Trouble changing updated email address in settings

I have recently had to change my email address. Successfully changed it everywhere except in the settings area - icloud  - apple id - on my ipad help please

When you deleted the acct. did you do it by going to settings, iCloud and deleting it there?
Try doing that then power it all the way off then back on again and try adding it back again. If it still shows up, you should be able to highlight it and enter your new one.

    I don't think it is possible to change. When viewing my profile and selecting Edit Profile under "Actions," I can see a line for email address, but it does not look like a field where you can change/enter text. It appears whatever email you set is set in cement!

    The address for replies to threads I've started is an old address. I can access it, but it's a lot of trouble to do so.
    I've tried to change this address to another, more convenient one, but the change doesn't take. It's been a couple of hours since I first tried.

    Try removing the Apple cookies in your browser, make the change again, hit save and see if that works.

    Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap the old ID, sign out, sign in with the new one.
    App Store>Featured Tab>Swipe to the bottom of the screen and your Apple ID is there as well. Tap the ID and sign out, sign in with the new one,

    Here is a procedure that should help.
    1. Go to "Settings"
    2. Go to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
    3. Click the account you don't want anymore
    4. Go to the bottom and click "Delete Account"
    5. Confirm the deletion
    6. Go back to "Mail, Contacts, Calendars" (if you're not there already)
    7. Add your new account

    I am sure there is an easy answer to this. I had to change my email address and filled in all the details on line with apple. Now, however, when I try to download anything from the apps store on my ipod it still has my previous ID and when I try to update anything in my library on my laptop it won't update using my new ID as it says it was purchased by someone else

    After changing it did you go to Settings>iTunes and App Store and sign out and sign back in?

    I changed my email address. Logged into the iTunes Store and changed my address  - which is also my Apple ID. The change was applied. I can now low into the iTunes Store with my new email address. But I can no longer update my purchased apps. The iTunes Store claims I don't own the originals and suggests I purchase them. ***? I used their site to make the change. I did not simply open a new account, though that's how the store seems to be treating me. How do I get this reconciled?

    Firstly, you need to change your details with Apple,  Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account. You may have already done this.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > iTunes & App store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

    Go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone, then sign back in with your new credentials.  If all you did was modify your existing ID rather than creating and entirely new ID, you can choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted.  Your data will still be in iCloud and will download to your phone when you sign back in.

    I had recently changed my email address. I changed it through itunes but did not through icloud because I thought it would change everywhere.     I previously purchased several apps from the app store using my AppleID which was using my previous hotmail email address details. Now that hotmail is joined with Skype, I changed my email address to Gmail and then updated the information for my AppleID. Now when I view the purchase History using the new email
    address to sign in to my AppleID, I cannot view the previous purchases which I had when I had a Hotmail account. I can only view recent purchases and furthermore I cannot print the list of items purchased. I have been able to download / update previous purchases and download them again by signing in with
    my previous AppleID information but I want to know how I can transfer the information to my new account. Another problem I am having is that it shows there are 3 pages of purchases but I cannot view the 3rd page.

    You can't merge Apple IDs.  You also can't cancel (delete) and existing ID, you can only choose to stop using it.
    If your old ID was compromised and you can no longer access it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance.  Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then then 'Apple ID account Security’.

    Member profile update should allow for change of email address otherwise one has to unsubscribe their old email address and re-subscribe the new one.

    I worked out the answer to my own question.
    1. Logged into my Apple ID
    2. Editited my Apple ID email address (old) and changed it to my @me.com address (ignored the red warning about Apple ID must not use a domain owned by Apple) and pressed the blue Save Changes button anyway at the bottom of the page.
    This created a new Primary Email Address with the @me.com (which needed to be verified etc.)
    The Primary Email Address can now also be changed to my @icloud.com address if I wish (which also needs to be verified.
    I would now like to be able to use the option to 'Make my Apple ID and Prmary email address one and the same'. So I can finally get rid of my old e-mail address as my Apple ID. It can give me the option to change it to my @icloud.com address, but when I press submit, it does not do anything. This feature does not seem to work yet. I suppose that is another question / request.
