Trouble completing installation upgrade to PP CS5 from DVD.

Trouble completing installation upgrade to PP CS5 from DVD. I am 99% through the installation, but says I need to close safarinotificati to continue. All my applications were closed, including Safari and I've never heard of safarinotificati
Please advise of anyone knows what I can do. The only option in the window is to cancel the installation.

Hi Lanaid,
Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Please open activity monitor and check if there is any entry for safari in there.
If yes, please close the process and then try.
Thanks

  • Upgrade of CS3-CS5 from old Macs to new Macs...

    Hi there,
We currently have four Macs all running CS3.
We are looking to buy two new machines to replace two of these (for the faster operators).
I want to hold on a bit for CS5 to be released and then upgrade.
How do i go about the changeover?
Do i deactivate CS3 on both old machines (these machines will be put in to storage and no longer used), install it on the two new macs and then buy an upgrade package for CS5 for both machines?
I was just unsure about the changeover to new machines and licensing issues!
Can anybody shed any light on this?
Or is the above a completely long-winded way to go about the upgrade?
Or, am i going to have to buy two brand new copies of CS5 outright?
I'm sorry to be so long-winded!
    Best regards,
    Graham Robins

  • Upgrading to PP CS5 from CS4 Master Collection

    Hi there,
I am currently running Premiere Pro CS4, as part of the CS4 Master Collection package.
I need to upgrade my copy of Premiere to CS5 but can't afford to upgrade the rest of the bundled software.
Is it possible to upgrade to Premiere Pro CS5 from a copy of CS4 within the CS4 Master Collection, or am I only entitled to upgrade to the entire Master Collection CS5?
    Thanks!

I upgraded from the CS 4.0 Master Collection to the CS 5.5 Master Collection myself. If you use the other products in the Master Collection you should upgrade the whole thing. Photoshop, AE and DreamWeaver have had some nice new features added since version 4. Keep in mind Audition is now included with the Master Collection.

  • Upgrade to Photoshop CS5 from CS3/CS2/6.0

I purchased Adobe Photoshop 6.0, then upgraded to CS2, then CS3.
    Can I upgrade to CS5?
If so, can I install the trial and later activate it once I have the key?
Since the key is an upgrade key, what is it going to ask for to verify the fact that the CS3 version (which was an upgrade) was based on a full retail version?
The reason for all these questions is that I'm going to be upgrading from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 64 bit. I'd like to just install Photoshop CS5 and try it out, then order the upgrade to complete the install later. I'm concerned about an upgrade not being appropriate (1) and a need to install Photoshop CS3 completely and then run the update to CS5. If I have to do that, I may just install CS3 after my Windows upgrade.
Thanks in advance for your responses. While I did see some questions about upgrading, I missed this exact scenario if it was previously posted.

The upgrade process is really quite straightforward these days - even on a new box which has never previously had Adobe software installed.
Upgrades are as good as full versions once installed. When installing upgrades, all that matters is that you have a serial number to an earlier qualifying version handy - Adobe has given up tracing this all the way back to your full version which could be up to 20 years ago. Upgrade serial numbers can only be verified by serial numbers up to 3 versions back anyway so Photoshop CS does not qualify for a CS5 upgrade.
There's no need to install older versions on a new computer before installing the CS5 upgrade version. It's actually the full code on the disk regardless of whether you purchased a full version or an upgrade - the serial number tells the installer if you've bought an upgrade or full version license.
When you enter your upgrade serial number for CS5, the installer will ask you to enter an earlier qualifying serial number (full or upgrade does not matter). I've successfully completed this exact scenario myself several times.
The only caveat to the above is that there is a world of difference in licensing terms (and serial numbers) between a suite and a standalone version. If you install a CS5 suite trial then want to keep just the Photoshop component (and enter its serial number), you'll have to uninstall the entire suite first then install the upgrade version of standalone Photoshop CS5. Then enter your CS5 serial number then verify by entering your CS3 serial number.

