Trouble burning photos do disc

Hello!
I am having all kinds of trouble saving my photos to a CD-RW. I was able to burn an album using iPhoto, but from what I understand, I will only be able to view these in iPhoto. I want to be able to back my images up with the ability to view them on any computer.
I tried burning from the finder, but when I click on the "burn" button an error message appears telling me to insert a blank CD with enough space. There was already a blank CD inserted. I've tried two different types of blank CD's, neither worked in the finder.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm running out of room on my hard drive and need to get these photos backed up so I can delete them.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Sweet. Thanks for telling others what you did to solve the problem. That helped bunches.

  • Will not burn photos to disc

iPhoto will not burn photos to a DVD disc(Maxell DVD+R).
    iMac response is:
"The burn to the SuperDrive drive failed. The disc drive didn’t respond properly and can’t recover or retry."
These Maxell DVD's are probably 2+ years old. However, I was able to burn 2 disc early this morning. Could it be a heat problem with the SuperDrive?
    Your Thoughts?

If you have burned 5 or 6 disc in a row then maybe heat could be a concern.  I don't think so with just 2.  Are you able to burn a disc, CD or DVD, from the Finder or is it just from iPhoto?

  • Burn photos to disc

With the new iPhoto 11, and Aperture, I have no idea how to burn a CD or DVD with my files, as the older versions let me. How can I do it?

iPhoto '11: Create your own photo CDs and DVDs
If you have a disc drive that can burn discs, you can share or archive your photos (and video clips) by putting them on a CD or DVD.
You can burn photos, albums, and video clips to disc, but you can’t directly burn slideshows or projects (such as books, cards, and calendars) created in iPhoto.
To burn a CD or DVD for viewing in iPhoto:
Select the albums, photos, or video clips you want to burn to a disc.
                               Choose Share > Burn.
Insert a CD-RW disc or a blank CD-R or DVD-R disc into your drive.                           Disc information appears at the bottom of the iPhoto viewing area. The green area on the disc icon represents the amount of disc space your photos require.
If necessary, type a new name for the disc in the Name field.
                               Click the Burn button.
Click the Burn button in the Burn Disc window.

  • Trouble Burning Dual Layer Discs

I have recently installed the Samsung SH-S202N. I have Toast 9. I have tried to burn +R DL discs several times now, and they simply stick at around 2% complete. I then can't force quit toast or eject the disc.
I looked on the Samsung site for firmware updates, but there are currently none.
    Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
    Ben

I have had an issue with the Toast display getting stuck while the burn is actually completed; it'll say 18% completed forever, but the "time remaining" continues to tick down, and eventually I have a disc. Don't suppose that is your case? The latest Tiger upgrade may have whacked roxio software pretty hard, I am having lots of roxio trouble now.
As always, delete the toast plist in preferences, restart.
Internal superdrive or external after market burner? Toast is pretty good with after market externals. I gotta say. Also never use a hub or daisy chain on an external burner.. always connect directly to mac.

  • Trouble burning Dual-Layer discs using various programs... suggestions?

Hello, I could really use some constructive, helpful recommendations here. I've been trying to burn some large (5+ GB) disc images (ISOs, but mostly VIDEO_TS files) to a Dual-Layer disc that would play on a regular DVD player.
So far I've tried a couple different DL disc brands (HP, Memorex), and various programs (Finder, Liquid CD, even Toast Titanium 10 seems to have a hard time doing so), but without much luck-- mostly just end up with coasters.
Have you had this problem trying to burn Dual-Layer discs? And what's a good freeware/shareware program or method that's done the job that you can recommend? I have at least 75GB of space on my 250GB drive (so I would imagine that's enough for any temp burn folder purposes...)
    Thanks!

I use Verbatim usually and never have any problems so try one of those if possible, but before you do run a DVD Lens Cleaner disc through it as just a small spec of dust or dirt can sometimes play havoc.
I burn most things with Toast or the Mac OS itself.

  • Burning photos to disc in Aperture...

I've spent a lot of time searching the Aperture User Manual on how to burn the photos I have in Aperture to a disc so that I can share them with friends. Can anybody help me? Is this even possible, because I haven't been able to find anything on the subject. Maybe I'm just using the wrong search terms.

I had wanted to do a yearly solid back up of 2009 photos to store away. Clean up the library and start fresh again. One disc(the Vault) said "library not found" and to create a new one, which I did and a new aperture with a blank browser comes up. The other(just the library was burned) the icon comes up but when I double click on it I get: Aperture cannot access this library. What did I do wrong? Lost forever? I then imported into iPhoto library and most came back some photos were "unreadible files"

  • Best way to burn photo cd for PC user?

I want to share some pictures with a PC user. The last photos burned to a cd for a PC user was littered with the UNIX files .ds and .ds_store etc. It confused the PC user mightily.
Is there a best practice for burning photos to disc for PC users to keep it free of OS litter?
    Thanks!

