Trouble clicking items on Mac

Recently, I've had trouble clicking items on my Mac. I sometimes have to click 2 times to select something. Sometimes 5 or 10. Sometimes a click grabs an item and moves it. Sometimes it opens an item. It's rather sporatic.
This is regardless of whether I am using the trackpad or Magic Mouse. So it sounds to me like software related...
Leading up to this, I installed an automatic mouse clicking program that requires you to turn on access for assistive devices in the Finder. So common sense, I turned of my auto-clicker and changed the setting back in System Preference when I noticed I was having a problem. But this didn't fix it.
I have turned off access to assistive devices, no sticky keys, no slow keys, no mouse keys. Can't imagine what could still be open or still modified that could change this. The keyboard is clean and the mouse pad and button have been under a Marware shield for the past year or so. But regardless this same problem occurs with an actual mouse too.
I feel like it's some simple setting somewhere, can anyone help?

I am assuming that you have restarted/rebooted your mac too?
Try Onyx to scan and clean up anything that you shouldn't have.

I am not certain this will fix your problem but I suggest you assign the printer a static IP address.
Using the printer's front panel, select Menu > Network > WLAN > TCP/IP > Boot method, and change it to "static". Provide a static IP address that is on your LAN's subnet.
For example, if you are using an AirPort Extreme, you might give it an IP address of 10.0.1.100. If you are using a Netgear or Linksys router that defaults to issuing 192.168.x.x addresses, you might give it an address of 192.168.1.100. That way, the printer will always "reside at the same address" on your network. If your router has the ability, you should reserve that address so that the router does not attempt to assign it to another DHCP device.
Then, go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, and delete your existing printer with the "–" (minus) button. Add it again, using the "+" (plus) button. In the window that appears, select the IP pane, and from the Protocol menu select "Line Printer Daemon (LPD)". In the Address field type the IP address you gave your printer.
If all goes well the "Pring Using" field will detect the printer at that address and automatically select the appropriate driver. You will see something similar to the following screenshot ("name" can be whatever you decide, and "location" is optional):
Click Add, then you can close System Preferences.
There are other possible reasons your printer is "not responding" which could include wireless interference from competing wireless networks, but try this "static IP" method first. It should mitigate the problem.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

All the storage in "Backups" is taken up by local snapshots, which are made automatically in all MacBooks, MacBooks Pro and MacBooks Air with OS X Lion or newer and Time Machine turned on.

I lugged the G4 around town to three different computer repair shops, and they all confirmed that I had installed the fans correctly, and all fans were running fine. Of course, this only makes the problem harder to solve.
Furthermore, my friend was using the G4 last night when it was a cool 72 degrees (F) in his apartment, and the computer still forced itself into Sleep mode after just over an hour of use. He was using Final Cut Pro at the time, editing a project spread across two external FireWire hard drives. I just can't imagine this amount of activity overheating the G4, which was my editing workhorse for six years before handing it over to my friend.
When I replaced the cooling fans, I did select new fans with slightly lower airflow than the original fans (which many people have replaced, due to the amount of noise they produce). Any opinions on whether that could be the issue?

How to get the Clicked Item of a ListBox?

I need to get the clicked item of a listbox.
The item can be at first selected, when I click it again, it

Trouble connection on ONE Mac !?

I restore (from an other Mac) my iMac G4 few days ago. Almost everything was look fine and work after (some minus trouble connecting the 2 Mac Firewire. Probably some Alias I was using for some Utilities who was unable to work properly)
This morning Adobe Updater said he had an update for Illustrator CS3 and ask me to quit Firefox 3. I did it, Illustrator is now update but I can't anymore get an internet connection with the iMac.
Note that *on the same connection*, my iBook connect as usual.(I know I can't connect both in same time. Is always only one Mac connected)
I check the pref. panel/Network. They have both the same Built-in Ethernet configuration.
I need some help because I don't know where to look to fix it.

Closed captioning on click items?

I'm creating a project with audio (in Cp7), but where the audio is associated with a click item (for example, you click an image of a person to hear what they have to say).
Is it possible to have closed captioning for this kind of audio, or must it be associated with a slide? I have not been able to find a way to apply closed cpations to this sort of audio.

You cannot add closed captions to object level audio. You can attach the audio to the interactive object's Success caption and then place the CC text in the caption. That way, both the audio and the related text appear together. Time the caption to exist on screen for at least the duration of the audio, if not more.

"archive and install" button can't be clicked, already have Mac OS 10.4

i cannot start up my laptop and i see the apple logo and it doesn't go to my desktop and i would like to do a "archive and install" but the button isn't an option for me even though i have Mac OS 10.4 already installed when i bought it.
should i go through all of the disk utility and repair/verify everything and see if then i can archive and install?
and does anyone know if the archive and install saves iTunes/iPhoto files?

How to Perform an Archive and Install
1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.