  • Upgrading to PS CS5 from a foreign version of PS Elements 6

Well, I live in India, and I had some friends in Texas purchase a Wacom tablet for me some time ago. I received Photoshop Elements 6 bundled with it and an upgrade offer that allows me to upgrade from PS Elements 6 to PS CS5 for $300.
Naturally, this offer is restricted to North America and Canada.
I was wondering if I would have any issues installing/activating the upgrade if I had some family members from Canada use the offer number to purchase the product upgrade(online, or a physical copy) over there and either send me the serial key or bring the physical copy with them when they make a trip over here. I'm aware that I may not receive product support, but that isn't too much of an issue to me.
I've also had no issues installing and activating the bundled copy of PS Elements 6.
    Thanks in advance!

    Thanks again for the answer.
On the product offer page, I have the following relevant information with the price listed as $299:
"Upgrade from Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, 8, 7, or 6 for Windows or Photoshop Elements 9, 8, 6, or 4.0 for Mac"
"As a valued customer of our partner, get $400 off the full retail price of US $699 when you upgrade from Photoshop Elements."
    Terms and conditions:
"Limit of one per household. Must own the copy of Photoshop Elements that came bundled with your product in order to install this version of Photoshop CS5 software. Offer valid in the U.S. and Canada only. Offer expires on November 30, 2011. Offer subject to change without notice."
I am able to add to cart, although I can't complete the purchase since my region is set to India. Does this mean the offer is still valid?

  • Just upgraded to PS CS5 from CS3 and LR will not recognize CS5 as external editor

I just upgraded from PS CS3 to CS5 then uninstalled CS3.  LR 2.7 is not recognizing PS (CS5) as the default external editor and I don't get the "edit as smart object in PS", "Open as layers in Photoshop", etc… options  when I right-click an image and select "edit in" as they are now greyed out.  I've tried to repair LR and reinstall but nothing makes it recognize PS CS5 as the default external editor.  Any ideas?  Thx in advance.

I ended up reinstalling CS5 and that solved the problem with one exception.  It is now the default external editor and I have the option to export to PS as a smart object - However, I do not have the options to export to PS in layers or export to PS as Photomerge or Export to PS as HDR.  I did have these options with CS3.

  • Upgrading to Photoshop CS5 from Photoshop CS4 Upgrade

I want to upgrade from CS4 to CS5, but CS4 is an upgrade. Can I still upgrade to CS5 even though CS4 is an upgrade?

Yes. That is, after all, the point of selling people upgrades with every new version.

  • Want to upgrade to PS CS5 from CS3 Web Premium

I want to upgrade from Photoshop CS3 that was part of CS3 Web Premium Suite to PhotoShop CS5 Extended. I do not want to upgrade the entire suite. Is this possible? Jack Davis said I should be able to. I just want to make sure. The Adobe website says I cannot. I think that is a marketing ploy... Can someone please help?

  • Cant install dreamweaver cs5 from dvd

    Im pulling my hair out

    What OS?
Is the DVD for an upgrade version or the full version?
You can download old versions of the program from Adobe directly below (maybe your disk has gone bad): Download and Installation Help | Download and Installation Help
You may need to install as a trial, then activate afterwards using your hard copy info.

  • CS5 upgrade says on packaging that CS5 Design Standard is a qualifying product, but the installer will not complete the upgrade. How do I get the the installer to complete the upgrade?

When I enter the license key for a CS5 Design Standard Upgrade on a Mac with CS5 Design Standard installed and licensed, the installer says that there are no qualifying products installed to be upgraded.
The packing for the upgrade states that CS5 Design Standard is a qualifying product. How to I get the upgrade to install?

It does seem rather like that. However, the box copy of CS5DS Upg that I am holding also states that "you must have one of the following: Adobe Creative Suite 5 - Design Standard" on the packaging.
If I am trying to upgrade CS5DS with CS5DS, it is partly because Adobe is suggesting that it makes sense to upgrade to an identical product. Hence my confusion when the install failed.

  • After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I don't seem to have the "com.apple.garageband.plist" file that has been a common solution. Any suggestions?

After upgrading to Mountain Lion, I repurchased Garageband and I can't get passed the complete installation. I've read through several posts that all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist. Any solutions or suggestions?

