Trouble Burning my playlist to a DVD

I want to creat a back up disk of all my music. I have followed all the procedures correctly, but am having difficulty burning the playlist onto the blank DVD+R. I keep getting an error message 2135???? Am I using incorrect discs?

b noir,
I could not find how this issue was resolved. I have the same problem. I have a Compaq Presario 2500 running Windows XP Professional. Here are the diagnostic results. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

  • After installing the latest version of Itunes, I am having trouble burning a playlist to CD.  CD burner stops and cancels burn giving me an unknown error.

After I installed the latest ITunes update, I am unable to burn a playlist to a CD.  It stops shortly after it starts to burn and gives me an error message but no explanation.

Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here. (Use your Ctrl-V keyboard shortcut to paste.)

  • Burning iTunes playlists onto a DVD

I want to burn playlists from iTunes onto a DVD, primarily for backup purposes. But also, to give get them into another...PC...computer.
    I have iDVD 5, running Panther (10.3.9)
I was told I could do this and it would work basically the same was as burning to a CD. Just “dragging” a playlist or playlists onto the DVD.
However, when I went to iDVD help menu, it said:
+You can also drag music files from the Finder to the menu or to the Audio well in the Settings pane, *but you can't drag playlists directly from the iTunes application.+*
    What’s the story?
    Thanks in advance

    Ok, but
I was told you could use DVDs to backup virtually anything on your computer. Documents, photos and music.
iDVD would seem to be one thing....but a DVD quite another. So I think I'm starting to "get it."
For what I want to do, I would simply "drag" a playlist out of iTunes, onto the desktop, and from there drag said playlist onto the DVD. And I would have it. The tunes would then be able to be used as "backups" or to "play" on a DVD player, or to copy onto another computer...Mac or PC.
Actually, for my purposes, wouldn't I simply drag the playlist "from" iTunes onto the DVD? And skip the going to desktop process?
    Am I right on this?
    thanks again

  • Having trouble burning my iPhone videos to DVD

I have a bunch of videos that I have taken wih my iPhone 4S.  I put them on my hp laptop and they play just fine when you want to watch them on the computer.  When I tried to burn them to a DVD to play on my TV, the DVD player said NO Data.  When I tried to play the DVD in my computer, the video started, but it was very jumpy and didn't play right.  I tried to burn the DVD at 8X and 3X speed and neither worked.  Anyone have any thoughts?

Can your videos play in iTunes correctly? If yes, you can use a program to convert your videos to the DVD format, then use the iDVD to burn them to a DVD. use mpeg streamclip to convert the movie file to mp4, then burn to dvd, thats a cheap and easy way to do it, not much loss of quality, no ones expecting avatar sequences to be going on, but keep the original files on a HDD and maybe when you have  video editing software you can do something nice and proper.
I remember that Apple iDVD software can burn video to a DVD on Mac, but before that you need to transfer iPhone 4S video to your computer with iPhone transfer for Mac. After that, open the iDVD and directly import your video from iPhone 4S to iDVD for burning.

  • Trouble burning a playlist

I have created two similar playlists. When I try to burn a cd from the second playlist, itunes says that I have already burned 7 copies of the playlist. This is despite the fact that I haven't burned any copies of the second playlist. I have burned 7 copies of the first playlist. How different do the two playlists need to be so I can use both as independent playlists.
    dell   Windows 98

I don't know since I don't buy iTMS songs. But one thing you might try, off the top of my head. Add a long song as the very last track, a song that clearly won't fit with the other stuff. This is now a different play list.
Burn to an audio CD and iTunes will tell you it won't fit and if you want to span it across multiple CDRs. Say yes. All the songs but the last will go on the first CD. When it prompts for the second CD, cancel out (I am assuming you can cancel, but never tried it myself so I might be mistaken).
If this works, then you can get another 7 out of it and if you need another 7, try a different long last song.

  • CAN'T BURN MY PLAYLIST

    hey y'all,

    THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!!!!!!!!

Are you trying to make a normal Audio CD? If so, check and see what you are importing your files as. I found if you use MP3, when you burn to an audio CD iTunes will automatically expand your MP3 files into normal audio files used by audio CDs. However if you use Apple's compression format (AAC), I found that iTunes will NOT convert them to the uncompressed format for an audio CD and will instead simply skip over them. So a play list with 5 MP3 sounds and 5 AAU songs that are burned to an audio CD will end up with a CD with only five tracks, those that were originally MP3s.
So with that said, I suspect when you upgraded, that iTunes setting were set to the defaults and I seem to recall that AAU is the default setting for importing compression, not MP3. So check your playlist and see if the ONE song you find that will burn is indeed MP3 while the others are AAU. The solution is to either convert the tracks to MP3 from the AAU tracks (not my first choice) or reimport those tracks using the MP3 compression setting. You probably want to change your preferences permanently to MP3 for importing as well to avoid this problem in the future.

