Trouble changing primary e-mail on Apple ID

I created my Apply ID before making a @me.com email address, and now I'm having trouble deleting the older, unused e-mail and making the @me the primary on the account. How do I do this?

The short answer is you can't.
Even Apple Support can't do it for you. As silly as it may sound, after a long discussion about this issue with Apple Support, I resumed that, in order to use Apple email services, I'll need to login using a Microsoft email...
After a short silence, the answer from the support service was yes.
It's a shame because iMessage require your AppleID and not your iCloud email. So people need to email you at me@com but message you @live.com. It a serious lack of integretion...

You cannot change a *.mac, *.me or *.icloud email address - any Apple issued email address cannot be changed. Only non-apple issued primary email addresses are editable.

Issue when changing primary email address of Apple ID

I consider this mail as bug report of how Apple handles multiple email addresses on Apple ID.
Pre setup:
Primary email: "email address"
Additional address: "email address 2"
Iphone installed with "email address" and
Steps to do on appleid web page:
1 - Change password (was forced)
2 - Remove "email address 2" from additional mail addresses list
3 - Change apple ID primary "email address" to -> "email address 2"
4 - Add "email address" to additional addresses list
Result:
Primary email: "email address 2"
Addidional address: "email address"
When you try use iPhone, it asks login to iCloud (correct behavior, password has been changed). But iPhone does not ask for login, it asks password for "email address".
If you try remove "email address" iCloud account, iPhone asks password for "email address" to remove "Find my phone". Device cannot be removed from iCloud web page so iPhone is "locked" to "email address", and this cannot be changed.
Alternative Apple ID "[email protected]", also listed on additional email addresses list. You CAN'T change alternate Apple ID, but you CAN remove "[email protected]" from additional mail list. This must be bug!
Another bug: You CAN'T select primary email address from 'additional mail addresses' list, you MUST remove address from list first, then you can change primary address to that removed address. You should able to use own verified address as primary apple id address.
Also removed addresses must be re-verified every time after removing.

I had a similar problem, which prevented me changing my personal data on iCloud/apple etc. I found the answer on the apple web-site, "appleid.apple.com".
This site lets you change your primary country, and so lets you use the app store.

Alright here's the issue I signed up for my microsoft account through my brothers account and got Skype on my 360. Now I upgraded to my xboxone and I relize that my brother's e-mail is still located as the Primary. I had already changed my microsoft account to an e-mail address that I use. However, I can't seem to change my Primary E-mail address to my actual e-mail because I don't recall the password that I had created with that account. Is there any way to remove that old account? I tried looking for customer service however it either redirects to the community, the help page, or the form fill out page (that doesn't seem to exist). Any help would be awesome especailly since all I want to do is to change my secondary e-mail to my primary.

I confess, I am confused. If you use Skype now, the password you use to sign on to your outlook.com account should be the same password you would use to sign on to the software or app and also the Skype website, where your Skype account details are accessed. I want to change my apple-id e-mail adress. How can I do this without loosing my items?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only change your ID if it is a non Apple address.
Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple, Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

My question is how can I check what mail I have signed for receiving notifications, such as changing my method of payment or notify me of any changes made reagrding my account.

The information will be sent to your AppleID, if you are talking about iTunes and App store. iCloud you can at additional e-mail addresses. but to see the e-mail address you will need to open the programs and then click account then login.

TS4002 Trouble changing from Yahoo mail to iCloud mail

I use yahoo mail on macbook pro.. As the mail was repeatedly asking me to check my account password, i considered switching to iCloud mail with @me.com address. I set up the icloud mail account and was able to send and recieve mail from the icloud account. I was also able to forward the new inbox mail from yahoo to icloud.
However , i am unable to transfer my mail (roughly 400) in my Yahoo inbox to icloud inbox.
I tried selecting all the mails in Yahoo inbox and attempted Moving as well as Copying them to iCloud inbox. Both did not work.
Only a couple of mails (around 10) got transferred and nothing was happening. No error message is also shown.
When i tried to restart the mac, the mail does not shut down and after forcequitting it , a message popped up saying that the 390 mails could not be transferred.
Can any body help me with this....

You need to be more patient, you are moving your emails over the internet, it takes a while. Do it again and don't interrupt it this time.

You should be able to try removing the email address as being an alternate email address by logging into the account via http://appleid.apple.com
You can then try putting it as your primary email address either via that same site, by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Store on your iPad and logging into it, or via the Store > View Account menu option on your computer's iTunes. If you update it via http://appleid.apple.com or your computer's iTunes you might then need to log out of the account on your iPad by tapping on it in Settings > iTunes & App Store and then log back in with the updated version so as to 'refresh' the account on it. If you use iCloud you might also need to log out of the account via Settings > iCloud > Delete Account and then log back in with the updated version.

Problem with changin primary e-mail

Trying to change primary e-mail, as the account I am using will soon expire when I leave that work place. Told cannot use the new e-mail account chosen, because a device may already be registered under it. I don't think this is the case. What's my next step? I don't see a help contact that's relevant to this.

In most cases, your Apple ID is also the primary email address of your Apple ID account. You can change your Apple ID to any other email address you control, as long as it's not already being used and doesn't end with @icloud.com, @me.com, or @mac.com.
Use these steps to reset your Apple ID:
Sign out of iCloud, the iTunes Store, App Store, FaceTime, Find My Friends, Find My iPhone, and iMessage on each device that uses your current Apple ID for these services.
Go to My Apple ID.
Select Manage your Apple ID and sign in. Forgot your password?
Select Edit next to Apple ID and Primary Email Address.
Enter the email address that you want to use as your Apple ID, then select Save Changes. Apple will send a verification email to that address.
Open the email from Apple, then click Verify Now. Didn't receive the email?
When the My Apple ID page opens, sign in with your new Apple ID email address and password. When you see a message that verification is complete, you can start using your updated Apple ID.

I've tried accessing the mail through a mail application using the correct server information, and trying both the old 6 character password and the one I had to change it too after they updated the security guidelines - neither work.
Help would be greatly appreciated as I can see more services down the line not working without the address being verified!

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You should not need to verify the old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

You can create an alias @icloud.com email address within your current account that will receive email in your current iCloud inbox (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a). (@me.com addresses are no longer available as new addresses.) Just be aware that you cannot use an alias address later to create a new iCloud account or move it to a different account.
Also, even if you created a new iCloud account with a new ID, your existing purchases would not be lost. They are permanently tied to the original ID you used to purchase them. You can also continue to use the existing ID for the iTunes store; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.
