Trouble Connecting Ipod Touch to Itunes

Hey Guys
Having a bit of trouble with my new Ipod Touch I bought over the weekend... hoping you could help me out.
Basically my ipod will be recognised by itunes but when it tries to sync I get the error message
"The ipod cannot be synced. The disk could not be read or written to."
After discussing it with Apple Support, I connected the device to another computer, which connects with the ipod and syncs fine. After looking in the device manager and seeing that the ipod is not appearing, they are claiming that it's an issue with the windows driver for the usb2 port and theres nothing I can do and to call windows support.
The strange thing is, when I buy songs by wifi on the itunes store via the ipod touch - when I connect the device that song will transfer back to itunes no problem.
Anyone have any ideas? I've updated itunes and ipod software, uninstalled and reinstalled itunes and deleted temp directories.

Hey burntfilm82,
Does the iPod touch work correctly in another user account?
This article describes howto setup another user account and has some good troubleshooting tips.

  • Having trouble connecting iPod Touch with iTunes 8.2

I have a first generation iPod Touch 16GB, before the recent 8.2 iTunes update (or it may have been 8.0, I tend to ignore those annoying 'please update now messages')my iTunes worked properly, and the Touch would sync whenever I connected it.
Now when I connect the iPod to my computer it no longer shows up in iTunes, the computer (running Windows Vista Basic) recognizes the iPod is there, and the iPod charges properly. iTunes itself however is oblivious.
I've tried completely reinstalling iTunes like the support page suggests, but the problem persists, it is getting quite annoying now since I cannot get the new 3.0 OS update or put new music on.
    Can anybody help?

I have the same problem, but mine won't even take a charge from the computer, or my docks. I have to plug it into a wall wart usb charger and then it works fine. Can't get my computer to recognize/sync it since the "upgrade" to 8.2. The only responses worth a crap on this topic say to just be patient because it is now a known bug they are working on. IMO I wish Apple would stop acting like MS and stop releasing stuff that hasn't been properly beta tested. This glitch has occurred for thousands of users, and any basic cross platform testing process should have revealed this problem in the first 5 minutes. Yet ANOTHER embarrassing POS from the "new" Apple.

  • Unexpected "Connect iPod touch to iTunes" screen

I powered off my 2G Touch before flying to Argentina; then powering up again on arrival brought up a new-to-me "Connect iPod touch to iTunes screen", which no amount of button presses would get past.
Luckily there was a PC where we were staying, and with iTunes installed, and with USB, so I was able to get going again, esp. since I'd disabled automatic syncing, though now everything was in Spanish. But,
Q1: does anyone know what this screen really means?, and why it might have come up? [a wifi router was nearby]
Q2: would a hard reset [hold sleep/wake and home buttons for 10 sec] worked to get past this screen?

I have the same problem, getting the 'connect' symbol or icon while travelling. I just got off the phone and an unsatisfying conversation with Apple support. Apparently, this is a "rare?" problem that is caused when there is some kind of software failure on the iPod Touch, and that there is no way to get around it except connecting to iTunes on some pc somewhere, ideally your own PC and iTunes. This happened once before for me but I was home and just plugged it in. The iPod recovered, connected and synced with no error message at all. The rep at Apple support said there is no log or trace that can be retrieved, so the mysterious iPod Touch software failure will remain unknown. He said I could take it in for warranty service, but who knows if they could reproduce the problem. Maybe the new iPhone/iPod Touch software version will run better (or worse). ps, I tried all possible combinations of hard reset on the unit, but nothing else works to recover.

  • How to connect ipod touch to itunes on Mac OS 10.4.11

My desktop (Tiger Mac OS 10.4.11) will not recognize my ipod touch in itunes thus preventing downloading of music to the ipod. The ipod is recognized in iphoto and is brought up automatically when attached to the desktop. The connection is via usb directly to the desktop. Are there any ideas on a fix for this problem?