    Did you upgrade from SnowLeopard?
I can't get passed the complete installation
What exactly is happening? Is GarageBand trying to download over and over again?
all reference the "com.apple.garageband.plist" solution. I don't seem to have the referenced .plist.
The property list stores your preferences, but also the settings from the last run of the application.  If that file is corrupted in some way, you might see third behaviour.
You must have this file, for it will be recreated automatically, if it is missing, or you have a permissions problem with your user library.
Perhaps you did look in he wrong place.
in MacOS 10.7. or later the User Library is hidden. To find the Preferences Files use the Finder's "Go" menu:
Quit GarageBand, if it is running.
Click onto you Desktop to bring the Finder forward.
In the Finder Menu press "Go" and hold down the "option/alt" key, until your user library appears in the drop-down menu
Select "Library" and in the Finder window that opens navigate to the "Prederences" folder; move com.apple.garageband.plist to the Desktop.
Log off and on again (don't skip that step!). Retry GarageBand and see if it GarageBand is now downloading the missing content properly.
If that does not fix the problem, post back and explain in more detail what the download problem is.
Why did you "repurchase" GarageBand? If you already owned GarageBand '11, it should be unnecessary.
    Regards
    Léonie

  • Upgraded to Firefox 8 and rebooted but when trying to start FF get message that reboot is require to complete installation; same message if I try to re-install or uninstall FF. Writing this using Google Chrome.

Upgrade to FF 8 (from 3.6) appeared to go smoothly, as did reboot, on Acer desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium. But I get "reboot required to complete FF installation" every time I try to start FF. Tried to uninstall FF using Control Panel uninstall and also using the uninstall in my Mozilla folder--get same "reboot required" message. Tried to reinstall FF--same message. In short, FF totally inoperable--and I'm starting to like Google Chrome.

    Please see:

    Delete the files in:
    C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates (%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox)
(The above is for a windows installation - a Mac installation stores its files in /Applications/Firefox.app <br />
To open one of these folders in OSX, Ctrl-click it and select Show Package Contents. )
Download a fresh copy of Firefox for installation.
Uninstall your current Firefox version before installing but don't remove your profile data when you uninstall Firefox (do not select to remove personal data) or you will lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder. Remove the program folder for Firefox as well.

  • Can I upgrade to CS5 from CS4 if CS4 is not on my computer?

I downloaded CS4 from the internet and ran it on my computer until the computer crashed and I had to install a new hard drive. I now have CS4 on a backup disk ONLY, and it won't install from the disk for some reason. I get this error message:
    UI mode: Full GUI
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
what():  Invalid path passed to FileSystemPath constructor.
If I upgrade to CS5, does CS4 have to be on my new hard drive to do so? I DO have the registration number for my copy of CS4. I don't want to pay the full price for CS5 when I can pay for the upgrade only.
    Thanks!

If you downloaded the CS4 product, then you can still access the download files from your Adobe account. Log in to your account and look under My Orders. (If you weren't able to deactivate the previous installation, you'll need assistance from a support agent before you can reinstall the CS4 software.)
However, you don't need CS4 installed in order to install the upgrade. You do, however, need the CS4 serial number.

  • I would like to update Pages from 4.1 to 4.2. I did not purchase it from the App Store but installed it with iWorks. How do I complete the upgrade?

I would like to update Pages from 4.1 to 4.2. I did not purchase it from the App Store but installed it with iWorks. How do I complete the upgrade?

The iWork 9.2 updater is for those using Mountain Lion. Why do you want to update to Pages 4.2 if you're still running Lion? There is no benefit & many users have had problems.
That being said, you must make sure the applications are where the installer initially put them. The updaters are very picky. If the location is not where the updater is programmed to look or if the folder doesn't have the name the updater looks for, it will not work. The applications cannot be renamed or moved. All three applications must be in the iWork '09 folder in Applications. That iWork folder must be named iWork '09. If it doesn't have the '09 Software Update won't find them & the updaters won't work.
Now, choose Software Update from the Apple menu, from System Preferences or launch the Mac App Store & click Updates. You should get a window similar to this screenshot. Now click the Update button next to iWork 9.2.
Alternatively, you can download the standalone update here.
