Trouble combining files in Acrobat Standard X

We are trying to combine existing PDF's into a single PDF "packet" file.  However, we are running into issues where Acrobat is displaying an error/warning of "Please remove problem files from the list or choose the Portfolio option."  The "problem files" appear to be those with a Warnings/Errors message of "Adobe XML forms cannot be ...".  User encountering error has indicated they believe there may be some issues with these PDFs having been created via LiveCycle.  They include a field with a drop-down menu that allows you to choose a value which in turn adds a different company logo to the final document based on your selection.  We didn't have these issues with Acrobat Standard 8... only since upgrading to X.
We're looking at purchasing a number of licenses for multiple users to be able to use Acrobat, but we don't want to purchase if it's not going to allow us to combine these documents which is a big reason we were looking to purchase in the first place.  Thanks in advance for any help working around or correcting this issue.

So, my understanding is that the Portfolio option isn't available in Standard.  Are there any workarounds to accomplish this in Standard, such as saving the documents in another format?  Or is our only option to bite the bullet and purchase Pro?

  • How to Combine Files in Acrobat XI Standard?

I see that you can combine files in XI Standard. But can you right click on multiple files and hit "Combine files in acrobat"? Or do you have to open one file, then search for the others, and combine them that way.
That's how it works with XI Pro that i downloaded for a trial. But i have Windows 7 64 bit, and that has made my old Acrobat 8 do some weird things, including taking away the choice of right clicking to combine.
Can someone please tell me if this works? Thanks!

It might with AA8 if you have installed the updates. Without the updates AA8 may not work correctly. A few have reported it works for them on Win 7, 64-bit. But you are the first I have heard asking about combining files.
Are the files PDFs or something else. It may be if they are MS OFFICE files, then your AA8 is not compatible with the MS OFFICE you have for this function to work.

  • How to retain numerical order (Of file names) when combining files in Acrobat (9) Standard

How to retain numerical order (Of file names) when combining files in Acrobat (9) Standard, please see the attached screenshot for a clearer explanation.
I understand that if we prefix all files with leading zero's this will probably resolve the issue but I just wondered if anyone new the answer. The ironic situation is that version 6 has no problem.
I have spent over an hour with techincal support who were unable to provide me with an answer

It is not clear how you are trying to do the order. Have you tried to select a set of files and then use the arrow buttons to move them in the list? If you select the heading, that will typically reorder the files by that heading and undo everything you had done before.
You should be able to select groups of files and move them up and down in the list. All of those options appear on your view, so what is the real question?

  • Getting "save as" dialog box to auto populate when combining files in Acrobat X Standard

In acrobat 9 the "save as" dialog box auto populated when I combined files, in Acrobat X it creates binder1 and then I have to click file and save as.  Is there a setting that I am missing so I do not have to do the extra step of file, save as?

    Hi cp-daytona,
Please elaborate your issue and if possible then please attach the screenshot.

There were problems with IE9 on it's initial release and that may be what you are seeing if that is the browser (you did not indicate the browser and that may be a key). If you have a different browser you might try that one with the same pages to see if it browser related.
By saying garbled it sounds like the fonts did not make it or you have selected "Use Local Fonts" in Acrobat. Try checking the latter first. Then check if the fonts are embedded in the PDF by checking the document properties (ctrl-D). If they are not, go back to the browser and select the press or print job options before printing and see if they get embedded and if your problem is resolved.

  • Unable to combine files on acrobat 8 getting error message "no PDF file was created beacuse Acrobat encountered an unidentified error"

unable to combine files on acrobat 8 getting error message "no PDF file was created beacuse Acrobat encountered an unidentified error" Please help

A lot of the time the files can not be combined because of incompatible fonts, or at least font sets that could not be resolved. Maybe that will give you some direction to look at.

  • Anyone that could help me find installation files for Acrobat Standard 8?

I am trying to find and download installation files for Acrobat Standard 8 - I have the serial number - but I can only find the files for the Professional version, unfortunately. Anyone know where I can find for Standard version?
I have used this link but it only gives me the professional version, unfortunately:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-8-9-product-downloads.html

I believe there are no downloads available for the older versions of Acrobat Standard.

  • Where can I find the Install File for Acrobat Standard 9?

I am trying to reinstall Acrobat Standard 9, but can't locate the Install File for Standard, only for Pro.  Can anyone tell me where the file for Standard is kept?

As far as I know the older versions of Acrobat Standard are (still) not available... I've seen discussions where that's debated but I have yet to see anyone report  finding the file.