If the iPod has iOS 4.2 or greater you need to upgrade the operating system on the computer. To find version go to Settings>General>About>Version
IOS 4. to iOS 5 requires OSX 10.5.8 or greater
iOS 6 requires 10.6.8 or later
If you have a 4G with IOS 6 10.5.8 may work. See:
ios 6 and macosx 10.5 on a pre intel...: Apple Support Communities
OSX 10.6.8 requires a Mac with an Intel processor
To purchase the OSX upgrade disks you have to call Apple since they are not listed in the on-line store.

  • Problem connecting ipod touch to iTunes

    Hi,
First of all sorry for my bad english.
I have an Ipod Touch and i have a problem with connection the ipod to my computer. When i connect the ipod to my computer, itunes start's up but gives an error "iTunes cannot connect to the iphone caused by an unknown error (0xE8000065)" (it's written in dutch so its difficult to translate). I have done EVERYTHING. Remove iTunes, Apple update, Apple mobile device support. Reinstall iTunes newest version 8.1.1, after the reinstalation it works FINE but only the first time. When i disconnect the Ipod the same problem is back.. When i connect it to an other Pc it works fantastic and for more then just the first time (it keeps working). On the other PC i restored the Iphone with the shift button and in recovery mode. I used an other cable, other USB ports (nothing helps). Restarted Ipod service ... All i've readed i did.
Now my question is : I know its not the Ipod, but is it possible that it is a fold or is there a fix ? Because when i reinstall everything it works but only for 1 time after that the fold keeps on coming back

My friends were having trouble with this on an XP windows PC, they tried everything but install xp service pack 3, doing so after calling apple tech support on 1300 321 456 (australia).
I left before they downloaded it, though it didn't work for flash drives (?) - new 1 week old ipod touch (version 2.?) and my iphone (version 3.0), although my Ipod nano (version 1.1.3) connected just fine.
It was coming up as a message saying about a bad connection to an iphone when the ipod touch was connected too!
I read something that seems possible only during the very first connection attempt, being a is connection is made. My friends swear they were able to transfer music to the new ipod touch connected up to the computer, not sure exactly what process, although after disconnecting the ipod touch is no longer recognised by the software properly.
I'd rule out its a plug & charge cable (unless its damaged), you'll probably need the latest itunes and be running a PC with windows XP service pack 3.

  • Error code 0xE800000 when connecting iPod Touch to iTunes 7.7

Since one week ago my iPod Touch 8GB was working properly with my iTunes. Then I upgraded to iTunes 7.7 and upgraded the Touch to 2.0. Now iTunes does not recognize the Touch anymore and does not connect to it. I cannot use the Touch anymore because it always tells me to connect to iTunes.
I tried to restore the Touch but nothing changes and iTunes refuse to recognize the device. Instead it responses with an unknown error (Error Code 0xE8000001). I tried all two USB 1.1 ports on my G4 400 Laptop as well as all two USB 2.0 over PCMCIA card. Always the same error.
Can anyone please let me know what I can do now to get the Touch back to work

Also getting this error and I can't seem to connect my iPhone to my laptop's iTunes. Tried re-installing iTunes but still no go.
Would appreciate any suggestion to try to resolve this issue.

  • Usb cable not connecting ipod touch and iTunes

when i connect my ipod touch using usb cable with mac..itunes is not detecting it..even itouch is not charging..what should i do?

    Not Charge
    - See:
    iPod touch: Hardware troubleshooting
    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Make an appointment at the Genus Bar of an Apple store.

  • Trouble connecting Ipod Touch 2nd gen to Win 7 PC.  Sync resets...

I have a second gen Ipod Touch that has had a lot of problems lately. It refuses to sync with my pc that I had installed it on, and every time I start syncing it, it will freeze with the load symbol, or it will reset the ipod. Not a complete reset, but like it turned the ipod off and then turned it back on. I haven't had it sync for weeks now. I tried resetting it through itunes and it froze on resetting, so I reset it on the ipod using the reset. Retire in settings. So it reset and deleted everything on the ipod, and now I have an ipod with stock apps, no music, no anything. And it still won't sync. I am using the newest ver of itunes for 64bit win 7, and I also have the newest ver of software for the ipod touch. I then tried transporting my library to my other pc, with different hardware than the first, but it is also using win 7. It is having the same problem as listed above. Should I do a complete hard reset on the ipod? If so, I forgot how to do that? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I have been trying for about a month to get my Touch to sync with i-tunes. I have already used up my "1" support from the technical center and I think apple is a bunch of a$$es for not supporting this product better. They change the OS for i-tunes and then nothing works afterwards....Lame! If anyone finds out how to repair this issue please let us know, Apple is of no help to us. I'm glad windows has something out now, time for something new on the Christmas list !!!!!