The displayed sort order of files is determined by the settings in the operating system that is displaying the contents of the folder (or directory). The user controls those settings when the folder contents are displayed, not iPhoto during the export.
One consideration that is important though... If you export images from iPhoto to a folder by dragging the images from the iPhoto Window, the original file creation dates will be retained (the image files are copied), but if the images are exported via the iPhoto "Export..." dialog, the exported image files will end up with the current date and time.

  • My Slot Drive is giving me trouble. Doesn't burn or read discs that i have/want to work!!

My Slot drive is giving me trouble. It will not burn or read discs that i have/want to work on. It makes a strange noise when i put in a blank cd and spits it back out after 20seconds. It will read third party discs no problem which is very strange indeed. Last week i burned photos to a blank disc and went to make a duplicate and this is when the trouble began. Has anyone ever come across an issue such as this before?? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Well it looks like my media i.e. CDs/DVDs have gone past their sell by date. I purchased new discs to test your theory/bad experience and it looks like i too suffer the same fate!! It's great that this problem i have been having seems to be now rectified although it does lead me to a new issue, as the last two/three years of work saved on these discs are being rejected by my iMac If this is the case then what is the point in purchasing and burning discs for storage over a time that is quite reasonable really(at least 5years)!!!!!

  • I have created a slideshow using i Photo. How do I burn it to disc so that I can play it on my DVD?

I have created a slideshow using i Photo.
How do I burn it to disc to play on a DVD.
    I cannot access i DVD.
    Is this the problem?
I have exported the slideshow as a movie quick time file.
    What do I do next???

If your Mac is a new one, like mine, then it comes with a version of iLife that doesn't have iDVD and if so, there isn't an easy way to burn a DVD from iPhoto or iMovie that will play on a normal DVD player.  There is quite a bit of correspondence about this, but I couldn't find a good answer, apart from this:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18460085#18460085
I ended up buying (via Amazon) a boxed version of iLife11, which has all the same software I already have, but with a copy of iDVD with it.
Seems to work well with iMovie, but at the moment, my copy of iPhoto has crashed - see:
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/18943719#18943719
Having only just transferred from a Windows machine to a Mac, it seems incredibly arrogant for Apple to think people don't use DVD players anymore.

Having trouble burning discs, sometimes error 4280 comes up, anyone know?
sometimes it will say checking media, then it will do nothing!

Look around for more posts about this. There are TONS. I'm guessing you have upgraded to the newest Itunes. Which apparently makes you CD burning fail! Itunes needs to fix this problem but so far they haven't. I think there are little things that you can do to maybe fix it but I'm not sure so look around for other posts about this same kind of thing, anything along the lines of CD's not burning and error 4280. I wasted 5 CD's trying to get past this error thinking it was my CD's fault.

  • Trouble burning Sony dvd-r discs

I am not able to burn video to Sony brand DVD-r discs and I am able to burn to memorex discs of same type, if I slow down the burn rate from 8x to 3x.  Any way I can use the Sony Discs?  Thanks.

Hi! Sense You have not posted your model number found on the bottom of your laptop; there's no way for us to know what OS you have or any thing else. How many different Sony DVD's have you tried to burn video?? If you have W7, there are trouble shooting features in the Action Center, which can be accessed from search.

That's great. Did you want me to google up a manual and read it for you?
You must of missed me asking precisely that.
emwoody, I don't even see a DVD player on your TV. But you do have an USB and SD card reader.
Simply just add some pictures to an USB thumb drive or SD card. Then stick them into the TV. The Media Player should start to load automatically, I believe my TV does. But if not, hit the Viera Tools and select Media Player. From there you should be able to scan through your pictures.
Check out page 36 for the Media Player information.

The two usual causes of this messages is poor media and too high a burn speed.  Try using a different brand of disk. Verbatim is the most recommended brand and a slower burn speed, around 4X.

  • Failing to burn photos onto a disc

When I try to burn photos onto a USB SuperDrive it fails. It worked before, but now it says "The burn to the SuperDrive drive failed. The disc drive didn't respond properly and cannot recover or retry." Is there anything I can do?

Hi Old Toad, thanks for the reply. I've been busy the last couple of days and haven't been able to get back onto the forum until now. I'm trying to burn from iPhoto - I'm not sure how to from Finder and can't seem to find a path for that. If that works then that would save me a bit of hassle to be honest. The weird thing is that while trying to burn photos onto a disc (and wasting about 14 of them in the process) I tested it on an iTunes playlist and that worked without a hitch. I'll explore Finder, but if you could give me a few pointers it would be appreciated.
I'm using Mountain Lion on a MacBook Air that is coming up for a year old, which was bought at the same time as the SuperDrive.
