printer was still showing as connected to the network, but my computer wasn't recognizing the connection unless I connected to the printer via USB.
I struggled with this problem for days. I uninstalled the printer, re-downloaded the epson drivers and tried to install again since it was so easy the first time. This time it would not recognize the printer. In the "add printer" dialouge nothing shows up. I was constantly updating and uninstalling and reinstalling and then all of the sudden one day it worked (and I have no idea what I did).
Now, a few weeks later, I'm having the same issue. The power went out and now my computer can't find my printer, even though my printer is connected to the network. Once again I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling with no luck. When I get to the "add printer" dialouge nothing is showing up. I'm really frustrated because it worked the first time, so I KNOW my printer and my Mac are wirelessly compatible. Please help! Thanks in advance.

I am having the same problem with an Epson Stylus CX7800. I was on the phone with Apple Care for about 1 hour trying everything and nothing has worked. They told me to call Epson, so now I know that won't help! I've downloaded drivers, deleted everything, and re-loaded, and still no printer on the list. Right now I am still without a printer so if someone can tell me how to get this to work it would be wonderful. By the way, the scanner works (Epson 7800 is an all-in-one). Weird.

  • Photosmart printer -all-in-one 5520 and windows 8.1 - INSTALLATION ERROR

I have a photosmart printer - model: all-in-one 5520; code number HPC57CC4  and my operating system is windows 8.1.
I had problems with the scan function and so I decided to disinstal the printer (from the Control Panel) and I even cancelled  the HP folders.
Then I tried to reinstal the printer with the original CD but I got the message: INSTALLATION ERROR - DRIVER PACKAGE INSTALL GIVES THE ERROR -536870329 FOR THE PACKAGE  C:\Program Files\HP\HP Photosmart 5520 series\DriverStore\Pipeline\hpvpl09.inf   (that's the translation from Italian)
I have tried endless times to install with the online software from the HP assistance (hppsdr.exe, hppiw.exe, ps5520_1315-1.exe, hpscan and doctor) but I always get the above error message, the system recognizes my printer, but gives the error message few seconds after starting installing it.
If i use the printer from other PCs it's ok, I've also tried both in the wireless modality and with the USB cable but the result is the same: no installation!
thanks in advance fot your help.