  • Trouble connecting Ipod Touch 2G to Belkin Tunecast auto

Hi there! I just bought my Ipod Touch 2G on this Chritsmas and find it really cool, but... I have this one problem, when I try to connect it to my new Belkin Tunecast auto, it just doesn't stop sending the audio trough the internal speakers in order to ear the sound on the external ones, (in this case my auto-stero via AM/FM signal) and I know the problem is not the belkin transmiter because I also try it on my Ipod nano, and it works perfect there, so I think something happens with my Ipod touch, can you tell me if that's normal, I mean can the iPod Touch send the audio outside from the "charging port" like many others ipod's or it have to be done by the headphone output only, help me please, thanks!

The Belkin Tunecast Auto does not support the iPod Touch and you will not get it to work. Please read the description of the product here :-
    http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=263595
It clearly shows what devices work with it and the iPod Touch is NOT listed.

  • Trouble connecting Ipod touch to home stereo.

Hello, I have an Ipod Touch 3rd gen.  I currently use it mostly in my car and I use a simple aux 3.5 mm jack from the itouch to my aux input on my car stereo to listen to music.  Works great.  Now, I have been trying to get my ipod to connect to either of my home stereo receivers without any luck.  I have a 3.5mm jack from the itouch going to 2 rca inputs on the back of the stereo.  When I try to get it to play, it sometimes will play but it is not loud at all and sounds very distorted.  I can sort of hear the music but the vocals are very quiet.   This happens on both of my home stereos.  I was thinking of getting another cable that goes from the 30 pin connector on the bottom to the 2 rca inputs.  Do you think this would be better?  Or do I not have something configured right with the itouch?  Its just weird that it works fine in my car but not with the home stereo.  Thanks for the input.

This may work since it includesd an audio out\http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A/apple-composite-av-cable?fnode=72
This may also work since it included :
Connect the dock to a stereo or speakers using a stereo audio cable to play music from iPod or iPhone."

  • Trouble connecting ipod video to itunes

I recently had a problem with my ipod video (sad face, exclamation point blah blah blah) and exchanged it to get a brand new one at the apple store. I tried to connect my new ipod and here's what happened (and didn't happen):
    (1) the screen on the ipod just shows the regular menu and shows the battery charging, then after a while goes to the "battery charging" screen.
    (2) the ipod doesn't show up in itunes.
    (3) I tried running diagnostics and ipod connection status is red and failed
    (4) It doesn't show up in My Computer
    (5) I've unistalled and reinstalled itunes, I can't restore my ipod because it wont show up in itunes. When i put it into disk mode, it just shows the "ok to disconect" screen.
*IT WOULD BE GREAT IF ANYONE COULD HELP BECAUSE THIS HAS BECOME FRUSTRATING!!*

You might want to exchange this one for another.

  • Trying to connect ipod touch to iTunes software icon just spinning

Recently I had to rebuild my music list in iTunes on my PC, during this time I performed upgrades to the iTunes app and my devices which seemed to go ok.  Today I plug in my iPod to delete the music that currently on the iPod and replace it with the rebuilt library and nothing happens other than the gray circle continually spins next to where it says Operator's iPod.  At first I thought it my be the amount of information that's being synched between iTunes and the iPod but I walked away for about 3 hours and it was still just sitting there.  When I click on Operator's iPad nothing happens.  Rebooting the PC, the iPod, starting from scratch has yielded the same results.  Any suggestions?

This has been resolved by re-installing the iTunes software.  What a PITA!  Every time Apple updates it's software or OS I hold my breath, cross my fingers and squint my eyes.  Will it work this time?  What a crock.