  • Unable to associate PDF files to Acrobat Standard 7 after latest reader 9 patch

    I am unable to
make PDF files open as Acrobat standard 7 as my default PDF viewer. I have tried to right click open with, more, browse to acrobat standard 7 folder, coose acrobat program, then open. The acorbat standard 7 program never gets listed in the other programs list. I have also deleted the pdf file type extension and browsed over to Acrobat standard 7 folder and chose program and it still opens in Reader 9.  The one bright sopt in all this is I still have the right click open with Acrobat Standard 7 listed.
My users want to just open PDF attachments from outlook without having to save the PDF's first to thier hard drive, open with acrobat standard 7, then save them again, then reattach to to email and foward on with approval stamp. This is on at least 2 machines, an Xp and Vista machine.

    OK Here is my fix.
I reran the Acrobat Standard 7 install from control panel and chose to "Repair" the installation. After rebooting I could just double click on a PDF and it opens up in Acrobat Standard 7.

  • Open PDF not auto included when combining files in Acrobat X

If I have a PDF open in Acrobat X and I click Create -> Combine files into a single PDF, the PDF that is open is not automatically included in the list of files to combine in the Combine Files window. I need to click the Add Files drop-down and then click Add Open Files to include it. Does anyone know if there is a way to turn this functionality on by default? It was the default action in previous versions of Acrobat if I remember correctly.
    Thanks!
    Dennis

Thanks Dave. I wish there was a setting for this, as 99% of the time, I need the file that is open to be included in the combine. But the majority wins

  • Combining files in Acrobat Pro X

I've been obliged to upgrade my Acrobat Pro 8.1.0 to Acrobat Pro X because of a switch to Windows 7 (conversion of non PDFs would not work).  One of my most used facilities was to put multiple files into a PDF Package such that each file could be identified and opened via a thumbnail.  In general, the combined file size was smaller than the sum of the constituents.  The only equivalent I've (yet) found in Acrobat X is the PDF Portfolio facility which is fine but gives a combined file size massively greater than the sum of the constituents.  As my primary aim is to minimise file size for emailing, is there an alternative equivalent to the PDF Package my former Acrobat version which still shows 'on top' all the contained files?

Did you updates X or have 10.0.0? The updates are required for use with OFFICE 2010.

  • Opening Pdf files in Acrobat standard

The PDF document is all shaded in Acrobat Standard but I can read the PDF file in Reader?   Why can I not read or edit in Standard?

All I can imagine is that the PDF is secured, corrupt, or has features from  AA X that are not in AA9, thus causing AA9 to fail.

  • Trouble combining files.

When I try to combine 3 different fillable PDF's, I only get the first file but 3 times.

Have the forms all the same fields names? You can flatten the form fields before you combine the documents.

  • Trouble Combining PDF's, launching Acrobat and Adobe Application Manager 10x Pro

Hi I’ve been having some troubles with the following problems, originally the programs worked fine, yet now they don’t. Help would be very much appreciated
    - cannot combine files with acrobat 10 x pro it says "Adobe PDF creation cannot continue because Acrobat is not activated" yet I have activated it. This is when I print combining sheets and when I combine PDF's manually.
    - cannot open Acrobat 10 x pro, it does not launch
    - cannot open Adobe Application Manager it comes up with an error message "we have encountered some problems..." it then tries to update but fails.
    thanks

    finaly figured out how
I went into google to find a link to the application update manager which sent me back to the adobe website after downloading a fresh version
I discovered in my downloads I still had a setup file for creative suite
    - set up click adobe acrobat and it should add the missing files and works like a gem now

  • The "combine supported files in Acrobat..." option either disappears or doesn't work

I have tried searching for an answer on this with no joy!
We have documents that we regularly produce here that are a mixture of Word, Excel and PDF documents, all combined into 1 PDF. Currently we have to convert each document into PDF individually, then combine these into 1 large PDF.I have tried several different file types for the word documents (i.e. .doc .docx .dot) and in every case either the  "combine supported files in Acrobat..." option disappears from the right click menu, or after moving to the 2nd page in the "combine files wizard" under "Warnings/Errors" they come up with the error "cannot convert file type to PDF. Please remove this file from list."
This is happening on several PCs, some with version 8 and some with version 9 of adobe. We are using office 2007 in case this is relevent?
Any ideas how we can change this?
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Tom

    Hey TomHawes,
I checked for the same. The .dot file extension does not support the option for 'Combine files to Acrobat' when combined with other .doc and .docx files.
You might need to first convert it into PDF and then combine it with other files.
