Trouble configuring mSATA add as bootable hdd-0 on x230

I installed the 32gig msata and my x230 system identifies it as hdd-1 I tried removing the hdd-0 and used the restore disks to configure the system to boot from the msata, gets most of the way through and hangs every time. What do I need to do to configure the msata as disk 0 and make it bootable?

Sorry for these issues, the updates team is still working on getting all the updates published for the new systems like X230...
Bluetooth should be there starting from today.
I recommend not installing RapidBoot Shield unless you have personally tested it and determined that it makes your image boot faster and doesn't cause side-effects.
Intel USB 3.0 has a wrong dependency on RapidBoot Shield, the team is working on removing the dependency.  If you are using ThinInstaller you may be able to figure out how to remove the dependency from the XML file yourself...

How can I get hold of these so I can add an extra HDD .

No. It has its sata connection.
I just need to know where I can find the part numbers or buy the parts from such as the hard drive cradle and cover piece.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - Can I add a second HDD?

    Hi Forums,
I have a A300 PSAGDA-02000R and was wondering if is possible to add a second HDD to it. after I removed the panel to inspect where the second HDD goes I discovered that there was no connectors, so I was wondering if you can purchased or have Toshiba install a second set of connectors?
    any answer would be great

    > after I removed the panel to inspect where the second HDD goes I discovered that there was no connectors, so I was wondering if you can purchased or have Toshiba install a second set of connectors?
There are no connectors and this means that there is no second HDD controller on the motherboard and this means that second HDD is not possible.
This means also that its not possible to add any connectors or any controllers to the motherboard

  • What is the maximum HDD size for Pavilion DV7-3105ea and can I add a 2nd HDD.

    Hi,
Please could someone advise me as to the maximum HDD size that can be installed in a Pavilion DV7-3105ea.
Additionally is it possible to add a second HDD.
    Thanks and kind regards,
    jB

There is no theoretical limit the only limit is what is sold on the market. Any correctly sized SATA laptop drive will work. They do now make 1TB drives that will fit and yes there is a secondary hard drive bay so theoretically you could have 2TB of storage. You are going to need 1 or 2 drives like this:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152291
The drive has to be 9.5 mm in height some 1TB laptop drives are too thick.
You also likely need a second hard drive caddy/connector like this:
    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=222&zenid=2a83d0d222d80c6...
And here is a link to the Manual showing how to get to the hard drive bay:
    Drive Manual
Check your system to see if a secondary drive caddy/connector is there but it likely is not and you need the part linked above. Good luck.

It appears that you did not understand the post that I made.
If you purchase a high end notebook that has a chipset with sata controllers that support SATA3 then SATA3 devices will run at SATA3 bandwidth. Your notebook is not one that does.
It would not matter which brand you chose.
If you decided to economize and purchase a mainstream notebook, then the issue would still be the same.
Notebooks are not created equally. It is the same with desktop PCs.
That is why each manufacturer has a tiered structure to accomodate the economic means of the target market.
    1) Entry level (basic chipset and CPU)  $
    2) Mainstream (mid level chipset and mainstream CPU)  $$
    3) High end.  (high end chipset and high performance CPU, wifi adapter and even SSD hard disks)  $$$

  • Can I add an external HDD Drive to my Satellite L300-110?

How can I add an external HDD Drive to my Toshiba Satellite L300-110 laptop and does Toshiba supports adding such type of HDD Drives to the laptops?

    Hello
External HDD can be connected to every PC or notebook. External HDD will be connected to USB ports. On this picture you can see how it looks like.

  • Can I add a 2nd HDD on my Satellite A300-02C?

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if it's possible to add a 2nd hard drive in my A300-02C?
There is a 2nd HDD slot, but no sata connector on the PCB (see picture link).
    http://www.notebookreview.com/picture.asp?f=36752
I'm wondering if it's possible to add the connector (by myself or by the toshiba customer service).
If someone knows if it's possible and where can i buy the sata connector... Please leave a comment :)
    Adrien.

