Trouble connecting laptop to hub 4

Question

My laptop is on Vista home premium and is a hp Compaq Presario c731em purchased second hand so reset to factory settings and updated again to current updates. But hasn't or won't connect to internet will connect to wifi with full strength signal but not internet and says cannot load page as not connected to internet and the problem diagnosed by lap top is the router. Now will work fully when plugged direct and if take off security password to connect to router

can you post an ipconfig /all
on vista there is an adpater that has issues like you describe

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.
If you do not have another PC - do you have a phone connected to the internet - can you photograph the result and post the image in a reply

[indent]To open a Cmd Prompt or an Administrator Cmd prompt from the Desktop.

Use Win + X and choose [color=blue]Command Prompt[/color] or [color=blue]Command Prompt (Admin)[/color] from the list.[/indent]
[u]For windows version, XP, Vista, W7[/u]
[indent]Hold the [b]Windows[/b] key and press [B]R[/B]
Now type [color=red][B]CMD[/B][/color]
Now press [color=blue][b][i]Enter[/i][/b][/color] to open a command prompt box (A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):[/indent]
In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:
[i]Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is [B]NOT[/B] a space after the / in the following command.[/i]
[indent][color=red][b] ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt [/b][/color][/indent]
It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.
Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results into a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose [color=blue][b]Edit[/b][/color] - [color=blue][b]Select all[/b][/color]
all the text will now be highlighted
Next
From the notepad menu - choose [color=blue][b]Edit[/b][/color] - [color=blue][b]Copy[/b][/color]
Now go back to the forum - goto the reply and then right click in the reply box and [color=blue][b]paste[/b][/color] the results.
The results from the notepad should now appear in the forum reply.