  • Installed latest itunes update and computer tried to burn a playlist to CD and realized computer no longer recognizes my CD/DVD drive. This is an APPLE Itunes issue. Help!. HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, windows 7

Installed latest itunes update and computer tried to burn a playlist to CD and realized computer no longer recognizes my CD/DVD drive. After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . After reading an earlier complaint from 2009 in the support community,  I ran diagnostics from ITunes which gave the following result. Can someone please help? • Trouble burning Sony dvd-r discs

I am not able to burn video to Sony brand DVD-r discs and I am able to burn to memorex discs of same type, if I slow down the burn rate from 8x to 3x.  Any way I can use the Sony Discs?  Thanks.

Hi! Sense You have not posted your model number found on the bottom of your laptop; there's no way for us to know what OS you have or any thing else. How many different Sony DVD's have you tried to burn video?? If you have W7, there are trouble shooting features in the Action Center, which can be accessed from search.

Hi I'm having trouble burning a DVD. When I click burn, it all goes well until it's finished when it says that the HVDVD_TS folder was not included in the final disc. If anybody can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

    what up J
what is it you want to burn, sounds liek a "hddvd". if thats the case check out my previous post at

  • I have been having trouble burning a DVD.

I have been having trouble burning a DVD.  It goes through all the steps until it gets to the multiplexing "burn" step and then with 3 minutes left the disk pops out.  The disk is left empty and an error comes up.  I have been able to burn DVD's before, so this is frustrating.

Well - not correct answer as I understands it - This is a very complex question. In my case I'de put a button just touching the TV-Safe area boarder. Moving it a minute inside and the Error disappeared.
BUT - there are so many other things that I collected a long long list on this - read and see if You find help here.
    Multiplexing Error
    PART One.
Use of strange video/audio material eg .avi, .wmv, .mp3 etc.
    I only use.
Video - StreamingDV (miniDV tape via FireWire) and
Audio = .aiff (as on audio-CDs) (else coverted to this .aff 48KHz)
    Chapters !
    A.    Using strange letters in video project name eg +,/; etc. keep to a-z and 0-9 strange letters in project name eg +
as described by Donnyboy69.  Does the title of your project have any symbols or decimal points in it. If so, that is why you are getting the error. I had a project that had a + sign which caused the same problem. I renamed it without the symbol and low and behold, it worked.
    B.    Location of Chapters
    • Can’t be at start or end of movie (Skip first/start one - iDVD sets this by it self. At the End - no need)
    • Not in a transition (or within 2-3 seconds from it)
Important when from iMovie HD6 or previous - Now also observed when using FCE 4
    PART Two.
    from Robert Modero.
"Multiplexing Error. Problem during initialization of tracks"
Simply remember to add subtitles to your Quicktime files and menu buttons.
Once I did that, I was back in business.
    from Boise Jim
Do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on grey background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
I always makes a DiskImage first and test this so that it runs OK
I use only - Verbatim DVDs
    I use only - DVD-R
I burn at an as slow speed possibly eg x1
    This gives good DVDs
    PART Three.
    Multiplex Error
    Chuck, Chicago 2/7/2009.
Back again. Here is what I have found to work. I also have and use a LaCie DVD-R/RW DL external drive and a LaCie external hard drive as well. Since yesterday I have tried a few ways to burn a themed iDVD project having four 56 minute movies on it, amounting to 226 minutes onto a DVD DL disc, capacity 240 minutes. Apple tech support really didn't know what to do but gave me a very good tip. I had two options left. Apple tech support's tip was to try disc image. One of the replies on a thread with this subject said not to, but my experience today is good. Put your project onto "Burn to disc image," under "iDVD, file." Yesterday encoding took me 23 1/2 hours. Overnight for iDVD disc image, encoding took 21 1/2 hours (again) while I slept. This morning I tried to copy/burn disc image to a DVD with Roxio Toast 7, and it stopped near the end of the burn with some kind of "error" message. So then I tried Utilities> Disc Utility> Burn icon, and followed it through. Be sure to click the DVD DL drive in the window "Burn disc in.". I had one other problem though. At the end of a 46 minute copy, it started to verify, and at the end of verify it rejected the burn. So I tried again, and when "verify" appeared, I clicked on "Skip." The disc finished burning and is doing fine and well. A long and tortuous process, but at last something works. I made several additional copies using Disc Utility. Best wishes. Chuck, Chicago.
    2. Disconnect any other external devices not absolutly needed.
eg external USB/USB2 hard disks, other FW hard disks etc.
3 Chapter marks in transitions - minimum 2 sec from