I think there is nothing you can do about it.
Satellite A300 is delivered with several different hardware configurations and several different mainboards. I really don't believe you can add it additionally.
For exact info contact nearest Toshiba authorized service provider and ask for help.
If someone has experience with this stuff then Toshiba service technicians.

  • Satellite X200-219: Can I add a third HDD

    Hi
First can I say great laptop (although more frequent display driver updates would be nice :D).
So, I was kicking about the Intel Matrix Storage console being nosey, and it turns out I have one unusued port (port 1).
Does that mean it's possible to add another internal hard drive to my laptop?
Or is it wishful thinking on my part?
Another question: is there any room for a third HDD in any case?
    Thank you!

    Hi
I have talked to an notebook technician and the third HDD is not possible
The notebook was equipped with a 2 HDDs and this is a max what is possible
Dont know what you mean by one free port but there is definitely not a third SATA HDD controller

  • Add 2nd Bootable Hard Drive

I have a working Windows Server 2012 R2 System, with two hard drives, which, I'll call Drive One and Drive Two.  All is well in the world.
I have a third hard drive taken from another computer that was the C: drive with a bootable Windows 7 image on it.  I'll call it Drive Three.
The goal is to take one computer and boot off Drive One to bring up Windows Server 2012 R2 as the default, but, to also have the option to boot off Drive Three to bring up Windows 7 as necessary.
I add Drive Three to the Windows Server 2012 R2 System, press F12 during startup to bring up the boot menu.  I Select Drive Three to boot from and Windows 7 boots without any problems whatsoever.
While in Windows 7, I verify and ensure that Drive One and Drive Two are offline, I don't want Windows 7 seeing the Windows Server 2012 R2 disks and vice versa.
I reboot and do NOT press F12, so, that it starts up on the default using Drive One and it doesn't boot.  As though it can't find Windows installed on Drive One.  I can boot using the media and bring up the Recovery Console and verify the C drive
is in fact the Windows Server 2012 R2 drive.
If I physically unplug Drive Three, then, the system boots up normally to Windows Server 2012 R2, no problems.  If I plug Drive Three back in and boot off of Drive Three, Windows 7 boots normally.  If I physically unplug, Drive Three and boot off
Drive One, Windows Server 2008 R2 boots normally.  If I have Drive Three plugged in and try to boot off Drive One, the system appears to start booting Windows Server 2012 R2 (what I mean by that; the Windows Server 2012 R2 logo comes up with the rotating
dots in a circle pattern, followed by an error message with the light blue Windows Server 2012 R2 background saying it couldn't boot, try recovery).
I can't think of any reason why I should not be able to have all three drives plugged in and either boot off of Drive One for 2012 or Drive Three for 7.  However, 2012 only boots after I physically unplug Drive Three.
It appears that somehow with Drive Three connected it's getting confused.  I was thinking no problem, I'll just bring up 2012 add Drive Three, Rescan Disks, then, set Drive Three to Offline.  However, that doesn't work, Drive Three won't get recognized
without going through the BIOS on a reboot.
Okay, no problem, boot 2012 and when it fails go to the media and bring up the Recovery Console and run diskpart to offline the drive.  That appears to work, however, when you reboot it still fails.  Go back to the Recovery Console and Drive Three
no longer shows as offline.  It's like the diskpart changes on the Recovery Console are done to the windows version in memory and not to the Windows Server 2012 R2's C: drive.  Okay, so I changed the diskpart SAN policy to offlineall, which, should
have offline'd everything but the drive I'm booting off of.  That didn't work either.
This should be something that you smack your head with your hand and say I coulda had a V-8.  I must be missing something simple, because this can not be that complicated.
No, I do NOT want to modify either drive to make a dual boot system.  I want to use these drives as a place to build an image. I do NOT want to have to keep taking the cover off and unplug hard drives continually either.
    Anyone have any thoughts?
    Thank you.

This system has a bootable disk with Windows Server 2012 R2 on it.  It has another bootable disk with Windows 7 on it.  I simply want the system to boot off Windows Server 2012 R2 as the default, and have the option to reboot, hit F12 and select
the Windows 7 disk to boot off it.
With regards to 1., that would require that I modify my Windows Server 2012 R2 system.  I do not want to modify it, it's fine like it is.  With regards to 2., I'm not following, "whether both Windows 7 and Windows 2012 boot store reside", huh?
Are you saying select the boot disk that I want as my default in the BIOS?  Okay, that is done, Windows Server 2012 R2 is the default.  With regards to 3., I'm not following, is this suppose to be tied to your item number 2.?
Perhaps I didn't state the problem correctly.  I have a working Windows Server 2012 R2 computer.  I add another disk drive to it with a working Windows 7 image.  I can boot off the Windows 7 image just fine, but, the Windows Server 2012 R2
will no longer boot.  If I remove the disk drive with the working Windows 7 image on it, then, the Windows Server 2012 R2 disk will boot just fine.
Adding the new bootable disk to the system causes the Windows Server 2012 R2 system to no longer boot.  Removing the new bootable disk to the system causes the Windows Server 2012 R2 system to boot just fine.

  • Intel iMac: Wanting to add more internal HDD & More RAM

Well i'm interested but it seems opening my iMac is a bit scary :/ Also i have no idea IF there is room inside for more add ons. Maybe the HDD might have to be external but the RAM i need.
If anyone could point me in the right direction, as maybe you've done this yourself before? Would be much appreciated!
    Here is my info
    Model Name: iMac
    Model Identifier: iMac5,1
Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed: 2.16 GHz
    Number Of Processors: 1
    Total Number Of Cores: 2
    L2 Cache: 4 MB
    Memory: 2 GB
    Bus Speed: 667 MHz

    Hi Matt
The early white Intel iMac's are one of the hardest models to work on and it is real easy to damage other components and cables in the process. If your Internal HD is working fine, it might be best to let it be and pickup a USB/FireWire or Quad Interface External HD.
    http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/1394/USB/EliteAL/800/
Ram is user upgradeable and can be accessed under the center cover on the bottom of the iMac.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1432
The maximum amount of ram you can install in the Late 2006 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo is 2 matching 2GB modules, but that system only supports 3GB and can not be upgraded to use more.

  • Using an ipod as a bootable HDD?

I was recently thinking of buying an external harddrive for my computer and putting an OS, leaning twords linux :P, on it (so I could, essentially, take my computer with me even though it's a desktop). But then I realized I might just be able to use my ipod as that harddrive instead of having to carry all of that extra stuff around.
After looking up on it, though, it came to my attention that the harddrives in the 5th/6th gen ipods (might get a 6th) were not built for the same use as a regular harddrive (and therefore wont last nearly as long.... and remember, im going to be using this as my music player as well so i don't want to have it die on me).
----So my question for someone who actually knows what they're saying is:
How long will either of those drives last for day-to-day computing if they were to be the HDD of my computer? (for the operating system, internet, word, media veiwing, ect)
thanks in advance to anyone who bothers to reply

  • Trouble configuring pxi 6289

I'm having trouble configuring the PXI 6289 DAQ. I have the PXI-1036 chasis along with the PXI-8336 MXI-4 control board. All the hardware seems to be installed correctly and I've installed all the drivers and software from the disks. When I launch MAX, under "Devices and Interfaces" I set the PXI System to be "External PC" and I set the chasis as PXI-1036. Under the chasis however, it detects the PXI system but it doesn't detect the DAQ in any of the slots.
I've tried switching the DAQ to the other slots as well as updating all the drivers but to no avail. Is there something basic that I'm missing?

    Hey Scott-M
I can't see the card in device manager or under Devices and Interfaces in MAX. To be honest, I don't even see the PCI control board under device manager in Windows (I'm supposed to be able to see it correct?). I've also tried switching around the PCI card in different slots, I removed the sound card that I know was working, so it's definitely in a slot that's working. I wasn't the person who did the initial installation of everything, when I came everything was already set up and I was just supposed to configure things.  The hardware originally came with NI-DAQmx 8.7.1, but I've downloaded the latest version (NI-DAQmx 8.9.5) and installed it.
    Thanks