(Not a 'guy' but I will answer!)
First, I do not think that mixing widescreen and standard makes a difference in iDVD.
Second, you should use a better brand of DVD disk. Also, many of us have experienced fewer problems on playback with DVD-R disks. Recommended brands here are Verbatim, Maxell and Taio Yuden. Memorex and TDK are not consistent and may not give you a correct burn. They apparently have fewer layers in the composition of the disk. I have always used Verbatim DVD-R disks and have not had any burn problems.
Also, choose a slower burn speed, 4x or less.
Third, to determine if the iDVD project will burn properly, create a disk image file (from within iDVD, go File->Save as Disk Image) and test it. Mount the disk image and then open DVD Player (in Applications) and view your project. If it plays correctly, you can then burn the actual DVD disk from the disk image file using Disk Utility.

I did everything I've seen suggested, but a friend (who used to be an Apple Genius) suggested that I do a safe reboot (by holding down the shift key until you see the spinning gear on grey background, then release, then restart when your start-up screen appears).
It worked, and I got a clean burn from iDVD.
Hopefully this can help other people.

Well, I finally got it, and it was odd enough to post here incase anyone looks this topic up again. Many things were tried, including burning the uneditited film, the edited film without titles and chapter markers, abbreviating the chapter markers in case length was the issue (remember the old iMovie used to truncate them when moving to iDVD?). In the process, I noticed that one, and only one, chapter marker was on the same line as the title marker. All the others were on the line above. The only way I seemed able to change that was to clip a few seconds of film. After that last clip, the offending marker took a place on the line above, as were all the others. That run published, compiled completely and burned. That's one for the books.
    *One user more writes*
To add my experience with Multiplex Errors using iDVD (7.0.4), I recently created two iDVD projects
Video from both passed from FCE 4.01 with chapters
One project worked fine in creating disk image file
    The other gave Multiplex Errors
I tried suggestions to remove special characters and no chapter marks at beginning, but nothing worked
Note that I've used iDVD for dozens of projects and this is first time I've run into Multiplex Errors
Anyway, for problem project, I tried an experiment where I removed all chapters in FCE and passed to new iDVD project
    This time multiplex errors gone
So had something to do with chapters
So now I tried numerous experiments to remove individual chapters and try again creating disk image with new iDVD project
After numerous trys, I was able to narrow problem down to 1 "Bad" chapter mark
That is, when I left the "bad" chapter in my FCE project and passed to iDVD, iDVD gave multiplex error
When I removed "bad" chapter mark (and others in), no mulitplex error
As a final experiment, I moved "bad" chapter mark about 5-10 secs beyond original point and passed to iDVD, the multiplex errors now magically went away and I was able to finally create my disk image.
I have no idea why this worked, but thought I'd mention here in case someone else runs into similar problem.

In addition to Bengt's fine advice, burning errors can occur if you have located any of your menu buttons wholly or partly outside of the safe TV viewing area. Go to your main project menu, then click on View/Show TV Safe Area, to check. Drag into the safe viewing area any buttons that are outside the safe viewing area.
    Russ One - suggest this
Multiplexer Error-There was an error during muxing preparation
One thing that worked for me was to export the video w/o chapter markers as a self contained movie (thereby not loosing the edits & etc). Then make a new FCE project and import that movie into a new sequence and add the chapter markers. I've used "-", "&" and "," with no problem in the chapter names. Removing the markers or exporting without them did solve the problem but renaming them with just numbers 1,2,3....5, did not solve the problem and since this problem seems to happen with with iMovie as well, it would suggest the problem is in the video or audio and in combination with the chapter markers iDVD just can't handle it. The only other possibility is that both iMovie and FCE share the same or similar chapter marker code that some how is corrupting the markers.

  • Trouble burning dvd...message: playback may be disabled

i'm having trouble burning dvd through  - share - then checking blue ray box and burning it as AVCHD. i've done it before by following these same steps but this time the dvd player gives me the the playback mabe be disabled message, any suggestions...

no, i'm not trying to burn a blue-ray disc, it's just a box in a burn window that you check even when you're burning regular dvd, so it'll come out as avchd. anyway for some reason i can't get it to work.

  • I have an '09 15" mac book pro running os x mavericks and I'm having trouble burning a dvd.

I have an '09 15" mac book pro running os x mavericks and I'm having trouble burning a dvd. In iMovie, I sent my movie to file and then to iDVD to burn a copy. It was saved in Documents. When I went to iDVD, the thumbnail image of the movie to be burned was faded and inoperable. What's going on now?

Did you export the movie out of iMovie as 480p?  Next just drag the movie from the Documents folder into the iDVD menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Lastly follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
